Oh my Christ, it's that sort of visit?! Thanks for the tip off HLC. Both my Mum and MIL have been making comments about us getting a cleaner to get the house sorted for 'the visit', and so I thought it was just to check we weren't crack dealers living in a hovel...
For the record, although a wee bit scruffy, we're actually quite normal, but both Mum and MIL have cleaners as they're disabled and are also totally obsessive about cleaning, so nothing is ever untidy or dirty...and no-one else meets their standards.....

I also suspect that given we live in quite a 'challenging' area, we'll be the least of her worries.

I haven't got up the courage to do a tweak- don't know if mine would do anything yet, as my boobs haven't grown at all. But can see little white 'ends' in the nipples if you know what I mean, which I'd guess is the ducts getting ready Confused?

mopsytop · 13/11/2011 17:33

Mine has been leaking a bit at night for weeks. Only a small bit. But it totally freaks me out!

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 13/11/2011 21:33

Yep, that would freak me out too.

Tried a little tweak (if you can be brave about it mopsy, so can I!) and nothing happened.
Did get bras for bf from Mothercare today, as my 'starters for 10'- will get properly measured when I'm actually doing it....

figgygal · 13/11/2011 21:45

I had a shower tonight and afterwards had a little poke around my boobs and they did start leaking I was so surprised i actually leaked got very excited. Think my belly button is on the way out I was feeling around in what is left of it And have some sort of black scab in it keep picking at it it's so gross!!!!!

Been feeling a bit grim today not sure if over did it with the 3 course dinner had out with friends last night or the fact I've forgotten to take my preg vits 3 times this week Of course the fact I have massive ankles today has me concluding I have pre-eclampsia have MW on Tuesday but might phone them tomorrow see if some1 will take my BP just in case. Never been such a hypochondriac in my life

AwomancalledHorse · 14/11/2011 02:17

Mine have been leaking since 14wks, has made my bras look like I have boob dandruff Hmm looking forward to actually having something to DO with all my moo juice, really looking forward to giving the breast pump a go, does that make me sad?

Awake at stupid o'clock because of bastard branxton hicks...my way of dealing with pain is to giggle, so I'm sat on the sofa at 2am, alone, laughing, like a weirdo!!

Northen, the MW's around here are so pro home births I think we could live in the bin shed & they'd ok it!

figgy, where the heck did you find room for a 3 course meal?! Blimey!! Glad to know there's another one out there prone to bit of pregnancy hypochondria...I've had a cold the last few days and have been panicking it will 'turn' into full blown evil flu.

What baby related stuff has everyone got planned for this week? Aside from working your pelvic floor?!?

mopsytop · 14/11/2011 10:11

figgy you made me laugh - I, too, have turned into a total hypochondriac! Mind you, had a swollen foot last week and went to midwife and it turned out I had high bp and protein in my urine, and had to go to hospital to be monitored. All well in the end (phew!) but it is defs better to be safe than sorry, and who cares if we are a bit hypochondriac-y !!

OP posts:
lalababy · 14/11/2011 13:16

Waaa... I have swollen feet too... I don't know where they have come from but I am officially in cankle terrtory!

No leaking for me... and I don't have the guts to tweak myself. I reckon I'll just wait and find out.

Between giving your self a perneal massages, tweaking nipples - is there no end to the beauty of pregnancy????

NorthernChinchilla · 14/11/2011 19:50

Ooooh, wonder what the scab is figgy, do keep us updated!

Feel slightly guilty as nary a Braxton Hicks, cankle, raised BP or leaking boob in sight here, sorry. It is a marvellous range of beautiful things....

Have been to a sort of 'things you can do with your baby' session tonight at the local Sure Start. Felt a bit of a tit (and not in the moo juice way) as it was in fact an early pregnancy event, not that the MW told me when she encouraged me to go along. So everyone else was of sleek bump, and I was hefting around my 35 weeker.

Though not as confused/daft as the couple that brought along their 8 week old baby Hmm!

Writing up my handover note for my maternity cover bloke is rather weird. He starts next week for a week's handover...I think that's the bit that freaks me out the most, not being at work and feeling guilty about it already!!

kri5ty · 14/11/2011 20:02

right girls... just how have you been tweeking? As if you were hand expressing? May give it a go lol

also need to start with the massage hmmm

mopsytop · 14/11/2011 21:54

kri5ty I did it by sort of massaging my boob outside the nipple. Then little beads of milk appear. But it totally freaked me out so I stopped!

OP posts:
kri5ty · 14/11/2011 22:00

hmm im not even sure i would produce any!!

figgygal · 14/11/2011 22:02

Not doing the massage I've decided am on the raspbery leaf tea and trying to remember to do my pelvic floors but I draw the line at the perineal manipulation!!

When I "tweaked" last night I just sort of squeezed the nipple gently for a minute or so and it started coming through.

My lord I can't believe how huge my ankles are tonight I'm told that it's now NOT considered to be a sign of pre-eclampsia not sure if that's true???!!??? MW suggested it might be due to where he is lying but he doesn't feel anywhere different to where he normally lies so not sure if that's true.

mopsytop · 14/11/2011 22:05

figgy mine only just swelled up on one side which was weird. I think it's only a sign when combined with high bp and protein in urine. always safer to go and get bp checked I guess though.

My ankles are huge and gross. They put decompression socks on me when I was in hospital - and I wore them for 4 days (only takingthem off when I washed). My ankles and feet did not swell, but my thighs then grew to incomprehendible proportions. The skin was so tight. Horrendous.
When I took them off at home, bit by bit the thighs reduced in size, but the swelling just fell to my feet and lower legs. 10 days later, my ankles and feet are still horrendously swollen. MW wsn't really interested - stay active was her advice. But if I do go shopping or do anything active, they just seem to get worse.
No black bits in my belly button, but at the last growth period, mine went crusty - I guess its the skin that's been tucked away for decades, now being exposed as it stretches out. The crustiness has gone, but the area is tender.
I WANT MY BODY BACK!

lalababy · 15/11/2011 13:37

I feel so miserable between my cankles, sore lower back, cant lie down because of heartburn... I have gone from feeling great at 34 weeks to fucking shit at 35 weeks. Who knew that 1 week could make such a difference :(

Anyway, I have now decided that I want to treat myself and am thinking - a mani, pedi (although too embarresed of anyone seeing my feed), a massage or facial. Which one will make me love myself the most???

mopsytop · 15/11/2011 13:39

lala me too :*(
I'd go for a pedicure, mainly because they make you feel sooooo good after. Think of the hard work your feet are having to do lugging the bump around! I would love a pedi if I wasn't so broke ...

OP posts:
mopsytop · 15/11/2011 13:39

(plus, they are used to seeing less than perfect feet ... and your feet are probably totally grand anyway!)

OP posts:
lalababy · 15/11/2011 14:51

Ha... I am worried that their fingers might get lost in all the swelling around my ankles !!!

Mopsy... Groupon is the way to go... you can get some amazing deals for spa type stuff! Just buy 1 or 2 less things for the baby and treat yourself :)

OiMissus · 15/11/2011 15:11

there was a good deal on Groupon Manchester last month to see a real foot specialist - rather than a spa - I wish I'd bought it now. :( Not sure if a spa type place could do much with my swollen appendages. Do you think a pedicure could be beneficial?

lalababy · 15/11/2011 15:30

Well I have read that massaging the feet in the direction of the heart helps reduce the swelling...

plus it might have a positve impact on your mood !

OiMissus · 15/11/2011 15:41

WHAT DO YOU MEAN? THERE'S NOTHING WRONG WITH MY MOOD. WHO SAID THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY MOOD?
B*STARDS.

Grin
NorthernChinchilla · 15/11/2011 17:55

< gently trembles with fear at Oi's mood expressive nature >

Oh, definitely go for a pedi. I've had mine booked for the first Saturday of each month for months 6/7, 7/8, 8/9 if you see what I mean and they're glorious. I currently have cheerfully gold, Xmas-y little piggies, and not only is it a lovely experience but you also get to have one bit of you that's glam.

Have the ankles gone down at all today lala, mopsy? I used to get the crusty belly button thing before I got pregnant (v odd and apols for TMI) and have found that it being exposed to the open air has done it the world of good.

I spoke too soon as well- after months of it being in abeyance, one day of not sitting in my chair and my sciatica has pounced...to the extent I was screaming out in pain and a colleague had to drive me home. Should be gone by tomorrow, but you never know your luck Confused!

figgygal · 15/11/2011 19:27

Northern lots of sympathy on the sciatica am still waiting for mine to kick in will do a very relieved and surprised dance if I manage to get through this without any back pains. Just the cankles and searing wrist pains at the moment....... happy days!!

OiMissus · 15/11/2011 19:51

I may book myself in for one then. I am an oasis of calm. Especially now I realise I shall be watching England vs Sweden for the best part of the evening .... Yawn.

NorthernChinchilla · 15/11/2011 20:30

GODDAMIT I FORGOT ABOUT THE FOOTBALL!
