Anyone else bored of being pregnant????

YBR · 04/11/2011 14:22

Leg cramps, in summary: it may be nutrient deficiency (potassium/magnesium/calcium) so eating the right things may help. Quinine is also said to be helpful (tonic water or bitter lemon).
I've finding I'm generally awake enough that I can tell when the muscles start to go and if I immediately stretch out I can prevent it. For calves stretch your legs with your ankles towards you (not pointing your toes). It's becoming a reflex so I don't have to be very awake at all.

Hope this helps, the stretching was advice I was given by a friend who runs marathons and really works for me. I can't say either way about the rest.

TeacupTempest · 04/11/2011 14:35

lalababy certainly getting a bit impatient now!

HoneyLovesCake · 04/11/2011 16:02

Bored. Irritable. Fed up....but mostly because I have to keep working :)

NorthernChinchilla · 04/11/2011 19:45

Yup, I'd read about the potassium/magnesium bits too, but then I have a banana a day and my multi-vit! Good point about the quinine though, I'd forgotten that, thanks YBR.

Getting a bit fed up now, as everything becomes a lot more of an effort...but like HLC I'm still working, and have had two crap nights' sleep, worked late one evening and started early on another day, which would have me pretty knackered even if I weren't so pregnant.

Mind you, am finding that time is marching on...have only got 3.5 weeks left at work, and for one of those I'll be on leave/working from home/at an ante-natal class.

Having a pedicure, and sorting out the nursery this weekend, along with a LOT of napping Smile.

figgygal · 06/11/2011 17:55

Anyone else on the raspberry leaf tea? Just had my first not loving it but I shall persevere

Sorelip · 06/11/2011 23:40

figgy I started drinking it at 32 weeks. Not sure that it is making any difference whatsoever, but I count it towards my daily fluid intake.

AwomancalledHorse · 06/11/2011 23:47

figgy, I've found a spoonful of sugar helps the taste.

DH noticed I have a rash on my arm and leg (red spots, not itchy), so now I can't sleep/relax as I'm worried it's something...eventhough I know it's not. If that makes any sense?

Northen, how did the nursery sorting go?

Fed up of this pregnancy lark...to think I want to go through it at least one mroe time!! Grin

LondonGirly · 07/11/2011 16:49

Just sat down with a mug of rlt, dh is back at work today, so it is only just hitting that I am off on maternity leave now! Had a lovely week last week sorting out things for the baby.

Have had strong BH over the last week, leg cramps seem to have finally given up!

Has anyone else started maternity leave yet? If so other than wishing the baby would make an appearence what are you doing with the time?

figgygal · 07/11/2011 20:48

Last day of work is 24th November was thinking today what will I do with self all day. People keep telling me to rest and do washing but I think I'll be bored especially since not due until 09th.

Have had some really strong kicks today they've actually made me jump and cry out don't believe I can get any bigger still 4 wks to go Sad I went to eat my dinner tonight and could barely sit to the table and sitting on the sofa is really uncomfortable. Shouldn't complain it's taken me to 35 wks to feel pregnant have been very lucky.

NorthernChinchilla · 07/11/2011 21:25

Nursery's coming along thanks AHWCH, but not finished. Got a new lamp and picture frame for it, and we've sort of got the crap out, and everything that we want to be in there actually in there, but not in any sort of organised way.... Cot won't arrive until a couple of weeks because of my Dad, but will be doing more sorting this weekend.

Has the rash gone now?!

On maternity leave, I've got another 3-3.5 weeks to go. I start on 1st Dec and the wee man makes his arrival on the 12th. Part of the reason for keeping it so short is I have NO idea what I'll do with myself! Nearest family is over an hour away, vast majority five hours away, most friends are in work and/or in the North, and I don't drive!

I plan to meet a few people for lunch who are free; cook up for the freezer; enjoy the odd nap; read, etc.

figgy- know just what you mean about the shouting out; I spend my time emitting odd squeaks when he kicks, or looking like I need a poo when my face wrinkles up as he stretches magnificently Confused

Five weeks to go!!

mopsytop · 07/11/2011 22:07

I think 5 weeks until I take time off.
figgy and northern i am the same with the kicks!

London, I'm a housewife (have been since we got married last year)...and although I normally find things to keep me occupied during the week, this pregnancy has made me feel a little isolated & SO BORED as I've been bedresting 3/4 days a week (which is why I've been on here so much)!
Now that it's getting close, it's nice to have stuff to do (have been cleaning/sorting/nesting all week). Grin

figgy, I've not been at the dining table for ages, well done on making it so far before retreating to the sofa!

Sounds awesome Northen! Our 'nursery' is still full of stuff that we've got to sell/take to dump before baby gets here...and our spare bed (which we've decided will be the one I birth on, so it doesn't matter how filthy it gets, we'll chuck it out afterwards, which is poo as it's only been slept on 3/4 times!

Rash has faded but is still there, it's not itchy so not bothered. I've found my skin is much more sensitive the last few weeks, so I've probably just had a reaction to something (had to change my shampoo as I reacted to it)!

figgygal · 07/11/2011 22:12

Am feeling really weepy all of a sudden feeling huge and uncomfortable just remembered I found my first stretch Mark the other day and feeling distraught. Think it's bed time Grin

mopsytop · 07/11/2011 22:14

awww figgy :( it'll all be okay. I had a massive cry the other week as felt so fat and uncomfy and horrible. You are nearly there!

OP posts:
AwomancalledHorse · 07/11/2011 22:21

:( Sorry you're feeling so crap today figgy!

Dh keeps on telling me 'you're not fat, you're pregnant'..which really doesn't make me feel any better!

figgygal · 08/11/2011 10:37

Aw im ok really just fed up now!!

mopsytop · 08/11/2011 10:39

Me too! Can't get comfy :(

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 08/11/2011 12:16

Awww, figgy, glad you're feeling a bit better. Hope you are too mopsy?

Am working from home today as had MW this morning, and then have a meeting close to home (as opposed to close to the office) this afternoon. I can actually fit at our dining table OK, but as the chairs are only slightly padded there's only so long I can sit at them before it sets off my sciatica and I have to come and sit on my 'throne' (extremely aged armchair).

There are certainly fewer items of clothing I can wear and be comfy in now...Sad

We're keeping the spare double bed in the baby's room AWCH on the grounds that I'll probably end up there half the time when breastfeeding/if baby's ill/just want to collapse, but I'm not giving birth on mine! I can see the attraction of making a it a total 'birthing nest' and then just lobbing it afterwards... Smile

OiMissus · 08/11/2011 12:29

I have hardly any clothes that are still comfy to wear. Thank god for central heating as I spend most of my time in the house only half dressed. It's a good job DH loves me, if not I think he'd be quite repulsed.
I am. I find myself repulsive, so can well understand the tears. A few weeks ago I felt full, and lush and womanly - blooming, I suppose. Now I feel swollen, gargantuan, stuffed, uncomfortable,... I have trouble getting up from the sofa or the bed. I'm tired. I struggle to get dressed. I struggle to put in a wash load... Moan, moan, moan. I'm really hoping the baby comes at 38 weeks so I can make a start getting back to normal.
I'm 36+4, and impatient!

NorthernChinchilla · 08/11/2011 13:09

Don't say that Oi! You're not repulsive- I believe the MN saying is 'this too shall pass' and although we're all waddle-y it won't be forever.

It's crap as it's not only the extra size but the discomfort that goes with it- I guess if we were all swollen, but still brimming with energy and cheer and restful nights it'd be less cruddy. As opposed to OHs making comments about needing to install hoists to assist in getting us off the sofa....Hmm

And with it being the first time round, it is a total shock to find yourself unable to do 'normal' things.

But hope your DH continues to be demonstrably loving/affectionate and that it will cheer you up a bit. And you are allowed to moan vociferously too, I think the 35 week point marks the 'oh ffs, will someone get this baby out NOOOOW!' stage that seems to be so popular on MN!

mopsytop · 09/11/2011 11:00

I am sure you are not in the slightest bit repulsive Oi but I totally understand where you are coming from as I feel the same about myself :( I have been wearing the same 2 pairs of maternity jeans and 6 or 7 tops since I was about 15 weeks. SO SICK OF THEM! But don't want to spend money on any more, esp as only 6 weeks to go.

OP posts:
OiMissus · 09/11/2011 12:38

I am happy to report that despite feeling very repulsive, I had one of those "interesting" dreams last night, so rather than let the feelings go to waste, I woke DH and ...he was a very happy boy! Wink and of course it made me feel less ugly!
"this too shall pass!"
Yes! One day soon we will begin to feel comfortable again and shall wear normal clothes. Smile

AwomancalledHorse · 09/11/2011 14:38

Oi, Envy at your dream! I dreamt I was Katie Price. Feckkin nightmare, had sex with Alex Reid and everything, I think my brain hates me!

34wks tomorrow, and I'm hoping that Squatter will make an apperance at 37wks!
Bump has shifted downwards, so I no longer have baby butt or legs in my ribs...tis nice being able to breath again! Hoping that means it's no longer breech?!

Hope everyone is having a great day, despite the discomfort!

OiMissus · 09/11/2011 15:40

Katie Price -euwgh!! Alex Reid - eurghhh! Poor you!
I have really no idea what the dream was, I just woke up feeling very aroused and half way there - this is very common for me at the moment! Blush it must be something to do with all the extra blood being pumped to that region. BlushBlushBlush
