Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

Which reminds me- FairyBayleaf- how's it going? Are you around to update or does anyone know?

LondonGirly · 30/10/2011 10:01

How are the different house tidyings going? We are putting up the cot today, which is a bit of a scary prospect, not long until the baby will be here!

We bought a video baby monitor and had fun yesterday evening watching and then confusing the cats! They didn't know what to make of the voices coming out of it!!

Hospital bag packing hasn't got very far yet - I made a list and started putting things in a bag, have now decided I need a bigger bag!

When are we supposed to start drinking raspberry leaf tea - I got some and have since just left it in the drawer!

Hope you are all having good weekends

NorthernChinchilla · 30/10/2011 12:11

House tidying not going too badly, apart from the fact that as it's been such a hectic fortnight socially and work-wise, I have been sleeeeeeeeping big time. Just gotten up for the second time today [hsmile]

Made OH completely scrub the kitchen yesterday (he will wipe down surfaces semi-regularly, but this was cleaning to my level of acceptability), and I'm doing the bathroom and shower room bit by bit. Other rooms progressing well- it's nesting by proxy!!

Looking forward to the nice part of all this that you're doing london, the 'assembling of the nursery'. Chest of drawers landed yesterday. Bag packing also coming on, went and bought some nightwear and yet more big knickers yesterday too.

Have fun confusing the cats!

OiMissus · 30/10/2011 18:58

Any advice on the best knickers? I need cotton, but need those without the elastic edging - because they are uncomfy. Nothing in M & S. ??

NorthernChinchilla · 30/10/2011 21:02

Have bought some from both Matalan and BHS so far, will probably get some more from somewhere else, so can try them out and experiment when the time comes and then send DP off on very urgent task of getting me more of the best ones [evil cackle emoticon].

mopsytop · 30/10/2011 21:05

I got MAHOOSIVE ones from primarni. Made me have a laughing fit. Got some 16-18s and some 20-22s (full briefs). Granny-tastic. Super cheap. And much more comfy than disposables. Tried a pair on and they're grand. They go half way up even my pregnant belly!!!

OP posts:
mopsytop · 30/10/2011 21:06

not that I have ever worn disposables but I am guessing!

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 31/10/2011 18:56

Good point on primarni, will probably try there too. Have been getting a couple of sizes above my usual as I'm torn between heeding the advice on here and having things fall down. But should probably go for the full-on granny.

Last night was great fun- we had a series of power cuts from about 12.15am onwards. Not uncommon around here, but each time the power went off, and also each time it came back on, it triggered the house alarm of the people directly opposite us. They didn't know how to turn it off. My hatred for them knows no bounds....

Not helped by the fact that junior seems to be kicking the life out me at the moment. Has anyone else noticed a big increase in movement/pain/stretches?
He just seems to be pushing and punching up and out, and repeatedly kicking one spot under my ribs-I though I was going to have to get in the spare bed to give OH some quiet.

As predicted, sitting here in the semi darkness hoping not to get mugged on my doorstep trick or treated by the local kids. Hope you all enjoyed your fabulous parties Envy - any pics?!

OiMissus · 01/11/2011 08:28

We didn't go to the party. We are officially dull. I wasn't in top form this weekend, so couldn't be bothered.
There were quite a few trick or treaters last night, but nowhere near as many as last year, so I'd gone completely OTT on the treats - I've brought them into work and they will supplement the cakes I'll nip out and buy in a min. ( I can't keep them in the house, I can't resist them, and keep making myself feel sick, and then the acid reflux starts...)
The baby is very active at the moment, I think he's just at the point of running out of space and so making the most of it.

mopsytop · 01/11/2011 09:40

Mine was really quiet for a couple of days but it's okay again now, phew! was worried, but it was kicking hard enough to make tummy undulate last night.

Northern I got the knickers enormous. I am a size 12 normally. Although I guess now a size 14 with the preg weight. So I got several sizes up. Because they are full briefs they won't fall down. I thought if I have to stuff a maternity pad in as well better get bigger. Not looking forward to the aftermath of birth AT ALL I have to say :(

OP posts:
OiMissus · 01/11/2011 10:34

Undulations - yep, it's now at the point where I can see the kicks through clothes quite clearly sometimes. My whole tummy seems to move. I haven't been able to discern actual hands or feet yet.

HoneyLovesCake · 01/11/2011 10:43

Morning all; just checking in after my weekend in London. I am flipping exhausted...went to the new Westfield centre in Stratford with the best intentions of buying things from my baby list but there's just too much to see thereShock; can't wait to go back some time next year when I have more energy. I bought some Primark pants & that's about it I've decided to get the list sorted this week online...real life shopping is too draining. Other than that had a good but tiring weekend. Hope everyone's well. I've been having tonnes of BH; which I suppose is a good thing but they're giving me terrible back ache. :(

NorthernChinchilla · 01/11/2011 21:22

Yay, other people joining me on the dull step!

Good point about needing to get a pad in the giant kecks as well- will get some super big Primark ones.

It is the weirdest thing being able to see the kicks through clothes: I remember the first moment (if I had a diary to hand could tell you the actual date) as I was on the Eurostar going off on our little 'before the baby lands' break.

What I find funniest now is that I know which way he's lying- right or left- as his bum pokes out and makes my belly slope off to one side, almost triangular!

Not sure if I've been having BH- which sounds dumb- but whenever I rush for the train my bump aches all the way across and goes hard, which is what they're meant to feel like?...but could just be unrelated muscle tensing?
Sounds like you're having proper ones HLC, although they don't sound like fun at all...

Right, back to committee notes (sigh) and early morning ahead...Sad

YBR · 01/11/2011 22:00

Yep, big increase in pain here - LO has got its feet up under my ribs somewhere, and at times it's so painful I'm beginning to wonder if there's a cracked rib! Then my hips were painful when trying to turn over in bed last night, which is new (although I've been achy). Can't believe I've got 7 weeks left 'till I'm due and it's only going to get worse!

We employed a practical defence against trick-or-treaters involving blocking the path with both the wheely bins. Seemed to work, but then we were also out much of the evening.

kri5ty · 01/11/2011 22:29

0i not sure if you have already... but ring your hospital and ask if you can take a birth pool with you.

Ours allows you to, but it all depends on if their floors have enough support to hold it and the water x

figgygal · 02/11/2011 18:36

I was having BH from about 31 wks but they seem to have stopped I guess it happens?

NorthernChinchilla · 02/11/2011 18:43

Yep, I wasn't expecting these last few weeks to be so painful. Know what you mean about the cracked rib YBR, I felt like I had internal bruising.

Well, only four weeks now left at work. Have got a number of little projects that I must get completed, but what with a long weekend (just seeing family up North) and then a week trying to train up my cover, it doesn't feel like much. As we're such a titchy organisation, it's not like there's anyone internal that can do the work, so this poor bloke is going to get a very crash course in my role..eeeep.

Kri5ty, I'm really surprised about the hospital letting you take in your own pool- I'd really not heard of that before. Hope you have some luck with this Oi.

HoneyLovesCake · 03/11/2011 10:06

Don't think Oi had a pool sorted & as of yesterday she was at the hospital being monitored as contractions had started but slowed...last message from her was on December thread yesterday morning so hopefully we'll hear something soon :) Hope you don't mind Oi...thought you were a bit busy to update both threads!

figgygal · 03/11/2011 11:48

not a good day today my pelvic floor seems to have given up can't manoeuvre it at all from what I can tell, maybe he has engaged? there also seems to be a foot in my ribs I can't get comfy at all when sat down was pacing around the house last night to avoid it. Its not painful just really uncomfortable and weird I keep saying only 5 wks tomorrow but if he won't come out on his own could be another 7..........not going to want that!!!!

mopsytop · 03/11/2011 12:32

hi figgy I feel for you on the rib pain, my baby has had her foot stuck more or less constantly in mine for weeks and weeks. Very uncomfortable and downright painful a lot of the time! But when I can't feel her kicking I worry too. No win situation!

liquorice1 · 03/11/2011 12:36

Misss Rea, Midwife will do infant feeding plan at 32-34 weeks and birth plan at about 36 weeks good luck for December.:)

kri5ty · 03/11/2011 16:22

alreet girlies? Im boreddddd lol

NorthernChinchilla · 03/11/2011 19:00

Ooh yes HLC, I had a quick look over on the December thread after I'd posted and saw what was doing...doesn't sound like the pool birth of her dreams so far but hopefully its improved.

Sprog causing mild discomfort at the moment with his exercising and sticking his bum out, but that was nothing, NOTHING, compared to cramp I got last night. Oh God- both calves, simultaneously, felt the muscles lock and woke up from a dream screaming in pain. OH thought a dash to the hospital was imminent.

And of course, I can't bloody reach my toes to sort it out, can I, so have to push my feet against the tallboy...and then I'm awake for ages as the muscles tweak and I think about a case at work.

Got up to anything in the intervening period to excite you kir5ty?!

HoneyLovesCake · 03/11/2011 20:11

I keep telling DP that labour is going to be easy-peasy after the leg cramps I've been getting Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 03/11/2011 21:13

They are soooo hideous! And the fact that they only come on at night, meaning that I don't get a decent sleep either....bastards.

My Mum's just told me she used to get them really badly in the last month before having me, deep joy.... Am going to search the boards for people's recommendations about what helps. Sympathy vibes over to you too HLC, here's to a peaceful night.
