Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

It is hard sometimes when you are so tired to think about sex. We have slowed down a little also, but we still manage it every couple of weeks (so not really that often, but still!) but lots and lots of hugging and physical closeness in bed every night, 'cos I really need that closeness at the moment. I feel quite needy actually and am often sort of weepy and low (hormones, I suppose) so it's nice.

It is a strange one- I always thought that I'd want sex just as much, but I think you simply don't appreciate how tired you are in pregnancy. Not overwhelmingly knackered, but enough to think 'mmmm, pillows and duvet' rather than 'whoopee, let's get it on'. Then there's the whole odd-shape thing that does not lend itself to sex, not to mention the sciatica/vertigo/spd fun, and that's even before you get to how your OH feels.

I think Oi and mopsy are right, it's about remaining close and intimate if you can, and I'm sorry to hear you're feeling like that's not happening Oi (although delighted to hear you plan a weekend of luuurve, and we'll have to hear how that goes Smile). I have to admit to slightly treating my OH like a teddy bear who also gives massages at the moment, but he seems happy enough, and I'm pregnant and need it, dammit!

Certainly nothing on the cards tonight as I have literally had meetings all day, 9.30am-5.30pm back to back, no break, and even a session over lunch. These are the sorts of evenings where I miss not being able to have a couple of large glasses!

mopsytop · 05/10/2011 18:56

I have the odd glass of wine, I must admit, but I tend to only allow myself on Sat or Sun and only 1-2 units once or twice a week max, as the guidelines say. Don't want to ever allow myself more as I suspect it could be a slippery slope! I really enjoy the odd small glass that I have though I have to say, and I have no worries at all about it, it seems impossible to me that one or two small glasses a week could do anything at all to harm my baby.

I am also LOVING alcohol-free cider at the mo, even though I am not a big cider fan normally.

It's weird, as when I wasn't pregnant I was a PGA golf tour win away from being a sex addict (just with DH, don't mean I was sleeping around like Tiger), but we're only having sex 2/3 times a week now, we still touch each other up & snog on the sofa, but the passion dies (for me anyhoo) when he runs his hand down my bump & Squatter kicks 'hi! I'm here too...I'M WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU HAVE SEX'. Grin

Oi, I'm sorry you're not as intimate as you were before. To help you this weekend..if I catch you anywhere near MN when you should be reconnecting with DH, I'll hunt you down & sit on you. Hope it goes well!

NorthernChinchilla · 05/10/2011 20:11

I'm exactly the same mopsy, I have a small glass of something- wine, a G&T, small bottle of cider- on two weekend nights, and if there's footie on I'll maybe have something then. I have no fears that it's doing anything to sprog, and I enjoy still having that 'treat' when the weekend comes round. Would never drink so I could feel it, if you know what I mean, which is what I'd definitely be doing now otherwise. My aim is to enjoy a couple of large glasses on NYE...and I'll be so unused to it I'll probably be ill! But no, no-one will part me from my 'hooray it's Friday' vodka Grin

AWCH, loving the terminology! But this is it, you can't physically, and often mentally, escape the fact that you're pregnant! TBH, I think my OP went off it to begin with when Bundle kicked him in the kidneys when we were curled up- he can't get over the fact that there's a small, and at the moment incredibly sodding active, human in there...

OiMissus · 05/10/2011 20:14

Sex before pregnancy - it was a whole other world!!! Grin
Ok awch understood!

kri5ty · 06/10/2011 09:56

Yup oi we are the same, I don't feel close at all anymore. It's harder because we sleep in separate beds atm as he gets up at 3am and I can't sleep until about 2 or 3 so I don't want to keep him awake. If we are watching tv he will sit on the other sofa to give me space. I make an effort on hugs when we are 'passing' but there haven't been any snogs for a very long time :-( he is off this weekend, but I can't even make an effort for sex with this annoying thrush!

OiMissus · 06/10/2011 11:00

I had a rubbish last night without DH - he was working away. So the concerted effort to get snuggly starts as soon as we get home tonight.
kri5ty it must be so much tougher on different shifts and in different beds. :(

kri5ty · 06/10/2011 12:35

It is poop, but i keep telling myself its only 2 more months, i know it'll be difficult with the LO, but at least we will be in the same bed! He is taking 6 weeks off work too so that'll be nice :)

yayyyy for the snuggling oi! Mine is on a half day today (well he is working 4-12), so he should be home soon, i think a duvet on the sofa and a dvd may be calling!!

AheadlesswomancalledHorse · 06/10/2011 13:21

:( Sorry you had a shite night OI, yay for the half day kri5ty (sorry about your thrush, yet another fun bit of 'glowing' eh?) & a bigger YAY for the 6 weeks off he's taking, maybe at some point during that you'll have 5 mins peace from LO & be able to spend some time together!

DH has to do a 2 week residential course & another 1 week residential course at some point before the Olympics, we were hoping he would have at least one of them out of the way before December, but it's looking less & less likely (as his dept. doesn't have the funding to send all the people who need the course at the same time), so you just know it'll happen in January.
Plus with the 3 months of no days off they've lined up for all of the Met because of the Olympics...DH will miss almost 4 months of LO's first year. Damn you Seb Coe!

OiMissus · 06/10/2011 14:53

headless? - what happened? :)
And where does the name come from anyway?

NorthernChinchilla · 06/10/2011 18:14

Ooh yes, what prompted the name change AHWCH? Now makes me think of that film with Johnny Depp...Sleepy Hollow, that's it!!

Six weeks is brilliant kri5ty, I keep on hugging myself that DP and I will get three weeks (owing to Xmas bank hols on the end of his paternity leave) together with the baby. We haven't had that much time together, unbroken, since we were students years ago.

(Actually, having little happy fantasies of wandering along the pretty high street, pushing the pram with the wee man in, in the run-up to Xmas Smile).

Hoping for a weekend of affection/sex/bed sharing for all!

lalababy · 07/10/2011 11:25

Oi sorry about the rubbish night... but don't let up on the effort for getting naughty.

I think it is normal for all of us to slow down during pregnancy. DH and I only have sex about once a week at the mo... and apparently it gets worse after the baby. But we do make time each evening (if even only 15 minutes) to cuddle up together, kiss, fondle etc.

AWCH I know what you mean when the baby decided he wants to get involved... but just think in about 3 months... you might have to get it on while the baby is in the room with you Grin

I have an occassional glass of wine too! -Maybe 1 glass every two weeks just makes me feel good....

OiMissus · 07/10/2011 12:51

"while the baby is in the room with you"
Now I understand why cribs have those "bumpers". I have set up the crib, with the bumper, but was going to move it around so that I'd get full view, and pull the crib right up beside the bed. Now I'm thinking that there may be a few nights when the bumper will stay in place - just to make us feel a bit better! Wink

lalababy · 07/10/2011 14:03

Haha... your comment made me laugh out loud oimissus my collegues are probably wondering what on earth I am doing at my desk Grin

figgygal · 07/10/2011 14:05

I am looking forward to a glass of wine tonight work has been manic this week, someone left and hasnt been replaced i have a regional role so had lots of time out of the office and then having to catch up afterwards. They still havent advertised my maternity cover externally (only on an internal secondment opp but the other teams are 100s of miles away so no-one is going to want to have to relocate for a temp post) and i leave in 7 weeks!! ended up doing a 10 hour day yesterday as was behind in preparing for another offsite meeting today. Very much looking forward to the weekend!!

My DH is self employed and works from home and so though he not able to take paternity leave per se he will be there in the house to help out, wondering how long it will take before we are ready to kill each other as planning on being off until some time in June. I will just have to make sure i take the little fella out a lot so he can get peace to get his head down and keep a roof over our heads :)

NorthernChinchilla · 07/10/2011 20:24

Y'know, I don't think I could actually do that... and I know that my OH couldn't have sex whilst the baby's in the room. He's always refused to have sex when we stay at his parents, despite the fact that we're on another floor entirely and the house is massive...he's a bit funny about these things Grin

figgy I'm here with my little vodka and coke; it's been a hell of a few days and as I got off the train I suddenly had a horrible thought that I'd not told the uber boss about a complaint I'm handling against him, which would have meant my head on a plate...thank Christ I found the e-mail where I had let his office know. I felt like I needed a couple of bottles after that....

Picking up the travel system this weekend, soooooo excited, will push it round the house with a chinchilla in as a practice baby!

figgygal · 07/10/2011 20:37

I stuck the skunk on my carry cot last weekend and pushed her about ..... Of course she loved it

NorthernChinchilla · 07/10/2011 21:12

Glad it's not just me then... Smile

kri5ty · 08/10/2011 15:13

Figgy I love it! don't think our cat would let us do that though!!

Aww awch fingers crossed one of the resi will be before!

Its so hard, paternity really should be longer! Oh is taking his 2 weeks paternity, then he gets a weeks paid parental leave, then is taking 3 weeks unpaid. We have been saving the past 7 months, so he can do that, and I could prob afford to take 10 or 11 months.

question does anyone feel like they have a head actually between their legs?? I can't sit or stand today as the pressure feels that great. Plus shooting pains up foo foo ... nice!!

NorthernChinchilla · 08/10/2011 19:38

Not quite a head kri5ty, but pretty similar. Feels like there's loads of pressure down there, and often by the end of day it aches. God how it aches. Like I can only imagine it feels for boys when they've been kicked hard in the balls.

I occasionally get the shooting pains, but they seemed to have calmed down. I think its items 435 and 436 to add to the 'really sexy glamorous bits they don't tell you about pregnancy in advance' list...

Am going to attempt a 'tidy up' down there this weekend, which will be amusing Confused. Having to go by guesswork, feel and mirrors...and have told DP if I accidentally trim into a mohican or 70s footballer comb-over, he's to gently tell me, not hospitalise himself with hysterics.

On a better note, loved the pedicure today, and got the various bits including the travel system safely home...with the "cow-moo-flage" print on the car seat [slightly embarrassed by childish glee emoticon]

kri5ty · 08/10/2011 20:35

northern I just hospitalized myself with hystetics! I couldn't face the salon for a wax as its got that bad... so I diyd... and because I couldnt see a Brazilian turned In to a mohican!

NorthernChinchilla · 08/10/2011 20:53

Oh Jesus, I know I'm going to be the same! I've agreed with myself as long as I don't trim some bits that are actually 'attached', or cause any injury (can you imagine explaining that one to the nice people in A&E?!) I'm going to call it a success, whether my nether regions look like Bobby Charlton or not!

Ah, you've got to smile Grin. Are you going to style the mohican properly, or let it go au naturel?

LondonGirly · 09/10/2011 11:10

Morning ladies,

You have been making me giggle with tidying up down below. Had an interesting time last weeeknd trying, no injuries here, so we'll count that as a success!

Still have my horrid cold - phoned the doctors about the beautiful chesty cough i have and got told pretty much to just deal with it.

32 weeks now - we went and did a lot of baby shopping yesterday, nearly did me in! Got a really cute snowsuit from M&S, with ears, which DH has decided is a requirement! Feel like we are pretty much ready now ...apart from deciding on a name!! Cotbed arrives next weekend.

Anyone else getting more Braxton Hicks - although not sure I noticed any before!

2 more weeks until half term and then the following week start maternity leave. Can't wait - being on my feet all day is too much!!

Oh and start NCT classes on Tuesday - has anyone started their classes already?

figgygal · 09/10/2011 11:46

I think my Braxtonb Hicks have started but not sure it feels like a tightening down the left side of my bump but because that is where he seems to lie as all the kicking i get is there i wonder if it just him doing a full move.

I started my Ante Natal with NHS last week didnt learn anything new that i hadnt read on here or in my books but nice to meet some people and compare bumps. I'm still being told my bump is petite it doesnt feel very petitie i can tell you!! Also starting to get a double chin coming in from the weight gain cant say i like the moon faced look!!
