Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

Am delighted to report that it's tidier, everything is attached, and there's no comb-over in sight, but I am going to double check whilst wearing glasses, just in case.... Glad you're in the same boat London, and we can all dread look forward to doing this again in about a month. Sorry about the cold though- it's crap as you can't take any time off work for it, but you just feel like you're running at about 60% for weeks on end.

Ooooh, can't believe some of you are getting BHs! That must be so weird. Can't say I've had any, but junior's had a somewhat active day that's had me squealing out loud in Pets at Home and during the return car ride.

DP has, true to form, spent the weekend putting together, taking apart, re-arranging, velcroing, adapting, attaching, etc the travel system, and glad he's getting so much fun out of it.
Hope those who were after romantic weekends got them?

triplem · 09/10/2011 16:15

Hi Ladies, it's my first time on Mumsnet, I saw the thread and thought I'd join in. I'm due 19th December! Our Ante Natal starts in 2 weeks, not sure what to expect from it.

I've put on quite a bit of weight so far, 3 stone to be exact! And I'm told this last couple of months I could gain a further 11lbs!!! Please tell me it's not true. xx

NorthernChinchilla · 09/10/2011 16:20

Quick hello to triplem! The scales are not your friend during pregnancy, so ignore as far as possible.

kri5ty · 09/10/2011 19:08

hi triplem how are you getting on/?

yayyy northern well done on the "no injuries" front!! I may style my mohican with some gel? And im feeling pink or purple dye :o

figgygal · 09/10/2011 21:07

Hi triplem join us on the other thread too it's very busy!!

I have my 31 wk appt tomorrow I'm having these increasing thoughts that baby is gonna come early I wonder whether there r any indications to watch out for going to have to ask.

Started packing my bag today wow thats scary!!

mopsytop · 10/10/2011 08:23

Northern and Kri5ty are you sure it's not varicose veins in the vulva? Gross I know but my mother was telling me she felt immense pressure down there when pregnant and I think that's what it was.

London, my classes start next Monday. NHS though, not NCT. Hope I meet some nice people at them!

Hi triplem, welcome to the thread.

I have been ignoring my lady garden but I know I need to do something about it, not being able to see is kind of a problem though - will have to brave the salon at some stage.

To reiterate what I said on other thread, I bought a wardrobe this weekend and also some bits for the maternity bag (maternity pads, with and without wings, lanisoh disposable breast pads, lanisoh cream) and decided on a car seat, just need to go and get it fitted and buy it (spend a whole afternoon looking at Which? reviews before deciding!) and also looked at cots and will buy one this week. So did quite a lot given I have so far bought nothing at all. I am also picking up a big box of clothes and stuff from a friend this coming weekend. So I beginning to get a bit prepared.

Ugh Monday. Want to finish a chapter draft today so better haul my ass to the library. Hope you all have a good day!

OP posts:
NorthernChinchilla · 10/10/2011 19:17

Hey mopsy, hope the drafting went well. Have you been given any extensions on the PHD because of the pregnancy, or is is just 'well you've got years to do it so you can fit a baby in there at the same time' approach?

Don't think it's the dreaded veins- someone on another thread described them as 'fanjo tonsils', and am definitely free of those...

I would definitely say that the adjustable small mirror is the top accessory for tidying...although having said that I shall feel quite hard done by if we don't get pics of kri5ty's newly styled mohican Grin. Quite a hard call on the colour, perhaps silver tips for either?

By the way, I was warned of something else and wanted to see who else has this- whose 'innie' bellybutton is now an 'outie'? Mine's sort of flat, and appears tanned, though not yet the full outie, and just wondered what everyone else's was doing?

mopsytop · 10/10/2011 20:09

Hey Northern, you have to finish within 4 years but you can intermit terms for various reasons, I already intermitted one because of being so ill the first 4 months of pregnancy with migraines and then you can also take maternity leave. But I am actually still hoping to hand in within the original 4 year time frame. If it doesn't work out though at least I'll have the leeway of a few extra terms.

Draft of chapter not quite complete, but tomorrow it will be and I can get on with the next. I am really motivated at the moment, which is good, making the most of it while I can before I get too knackered.

Bellybutton still inny!

OP posts:
OiMissus · 10/10/2011 20:14

Hi all, and a warm welcome to triplem!
belly button is still an innie, but so itchy.
We had a hectic weekend of house viewing and friend visiting, so we didn't get the full intimacy we were planning. But we definitely upped the snog count and the sweetness - and buying a house for our future is pretty romantic, so I'm not too disappointed.
We've made an offer today, and should hear if it's been accepted tomorrow. V exciting! Grin

NorthernChinchilla · 10/10/2011 21:47

Okay, two innies and one flattie...will see how the rest of the stats add up.

If you can keep to the four year time frame, that would be brilliant; I know the fear is always that you'll end up a decade down the line still doing it (I think some people I've known have been the perpetual student types, and used it as an excuse not to go and work/earn, but you sound nothing like them!)

You'll have to post a picture of sprog clutching bound thesis!

Oi, that's all good news. I think given that we're all 7ish months pregnant, then intimacy/snogs/affection counts as much as swinging from the chandeliers- just as long as you both enjoyed yourselves Smile. Getting the house is a lovely moment, and doing that and having a baby together counts as pretty loved up in my book. Fingers X'd your offer gets accepted.

First proper moronic comment from stranger today:
Him (walking behind me as I go upstairs first thing, wearing my rucksack): "Finding it hard going then?"
Me (not actually huffing or anything, cheerful): "I'm getting on fine, thanks, coping"
Him: "Well, it's your own fault!"

Que?!?

OiMissus · 11/10/2011 07:41

Yeah, that'll teach you.
Wink

mopsytop · 11/10/2011 07:51

People are idiots! Although a nice lady offered me her seat on the bus yesterday. As I'd been sitting in the library all day I didn't need it, as standing was actually a relief - baby had foot wedged in right ribs all day - ow!

God Northern I just want to get this finished! I am hoping to have a first draft of all my chapters before the baby, then I can get on with redrafting afterwards which hopefully make it easier to get back into. Don't want to straggle on for ages, apart from anything else I want to get back earning! My funding has run out and having no income is not much fun. I guess I should have waited until after handing in to get pregnant , but I am not getting any younger either and I just decided that there is no perfect time. Was worried about waiting and then finding I couldn't get pregnant. Right on that note, must go get dressed and down to library!

Midwife appointment later on, I am 29+2 - do they start getting more frequent after this now?

OP posts:
OiMissus · 11/10/2011 08:26

My appointments have been every 4 weeks - 28, 32, 36wks. then from 36 weeks, they see you every 2 weeks - as long as you aren't having any problems.
Good luck with the drafting.

kri5ty · 11/10/2011 10:35

Belly buttons... mine is a glorious outie that can be seen through clothes and gets hard when I cough/ laugh / sneeze!

mopsy it was higher up than my vulva, but I guess we have that to look forward to! It was a massive pressure... felt like if I had looked up my foofoo I would have seen his head! I couldn't stand, walk or even sit! Mentioned it to mw yesterday and she said 'he could have engaged then moved again' very helpful information for a 1st time mum!

northern photos of my mohican... wow there HAS to be a market for that! Lol

oi fingers crossed Eeee exciting times x

HoneyLovesCake · 11/10/2011 10:52

Hey ladies, last week's scan went well...placenta is clear of cervix so no CS thank goodness!!

Lots to do now to prepare for my homebirth; I'm trawling ebay for a pool & tens machine ...trying to keep costs down. Feels like there's tonnes to do; I'm really impressed by all of you with bags packed; I've pretty much decided not to bother...unpacking bags is a pet peeve of mine & I'm not going to need it anyway since I'll be birthing at home.

Will probably have a "post-birth basket" holding the basics, outfits for me & LO, maternity pads & nappies but that is it. sounds terribly disorganised & a bit naive I know but I've just got too much on my plate with work & house renovations to worry about it.

I think Lansinoh cream has been mentioned on a few lists & it's quite pricey so I thought it was worth a mention that it's apparently available on prescription...not sure if they'll prescribe it before LO is born though Hmm think I'll ask my MW at next appt.

HoneyLovesCake · 11/10/2011 12:39

BTW my innie is now an outie & I hate it. Sorry for those of you with natural outies but it creeps me out...like a little nose sticking out of my belly...yuck!

lalababy · 11/10/2011 13:36

My belly button is still an innie... but I cant wait for it to pop out. It is usually so deep that I can't even stick my finger in till be back! I can't stop wondering what it looks like right at the end. Okay... I know that it weird... but who isn't obsessed with their body... esp during pregnancy!

I am 30 weeks at the mo - and the baby is still kicking up a storm and then loves to hang out in my ribs as well.

I am starting to practice my breathing, listening to rainbow relaxation etc and plan to give this hypnobirthing malarky a real try! Any thing to help my body with childbrith. Although I have told my DH that I haven't ruled out drug induced assistance just yet.

lalababy · 11/10/2011 13:38

kri5ty your FooFoo hahaha Grin is that the term we are using now! I can just imagine you in labour... the midwife going we can now see the baby's head emerging from your foofoo!

triplem · 11/10/2011 13:40

Hi again, you ladies are hilarious! I think I actually went a little red at work while reading about lady gardens, glad it's not just me thinking these things.

All is going good thanks for asking kri5ty, mainly aches and pains. I have 10 weeks to go, hope it doesn't get worse. Any ideas on how I can stop hips hurting at night? x

figgygal · 11/10/2011 13:45

Am having such a shit day, last night my parents announced they are coming to stay with us 15th December to 23rd December flights are booked. Since husband works in 3rd bedroom with a single bed and the double room has been converted into nursery we have only 1 spare bed, now don?t get me wrong I do want them to come, we live 100s of miles apart and won?t have seen them for 3.5 months by time they come, they want to see their grandchild but I might have not had him yet, if I have I will want some time to myself to recover and set some sort of routine 8 days of them in the house seems a bit much. They are either going to have to stay with us and we are going to have to sort something out or I will have to tell them to stay in a hotel and give them one of our cars to get around with, seems miserable really.

DH went mental predictably about it and now I am going to have to have a very difficult conversation with my mum. This morning DH fish tank has broken down so he got hysterical about that and how many of his fish are going to die with the filtration system not working, that he couldn?t find stuff and it must be because I had moved it had a massive row about it and then about last night?s announcement again.

Got to work to find out that something I had been forced to rush through has been done wrongly at a cost to the business so had to correct and resubmit it?I am anally methodical normally so knew this would happen and feel it is going to reflect badly on me. Also been working on achieving my chartership in my professional body and have been working on it when I can over the last few months, just found out they have changed the upgrade process so I can literally throw hours of work done on it out of the window and have to duplicate the effort to come up with what they now want. I honestly thought I was going to cry at my desk.

Feeling really stressed which is not like me really wish I could just wake up tomorrow and it be the end of November and miss the next 6 weeks. I have ante natal tonight I might speak to the midwife. Sorry for the moan.

figgygal · 11/10/2011 13:46

oh and it is still an innie at the moment but dont think it will be much longer!!

lalababy · 11/10/2011 13:57

Figgy I totally sympathise... my mum is coming to stay with us because I asked her to help us out. However, my in laws wanted to come and stay with us during the birth of their first grandchild... and I went balistic at my DH and told him that either they could stay or I would stay. Not that I don't like them or anything...but the same issues, not enought room, not sure when the baby will be born... etc. On the plus side, they were understanding... so maybe your difficult conversation with your folks wont be that bad. If you can find a place for them to stay close by then they can see the kiddo, help you out and still have space.

lalababy · 11/10/2011 14:00

Oh and try not to worry too much about work... try this mantra is "I am having a baby and qualifying for chartership is no where near in importance to the changes that about to happen in my life!!! And lets see how many people at work have the balls to have a go at me while I am visibly preggers! And lets see how many of these people I can scare off byt acting hormonal!" Grin

kri5ty · 11/10/2011 14:22

Big hugs figgy :(
triplem have you tried putting pillows between your knees when you're in bed? Ps yup we are all a little mental here!
lala mine is actually named Jemima... as when I was little that it what I mistakenly thought people called it! But if I'm talking to other people foofoo does the job :-D

OiMissus · 11/10/2011 15:29

lala I'm so paranoid about "acting preggers" at work, I don't want people (bosses) to think that I am any weaker for it. They are all male, and when I'm one of the lads, we get along great - really great. But they have the ability to be complete heartless wa**ers, when they want to be. If I show weakness, I may weaken my position.
Triplem - definitely place a good pillow between your legs at night, or rest your top leg on a pillow, if you normally cross it over.
Have you got a gym ball? You can pick them up fairly cheaply - anything frmo e-bay 7-8£, to full price £17 ish, and they are good in the evenings when your joints are tired. Sit down, get the X factor on, and do little thrusts forward, figures of 8, etc., this helps strengthen your joints as well as stopping them seizing up. (I'm 5'2", and bought the 65cm size diameter one, and it is fine for me.)
A foo foo named jemima. I have heard it all. Grin
Yes, forgive us triplem, we strangers stopped being polite and pretending to be nice quite a while ago, you've got some catching up to do. There's no shame or embarrassment here!
