Had to start a new thread, as our old one got too big to post anymore.
yay figgy - your scan sounds great! A wee boy - now you only have to think about boy names. Woohoo.

I am thinking that the sickness and dizziness only stopped a week ago for me (I'm 24 weeks today) and they say the tiredness comes back with a vengeance when you hit the third trimester so I am just trying to get everything done. Us December new mummies have the added pressure of Christmas too, so having a bit of a panic about that, I even started to look at designs for my home made cards last weekend!!

Does anyone else's tummy suddenly goes lopsided when the baby moves to one side? That freaks me out too. yep lots of freaking out at the moment.

NorthernChinchilla · 08/09/2011 21:49

My Dad took my Mum to see the first Alien when she was about 7 months pregnant with me... no wonder they're divorced! It's one of those weird things that I find odd, but then if he doesn't do for a while, find myself sneakily prodding my belly wanting him to 'perform'/for reassurance.

Just had the ceasar salad AWCH so was OK, but know what you mean- generally try to eat smaller meals with fruit or nuts for snacks, and if I try for any more than one course (as I did on hols, in a kind of 'oooh, let's celebrate' way) then I feel like I'm going to pop and can't breath.

And frankly I think it should be law that pregnant women get massages on demand from either partners or the state- it's a neces sity! Have to say my DP is being pretty good about it...

I think the random panics and purchasing sessions are all part of the first-timers', erm, joy!? But whatever you do starjules DON'T MENTION THE C-WORD! It's not allowed to happen this year, it's official....

NorthernChinchilla · 08/09/2011 21:50

....and just to break my own rule, I heard the first advert for Xmas on the radio on Wednesday and got my first invite to a NYE party today Shock
How many shades of wrong is that?!

LondonGirly · 09/09/2011 06:46

Anyone else getting cramp in their legs at night?

So glad it is Friday today, this weekend I shall mainly be sleeping!!

star for the last couplebof weeks the tiredness has started again, but now officially in the third trimester. But scary that the baby is seen as being term in 9 weeks!! (Going off the 37 week thing)

What do people have planned for the weekend?

YBR · 09/09/2011 07:19

Cramps - yes definitely! Last weekend I woke with the most excruciating calf cramp which my DH had to attack massage for me. It took 2 days to return to normal and every time I stood up I had to stretch it out before I could walkSad!
MW was unhelpful on the matter but a friend who runs lots recommended tonic water/bitter lemon and/or bananas i.e. quinine and/or potassium.

On a different topic, my DH seems to have received a huge doses of nesting hormones from somewhere. I know it is partly because he's recently unemployed but still! He seems to be planning to do every DIY project we ever dreamt about, as well as applying for jobs (when there are any). Anyone else getting this?

OiMissus · 09/09/2011 07:39

Morning all, my DH has told me what I'm doing this weekend - resting, and watching him do all the jobs around the house. I told him that in that case, I would be writing lists of things for him to do. :)
Everyone told me to wait for the cramps and the heartburn (you know those happy messages you got when you announced you were pregnant?) - luckily I have had neither so far. I do feel incredibly uncomfy after a meal though - and it happens every night still - I won't learn that this time, really, my eyes are bigger than the space in my belly!

Sorelip · 09/09/2011 10:37

I woke up with calf cramp this morning, and startled DH with my screams of "No, no, NOOOO!"

Awomancalledhorse · 09/09/2011 13:55

figgy, Shock you're never allowed to link stuff again! You made my insides tingle with that one. Is anyone else really scared of tearing? Just saying the word 'tearing' now makes me feel a little queasy!

YBR, I may have to borrow your DH! Mine has gone the opposite way (even though we have loads of jobs to do around the house). Hope your DH finds a great job soon!

Saw the MW today, she gave me one of those London Transport 'Baby on Board' badges, I demand to be seated!!

Stupid question, when IS the 3rd trimester? I thought it was 26wks, but have been reading some stuff that says 24wks?

Hope everyone has a nice, relaxing weekend! London, I'm planning on doing as little as possible Grin

OiMissus · 09/09/2011 15:23

AWCH - from what I've seen, T3 starts at 27 weeks.
Tearing is a bad word. Such words aren't allowed. But whilst you have said it, take this piece of advice (provided at the aquanatal class on Sunday). When your body is screaming at you to push, and you really want the baby out, but your midwife says "Don't push". And you think, "Stuff you, midwife, this baby is F---ing coming out!!" STOP. Listen to your midwife. She's probably trying to stop you tearing - if she's in a position to see what you can't. This is also very important under an epidural. :)
Other advice if there is any tearing, is never to go to the loo without a jug of gently warm water to pour over you whilst you pee. (Aquanatal is so good for advice!)

LondonGirly · 09/09/2011 17:28

I thought the 3rd trimester was 28 weeks, its all a bit confusing!!

I'm on the tonic water in the hope ybr that your friend is right about it helping cramp!

starjules · 09/09/2011 18:00

aarrgghhh feel terrible again today, does anyone else have some days great then the next can hardly walk with back/hip pain? Sickness is back again today too. I think I will mostly be having a moan this weekend.

mopsytop · 09/09/2011 18:04

I sympathise starjules. I feel terrible most days! If it's not one thing, it's another. Would LOVE a week of glowing pregnancy where I feel fab but becoming resigned to the fact that it is perhaps not for me. It isn't forever is my constant self-refrain! My lower back/bum pain is sometimes so bad I can scarcely walk, sometimes fine. It is weird. Think it might relate to carrying stuff - if I carry anything even remotely heavy (not even very heavy, actually) it gets really bad, so avoiding that now. My birth ball should arrive tomorrow - can't wait!

OP posts:
starjules · 09/09/2011 18:22

Thanks mopsy, I have only felt ok for a week I thought the 2nd trimester was when we all feel wonderful and glowing! I am getting a ball from Argos this weekend you all seem to rave about them and tbh I will try anything now.

NorthernChinchilla · 09/09/2011 18:54

mopsy I'd definitely knock off carrying anything heavier than a sandwich. I know that it kicks off my sciatic pain. The only thing I have is a rucksack for work, and that's not too bad as it's central and on my back. However- and you may find this the case too- carrying anything on one side is a killer: laptop, shopping, etc, so I'd avoid that too.
Bungy flat shoes and soft things to sit on also rock (see previous comments about being an old woman....)

I've wondered about T3 too, and have been working on 27 weeks.

And yes, along with 'Christmas', 'tearing', 'forceps', 'prolapse', 'incontinence' and 'stitching' are all very, very banned...

mopsytop · 09/09/2011 19:07

Thanks Northern, yeah I will do, as it seems to be a major trigger. Sometimes a bit unavoidable but have said to my husband we'll have to do shopping on the weekends so he can carry.

OP posts:
OiMissus · 09/09/2011 20:19

Due to the banned words list, those who give birth first will have to report harmonious, joyous births... And then when the last of us have reported in, the truth will come out!

NorthernChinchilla · 09/09/2011 20:25

Yup, it's been a right giggle trying to get things to and from work when you don't drive and can't carry anything. I've even done things like getting a hose for the garden because carrying the watering can set it off! But like you say, some times it's unavoidable and then...ooooowwww....!

Sounds like moaning, sleeping and getting OHs to do all the work is the order of the weekend for most of us. I'm taking my little sis out for lunch and shopping as it's been her 14th, so it's something 'grown up' to do for us two, and then back over to see the family. Plus we get all the second hand stuff like the cot tonight, so nursery will actually start to look like one- hurrah!

NorthernChinchilla · 10/09/2011 10:13

Hmmmph... Dad forgot to bring the bloody nursery stuff over Sad Wish there were a grumpy/pissed off face. So can bring some stuff back tomorrow, but can't fit it all in car.

Hope his memory improves when his first grandchild actually arrives....

LondonGirly · 11/09/2011 18:08

Northern how frustrating! Did he bring things over today?

DH is being a star and cooking dinner, am suffering a little this weekend, definitely need to put feet up more.

Have a growth scan tomorrow and next mw appointment on Tues.

NorthernChinchilla · 11/09/2011 21:12

Hmmm....MN threw a wobble then, and so if this double posts I apologise..

Brought some of it back this weekend thanks londongirly although like many have been feeling pretty crap. Could have done without little sis' birthday and visit to parents, and have been off sleeping whenever possible, but have just felt drained in a very T1 one way.

Let's hope we're all feeling a little brighter next week.

mopsytop · 13/09/2011 10:20

Hey everyone, have my 25 week midwife appt later. I suppose it's just the usual urine test, bp and heartbeat? I love hearing the heartbeat though I have to say! Tomorrow have physio appt for this PGP, hope it helps. got a birthing ball and starting sitting on it yest, but my middle back is still really sore from it. Think it's just out-of-practice muscles proving how badly I normally slouch.

lalababy · 13/09/2011 12:14

Hey all... jsut been busy trying to do up the house before the arrival of the baby boy... (still nameless!)

Had my 25 week appointment last week and the Dr said all was going well. I have to say, having the appointment with my GP was significantly more enjoyable that with the MW in the hospital. There was no waiting, she is super nice and more importantly I could actually understand what she was saying! Plus it was so good being able to hear the heartbeat again.

Next week I have a glucose tolerance test... hope that it goes well. Fingers crossed!!!

Finding the heartburn... not being able to eat... tough.. and the lil monster is kicking and moving like crazy! Really weird when seeing it from the outside!

LondonGirly · 13/09/2011 14:24

Lots of mw appointments for us all this week! I've got my 28 week one today!

lala I had the gtt done a couple of weeks ago, make sure you take a book or something to entertain you for the two hours in-between the first and second blood test. The drink was fine!

Have you tried milk with heartburn? It seems to help a little.

Had a growth scan yesterday, he is going to be a big baby. Have another scan at 34 weeks to see how he is doing.

The third trimester tiredness has definitely hit! When are you all starting maternity leave?

mopsytop · 13/09/2011 15:30

The 25 wk appointment is pretty quick and boring isn't it? BP, test of urine, measure bump, listen to heartbeat. Nice to hear its heartbeat mind! I moved town, so it was all a bit confused as I saw a different midwife to the one who rang me. I need new bloods done and the GTT but she didn't realise until I arrived so going back next week for the bloods. I am measuring 26 weeks and I am 25+2 so I think that's ok. I am really tired too London but don't think I am in 3rd tri yet.
