Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

really carlita? its seriously gross. i'll swap if you like!! when your used to an 'inny' its not right seeing an 'outy'. blughh, its all sticky outy thru my clothes. shudders.....

KikiRC · 21/11/2011 22:49

Lovely to read all your messages this evening. Congrats, Dorcas on your girl.

I spent quite a proportion of the early evening playing 'Peek a boo' with a one year old (everyone is handing over their babies to me 'for practice'!) Then I went straight to a meeting with a slouchy jumper on, and had to speak in front of about 30 people- not a single one of them noticed my bump. I'm beginning to get a taste of how strange it must be to move between baby circles and work circles, it's all so very different.

I'm still very much an 'inny' and hoping I stay that way. A small bump with a big pokey-out belly button would just look silly!

Carlitawantsababy · 22/11/2011 16:18

feekerry yes! Really! I see the outy as part of pregnancy and only found out it doesn't happen to everyone when I started getting impatient about when it would happen for me. Very annoyed that it might not happen at all! It makes the bump extra special not having a dip in it! DH thinks I'm odd too but I want it!
kiki cute re peekaboo! I don't know anyone with babies in England so no practice for me yet (though my nieces will arrive in 1-2 weeks Grin) I don't think an outy would look odd with a small bump, bumps come in all sizes!
My little boy is kicking so much these days, it's wonderful! Grin

I seriously don't want an outie, kind of freaks me out, I mean that's a part of my body that hasnt seen daylight in 35 years!
Is anyone else starting to get really tired again? I have been fine for the last few weeks but have been absolutely shattered the last couple of days.
Will this be the first time you are an auntie Carlita?

KikiRC · 23/11/2011 13:38

Dorcas, I'll be 23 weeks tomorrow & I've been feeling really tired this week. I wasn't sure if it was general pregnancy tiredness, or work things & a bit of a cold. I certainly feel like I'm slowing down a bit...

feekerry · 23/11/2011 19:35

hmm i'm not too bad on the tiredness front, managed to go to the cinema last night and watch a film that ended at 11pm!! Shock
i'm nearing 24 weeks now and starting to feel a bit large and uncomfortable. keep getting leg cramps which are rather painful and sometimes she must get in a position and i really feel it. like a kick near my hip, really quite uncomfortable. hey ho, onwards we go Grin

Carlitawantsababy · 23/11/2011 21:48

Yes dorcas first time. Will be crazy with twins I'm sure! I'm not tired yet (23 weeks on Friday) good to have the heads up though, I'll try to make the most of it! Smile

DorcasGailen · 24/11/2011 06:24

feekerry I am impressed, the only time i am up at that time of night these days is to pee!
I loved being an auntie, I haven't seen my nephews for over a year now as they all live in Canada, I was going to go and see them this Christmas but pregnancy kind of scuppered that. At least you will get someone elses child to practice on before you have your own! I have only ever changed one nappy and that was over 10 years ago.

Wordweaver · 24/11/2011 08:23

Hello, I'm a bit late making myself known but may I join you? I'm due on March 21st. I bring with me an innie belly button, killer back ache, a squirmy team yellow first time baby and a craving for chocolate that can strike at any moment. Oh, and size dd breasts that seem to have appeared overnight. Hello bio oil.

KikiRC · 24/11/2011 11:13

Hello Wordweaver & yellow wriggler! Welcome. I think there are a few of us due around 21st/22nd/23rd so you're in good company.

I discovered baby oil gel recently- 'cos it's fairly cheap you can lather it on, so I'm feeling very soft- though I love the smell of bio oil.

X

broodylicious · 24/11/2011 11:58

Hi wordweaver Smile
My MIL bought me a few things from the sanctuary range of mum to be stuff - the stretch mark oil and collagen boosting body cream. Both smell divine and seem to be keeping those dreaded lines away and my skin soft so id recommend them both.

Re tiredness - omg, I'm exhausted again! I thought it was the season/dark/cold but reading your messages, now I am sure it's baby related.

I'm 23 weeks on sunday btw so sounds as though there's quite a few of us due that week. 17 weeks and 3 days to go...Grin

Wordweaver · 24/11/2011 12:17

Thanks!

I am hoping I have inherited my mum's genes - she never had a single stretch mark!

I have my next midwife appt a week today - I'm just measuring time in little increments at the moment.

I am 23+1 - seems to have gone amazingly quickly. Although I did get married when I was 16 weeks, so that took up a good deal of my thinking time in the early stages.

Carlitawantsababy · 24/11/2011 13:34

Welcome wordweaver good to have you here. I should expect the tiredness soon then?! I'm still fine being up till 12! Then again the PGP limits me a great deal physically so I'm maybe saving on energy. Got my first stretch mark today! Not too Sad about it as was fully expecting it, I have some on my hips from when I was a teenager so knew I was genetically predisposed! Besides, I'm sure he'll be worth every line! Grin

OP posts:
Wordweaver · 24/11/2011 13:44

Thanks Carlita. Sorry to hear you have PGP - I am waiting for a physio appt to find out if that is what my back pain is all about.

I'm nowhere near as tired as I was in the first 12 weeks. I do find that when I lie down to go to sleep, that's when baby starts to start dancing!

Carlitawantsababy · 24/11/2011 13:49

Grin another dancing baby! Have you had a look at the pelvicpartnership website? 'tis very good for PGP info. Sorry if you have it though..not nice. I know a lot about it now and have lots of tips so let me know of there's anything I can help with! Smile

OP posts:
Wordweaver · 24/11/2011 14:20

Thanks - yes, I have looked on there and I went to the doctor armed with info! I am just trying to be careful at the moment, and hoping the appt comes through quickly.

And yes, this baby is certainly active. VERY weird to see your stomach move!

NorthernGirlie · 24/11/2011 17:15

Ooh - the Sanctuary stuff sounds lovely - I'm using Superdrug oil at the moment and quite like the smell but may have to treat myself...

Just been for my 25 week check - bloodpressure is all oer the place and have to go to the hospital tomorrow for a 3 / 4 hour monitoring session - anyone else had to do this??

feekerry · 24/11/2011 20:46

hello wordweaver! welcome.
northern dont worry i'm sure all will be fine. i think blood pressure can be a bit erratic in pregnancy. what are they checking for tomorrow? do you know?xx

KikiRC · 24/11/2011 21:16

Northern- I think BP can fluctuate a lot depending if you've been busy/ a bit stressed etc- so they probably just want to get an accurate reading over a longer, settled time period. I'm also being monitored more regularly than usual (I see the MW every 6 weeks) because I've had kidney problems in the past & this puts me at higher risk of a high BP during pregnancy. All seems OK so far, fingers crossed, they just like to be sure. Good luck for tomorrow. x

Carlitawantsababy · 24/11/2011 21:31

Good luck for tomorrow northern
I too use the sanctuary stuff, it smells amazing, DH got me the mum to be box a few months back, you get bath soak, bump butter, stretch mark oil and leg and foot gel. Must remind him I haven't had the pleasure of the latter yet! Grin

OP posts:
NorthernGirlie · 24/11/2011 23:00

Thanks Ladies - tomorrow is for BP and 'baby monitoring' whatever that means. I've had severe (think elephant like) unexplained swelling in my legs / feet (mainly left one) for weeks (had DVT scans etc - all inconclusive) so that with the erratic blood pressure has resulted in the monitoring. The midwife got 5 very different readings in the space of 35 mins today. Crossing my fingers but worrying a bit too - hate hospitals and usually avoid them like the plague!

Carlitawantsababy · 25/11/2011 15:07

How did it go northern? Everyone else okay? I'm off to see Arthur Christmas 3D tonight! It's about time to get Christmassy! Grin

OP posts:
feekerry · 25/11/2011 21:22

hope it went okay northern - update us when you can.x
i feel very christmassy this year carlita must be the impending baby!!

have a good weekend everyone

x

Carlitawantsababy · 26/11/2011 08:36

Film was very good, feeling very festive! As you say feekerry must be the impending baby. DH and I were talking about ideas of Christmas traditions to start for him which was lovely. I know the magic won't really kick in until he's 3 ish but still, fun to plan it all!Smile

OP posts:
feekerry · 26/11/2011 14:23

i was going to start a thread in pregnancy about this but thought i'd do it here as were all going thru the same thing (and if i'm being totally irrational you'll all understand Grin

whats your feelings on after birth visiting etc from family and friends???
the reason i ask as i'm becoming increasingly worried that its going to be a total nightmare and i'm worried i am going to snap at someone (mainly MIL!!)
basically, mine and DP's thoughts were, if it was a relatively straightforward birth i.e. in and out hospital within 48 hours type of thing then we wouldn't have any visitors to the hospital. it would just be the 3 of us, a little time to adjust etc and when we got home grandparents could visit. my reason for this is they never keep you in hospital for long and i just dont want hoards of folk turning up when i'm all sore etc etc. plus my mum has always said she felt fiercely protective of me in hospital and positioned my bed the other side of her so no one could touch or hold me. totally get this. secondly, my MIL is quite 'intense' and i just dont think i can put up with it.
when we told grandparents about the above, my mum and dad were cool, saying yep totally agree, hospital time is your time as a new family, we'll meet her when you get back. when i told my MIL she muttered a comment as i was leaving the room like 'huh, we'll soon see about that!' Shock
i've had other little comments from her, things like, oh i'm taking a few days annual leave when she's born for endless cuddles..... and to be honest i'm feeling a bit annoyed by the whole thing. i really think she is expecting to march straight in when she's born and take her from me and spend 'endless days' cuddling her. at the moment i dont even feel like letting anyone holding her when she's here. lets say she's asleep on me/cot etc when people visit, is it reasonable for them to pick her up. i dont think so but maybe i'm just over reacting.....agghhh. Sad why does this wind me up so much!!!!
