Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

feekerry if you look at their website they give instructions of how to turn over, you don't have to move the pillow but no idea if it'd be more trouble than it was worth.
kiki thanks for the tips, my step dad has said collier road was particularly nice too? Anyway, glad we're on the right track with the west hill, yes, we want to be within walking distance of the old town for sure, don't mins being 25 mins walk in ore area either though (that's where parents live) good point about the steps, will keep that in mind though I do plan to mostly sling carry that will be reliant on PGP outcome! Getting excited now!
I have had my bump (steadily growing) since about 10 weeks! Everyone keeps commenting on how big it is but hey, I'm happy with it and it'll even out in the end!
knitterati, feekerry and kiki thanks for the warning re BH, I haven't had any but it's good to know it might happen!
Have any of you been booked in to antenatal classes yet? I'd like to so them in Hastings ideally so I have a chance to meet some people too and am not tempted on the London ones as my midwife runs her own and I hate her we don't exactly see eye to eye.

No such reassurance I'm afraid Sad - my regular MW is on holiday, no answer from the community team or other MW I met, so got an call back from one of the doctors, who was about as sympathetic and reassuring as my kitchen sink. Angry
He said it was too early for BH (Dr. Google disagrees), that it was probably a dodgy tummy (except I haven't had any s&d), and that the only thing he'd suggest was to go in for an internal examination (eerr, with your attitude so far, no thanks). So am at home resting up & haven't had any "BH" type twinges for a few hours.

I'm so upset & annoyed at the lack of reassurance/availability of MW, doctors etc.

Carlitawantsababy · 24/10/2011 13:05

kiki is mount pleasant road a no no in your opinion? My mum says it's a very main road? We need to be confident whatever we buy will appeal to others once we've done it up?

Sorry I haven't been around for a while, had a car accident last Wednesday. I have got whiplash, but was very worried about the baby, I got checked out at Hospital and they listened to the babies heart, so I was reassured that all is ok. I am 18+4 today, will add my scan date to the stats.

feekerry 1st November- predicting a girl
Esme 3rd November - keeping the sex a surprise (am guessing boy though)
carlita 4th November - predicts boy
knitterati 4th Nov (prob not finding out sex, initially think it's a girl, but now having my doubts)!
Moffit 8th November - keeping the sex a surprise........not even guessing!
Kiki 11th November. Initially had a girl inkling, now not so sure!

Carlitawantsababy · 24/10/2011 14:59

Goodness moffit! So glad you and your baby are okay, that must have been terrifying!

OP posts:
feekerry · 24/10/2011 15:53

knitterati my mid wife team said totally normal to get them around the begining of second trimester but they should never be painful or uncomfortable. Mine are quite enjoyable in a way. But if your sore or uncomfortable maybe you should go back. Just to be on the safe side?x moffit glad your and bump are okay. Its your worst nightmare something like that happening. X

KikiRC · 24/10/2011 16:58

Moffit that must have been really worrying- glad it's all OK.

Knitterati- I'd say my 'BH' have been mildly uncomfortable, but if I roll over & change position etc, it goes. It's more like a sudden very 'full' or tight feeling, not painful.

Carlita, Mount Pleasant Rd is very busy- also it's not particularly near anything or an inspiring area. If you're thinking of resale I'd say the most popular areas are the Old Town, The 'nicer' end of the West Hill, Clive Vale (which is up towards Ore on the other side of the road- lots of families up there), the roads alongside Alexandra Park and the Mercatoria area of St Leonards. Honestly though- I'd really just walk everywhere and get a proper feel of it- because there are so many hills the maps are really misleading & can be quite a surprise. Also re: the steep steps on the hill(s)- they get quite icy and slippery during the winter months, so just consider that. Mind you, the whole of Hastings including the trains close down at the slightest hint of snow! X

Carlitawantsababy · 24/10/2011 19:55

Thanks kiki our budget is rather erm, modest even for Hastings as I plan on being a stay at home mum so we can't afford the old town or the nicer end of the west hill so just going with as near as we can afford at the moment! Smile

Thanks for the advice Feekery & Kiki based on the fact my tummy has been quite painful, DH went out on a mercy mission for peppermint tea & wind eze. Hoping it's trapped wind! I blame the healthy pulses I ate yesterday Blush no thanks to the useless doctor... I didn't even realise that trapped wind could be a problem in pregnancy.

KikiRC · 24/10/2011 20:38

Everyone's always on a budget in Hastings, Carlita, especially me! The market's a bit slow around here at the moment, so I wouldn't rule anywhere out yet- you may be able to make a cheeky offer. I moved down from London on my own about four years ago & traded the equivalent of a 1 bed basement flat in an unfashionable bit of East London for a 2/3 bed quirky place on a back street in the Old Town. I don't have a garden, but it suits me fine. Though if you want a bigger place and a garden etc then maybe Clive Vale or further along the West Hill would be good. There's also another bit of the West Hill which is nearer to the town centre- Milward Rd & around there. It seems a bit more affordable & good sized places with gardens. Also, don't rule out St Leonards 'til you've had a proper look around- there are some ridiculous bargains to be had, & a lot of it is really quite nice. I know lots of people living over there very happily.

Hope you're feeling better knitterati. Have you eaten any very spicy food? Usually I like it the spicier the better, but I can't handle it at the mo- I had a terribly uncomfortable tummy after a Thai curry a while back. X

broodylicious · 24/10/2011 20:41

Evening all! [waves]

I got mothercare's version of dream genii last week and it's fantastic, can fully recommend it. I only had a week of rough nights but since I got my pillow, I've slept so much better [cheers]

Re ante natal classes - we've booked on to our local NCT classes and start in January. Really looking forward to it as my best friends don't have babies and live 50 odd miles away. My mates here are all involved with horses so no time or inclination for babies Wink NCT should help me make new friends here I hope.

What's the situation with the 20 week scan/no DP involved at the start? Pls can someone tell me? Xx

broodylicious · 24/10/2011 20:46

Ooh forgot to tell you all the most exciting bit.... I felt our baby kick for the first time last night!! GrinGrin felt amazing. Then woke up at 330am with him/her kicking again and at 930am it started again!
Are any of you getting frequent kicks like this? X

KikiRC · 24/10/2011 21:02

Broody- I think it's only in very particular areas (Sunderland is one) where they don't let the dad in for the early part of the scan- and they warn you in advance, so if it's not been mentioned, I wouldn't worry.

Good to know about the pillow. I'm getting frequent kicks, too. Usually always first thing & when I go to bed & through the night, plus when I eat or drink (especially something hot or cold). X

Carlitawantsababy · 24/10/2011 22:10

I'd been feeling movements but first kick tonight! Grin
Thanks kiki that's really helpful, we are looking at half the sale price of our 1 bed NE London flat to buy a 2/3 bed house but there are still options for us out there! Got 4 to see on Saturday so far. Smile

feekerry · 24/10/2011 22:15

hi broody
yep i've been feeling quite noticeable pokes and taps now. none of this fluttering/bubbles now, more definate poking and thuds!!!
and also- my bump is huge now. i'm slightly concerned as to whats nesting in there!!!!

Moffit · 25/10/2011 11:08

Thanks Ladies, I am feeling better now, just got to see the osteo twice a week to help my neck and shoulders. Glad to hear that you are all doing well and feeling movements, I am desperate to be feeling my little one move, hopefully wont be too much longer now.

Regarding the 20 week scans, I'm pretty sure that they dont let the dad in at my hospital until after they have done all of the relevent checks first. I thought that was the standard proceedure.

Carlitawantsababy · 25/10/2011 17:16

Yay feekerry glad I'm not the only one with a huge bump! Grin

KikiRC · 25/10/2011 18:23

Hi ladies,

I've got a query for you. I'm going to dinner at some people's house who I don't know all that well. My DP won't be going. Should I still take a bottle of wine, even though I won't be drinking? I was going to take a box of chocolates as well... Seems a bit mean not taking a bottle?

knitterati · 25/10/2011 18:42

Hi Kiki my suggestions would be chocolates (for after dinner) or flowers, if you're getting wine then guess you could take a non-alcoholic version? Or if it's not too formal, could you offer to bring pudding?
HTH?!

Carlitawantsababy · 25/10/2011 18:48

Agreed knitterati I'd bring chocolates and/or flowers and something that you will drink. Most people will be glad you've saved them from the 'oh god, what do people drink who don't drink wine scenario'! Grin

OP posts:
Carlitawantsababy · 25/10/2011 18:49

Not chocolates and flowers and drink, that would be excessive I mean 1 or 2 of these things!Smile

Pekka · 25/10/2011 20:13

So happy to hear that others have huge bumps as well. I was concerned mine is abnormally large :) We have our 20 weeks scan tomorrow! Not sure if we will find out the sex, but we think we saw a willy in our first scan.

KikiRC · 25/10/2011 21:04

Thanks, ladies! X

Maya6 · 25/10/2011 21:50

Hi all I am due in march too the dates change from mid to early-ish. Just had the 20 week scan and all ok and healthy with baby but I don't feel him move at all, yes I am pretty sure it's a boy. Anyone else waiting on movements ?

Carlitawantsababy · 25/10/2011 23:07

Congratulations maya! How exciting pekka, we have a week and a half left to wait and are so excited! Smile
