Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

Carlita you can get mothercare to price match from online, in store. Managed to get mine for £39 from Mothercare.

HTH!

Sorry I haven't been v active on this thread. Still straddling this and the other March thread!

Hope all the bumps are coming along nicely.
Smile

let me know how you get on with it carlita as i was going to get one too. have had a few very uncomfortable nights

Carlitawantsababy · 16/10/2011 09:04

Will do feekerry!
For the Londoners and those who visit London, Groupon are doing a deal today for 4D scans for £90. I'm going to get one as have been waiting for a deal to come up as think they look amazing! I'd like to take my mum too as she is fascinated by them and never had a scan herself. Plus I don't want to go 20 weeks between the last scan and the birth without seeing the little one! Grin

Where are you all?

knitterati · 17/10/2011 20:20

I'm here! Nothing much to report really. Bump going well, but got another 3wks to wait until 20wk scan.

On a different note, we had a talk at work last week from one of the MN founders; Carrie Longton, fabulous talk & work even bought attendees the mumsnet rules book (which is hilarious).

How's things with you Carlita?

NorthernGirlie · 17/10/2011 23:16

Posted this in 'Pregnancy' too but hoping for an answer from anyone...

Hi All

Just after a little reassurance as I'm driving myself crazy. I've been feeling flutters and bubbles for the past 2 or 3 weeks - mainly after drinking fizzy pop or in the evening when I'm relaxed. However - the last few days / evenings I've felt nothing.

Trying not to panic as I know some people don't feel anything until week 22 (I've also got some padding - I'm a size 16) and wondered if that made a difference?

We've got our 20 week scan on Friday and I'm panicking a little that it's going to show a problem!

Anyone experienced this??

Moffit · 18/10/2011 07:07

Hello NorthernGirlie, didn't want to read and run. I dont have any experience of this, but I wanted to put your mind at rest and say please dont worry. All babies and all women are different. I haven't felt anything at all yet, and when I hear people say they have movements I worry, but I heard the babies heart last week, so I was well assured. I'm sure that once you see your baby moving around on that scan on Friday you will feel much better!

Is this your first baby? As most things I have read, say that with the first you dont generally feel proper movements until around 20 weeks anyway. Hope someone comes along soon with more reassuring words of advice.

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 08:30

knitterati I'm doing good! I am 17+4 today and have scan at exactly 20 weeks so about 3 weeks for me too, I feel like it's going quite quickly now though. People keep asking when it is due and (I guess because bump is pretty big) saying oh, that's a long time yet and I'm thinking it doesn't seem like a long time especially with needing to sell, buy and move house in between! I gave my 16 week midwife appointment again today so looking forward to hearing the baby's heartbeat and going to record it on my phone for DH and for me to listen to over and over
northern I had been feeling flutters up until recently then stopped feeling them, so am really looking forward to hearing the heartbeat today but know it's nothing to worry about and similarly for you as there is a poster at the hospital that says if you feel a reduction in movement after 24 weeks then it is a cause for concern. I don't think you need to worry, I hope your scan is wonderful on Friday! [hgrin]

Hi all, I had my anomoly scan today, all is good and I found out I am having....... a very stubborn baby! Kept their back to us the whole time and refused to budge. Got a lovely view of their spine and their legs which looked very long and skinny, I am taking this to mean they will take after their dad who is 6ft tall rather than me who is 5ft short! They have put my dates back a week so am now only 18+4 and due 16th March. I am going back for another scan in 6 weeks so hopefully they will let us see their bits. The scans here only cost £20! Heartbeat was 139bpm which indicates it could be a boy but as I seem to have conceived a few days later than what I thought it could indicate a girl!
Northern Girlie I have been a complete wreck up to this scan, I am a big girl (normally a size 18) and felt bubbles and what I thought were movements weeks ago then it all stopped, then i convinced myself I was leaking amniotic fluid, but no everything is absolutely fine and normal I just have a bit too much extra padding to feel proper kicks yet and looks like I need to find out if I can get Tena Lady pads here Blush . Its natural to worry (actually I dont think i knew what real worry was before i fell pregnant!) and I am sure you will get all the reassurance you need on Friday.

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 12:34

Congratulations dorcas great to hear that everything is well with your little one! Grin I'm in the waiting room to see the midwife, appointment was at 11:30....

carlita it really is an amazing sound! Was that your first time hearing it?

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 15:33

Yes it was and I'm all fuzzy feeling about it still Grin

DorcasGailen · 18/10/2011 16:05

Oh thats lovely! Glad I am not the only one with a big silly grin on her face tonight x

feekerry · 18/10/2011 17:53

Woo hoo carlita. Its cool isn't it. Any indication of the rate? Will help me guess whether your having boy or girl. . . Re movement i've felt little flutters then I hit 18 weeks and I feel it alot now. But only since this week so sure it'll come for you northen. *dorcan are you saying you wanted to find out the sex but couldn't? How frustrating! Sorry typing this on phone so sorry if it comes across as odd!

feekerry · 18/10/2011 17:55

Sorry just realised I didn't get anyone's names right. Hope you all understand!

knitterati · 18/10/2011 18:44

Oh Carlita - lovely to hear the heartbeat. Smile We heard ours the other week. Was just the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. (realise I sound barking mad writing that...)
It was our lovely midwife who suggested we record the sound on our phone (but put it into airplane mode first or it interferes with the sound)! We then emailed it to our parents who were absolutely thrilled with it! Smile.

Feekery - I can never remember more than a handful of names when I send MN msgs on my phone Grin

knitterati · 18/10/2011 18:45

Btw: what's the boy vs girl heart rate thing? Not heard that one before...

Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 23:36

feekerry she didn't say or write the rate in my notes, I was hoping to see if it went with my boy theory. Not sure that we can work it out from the recording!
knitterati that is a lovely midwife, lucky you, and it doesn't sound in the least bit silly, it was the most beautiful thing I've ever heard too! Grin

OP posts:
Carlitawantsababy · 18/10/2011 23:42

At a guess (from counting the beats in 10 seconds of recording) 144 beats per minute. Smile

OP posts:
DorcasGailen · 19/10/2011 05:38

feekerry I did want to find out the sex but DP didnt - I just knew that LO would be difficult!
Knitterati Apparently a high bpm could indicate a girl and a lower one a boy, but its probably just an old wives tale!

NorthernGirlie · 19/10/2011 17:28

Thanks everyone - so reassuring hearing people say they're experiencing the same things - this place is a life saver!!

Dorcas - have you had a hard time about your weight? Just been to see the consultant (what a waste of resources!!) who told me to walk 20 mins a day (I already do that and lots more) and try not to put on another ounce in this pregnancy! OK - I'm a size 16 so not exactly slight but I've seen much bigger Mums - oh well, I know they're right - just easier said than done etc.

20 week scan on Fri - anyone else's partner not allowed in for the measuring bit?? Our hospital see Mums first, do measurements etc then invite Dad in - am thinking about insisting he comes in as I hate the few seconds between the gel going on and seeing baby - just inccase...

Hope everyone is well :)

Carlitawantsababy · 19/10/2011 19:53

I haven't been told anything about that northern why aren't they allowed in? What are they measuring? Blush

Northern are you in Sunderland area? Read about the separate calls for mum & Dad there on another thread. It seemed unique to that area from what I remember. Really daft rule IMHO.
