Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

Carlitawantsababy · 10/10/2011 08:37

Hi lovely ladies. Hope all is well. I heard the heartbeat today at my mid wife appt. Found it instantly and it was very loud lol. Also where she found it was where i'd been feeling movements so confirms for me I have been feeling the baby for real! Think the heartbeat was about 150 so thats means in wives tales its a girl. Lol. I'm now 17+2 and think for the first time I really feel pregnant. Like proper pregnant. Think hearing the heartbeat really helped. X

KikiRC · 10/10/2011 13:16

Hello everyone,
I agree Feekerry- the heartbeat made it all feel a lot more real for me, too. Also I can feel the bump a lot more now through my tummy, especially when I lie down (I still don't actually have a visible bump- though my waist seems to have virtually disappeared!)
Hope you all have a good week. X

Carlitawantsababy · 10/10/2011 14:18

Ooh, sounds great, I'm really looking forward to hearing the heartbeat, just over a week to wait but then only 3 till the bog scan! Some of you must have 20 week scans coming up very soon?

DorcasGailen · 10/10/2011 14:39

Hi everyone, have name changed from JoZambia cos it was a really crap name! Sorry not posted for a while but been a bit stressed with trying to organise coming back to the UK and where I will be staying and for how long etc.
I have got my 20 week scan next Tuesday, am really looking forward to it, I was lucky enough to hear the babys heartbeat at 11 weeks but would love to hear it again. Not felt any kicks yet but there is quite an amount of blubber between the baby and the outside of my belly so it will be a while though have felt bubbles.
This has happened twice now, I have had really sensitive to the point of sore nipples and then have had a small amount of liquid leak out! Anyone else had this? I knew this might happen but thought it would be a lot later than at 18 weeks.

Measured myself the other day and discovered I have put on 11cm on my belly and 7cm on my waist. Shock
Its good to hear that most people are feeling a lot better now and I hope that those of you still suffering or developing complications like SPD get relief really soon.

NotFromConcentrate · 10/10/2011 14:48

Carlita that's great news about the acupuncture! My PGP has really stayed at bay so far...long may it continue!

I'm very jealous of you all hearing your baby's heartbeat; where I live they don't listen (or measure your fundal height) at the 16 week appointment, even if you are more than 16 weeks

feekerry · 10/10/2011 16:52

dorcas (or jo!!) i've had something a bit like that. tho mine went a bit crusty instead of actually leaking out Blush and then i couldn't stop picking/squeezing it and ended up with realy sore nipples. i'm 17+2and it last happened the other night so maybe its more common than you think!
also ladies... after having no bump i now have quite a bump! lol. basically overnight my bloating went hard and basically never went and there was my bump. but, a couple of times recently (very recently) sometimes in the morning when i look down my bump has gone very hard and very one sided. almost like a lump. it then kinda flattens back down to normal shaped bump after a minuite or so. is thihs one sided lump actually the baby then it moves back into a better position or someone said it could be braxton hicks? its not painful at all and actually cant feel anything when it moves back into place?/ its very odd!

KikiRC · 10/10/2011 21:20

Feekerry- I'm having the same sort of thing feeling the bump go hard and moving about a bit. I notice it especially in the morning when I wake up- it seems much harder and nearer the surface. I thought that maybe it depends on the position I slept in, etc? Also first thing in the morning I'm usually dying for a pee- I think having a full bladder may push the bump further forwards?

Did you have that thing that people talk about when you literally 'popped' overnight, then? X

Carlitawantsababy · 10/10/2011 22:10

I think I can feel where the baby is from the same thing, a harder area, I can sometimes see a difference in shape of my bump too when I think he's laying on one side, it's lovely isn't it? Smile

Hi ladies, I've been very quiet for over a week now. Wasn't feeling great at the beginning of last week. I've always had migraines but since I've been pregnant I've had some really bad ones Sad . Then had to catch up with a load of work as am self-employed.

It's nice to read all your news! I went to antenatal pilates last week and was shocked at how big my bump looked in comparison to other women who were much further along than me. I'm guessing it's a lot of gas and blubber as well as baby...

I've not heard my baby's heartbeat yet. I had an appointment with the obstetrician at 14 weeks and I was told my next appointment with the midwife was at 25 weeks. I hope I'm not missing something? I'm guessing they skipped the 16 week midwife appointment as I saw the obstetrician instead?

feekerry · 11/10/2011 17:43

esme sorry to hear about the headache. Be careful as my mid wife is always going on about severe non easing can by a symptom of pre eclampsia. Take care. Glad to hear others are having random bump movements. Mine too looks like the baby is really close to the surface, but only in the mornings. How cute! kiki my bump happened a bit differently. Basically I was quite bloated for a while but it would go when I lay down and in the morning my tummy would be flat again then recently it just went hard one night and didn't go when I lay down and was still there in the morning and has been since! Odd. Seems like my tummy muscles have just given up to the bump! Lol

KikiRC · 11/10/2011 22:12

Lovely to hear about all your bumps! Sorry about your headaches though, Esme. Goodness, though- you're good to go to pilates- walking up and down the stairs gets me a bit out of puff.

Is anyone having trouble sleeping? I can't seem to find a comfy position for long. Last night I had a sore lower back and hips and so lay on a warm hot water bottle for a while- which really got my bump dancing! It's the first time I've felt it so strongly- usually it's just the odd flutter. Really lovely! But I did feel very tired this morning.

Carlitawantsababy · 12/10/2011 08:34

That's good you've got a trick to get it dancing Kiki! I haven't felt mine for a few days, must find some time to relax and concentrate! I've got my first acupuncture session for my PGP this morning, really hoping it'll give me some relief!Smile

Hi ladies! Sorry I've been absent for a while, couldn't find the thread after my holiday!
Esme sorry To hear about your headaches. I've been suffering with them this pregnancy so I sympathise. Paracetamol just doesnt cut it does it?!
Kiki I would recommend the Dreamgenie (sp) for helping you to sleep at night. I was getting achy hips and restless legs and this pillow has saved me! Bit pricey but worth every penny IMO.
17+5 and my bump is HUGE. Seriously it's a little embarrassing. Have put on a stone Blush

Moffit · 12/10/2011 09:41

Don't worry about the weight Daydream I am also piling on the pounds!

Glad to hear you are all feeling movements and seeing your bumps moving and changing shape. I still haven't felt any movements yet (am 16+6 today), but not sure if it is still a tad early or if I'm just missing them?!

Be really careful those of you with lower back pain and hip pain, make sure you talk to your midwife or GP and try to get a referal asap. I am already seeing an osteo and have been since 12 weeks, she said that as soon as you get pregnant a hormone called relaxin starts to relax your lower back ligaments and will only get worse the bigger you get!

Hope you all have a great day, I am seeing the midwife for my 16 week check up tomorrow, so looking forward to that and hoping to hear a heartbeat! Smile

KikiRC · 12/10/2011 12:03

I think a stone is normal, isn't it DDD? As is putting on no weight at all- everyone's completely different, I certainly wouldn't worry.

I have been looking into those special pillows- good to get a recommendation. I'm just trying to be a bit careful with money at the mo- but I suppose getting some sleep over the next five months is pretty important.

Good luck with the check up tomorrow Moffit, and hope the acupuncture works Carlita. X

feekerry · 12/10/2011 14:04

Hope all goes well tomorrow moffit and please report back if you hear the heart beat. Its pretty cool!x

EsmeMrsP · 13/10/2011 14:12

DDD, you're right paracetamol only takes the edge off for a few mins!

Kiki, I've started sleeping with a memory pillow on my side either between my legs or resting the top leg on it. It seems to help.

Moffit, let us know how the check up goes.

My car got clamped last night and I had to pay £200 pounds for it to be released... I cried like a baby when the guy came to unclamp it, still think I would have cried even if it weren't for all the pregnancy hormones!

Have a great day everyone!

DaydreamDolly · 13/10/2011 15:23

Esme have you tried the '4Head' strips?? Don't take it away but I found it of some relief, I had one on the back of my neck and one on my forehead and it was soothing. Massive sympathies for you. My headaches have abated for now - I hope they don't come back.
Urrgh - car clampers - such a liberty, £200 is ridiculous! I would have sobbed too!
Kiki I have heard Mothercare is doing a deal on the Dreamgenii pillow, selling it for £30 instead of £45.
Moffit hope you're check up went well and you got to hear the little heartbeat.
I bought a doppler when I was pregnant with DD and have been using it once a week to listen into pipsqueaks heartbeat. Always so comforting to hear it.

EsmeMrsP · 13/10/2011 18:05

DDD not tried the 4Head strips but will def give them a go. Thanks for the tip! [hsmile]

Moffit · 13/10/2011 19:15

Evening ladies, Thanks for the messages, I am on cloud nine today all went well with the check up, bloods, urine and blood pressure all good and most importantly of all I got to hear a good loud strong heart beat!!! Sounded like a galloping horse at 154 bpm......so exciting! Saw my Osteo too and my back seems better this week, going back in another two weeks, so all good on the health front at the minute.

Sorry to hear about the clampers Esme, I would have cried too, pregnant or not!!

Carlitawantsababy · 14/10/2011 10:35

Great news moffit!
Angry esme £200?! Sad
DDD thanks for the tip re dream genie, that's much cheaper than they've been going for on eBay, will take a look now! Grin

OP posts:
Carlitawantsababy · 14/10/2011 10:46

Dream genie still £45, mothercare version on sale at £20 instead of £30 though it just doesn't look as good?
