Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

feekerry I am 17 weeks tomorrow and everyone says I'm blooming !!! Think it's coz I had a fairly flat stomach before but between 15 and 17 weeks I have sprouted, gone up 2 bra sizes too ( which I love as was pretty much flat chested before!!Grin) I was wishing for a bump too but sure it won't be long until were all complaining about how huge we are ha ha, bigger the better for me. Hope ur bump sprouts soon Grin x

Carlitawantsababy · 30/09/2011 15:22

Thanks everyone. notfrom i concerned about the cost of acupuncture, we'll soon be on one income so trying to watch the pennies, is there any you can get on the NHS?

Also, stupid question alert but what exactly does the top of your uterus feel like? Books are saying I should be able to feel it 3 inches below belly button but I don't know what I'm looking for! Blush

Carlita I had mine on the NHS. I was fortunate that my hospital had (and still has) alternative therapy midwives.

What I will say, however, is that if our PGP becomes seriously debilitating (as mine was) then acupuncture might well be a worthy investment if you can't get it on the NHS. Fingers crossed it'll be mild and then you won't even have to think about it :)

Carlitawantsababy · 01/10/2011 12:20

Ah great! Good to know there's a chance of getting it on the NHS. I realise if it gets bad I will just have to pay for it and deal with getting into debt but that wouldn't be ideal! Been much better the last couple of days since doing some self taught pelvic exercises and making sure I do things like get up slowly whilst holding pelvic floor muscles etc. so I have high hopes for physio! Grin
We're doing more DIY this weekend, new bathroom being fitted and kitchen being painted today, we're so nearly there now, just can't wait to get it on the Market, sell up and move, there's still a tiny chance we could be moved before Christmas which would be awesome PLUS, as soon as we move I get to stop work! Bliss! Grin
What's everyone else up to?

Carlita glad to hear you're feeling better! Things sound positive on the house front - are you wanting to move within London or out to the sticks? I'm a sticks to London daily commuter these days.

I'm off to get my hair cut, but whilst I'm in town I'm going to see if I can get a manicure - my nails have been growing like mad since I found out I'm preggo! Anyone else's nails doing that? Also am having major spot breakout at the moment so considering a facial! So much for 2nd trimester blooming Wink ! I'm hoping whilst I'm out pampering myself that DH will mow the lawn with all this lovely weather. It's normally my job, but have been on pregnancy strike, so it hasn't got done & it looks like a jungle!

So much for it being nicer carrying through aut\winter when it's cooler! This feels like summer!
Well that is my boring w/e! Happy weekends all! Smile

Carlitawantsababy · 01/10/2011 18:06

knitterati we're moving to the seaside - Hastings. That's why I'll then be stopping work because it's non commutable - 2.5 hours! DH started a new job in May when we got back from honeymoon in Kent with view to us moving to hastings so has a very long commute now which will be much shorter once we move, the master plan is really coming together! Hope you had a nice pampering session! Smile

Hello folks,
Sorry I've been away for a bit- work has been crazy. Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine and fluttering bumps!
Sorry to hear about your PGP, Carlita- but how funny you're moving to Hastings- that's where I am- moved here from London a few years ago. It's great down here, but just stock up on maternity gear before you arrive! You'll be having your baby at the Conquest, then? They're all very nice.
Anyway, hope you all have a relaxing Sunday. X

Carlitawantsababy · 02/10/2011 10:40

Wow! Brilliant Kiki, that's great you're in Hastings, hopefully we can meet up when I move down? Smile I'm actually planning a home water birth, as long as everything continues to be smooth. I'm feeling so much better just from adjusting what I'm doing, just a little pain in bed last night, none beforehand in the evening!
Making a dress today for my best friend's daughter who'll be 1 on Friday, will post a pic when it's finished! Grin

KikiRC · 02/10/2011 19:24

Yes, Carlita, do keep me posted on when you come down. Do you know Hastings well? There's a good arts/ crafts community down here. Glad to hear you're feeling better.

God, I'm pooped tonight...

Carlitawantsababy · 02/10/2011 19:24

Have posted some pics of the dress on my profile as well as the headand I bought her. Hope you all had a good day.

Hi. Does anybody know if I can choose to have my bay at any hospital or do I have to be in the catchmant area, my local maternity unit is closing down in March (due date 28th march), I've had a look at the hospitals in surrounding areas and St Marys in Manchester really appeals to me.... As its my 1st bay I am completely clueless about these things and pretty much anything baby orientated! Wink

KikiRC · 03/10/2011 14:34

Hi Saj- I should think your MW will be able to advise on this- presumably there will be a number of people in the same situation as you?

Hope all goes well.

Carlitawantsababy · 03/10/2011 17:18

Kiki thanks, it was brief, pain is back again and extreme! Sad oh well, midwife appointment tomorrow so will get it sorted soon.
Glad we can meet up, will be great to know someone else with a baby there. I know it pretty well, my mum lives there and we go to visit a lot. When I was small my grandma lived there so used to go in the holidays. Don't know anyone roughy my age though, just my mum's friends so am hoping to join things like pregnancy yoga once we move then when baby is here, baby swimming and baby signing and things like that. It's a friendly town though isn't it so hope we won't have too much trouble making friends! Smile

KikiRC · 04/10/2011 09:30

Hope the MW is able to help, Carlita.
Yes, Hastings is very friendly- though a bit limited on the pregnancy yoga front...

Carlitawantsababy · 04/10/2011 10:23

Kiki there's a 6 week course at the Wellington centre on Monday nights! Grin

OP posts:
KikiRC · 04/10/2011 14:46

Hi Carlita,
Yes, I might go to one six week session, but was hoping to go somewhere you could pay as you go rather than paying upfront, in case I don't feel up to it every time- and it's £50, which I could better spend on something else at the mo.., also the people that run it (actually, don't get me started..!) X

Carlitawantsababy · 04/10/2011 15:37

What about them Kiki I want to know as it is a lot of money!

Carlitawantsababy · 04/10/2011 15:40

notfromconcentrate I had my midwife appointment today and have NHS acupuncture starting on Wednesday and she's doing me a referral to physio which should take about 4 weeks, Hopi g the acupuncture will ease the pain in the meantime! Thanks for your advice, it has really helped me get what I need considering midwife didn't know what PGP was! Grin

feekerry · 04/10/2011 18:30

Hi everyone. Hope all is well. Did you all get to listen to the heart beat at your 16 week appt? Mine isn't till next week when i'll be 17 weeks but i'll get to listen to the heart beat apparently!x x

Carlitawantsababy · 04/10/2011 18:36

I didn't because I was 15+4, going back at 17+5 and they'll do it then but yes, provided you're over 16 weeks you will! How exciting will that be?! Smile

OP posts:
KikiRC · 05/10/2011 09:10

Ha, Carlita, it's a very small town. I probably shouldn't slander them online. They've just built a bit of an empire & look down on everyone else, & pay their staff v badly etc.. Hope it all works out with the acupuncture/ physio.

I have my MW appt on Friday when I'll be 16+1, so really hope I get to hear the heartbeat. Does anyone plan on taking their DP along to any MW appts (other than the booking-in one, I mean). I hadn't really considered it, but I know my DP is really keen to hear the heartbeat, too- I wondered if there was a way he could? Or do they listen to the heartbeat at the next scan?

feekerry · 05/10/2011 11:04

kiki I wouldn't normally take dp to midwife appt, if didn't come to the 12 week one as dont think there really interested in partners but he is coming to this midwife appt as he would love to hear the heartbeat plus i'd feel a bit mean coming home and yapping on about how amazing it was if he wasn't there. His baby too! So ye on this occasion he'll tag along.

Carlitawantsababy · 05/10/2011 18:07

I see Kiki thanks. Kiki and feekerry I think it's a lovely idea to bring your DP to the appointment, I can't see why the midwife would object, and you'll almost certainly hear the heartbeat as long as you are over 16 weeks, sometimes they can't find it but I think that is rare.

I had a meeting with my manager today and am now home based! I am so happy as this will mean I can get lots of rest without taking time off sick! Grin

Hi Ladies, nice to hear that you are all doing so well, I have started telling everyone at work this week and it is feeling more real by the day.

I'm glad you said about hearing the heartbeat at the midwife appointment, I have my 16 week appt next Thursday but I will actuallly be 17 weeks. So I am really looking forward to that.

Also I went shopping yesterday and ended up getting some really nice maternity clothes in peacocks in the sale (50% off) I got some lovely jeans for £9 and three tops that were all under £10 each.

KikiRC · 07/10/2011 13:04

Hello all- I heard the heartbeat with the MW- was great! It was 140 something... which in folklorian terms makes it more likely to be a girl, I think? (I've had the sense for a while that's what I'll be having...) Anyway, it was reassuring just to hear it's doing OK in there. Otherwise she just checked BP & urine sample.. all seems fine.

Good to hear you can work from home Carlita- that's what I'm doing now, and it makes life so much easier.

Hope you all have a good weekend. X
