Hello! I've just found out that I'm pregnant and due on the 23rd March! I'm 29 and live in London with my husband, dog and cat. So far at 4 weeks things are going very smoothly! I'm very excited about going to the doctor (even if they don't care) as feel it will make things more real!
If you're expecting in March too please join the thread and share a bit about yourself and how your pregnancy is going!

Sorry ladies. Do excuse me while I go and launch my iPhone out of the nearest window Grin.

I shall return later. With a laptop. Which will hopefully show me up less than my iPhone has done Blush

feekerry · 26/09/2011 20:32

welcome esme do you know, that is one of my fav baby names on my list! love it!

anyways, think i tempted fate by posting the other day about feeling better. i'm 15 + 1 and had a poo day. vom central tonight which is the first night in ages and gen feel like crap today Angry feel really bloated and alien like today. yuk. :(

Moffit · 27/09/2011 07:47

Hello Ladies, sorry for those of you that are still feeling poorly. Welcome to Esme!

I am 14+5 and was feeling much better up until yesterday, but had a terrible nights sleep last night, so think I might be tired and grumpy by lunch time!

We had an exciting shopping trip last night, we ordered our car seat from Mothercare and they are doing a special price match, so if you find it in another shop or online for cheaper, take the info into them and they will price match it for you. We saved nearly £80 on the car seat and an iso fix base!! (chuffed emotion)! Also had a look in babies are us, so I have now made myself a very comprehensive list of all the things I want to get, but I will definately be shopping around for the best bargains!!

Loved your scan pic carlita, it was very clear! Hope you all have a good day!!

NotFromConcentrate · 27/09/2011 09:37

Hello!

I've been laying low this past week because of bloody work sending me round the bloody twist Angry

On the upside, these past few days people have commented that I'm looking well, which makes a change form the usual concerned "Oh, you do look tired" coments and hopefully means I'm turning the corner.

Knitterati my movements are still really sporadic to say the least, although yesterday I got a definite nudge.

Feekerry it's rubbish when the yuk feeling doesn't pass at 12 or 13 weeks. Hope you start to feel better soon. My bloating has really started to settle and DH says my tumy is shrinking by the day, which is bizarre, but by evening it's back to a definite bump. Our bodies don't half do strange things!

Hope everyone is well Grin

EsmeMrsP · 27/09/2011 15:12

Thanks all for the welcome messages! Feeling less alone in this pregnancy business already.

Feekerry, nice to know people like my name. I have yet to meet another Esme but I guess it's one of those names coming back into fashion - hope you're feeling better than yesterday.

Are any of you going to find out the sex of the baby at the next scan or keeping it a surprise? We're keeping it a surprise, I have this theory that it helps you get through labour (although will probably rubbish the theory after the first contraction... but anyway, not really thinking so far ahead yet!).

feekerry · 27/09/2011 16:48

esme i am desperate to find out the sex!!! so desperate in fact that a may pay for a private scan next week (16 weeks) as the can normally tell the sex from then, then i think dont be stupid save your money and just wait a few more weeks until my 20 week scan. i've always said from day one tho that i want to know the sex and its a no debate issue for me.
the only thing i wonder about those who dont find out the sex is at the 20 week scan it must be pretty obvious? esp if its a boy? or am i being stupid? my friend had a 3d scan done at 25 weeks and it was on show for everyone to see!!!!!

EsmeMrsP · 27/09/2011 16:55

Hmm, I guess from certain angles if there's a willy there's no mistaking it on the scan. I'm hoping that when we tell the sonographer that we don't want to know she'll try and avoid any willy angles at my 20 week scan! I will definitely be avoiding 3D scans for the same reason.

I grew up in Spain and over there no-one keeps it a surprise. All my Spanish friends think I'm weird keeping it a surprise!

Good luck finding out and keep us posted! Finding out is just down to personal choice at the end of the day and there's no right or wrong way to go about it Smile

NotFromConcentrate · 27/09/2011 17:32

Feekerry I have 2 boys already and found out the gender at the 20 week scan, but I couldn't make out anything remotely willy shaped on the scans! I must just be rubbish at spotting willies Grin

I'm definitely going to ask at the scan, but whether or not they can see it is down to whatever mood Lumpy is in! (Does anyone else have strange names for their babies, or is it just us? We've given ours names each time - not deliberately sat and thought of them, but come up with something that's just stuck!) I'm sure it's a boy though. I'd be delighted with either, but it would be quite nice to know whether to get all the blue stuff out of the attic and washed, or prepare to buy girly things (after she arrives and is confirmed as Definitely A Girl!!!)

EsmeMrsP · 27/09/2011 18:54

NotFromConcentrate we were calling the baby Elmo the Embryo in the early stages, we've now progressed to Freddy the Foetus!

Stogan · 27/09/2011 19:02

Ours is called stoby at the moment, it's totally stuck with the whole family and our friends too, a potential nickname when it arrives I think !!! XGrin

NotFromConcentrate · 27/09/2011 19:13

Haha, loving the nicknames!

Stogan, I was worried with my first two (Goo and Chomper!) that it'd stick because they were really bizarre sounding, but they didn't despite both boys being nameless for several days! DS2 has a Bear Factory bear that was a gift from DS1 however, and that is called Chomper Grin

Speaking of Lumpy, he (we also give them a gender Blush was giving me proper little nudges today, and then was practicing a teeny, gentle little Riverdance. I was in bed with a headache, so maybe that's why I noticed it. It was luvverly Grin

Stogan · 28/09/2011 07:05

Aw bless NFC I have felt a few little tickles and nudges but nothing major yet, can't wait. Especially can't wait for DH to be able to feel it as he has constantly got his hands on my bump lol GrinGrin x

Moffit · 28/09/2011 08:07

I can't wait to feel movements, but think it might still be a while yet (will be 15 weeks tomorrow)!

We have given our baby the nickname of Peanut, which was due to its original size, however I realise that it is now bigger than any nut!

We will not be finding out the sex of the baby, cant wait for the surprise at the birth and the guesses up to that point!

JoZam · 28/09/2011 08:51

Morning all, hope everyone is feeling better now, my DP says I am glowing now and have to admit am feeling better than I have done in, well 16 weeks!
I am hoping to find out the sex at the 20 weeks scan, there is only one scanning machine in Lusaka thats good enough to get that kind of detail so am booked in for an appointment with them in a couple of weeks! We are finding out for practical reasons as I will be coming back to the UK for a few months to have the baby I will be returning, a couple of weeks after having them so I will need to do a hell of a lot of shopping before they are born and also I dont really trust my DP to do out the nursery so I will have to do that before I leave as well! I am convinced I am having a girl, which would be nice as my sisters only have boys and are not planning any more kids so would be nice for my parents to have a grandaughter as well, also we have always said if we had a daughter that we would name her after DP's mum who passed away several years ago. (Luckily her name was not Hilda or Margaret or a name of a similar middle aged feel!) But if its a boy I will be equally chuffed (Esp with the amount of hand me downs I would get from my sisters!) but would be really stuck for names, I have 4 nephews and DP has 7 so all my favourite boys names have been taken.
Its lovely lots of you have started buying things, I have to admit to not buying one thing yet! I keep seeing really impractical stuff to buy though - yesterday I was looking at a baby swing which was lovely and I keep going into a toy shop where all the stuff is hand made and they have the most gorgeous stuff!
Haven't felt any kicks yet but have felt bubbles and an awareness that something is there if that makes sense!

EsmeMrsP · 28/09/2011 12:19

Morning everyone!

JoZam, I had to google Lusaka, wow! You're miles away Smile. Let us know what you're having when you find out.

I think I have felt something but as it's my first I'm not 100% sure, feels like an ever so light tickle, but maybe a bit too high up in my belly for it to be the baby. Can't wait to feel proper movement!

Stogan · 28/09/2011 18:13

OMG Deffo felt movement today, this sun needs to stay as my baby moved 3 times while I was sat outside in it, I came back in the house 1 HR ago and it hasn't moved since. Told OH we now have to move abroad so I can feel baby all the time ha haGrinGrin prob won't feel it again for weeks now but WOW that was amazing, the niggles I've felt before were not like that, this was it YEY !!!GrinGrinGrin

knitterati · 28/09/2011 18:29

oh stogan that's fab! Grin

I definitely need to get out in that sunshine tomorrow!

Stogan · 28/09/2011 18:56

Ha ha I hope the sun makes ur little one wriggle too knitterati GrinGrin

Carlitawantsababy · 28/09/2011 21:50

That's lovely stogan!
I'm suffering a bit in the evenings, pretty much bed bound when I get in from work due to what I think is PGP, has anyone else had it, it's awfully painful! Sad I'm going to contact my midwife who I'm due to meet on Tuesday for a physio appointment as have read that immediate treatment is best!
Hope everyone else is well! Grin

Amazing Stogan! I'm def going to sit in the sun for a bit today and see what happens.

Have a nice day everyone!

EsmeMrsP · 29/09/2011 10:45

Carlita I hope you feel better soon. PGP sounds bloody awful x

Carlitawantsababy · 29/09/2011 19:46

Thanks esme Smile I hope so too. It is treatable so I'm trying to stay positive!

feekerry · 30/09/2011 08:42

Oh no carlita supposed to be really painful that. Hope it doesn't get worse. Can I also reccomend the cinema for some baby kicking! I went the vids night to watch a film and its the most def movement i've felt yet. So does anyone have a proper bump yet? I'm 15+5 and still nothing. Well at night I could pass for 40 months pregnant as so bloated but by the morning my stomach is flat as a pancake again. :( its gone a bit hard but no bump whatsoever. Anyone else?

NotFromConcentrate · 30/09/2011 09:07

Carlita I've had PGP in both of my previous pregnancies, and was on crutches from 18 weeks in my last one. Get thee to the physio ASAP, and I can't recommend acupuncture highly enough. I was an alternative therapy sceptic, but I had acupuncture once or twice a week, and weekly aromatherapy massages, and went from being on crutches and housebound to waking into labour ward in my 5 inch heels! My only regret is that it took me 36 weeks to discover acupuncture!
