melliebobs we fell for the John Lewis price promise and cautiously had a look round after and have now cancelled our order with them. A shop in Leicester did a deal for the peach, carrycot, footmuff, car seat adaptors and parasol and clip for £815 so over £150 cheaper than John Lewis so I'd ring around your local stockists that come up on the iCandy website because it's saved us loads! Also not had to wait weeks for delivery we've took it home to MILs!

Purpletoes · 01/08/2011 18:32

Just a quick note to my scan to the successes of today. All is good here due date moved forward a day to 8th of feb. Grin

Congratulations to everyone else.

Xavielli · 01/08/2011 18:46

Loving all these dates being moved forward! Hope the same happens for me.

Louby! How could you leave it somewhere else, I'd be playing with it everyday! Lol

PDog · 01/08/2011 18:59

Congrats on all the scan news, very Envy of all the pram ordering. I am trying to decide between the iCandy peach or a phil and teds. Will probably come down to whichever i can get cheapest second hand. Spent £600 ona travel system first time round which hasn't benn used since DD was 6mo so can't afford new for a double.

I am feeling very sorry for myself today. DD has passed on her cold to me so am utterly exhausted. DH is away with work and DD has a fever and has been very clingy. All I want is a bath and my bed but I at least need to tackle the kitchen first.

melliebobs · 01/08/2011 20:08

Thanks louby were goin John Lewis to get a price on Wednesday. Then there are 2 independent places local to me we are going to use to get the best price!

After the cottage pie talk just bin morrisons n got a ready meal one. Best thing I've eaten all day

louby86 · 01/08/2011 20:12

I'm being a bit superstitous (sp) at the minute, so leaving it at my MILs for now, although we did get it out of the box and play with it for a bit. Didn't know when I bought it but have just been informed Harper Seven is being pushed around in an iCandy Peach, in custom designed fabric of course! haha! Well, if it's good enough for David and Victoria! haha!

Glad there's been some lovely scan news today and people (with the exception of me!) are getting their dates moved forward! How exciting! Next scan date for me is next wednesday!

QueenFee · 01/08/2011 22:22

Just briefly as away on my hols :D

Great news re scans.

Mothercare prams are ace! I had one as couldnt afford slalom for dd. The xtreme i think it was called. Indestructable and the added unofficial bonus of having built in toddler bar - no buggy board to trip over. I bought a jane slalom (which they now do a reversable seat on) when I had my lovely powertwin to keep in boot turned out the mothercare version was much better quality :o. They did a carry cot to go on the mothercare one a while back so you should be able to still get 1 on ebay.

TheWicketKeeperIsDown · 02/08/2011 07:13

I'm next Wed too, Louby. Getting more nervous the closer it gets and desperately hoping it'll be ok.

louby86 · 02/08/2011 10:51

I thought after yesterday's scan my mind would be put at ease and I'd stop worrying, I'm now nervous for next week's scan too! Although excited to see my wriggly little baby again!

Looking forward to hearing about more scans later!!!

Xavielli · 02/08/2011 11:57

We have a lovely wriggly little baby! Waving and kicking but thankfully holding still for the measurements. Due date has been moved forward 6 days to the 8th! Wheeeeee!

20 week scan booked for 21 weeks on 28th September!

mummymccar · 02/08/2011 12:22

notcitrus - how strange that you suggested the Maclaren XT - that is the buggy we'd picked out as our favourite when in Mothercare a couple of weeks ago. Glad to hear that it is good for trains/buses as we don't drive and will unfortunately be using a lot of these.

Had our 10 week scan yesterday. They've decided I'm now 11 weeks instead of the 10+4 I was, though they've kept my due date the same. Baby is looking huge on the scans now and was very compliant for us; even did a mexican wave or 4! S/he turned over a few times and gave us a good view at each angle and half way through the scan got hiccups - so adorable! Hospital was great, very pleased with them so far. Long chat with the midwife and we've decided that because I have a history of DVT, seizures and back pain then I'll be having a consultant led pregnancy for at least the next few weeks. I don't know if any of you saw my post on the pregnancy forums a few days ago asking about an elective CS, but the midwife was great about that too. It was obvious that the hospital's position is to have a vaginal delivery where possible, but I discussed my concerns with her (I was very badly sexually assaulted a few years ago and now struggle with internal exams to the point where I've only been able to do about 10% of them - with drugs) and she is going to refer me to the hospital's counsellor. She normally deals with women who have had traumatic births but the midwife thought that she may be able to help. She said that in my present state though it will be unlikely that I'll be able to manage a natural birth. So it could go either way now. Lcukily DP has been fantastic and just wants me to be happy. My mum wasn't impressed when I broached it with her though - told me I was being ridiculous and that no woman likes it but that I'll 'get over it'. She did say that she wouldn't think badly of me if I did have an elective though. I think if we go through with an elective then we won't be telling anybody.

Symptoms seemed to be getting better last week for a couple of days too but then came on even worse than ever, so back in bed. Thank God I work from home!

Hope you are all doing well, sorry for the essay!
11+2?

phlossie · 02/08/2011 13:05

Blimey, mummymccar, sounds like you've had a traumatic time. I'm not surprised that you find internals traumatic. Sounds like your midwife is fantastic and supportive - and it's a good job it's not your mum's decision! Nobody who has a c-section is a failure. A friend of mine who had a very traumatic birth with her first DD and suffered PND and post-traumatic stress syndrome afterwards, had her DD2 by elective, and said it was wonderful and peaceful and calm.

We had a lovely time in France, and I was so relaxed I was only sick once (and not at all seasick). But the sickness is back now I'm home! Oh well - the end is in sight. 12 weeks on Friday, and I have my scan then too.

notcitrus · 02/08/2011 17:51

mummymccar - let's just say that where I live in south London where people even who own cars rarely drive because the traffic is so bad, 80% of buggies are Maclarens, mostly XTs. Only had someone take A's buggy home from nursery once (they were both grey with the same book attached, so easy to do!) They come in nicer colours now.

I find it's so much easier to have a baby on a train as you can push them back and forth and if need be get them out and pay attention, whereas when driving you just have to leave them to scream!

Glad to hear you're getting good care. I was advised to put in my birth plan that I wanted to be asked for explicit consent for any contact at all, which staff were very good about, and made me feel much more comfortable and safe (if a bit tedious when they had to check my blood pressure every 15 min!)
Hope your mum becomes more supportive too.

Sugar80 · 02/08/2011 18:33

Still waiting to get my scan date.... got very excited this afternoon when the hospital rang me to check what sort of scan I was having (dating or NCT). Apparently they do them on Wednesday evenings. She was going to ring back if she could fit me in tomorrow, so I've been frantically checking my phone but nothing :(. Looks like it'll be next week, or even the week after.

Daft, but I'd like some confirmation that this is really happening and I haven't just made it up!! Weeing on a stick seems a very long time ago, and then everyone's just taken my word for it. I want an official test!! I haven't felt sick since Thursday, my boobs aren't as sore, and I'm not showing at all... I could almost forget all about it. Hey ho, must be patient....

louby86 · 02/08/2011 18:51

Aww sugar80 that's how I was feeling, then I got my date through, was really excited and then didn't really sleep very well the night before because I got so nervous!

I'm ashamed to say that in my pre-pregnant life mcdonalds was my choice of hangover cure and we were lucky enough to win some littlewoods vouchers on mcdonalds monopoly so I've spent those today! Bought a car seat, base and closer to nature starter kit. Then I'm not buying anything else until my 20 week scan, well I'm going to try really hard not to!

Has anyone had to be on antibiotics while pregnant? I'm a bit worried but have had to see the emergency dentist today as have an infection in my wisdom tooth now Sad and he's prescribed them for me.

Looks like it won't be long until we're moving onto thread 3! What was that title going to be again Grin hehe!

claricestar · 02/08/2011 19:02

Midwife came to my house this morning to finish my booking in and take bloods etc. I showed her my discharge notes from DD and she says that I had a post partum hemorrhage and so will need to see a consultant. I didn't know I'd had a PPH! I did have a drip and catheter in after the birth to help my womb contract. Oh well, you learn something new every day!
Due to DD's rapid birth she wants to leave a home birth pack with me just in case....although but we both agree that hospital will be my first choice of birth venue.
Oh well, it all seems more real now. Off camping tomorrow so no internet for a week...no doubt there will be a new thread started by the time I come back!

Sugarkane · 02/08/2011 19:05

Louby I had antibotics for an abscess not long ago, but my dentist is useless and wouldnt give me anything because I have allergies to some meds and got worried. In the end I had to go to the doctor to get some as the pain was so bad, he was shocked that I was left in pain, he also said that some antibotics in pregnancy are safe.

Sugar I still havent had my scan date through as the hospital have moved and are all messed up at the min, although I had a scan at the epau yesterday, I know how you feeling I was starting to worry everything was in my head.

Mummymccar do what is best for you and no one else.

mistressploppy · 02/08/2011 19:13

Louby, I had antibiotics a few weeks ago for impetigo (damn toddler groups and their leprosy Grin) and the doc said that certain antibiotics are completely safe, some of the few drugs that they actually KNOW are harmless in pregnancy

louby86 · 02/08/2011 20:06

Thanks guys, that's put my mind at ease! I'll go get my prescription in the morning Grin

Rollersara · 03/08/2011 06:51

louby, you can always tell the pharmacist you're pg, they'll know if the antibiotics are safe.

Scan in 6 days, shuffles impatiently

melliebobs · 03/08/2011 07:42

3 bloody hours sleep last night. But finally my scan date is here. It's in an hour and already I'm busting for the toilet!!!!!!

Dh also had a little surprise of a soppy card and a pregnancy magazine for me when I got up. Fingers crossed all is well and I'm not just making the past 7 weeks up!

shipsladyg · 03/08/2011 08:44

Good luck Mellie! Hope you get to nap later too.

I got woken at 4am by the cat being sick. Special. An hour later, just as I was about to drop off, the same cat brought a live mouse into our bedroom, miaowing very proudly - presumably to make up for the sick. Just about to drop off again and DD wakes up. Grrrr.

Paddling pool out again today. Grin there are advantages to being a SAHM. I just have to put the toys away before DH gets home from work so he doesn't feel like he's missed out on fun.

Has anyone got any thoughts about not being able to see the baby's bladder at the scan. I'm guessing they're not that fusse otherwise I'd've been sent to see someone - but I can't help worrying. Also LO's heart rate seemed slower than DD's was in utero. I'm probably just trying to find stuff to worry about - but another 6.5 wks til next scan feels like forever.

Hands up who has a scan today! Meeeeeeeee! I see mellie has already checked in, did wicket have one today as well? DH birthday today so he will be getting all the special treatment today,
Have a lovely day everyone, hopefully we will all come back with good news!

CoffeeOne · 03/08/2011 09:56

Lovely to hear about all the super scans! Good luck to everyone scanning today!

My sickness is fading, which sounds great doesn't it but now I'm fretting as it seems a bit early Hmm

I have my booking in appointment today and I'm oddly worried as I have no idea what to expect Confused I have this fear that she's going to yell at me for being fat (my bmi is 30 on a bad day, 29 on a good one). I'm fit and healthy, I just like cake too much! But from what I've read I'm convinced the medical professionals will spend this whole pregnancy judging me and class me high risk and telling me off!

melliebobs · 03/08/2011 10:15

Phew all went well! Bit disappointed we didn't get to hear a heartbeat but a very active pip none the less. It had a big stretch and a but of a wave! Dh was fascinated by what you see on the screen. The photos don't do it justice but got a side on and a face on photo. Bin put back 2 days so due the 19th feb now!

20 week scan booked for 30th September. So if we fond out what it is that will be a nice bday present then we go on holiday!

Also there were signs up everywhere saying scan photos go up to £4 as of 1st September! Disgusting! That's almost double !!!!

Right shower, break the news to my auntie and shopping trip to Trafford centre
