Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pinkhollie · 31/07/2011 23:20

Hi everyone a bit scared by all the pushchair talk feel v out of my depth. Need to do some serious research I think.

Bought my first proper maternity clothes today a pair of cropped white combats from Peacocks for £7 and a pair of skinny jeans from Matalan both are side stretch panel so don't feel too 'maternity'. I'm preparing myself to have to invest in some serious maternity clothes before I go back to work in September so trying to only buy cheapies now. We have a no leggings policy so will need to buy at least two pairs of smart trousers.

Exhausted again, hoped to spend the weekend catching up on sleep, actually spent it visiting mum in hospital 100 miles away after she broke her ankle :(. Still, I think we cheered her up talking baby plans :)

I'm inheriting my nephew's old Bugaboo, one of the few things my sister still has (he's 7!).

Rollersara · 01/08/2011 06:54

Oh, and a question for non first time mums - I've gone from a 34B to about 38D at 11 weeks - how much bigger can I expect to get?!

louby86 · 01/08/2011 06:54

Morning!

rollersara hope you're mum is ok and you manage to get some rest today! Inheriting a bugaboo, that brilliant!

I've been awake since 5.15, wanted to try and stop the sickness and fill my bladder ready for my scan at 8.30. Hardly slept, I'm excited and nervous at the same time! I think there's a few of us in the same boat today! Hoping to hear some more lovely scan stories this week!

hermionejgranger · 01/08/2011 07:49

oooh hope the scan goes well louby!

hope your mum recovers quickly rollersara x

mummymccar - I was pleasantly surprised by how little ds cost in the first year, thanks to a cotbed from IL's neighbours, pushchair from my parents (Maclaren XT, what you want if you live in a city and need to get on/off buses/trains a lot), piles of clothes from neighbours, Ebay and charity shops/church sales, reusable nappies from ILs and Freecycle and then clothnappytree (so much easier to use than I was expecting!), some fleecy blankets from friends - and of course we stopped going out for meals nearly as much and I didn't have to pay for a season ticket to get to work.

Though there was the night I told MrNC to drive to the nearest Mothercare and buy every overpriced thing that looked like it might help with breastfeeding... but the My Brest Friend pillow/shelf was worth every penny.

Ironically it got more expensive when I went back to work part-time, thanks to nursery costs and the amount of food that got used if not eaten!

GP wants to see me later, hopefully to sign me off work for a while as can't sit up without falling over...

Sugarkane · 01/08/2011 10:44

Hi everyone off to the hospital today have been having bad cramps since yesterday so just need to be checked out as ive given myself a headache with worry. No bleeding though so fingers crossed everything is ok, it just feels different to my normal stretching down there. Good luck on the scans today guys.

babycarmen · 01/08/2011 11:51

rollersara you will probably get a lot bigger when your milk comes in after the birth, i was a b cup before my first pregnancy and went up to an F when my milk came in! Was not fun!

Still light-headed and feeling nauseous this morning :(

mistressploppy · 01/08/2011 12:09

Hi everyone!

Had my scan this morning and measurements showed I am a week further on than I thought! So am 13wks instead of 12wks.

But I do wonder - DH is 6'2" and I'm 5'11" (so joining the Woowa and Esme tall pregnant club Grin) - surely this affects the size of the foetus? Or not?

But I'm so relieved to see arms, legs, head, heartbeat etc.

Thanks for the replies re my squirty discharge/pelvic floor/leaking panic. I think I might just be 'watery' as well (Wink Crazy)

louby86 · 01/08/2011 13:06

Hi everyone!

How exciting mistressploppy glad you had a good time!

I had my scan earlier today! Little baby bump was too wriggly for the down's screening, I wasn't too bothered but when she said I could have another scan in 2 weeks I couldn't say no! They put my EDD back a day from what I thought so I'm 11+2 now and due on feb 18th!

Really wanted to buy something to celebrate so dashed over to John Lewis and after ages in there we reserved our pram!!!

louby86 · 01/08/2011 13:06

sugarkane let us know how you get on! Fingers crossed for you!!!

pinkhollie · 01/08/2011 13:13

Today my carbohydrate of choice is pitta bread. Protein is being provided by hummus.

Congrats on all the successful scans still can not believe I have to wait until next Friday.

Xavielli · 01/08/2011 13:21

My Powertwin just arrived! It is soooo lovely!! DS2 is currently having a nap in the back seat so it obviously meets with his approval.

Great news about the lovely scans! Which buggy did you go for louby?

louby86 · 01/08/2011 13:52

pinkhollie that's very good of you, I'm embarrassed to say my carbohydrates today came from a mcchicken sandwich Blush

Xavielli we got the icandy peach, was going to get the strawberry but I liked that you could make the peach a double if you needed to, the shopping basket seemed a lot bigger and you don't have to buy a flavour pack for anything on that model. Is your scan tomorrow?

diedandgonetodevon · 01/08/2011 14:13

Am just off for my scan now...am paranoid they will tell me I have imagined the whole thing and there is nothing there.

Xavielli · 01/08/2011 15:00

Good luck Devon!! I always feel like that before scans.

Louby, I love the peach! They look wonderful as a double too. Yes my scan is tomorrow morning, starting to get excited/nervous now.

shipsladyg · 01/08/2011 15:15

Well done scanees.

We had ours today. All's well. LO was very relaxed. Just about managed to stretch before going back to sleep. Been brought forward to 13+1. Didn't have NT test but he still measured it. 'twas 2.1 so we're happy enough without worrying about odds. Couldn't see the bladder but I gather that's normal; after all, how tiny must a bladder be in a baby that's only 7cm long.

shipsladyg · 01/08/2011 15:17

(still doesn't feel real...)

CoffeeOne · 01/08/2011 15:57

congrats on the lovely scans! eeeee I'm so jealous I don't even have a date yet :( booking in appointment on Wednesday.

10+2

melliebobs · 01/08/2011 17:00

Ooo loving all the happy scan news. 2 more sleeps for me!

louby I really want iCandy peach too. How much is it in John Lewis? Dh this afternoon has announced he doesn't want one as there was an article in the paper saying this is the pram the beckhams have got. Even though theirs was custom made Envy

madeindevon2 · 01/08/2011 17:09

Congrats all on the scans! How exciting! Got mine a week today..... Bonus/ salary negoiations have started today at work so hope to have that all sorted this week.
If scan ok Monday I will prob tell boss next week... I think. Not sure.... Part of me wants to keep quiet workwise for as long as poss. But I want to tell family and friends after scan and don't want work to find out from anyone other than me.... Hmmm dilemma...
Currently 11+2
Homemade leftover cottage pie for lunch! Carb and protein!! And containing carrot courgette tomato and suede so think I got food groups covered. With my fruit afternoon snack!

melliebobs · 01/08/2011 17:14

Wow made that's some healthy eating. Today I feel like crap. I've had a traker bar, bag of nik naks, fruit gums and copius amounts of Ribena. Not one of my better days

Sugarkane · 01/08/2011 17:22

Good news on the scans and pushchair ordering.

Just got back from hospital had a scan and lil bean is doing well have dated 1 day forward so 10+4 today. No idea what the pain is but its still there, might go and add myself to the stats now as I didnt want to tempt fate.

Devon fazncy sending me some cottage pie over thats all I want to eat now.

diedandgonetodevon · 01/08/2011 17:42

Back from our scan and everything was fine. DS was fascinated by the images of the baby on the big screen. He's told everyone who would listen that I was having a baby, including the chap on the checkout at the supermarket.

They put my dates forward by one day so now 12+4 and due on the 9th of Feb Grin

hermionejgranger · 01/08/2011 17:55

Sounds like good news sugarkane - and everyone else with scans! Mine's next Tuesday - even though it seemed like ages when I got the appointment through it seems to have come round quite quickly (thank goodness!!).

I hesitate to say it (don't want to tempt fate) but I think the nausea is wearing off - the sickness is definitely conspicuous by its absence - nothing since Friday and before that the previous Saturday. Still have weird appetite though and there is lots that I DON'T fancy to eat or drink - totally gone off tea and coffee. Cottage pie sounds like a plan...but I have to say I'm with Louby on the McCarbohydrates!!! Think it'll be bacon and chicken pittas for tea tonight with lettuce and tomatoes. Reasonably healthy and somewhat interesting with just a hint of plain food-ness.

i'm trying v hard to keep up with the fruit & veg intake - albeit with smoothies and yoghurts etc...but the carbs are definitely winning the fight at the moment. And consequently the tummy vs trouser battle is starting to look like a total whitewash. Oh well. Think I've been outed by 2 more at work today but have managed to change the subject...perhaps pointlessly...
