Footsfirst, I feel your pain. I'm not old but I had a late MMC last year which has left me anxious.

To all those ladies that haven't provided stats yet, here is the link:
STATS

Mine is a day out but I can't be arsed to change it until I have my scan Grin

Reallea · 11/08/2011 20:57

Such a relief to hear others are saying the nausea has abated before the 12 weeks, it has put my mind at ease. In addition I actually threw up first thing this morning and have felt some mild nausea during the day which makes me feel as if actually it is tailing off rather than having just vanished which feels more natural.

santalucia you're probably right, they changed my due date from 9th to 4th march based on the length of the little cashew nut altho they said we'd know more at 12 week scan

That's sooo cool you are due 29th feb. Do you think they still schedule electives for that date or just keep it for those who decide to turn up naturally on the day?

MakkaPakkasWilly · 11/08/2011 21:24

Dopplers hate me.

FootsFirst · 11/08/2011 21:39

they take AGES sometimes.....

pommedechocolat · 12/08/2011 09:35

Reallea - Other than having very low blood pressure and feeling sleepy my symptoms have disappeared. I had a consultant app yesterday and she did a quick whizz over my belly with the scanner and all was fine. Baby was waving in fact!

If I hadn't have had that app though I would totally be freaking out.

Sometimes I think we know too much - doubt our mothers worried this much in the days pre sacnning.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 12/08/2011 11:01

am screwed up. Toying with the idea of calling up for a private scan today.

MakkaPakkasWilly · 12/08/2011 11:44

so I called about a scan. It's more expensive than the previous one. The woman told me to stop stressing and save my pennies.
Bless.

FlipFantasia · 12/08/2011 11:45

Makka I'd say book a scan. I had one last week but have booked another for next friday, in anticipation of my mentalling between now and the NHS one on 9th Sept. Paying the moment is a pain, but it's a small price to pay for reassurance.

Waves to everyone else. Hope you're all having a good Friday Smile

FlipFantasia · 12/08/2011 11:46

Makka cross-posts - that's nice of her! I do think they get more expensive as you move from the early pregnancy window to the nuchal test window.

kirsty12321 · 12/08/2011 12:16

Hey ladies, having a very difficult day today, my boss who is 3 weeks behind me found out yesterday that her pregnancy isn't going to continue, have her two little boys, very cuddly and teary today worrying about their mummy being at the doctors again Sad
And im getting upset feeling massively guilty that she's lost her baby and mines still there (as far as I know? Fingers crossed) Sad is it normal to be feeling this bad And guilty? Is it going to go away? Sad

rollerbaby · 12/08/2011 13:40

Flip have just added myself under you on stats link. We are the same day so we will see! :)

Kirsty that is awful for her. Completely understandable that you would feel bad for her, but you shouldn't feel guilty, nor would she want you to I'm sure.

Makka have the scan. Think of all the things you would otherwise spend £100 on! I had one at 6 weeks and it was worth it to hear heartbeat and know all ok in there, I feel far less anxious knowing it was ok then and chances are good. I did the same first time around too and think it was money well spent.

zebedeethezebra · 12/08/2011 13:55

Just signed up to the stats thread. That'll probably jinx me Hmm

I was going to wait until I am 8 weeks before going to the docs but I'm so desparate with thrush (sorry TMI) that won't clear up that I'm going this afternoon now. I've had thrush basically every month for well over 6 months now. I thought it would go now I'm pregnant (as it seemed to with DS) but I used a pessary (very nervously, wish I hadn't) on Tuesday, it seemed to go, but now it seems to be coming back again. I don't understand why I get it so much. Sad

Last time I was PG I went to the docs and started bleeding the same night, so a bit nervous, hence why I was going to wait so long this time.

So off to do the booking in thingy this afternoon. Wondering whether to beg for an early scan on account of my age (44) and a few stomach pains (which actually I'm sure is wind).

Do dopplers really work yet? Are you sure its not your own heart beat you are listening to??

MakkaPakkasWilly · 12/08/2011 14:13

zebedee, I could hear my heartbeat but not fatty lala's.

I also get yeast infections ALL the time, apparently it can occur more often if you eat certain foods and also if you have diabetes (I just found this out myself yesterday!) - it's worth making a separate appt with your GP to tell them you get it ALL the time as it might need looking at.

Honeymoo - I want the scan but I think I will hold off. £160 is too much for me, plus I had one at 7 weeks and I have my NHS one on the 23rd so maybe she is right! And it's not like I have had pain or bleeding or anything.

Kirsty - sounds shit for you. Don't feel too bad - I know it's only natural :(

rollerbaby · 12/08/2011 14:24

yes I think it is a bit early for dopplers.

Makka where do you live? that sounds v expensive! Is this your first?

MakkaPakkasWilly · 12/08/2011 14:39

Honeymoo, west london. Last scan was £110 but because I am 11 weeks, they charge more.

This is 3rd DC, 4th PG (lost the last at 12 weeks)

rollerbaby · 12/08/2011 14:42

ah I see... how are you feeling in yourself? everytime I feel sick I am pleased!

MakkaPakkasWilly · 12/08/2011 14:48

I feel frighteningly well! No MS, tiredness pretty much gone, feeling quite energetic... but always hungry!

rollerbaby · 12/08/2011 14:52

I think mine went too by 11 weeks last time. I can't bloody wait! Also tiredness is crippling. I'm working frm home today - in bed I might add!!!

zebedee I get thrush loads too! Try eating probiotic yogurt (some places recommend applying it to the area too 0_o), reducing sugar and wheat related foods, wearing cotton knickers and loose clothing on your bottom half. Avoid tights. Thrush can be transferred from person to person during sex so your other half will most probably need to take something too, otherwise you'll sort it till next time you do the nasty!

The other thing I found that helped was keeping 'down there' trimmed (sorry tmi) as the hair was irritating things.

Also don't use soap down there or bubble bath :(

Hope that's helpful!

MrsCog · 12/08/2011 19:34

Hi everyone, not been around for a while - been v tired and nauseous, but think I'm coming out the other side now :) Got my private scan tomorrow morning and can't wait!

I do have a dilemma though and would be interested to know what you would do. I have the tiniest heart condition, which years ago a specialist said would never cause any problems, and I should live a completely normal life and that it wouldn't effect pregnancy etc. To give you an idea of how unserious it is, I was running 25 miles a week pre-pregnancy.

The only thing I'd need to do is attend a check up every 5 years. However, due to uni, moving for jobs etc. I completely dropped out the system. I now feel duty bound to try and get back in the system, but I really really really don't want it to affect my pregnancy care as I really know it won't be necessary. So I'm planning on not mentioning it to the midwife, but going to my GP to get referred back in to the system. I should then get my appointment through and then I can get advice from the consultant as to whether I need to do anything differently (remember I was told at 16 that it wouldn't affect pregnancy anyway). Does this sound sensible yet unlikely to cause any demands on me having an interventionalist monitored birth? Anyone got any experience of anything like this?

ZhenXiang · 12/08/2011 22:12

Hello to everyone :)

Kirsty - that must be hard and very sad for your boss, try not to feel guilty and just be a very helpful employee over the weeks to come.

Zebeedee - I used to have recurrent thrush a few years back on top of the very good suggestions Kitty gave you can I recommend taking either Acidophilus in tablet form (Holland and Barrat sell them see here or a probiotic combination such as Three lac, see here. They contain many more good bacteria than plain yoghurt. Also if you eat plain probiotic yoghurt don't eat with fresh fruit mixed in as the acidity can affect the bacteria.

Another suggestion as well yoghurt applied to the outside (wear a sanitary pad as it is messy) is to soak a tampon in plain yoghurt and insert for two hours only.

Glad you are feeling better MrsCog.

Morning sickness held at bay today which was lucky as it was MIL's funeral, truly lovely service and the burial at the cemetary was very moving as all the male family and friends filled in the grave completely. The sun even came out.

I am waiting on my scan next week at 12 weeks, am so big that everyone reckons that there are twins in there. It is a possiblity as lots of twins in DH's family. I am quietly hoping that it is just one big one, breastfeeding two would be a challenge.

Moffit · 13/08/2011 07:41

Morning Ladies,

Hope its ok to join you. I am 8 weeks pregnant today with my first baby, still feels very surreal. I went to the doctors last friday and am now waiting to hear from the midwife for my booking in appointment. No one else knows in RL except my DH, so it's nice to come on Mumsnet and get advice and share experiences. We are waiting until after our 12 week scan to share the news with anyone else. I have added myself to the stats this morning and will hopefully be back on here soon to catch up with the rest of your news and stories.

tiany · 13/08/2011 17:58

welcome Moffit and congrats!! Agreed its nice to share on here - helps to know others going through the same things.

kirsty i know how you feel, one of my good friends was due same time as me after 2 yrs of TTC and just lost the baby. She didnt know i was pg at the time - so I had to tell her as thought more painful if all is ok with me and she finds out in a few wks. I had that guilty feeling aswell - its just unfair when these things happen to good people.

Call me crazy but i think excercise is helping my MS. Went for a little jog this morning and felt 100 times better. Didnt have MS last time around and think might be cause I was fitter? Or else just every pg is different. Craving crips and fizzy drinks - i am usually more of a tea n choc person. Strange!

hope you all well.

I am in SW London btw.
