ninah · 30/11/2005 10:15

I just used a rucksack tbh - a roll up plastic changing mat is a good idea tho

Nemoinapeartree · 30/11/2005 10:26

morning all..looks like all our babes are definetly going for dec then apart from little george.
JF changing bag doesnt have to be big. On a normal trip out I used to take, bottles/food if bf lot easier..lol Nappies, wipes, nappy bags, change of clothes [i only started this after taking adam out at 3wks old where he chucked up a bottle of milk on himself and I had to buy a whole new outfit..lol] muslins/bibs and dummy if you are going to use them.

SH hope you get going soon.

George hope dr has some answers about the burning although I do think its just the tightness of skin.

ninah grr at bribing with sweets..men always look for easy way out. bless at you catching leaves.

Not a lot going on here, need to empty bins and do some washing may make some cookies but that is it. Am another one in the no sleeping club..but then I was like that right through with adam at least its been intermittent this time..lol
So I have a question for 2nd timers plus...I have had to hand express as my boobs are full of clostrum[tmi] which is agony at the min as I have huge boobs anyway. I saw something by mears about antenatal expressing being ok from 37wks[am 38 on fri] so if I express and freeze it can I express a few times in one day into a cup or do I need a new cup each time????

Nemoinapeartree · 30/11/2005 10:28

oo agree about changing mat being necessary.

Meant to add that today or tommorow I should finally be getting a call about my new couches being delivered [only a couple of weeks late but never mind] so hoping they will be here by early next week.

Also 15 days to go arghhhhhhhhhhh

george32 · 30/11/2005 10:32

Jay, I got a lovely Skip Hop changing bag . Yes, I know, complete rip off & totally un-necessary but it's red & lovely and when you buy things on the internet it doesn't count!!

Right I've been to the GPs and asked about the burning pain. She says that it is more acid reflux from where it sits on top of your stomach (rather than coming up your throat). It makes your stomach very tender which can make it feel bruised or like burning. Solution??? Yep, more gaviscon!!!
It can be made worse by the babys position. In my case it's bum & at least 1 foot are right under my stomach pushing it & making it more tender - grr.
Good news though, somehow the baby has got into the right position & engaged itself totally!!! I asked her when it was likely to drop and she told me it already has!! OOoops, missed that one.
DQ, any news on your little ones position?

george32 · 30/11/2005 10:35

Lesson one in child rearing for George: Is bribing with sweets a no-no then??? Bugger, better think of a new plan then.

Nemoinapeartree · 30/11/2005 10:38

oo george dont get me wrong bribing with sweeties works but then they expect it allllllllll the time so unless you own shares in cadburys not worth it..lol Plus it leaves more sweets for stressed mums..lol

ninah · 30/11/2005 10:50

yes george don't go there! honestly. I am quite anti too much sweet stuff personally, a bit over-strict. but I would rather ds behaves well as a habit rather than to get something, I mean he woke up this mornign screaming 'jelly babies!'
It was difficult to stop p doing this as he had already shown them to ds and I had to let it go, but I plan to put a stop to it!
When they are still quite young and naive you can bribe them with stuff like cucumber, tho but I just prefer it if we have no strings fun when things are going well.

MINNIE1 · 30/11/2005 12:01

George
Your bubs is engaged oooo panic panic panic.. Were the same date's.. Do you feel presure down there? Cause i know i do.. Could my bubs be engaged.. the doctor said the head is well down..

expatinscotland · 30/11/2005 12:05

This baby is hiccuping for Scotland! DD had loads of hiccups, too.

bigeyes · 30/11/2005 13:01

Hi all dec mummies - i've been offline due to knackered p.c. it would take me ages to try an catch up on over a month BUT....

I hope you are all well and babies are fine - I'm suffering rib pain gettin checked this after havn't seen MW for 5 Wks (I know its a disgrace) but DH is lovin parent craft classes.

CAN BRAXTON HICKS feel like hot needles type pain or is this ligaments?

george32 · 30/11/2005 13:25

Ninah, bless your DS. Do you think he dreamt about them all night? Hmmm, cucumber just doesn't seem the same somehow!

LOL at you panicking Minnie . I'm sure it's fine, it could still be ages yet I think. Not sure if I feel pressure as everything hurts anyway but I keep having the phantom "desperate for a wee" attacks.
What do your notes say about how many fifths the babies head is down?

Expat, I love it when the baby gets hiccups (apart from when I'm about to eat - bit distracting then), it reminds me of when it first started doing little kicks rather than the bruising thumps I get now.

Hi Bigeyes, good to see you back. I'm another sufferer of rib pain. Realy common on your right hand side apparently. Thankfully I haven't had BH, phew finally an ailment that I don't have!

MINNIE1 · 30/11/2005 14:21

Nothing on my notes, but the head is down.. i get these little panic attacks but after a while i just think what will be will be..

Convinced i am having a girl, DP thinks i know already even though he has been to all the scans with me... Silly begger.

sweetheart · 30/11/2005 14:26

Afternoon all.

George - I'm really at your skip hop bag - I really wanted one but just couldn't justify that much money so I brought a cheaper, similar version in toys r us - unfortunatly I think I'm going to regret not spending a bit more and getting the bag I really wanted - please please, no posts about how fab it is - OK

Jays - The M&S thing is a myth - so much so that they actually have a disclamer on their website stating that women who go into labour in their stores are NOT entitled to any free goods. I think they got fed up of hundreds of heavily pregnant women hanging about in their stores all the time!

Still nothing happening here - 4 days to go though. I know a lady who was due 2 days after me and she had her baby last night. Still, I'm sure it will be me soon enough!

bigeyes · 30/11/2005 15:12

Oh its exciting to read your posts with people due now!!! and the next few days.

Just got back from clinic head is down bum under ribs hence pain - will take paracetamol tonite. the needle pain things were not BH just ligaments said doc.

Has anyone else gone mad for accessories - my justification for buying all manner of these is that I can't 'do' clothes so bags, scarves and pretty beads are my best friends (much to the dismay of my overdraft)

QUESTION - recommends for BF tops and nursoing bras cheaper the better as long as they do job. (Wrangling these out of DH re above expenditure)

ChaCha · 30/11/2005 15:18

Popping over from the dying November thread ladies.

Sweetheart, only four days to go eh? That's great. I am now 4 days overdue!! There are only 4 of us left on the November thread

Keep your fingers crossed for us, we are all overdue now!

ninah · 30/11/2005 15:51

hi chacha bet this is me in January! was 2 weeks overdue last time ...
Must be frustrating when the Nov mums are all going for it - join us any time
Are you feeling OK, or quite heavy and mis?

ei23mistletoe · 30/11/2005 15:57

afternoon ladies how is everyone today??
lovely to see you back bigeyes!!
iv been a bit of a lazy bones today cos all my energy seems to have miraculously disappeared!! maybe my bodys tryin to prepare me for whats to come!! is anyone else getting unbearably itchy on the bump area?? all i do is scratch- i havent got fleas iv checked!! my poor belly is lookin more and more like im being attacked on a regular basis by a cat of some description!! that teamed with my horrendous stretch marks its not a pretty sight at the mo'!!

ChaCha · 30/11/2005 16:13

Hi Ninah and thanks for asking

Feeling a lot better this afternoon although I have been v.emotional and feeling a lot of discomfort. It's been such a big build up to the EDD only to have it pass by ... oh well, keeping my fingers crossed. Good luck to you all & thanks again. I'll be back!!

x

ninah · 30/11/2005 16:16

is it your first chacha? I do remember how odd this felt from before, there I was with what I thought was a month off work, and then it was six weeks .. and I felt I couldn't go far from home just in case. In the end was induced, otherwise I think he'd still be in there!
Also I was getting frustrated as he was due in mid August and the cut off date for school entry is 30th August round here had chicken phall etc to try and save a year's nursery fees but no bloomin luck, born Sept 5th!

ninah · 30/11/2005 16:17

will look out for you, be patient and enjoy the unbroken nights x

bigeyes · 30/11/2005 16:30

chacha - Whilst at clinic this after i had to make an appt for 41weeks which was a strange feeling 28th of Dec, 4 days after due date and she told me that I wud get a date to be induced if i need to attend this appt - its all very real and scarey now - I bet i'll be a quivering wreck by the time i'm 4 days overdue!

bigeyes · 30/11/2005 16:36

ei23 - eeeeeeh i've felt washed out tooo (mainly due to rib pain and lack of sleep - see my moans on other thread!) so the i raided my snack piles and lucozade that were carefully laid out in the nusery waiting to be packed - notmuch left now so I'm going to have to replance it all naughty but fun

I'm going to change my name to xmas name. P.S. It feels weird not to be so wrapped up in buildup to xmas, but in your own little build up thingy to EDD. Its like xmas reminds me that lewis is due (24th) but I'm trying to tjust get on an prepare (when i've figured the latter out I'll throw a party or something)

Bloody mothercare havn't delivered my pushchair and i'm excited for putting it together. Harrumph

QUESTION - recommends for nursing bras and tops?

ThomCat · 30/11/2005 16:41

bigbaubleeyes · 30/11/2005 16:53

Great idea tomcat

Move to new thread Dec 05 'Advent Calendars at the ready'

flutterbee · 30/11/2005 17:00

Hi Ladies,

Just popping on again when I've got 5 mins, I see you are all hanging in there for the start of December.

SH - Keep an eye on that leakage as thats how mine started, I got up one morning and had a slight trickle down my legs, nothing else all day. Then the next morning the same thing and it continued (very very slowly) all day, went to hospital and they said no waters deffo not gone probably an infection!!! Next morning DH and I decided to catch some as we weren't convinced went off with sample pot full and they said yep deffo your waters but don't get too excited as you know I didn't go into labour for another week and a half (however if yours did break this close to the end they would just induce you, they just left me hanging on as I was only 33+2 when it happened, George was born at 34+5)
I think you'll pop in the next week..........I feel a post-natal thread coming on

I met my HV yesterday and she is lovely I was really worried as I have heard some horror stories about them but she couldn't be nicer she was here for an hour and a half and chatted away to mewithout a hint of patronising. She also weighed George and the little fatty is now 6lb 11oz that's 7 and a half oz in 1 week I'm sooooooo happy and the HV's last words to me as she left were keep on doing whatever your doing because you are obviously working wonders. I'M SOOOOOOO PROUD.

Also DH and I had sex this morning [smug and sexy emoticon], we both got really horny over the weekend but I couldn't go through with it as I was really really scared but this morning it was great it was probably down to being totally spaced out from lack of sleep but it damn well worked I have also managed to get back into a denim skirt that I haven't worn for months so YAY for me.

I just realised that George is going to be 6 weeks old at Xmas instead of 1 week (if he came on time) that ladies just feels really really odd.

NOW LET THE POPPING COMMENCE [GRIN] [GRIN]
