Thanks for making me feel like it was OK Nemo.
Like your christmas name.

scully · 28/11/2005 21:13

Well not a completely relaxing day but got a bit done and just nice not being at work really. dd woke us up at 7.45am, just the time my train would be arriving at Waterloo, so nice to still be in bed
Pottered around the house all morning, sorted through some of the 278 photos I had developed last week (the last couple of years worth on our digital camer ) to see which ones to send to my dad in Australia and added some to dd's album. Then went up into the loft and started sorting through things up there. Haven't finished but making a start makes me feel better anyway.
Went to a refresher class this afternoon for when it's not your first baby. Was run by my midwife and only 6 ladies there so quite informal and I'm glad I went. Then stopped in to see a friend who is now overdue with her 2nd baby, and is being induced on Thurs if nothing has happened.
Ninah, forgetting about a day off
At least you can take another day instead!
Bonkerz, enjoy the concert, hope you can get home!
George, men have no idea & need to be reminded every now and then that pregnancy isn't a breeze every day - mine seemed to forget I was even pregnant until the 6 to 7mth mark when I got v cross about the lack of help around the house. He has been quite good since though
Off to have some cheescake now

sweetheart · 28/11/2005 21:18

Nemo - with dd my labour started the day before her due date and she was born the day after her due date (Very long labour) so hopefully this one will be on time to - but with any luck the labour will be alot shorter!

scully · 28/11/2005 22:16

Anyone find a tens machine useful last time? If you're hiring one, where from? I've found 2 sites that are £22 and £22.95, they seem to range between this and £29 - anyone found one for less, that is dual option and has 4pads, not 2?

bonkerz · 29/11/2005 00:37

hi all, Just got back from the concert and it was ok! Not a major fan of Franz but DH is so made an effort! Pulled some strings by sticking out the bump and got BRILLIANT seats, front row so could sit all the way through and only 3 steps away from the toilet!!!!! Thankfully it started to rain on way there which meant snow cleared and coming home was very easy until we reached our estate and then the roads were trecherous but ok!
Alex loved the music but all night ive had a feeling like ive got a burn across the top of my bump. Been getting BH since leaving arena too! Not nice, starting like a period cramp and moving over bump till top is VERY tight then it all relaxes again! Very real, but not gonna panic! Part of me hopes they are contractions but i know im not that lucky! They appear to be every 10-15 mins and lasting about 30 seconds at full peak and have been like this for nearly an hour so will just keep track i suppose!TMI, have had yuck discharge too, browny in colour, not lots though so dont think its anything to worry about. Maybe all ALEXs dancing and jigging has just upset the balance down there!

MINNIE1 · 29/11/2005 09:12

Morning all,
Bonkers,
lol at pulling the strings nice seats!

George,
Sorry to hear your having a rough time, i do get like that.. Its bloody well hard to have a smile on your face 24/7 when you are uncomfi all the time you need to let of a moan now and again, i know i do.. Hope your feeling better today.

Ei

Though dd didnt wet the bed last nite...
Sh,how is ur revising going?
Hope all else is ok xx

george32 · 29/11/2005 09:36

Thanks for your kind words everyone. All OK with DP when he got home last night which I am so pleased about. Went to NCT then came home & ate half my box of Thorntons choccies (meant for labour!! ) to make me feel better. Must have worked as I feel a bit brighter today and had the best nights sleep I've had in ages.

I've hired a TENS machine Scully. It this one . Bit dearer than some but it's got lots of buttons to keep me busy!

Bonkerz, I have the burning pain just under my ribs too. Feels bruised sometimes and other times it catches me & really hurts. 3 other people at NCT have it too so that made me feel better. I'll speak to the midwife on Thurs to see if she can shed any light on it. Well done for getting your seats at the concert.

I'm sure the time will fly by Minnie & then you can put your feet up. Have you managed to get your shopping done yet?

scully · 29/11/2005 10:05

good you're feeling better george! & that you enjoyed the concert bonkerz! funny how they start moving when they hear the music, must wonder what on earth is going on!
George, that's one of the companies I checked, but was looking at the Ladytens - if dh isn't working by then was looking at the cheapest options available
But he has another interview today so fingers crossed for that. I'm off to the dentist in a minute, have a mouth full of fillings already so hopefully he won't find space for anymore

bonkerz · 29/11/2005 10:13

morning all, have only just woken up!!! Broken sleep tho as my BH didnt stop till 4am and i can tell you i was getting a little worried! still was in a way a good thing as didnt have any of that in my last pregnancy so fell like im actually doing something this time IYKWIM!! Just wish i had gone into labour! Never mind!!
Dh has obviously taken the bus to work today and left his car infront of my drive and taken his key so i cant get out today to get milk and bread! May have to ring a friend and ask for emergency rations to be bought to me!!!

Hope you are all well today!

Jaysfirst · 29/11/2005 10:32

hi all

glad the concert went well bonkerz, see it does pay to be pregnant for some things.......although when you dont sleep have pains here there and everywhere, feel like crying all the time and cant move about very quickly...it certainly feels like the cons outweigh the pros!!

I was so daft this morning, my Brother graduated as an Officer in the RAF on Thursday, and i couldnt go so he sent me some pics...i am dead proud of him and was gushing when i saw them, showed DH nad all he couold managed was grunts... for some reason i took this completely to heart and burst into tears saying that he should show more enthusiasm...oh dear me. We had a bit of a rant and talked it through and all is cool now, but really when do i stop being so hormonal and get back to normal!!

Had a look at that tens machine George, looks good, i was wondering where to start looking , you have now encouraged my next mission!

Going to Christmas Craft Fayre this afternoon at Sandown Race track, should be good, hopefully going to get some more decs, so that we can out the tree up this weekend, looking for some holly and ivy also to make a wreath for the front door...

hope everyone is well!

george32 · 29/11/2005 10:34

Been eating more choccie for breakfast . Must go out & buy a new box for labour now.

Scully, I guess all of them are good , they are recommended by the NCT and probably all do the same things you just pay more for a digital screen (I'm a sucker for a gimmick!)

Sorry you were in pain for most of the night Bonkerz. Hmmm, it does sound like some of you are getting pretty close.

DQ, where are you? Hope you are OK.

Booklover · 29/11/2005 10:36

Hello everyone,

It has been ages since I last posted a message but from time to time I read some of your messages and thought it was great that some of you managed to meet up. My due date is 23rd December and I am hoping that baby will be a bit early as I don't want so spend Christmas in hospital. Just wondered if any of you are a bit worried about how your other child/children will react to the arrival of a new baby. My son is now 19 months old and I guess too young to understand what is really going on. Some mums have recommended to make sure that baby is in its moses basket when toddler meets her for first time and not in your arms etc. Have you got any other advice and has anyone read a book you can recommend?
Hope you are all doing well and look forward to reading of the new arrivals :0
Have also not made a decision on the double buggies, love Phil and Ted but it is so expensive, has anyone chosen one yet?

george32 · 29/11/2005 10:37

Hi Jay, sorry X posted.
Glad you got things sorted out with your DH. It does sound like our hormones have taken over again.
Enjoy the craft fair.

sweetheart · 29/11/2005 10:48

Morning all - thought I'd treat myself to 5 mins of MN!!

Ebbie - revision is going OK (ish) I'm not 100% there yet and don't think I will get there but I am doing OK and provided I can retain some of the information hopefully I should be OK - fingers crossed!!!!

Booklover - with dd I have brought her a prezzie from the baby to help ease the sibling rivalry thing! I have brought her a braclet and necklace as a prezzie for her and also a couple of disposable cameras and a small photo album. She quite likes taking photos and I'm hoping that by making her "chief photo taker" it will give her something to focus on and help her feel important. I'm going to get the piccies developed for her album so she has her own "boasting book" which she can take into school. I also found a craft thing by Crayola where you can make photos into postcards - I plan on letting her make some birth announcement postcards we can send out. Mind you - my dd is 5.5 so this might be a bit old for some kids to do!

George - go careful on the chocolate in labour hun! I went into hospital about 4pm when I had dd and we didn't get any dinner - I ended up eating about 5 choc mini rolls. Trouble is, as I moved into the 3rd stage of labour I felt sick and ended up throwing up choccie sick all over dh! Needless to say choc has been banned from my hospital bag this time round

Yes, DQ where are you - have you gone into labour?? Hee hee

Bonk, glad the concert was good and Jays - you haven't got too long to go now - hang in there, it will be worth it in the end.

I have a mw appt later today - nothing exciting I expect.

Right, must get back to the revision as I have to babysit my mum again later. I tell you - My mat leave is turning out to be sooooo busy. So much for having time to relax!

Byyyeeeeee SH 39 + 2

ninah · 29/11/2005 10:53

love the photos idea sh! will get ds into this, even tho he's only 3 he grabbed my phone and worked out how to take a quite credible picture of a brush (he LOVES cleaning) he also loves looking at photos, will be fun to see how it works out!

dramaqueen72 · 29/11/2005 10:55

hey george, am here. chin up hun, its CRAP at the end of pg, hence massive mood lift at birth of baby everything part of me hurts and yet cant sleep..........frustrating!!!!!!!!!!!!!every night for the last few i fall apart about 8/9pm and sob in pain and general hormonal state. its awful, i cant help it!! keep telling dh hhow sorry i am that i'm a wwreck byt that time of night. hes been quite sweet, tho frankly F**k knows what he actually says when he leaves the house! during the day i'm okay, achey, crampy, BH all the time, abit fed up but okay. so its not just you george, as you can read, its all of us. hope it helps to read how normal it is to feel so!
have midwife appointment tomorrow. havent seen her for three weeks! do you think she'll get interested in seeing me more soon??!LOL or shall I just give birth?!
my inlaws -who are our child minders for during labour- have just announced they are off to their holiday home in portugal next week for a week. right..so who exactly am I supposed to call now if go into labour????? they said they need a quick break before it gets busy. is it just me or do you ladies find it odd that the world 'forgets' your pg, or rather, that all we can think of is the birth and everyone else is busy planning before and after it????? its surreal to me, stuck in this round little mothership of a body!!!!! getting twitchy I may go sooner rather than later.
big hellos to s/h (daily check ins now please!!), nemo, bonkerz, minnie, ei -take it easy lady!!- scully, everyone really. its so lovely to check in everyday and hear from you all. huge emotional ott pg lady hugs from DQxxxxx

MINNIE1 · 29/11/2005 15:06

ei23mummy · 29/11/2005 15:32

anywho...
how is everyone today?? looks like im not the only one to be feelin the pains of possibly imminent birth!! we should try and maybe do a syncronised event- might make a good story for the papers!! isnt there one of us havin a story printed in a magazine soonish?? i cant remember which one tho- im thinkin it was jay tho correct me if im wrong!!
george im so of your choccie breakfast!! iv given dp strict direction to buy me some thorntons choccies but as yet he hasnt taken the order very seriously ah well... glad everyone is ok and keep checkin in SH to let us know whether youv popped!!

OP posts:
george32 · 29/11/2005 16:04

Ei, I think you can order them online (hmmm, not sure why I should know that ).
What date shall we set for the sychronised Dec births then? I don't mind mine being early.

Minnie, LOL at your shopping. No rush for you then? Have you got a master plan of making your DH do it all when you go into labour.

Thanks DQ, glad you are OK (ish). I guess it has to be horrible or you wouldn't ever want to go into labour. at your PIL telling you that THEY need a break before it gets busy, right, because it's such a doddle for you at the moment!!! I'm sure they will be back in time though. Try not to stress too much.

Ninah, please can you send you DS over to my house. It needs a really good clean, it could keep him busy for hours!!

SH, 39+2!!! You take it easy. Thanks for the advice about the chocolate, gives me a good excuse as to why I have to eat it all now!

Hi Booklover, good to see you back. Sorry I can't help with advice on siblings. DP has 2 DS's but they are older so hopefully will adjust pretty well (as long as they don't have to go anywhere near a nappy!!)

Well. so much for expensive things going in 3's. I've had to take my mad cat back to the vets, as she will not eat anything now, (she has gingivitis) and it is an op for her tomorrow to have ALL her teeth taken out. That will be 2 gummy cats I have. At least it will stop her bringing in half eaten birds & mice. Last op (6 weeks ago), cost me £170 so dreading the bill for this one.

Hope everyone else is OK. Sorry for waffling.....

ninah · 29/11/2005 16:24

as it's you george he would have no hesitation in fact you could be stuck with him a long time! lol at him wanting you to take him to the loo at meetup ...

dramaqueen72 · 29/11/2005 17:05

aw1 but he was a sweetie wasnt he? i ahve just gone abit mad and spring cleaned my two big kids rooms omg, lots of screwed up sweet wrappers (and I mean LOTS) dirty plates/cups, socks, washing(clean and dirty) and crap in all corners -wow it really stresses me out. honestly guys, babies are a dream compared to teens!!!!!! its taken me three hours!!!!!!!!! and now must have blood pressure sky high.
i love toddlers, can I just say that now?!!!!!!

ninah · 29/11/2005 17:07

you lot are SOOO energetic
dreading mat 'leave' cos it sounds SO tiring! don't you ever stop cleaning
DQ, STOP! put your feet up!

dramaqueen72 · 29/11/2005 17:11
