I've dreamt this baby was a boy sometimes, and other times that it's a girl. So who knows!?

sweetheart · 27/11/2005 16:20

hey all, feeling a bit tired today - dh and I went out last night. It was supposed to be an early night but we ended up staying out until gone midnight and then when we got in we though we'd try and get the baby out (no such luck) so I've felt like a zombie all day today.

Jays, Arnica is a natural herbal remedy which brings out bruising, that in turn means that you heal more quickly. It also promotes healing, controls bleeding and will help reduce swelling.

dramaqueen72 · 27/11/2005 17:46

hey ladieslots ot tell you, lots ot catch up on too!
s/h I have a femme pad which is abit like the stuff they make those put in fridge eye masks out of? you can freeze it or just put it in the fridge and it comes with disp sleeves. they stock them in mothercare/boots and online in a few palces too. I thought it was heaven before! and yes do perineal massage, -not thats its something i often 'talk' about LOL- but after every bath and shower i use an oil I bought for this, but basically any plain massge oil will do, its just keeping it supple really. and i personally swear by it!
tea tree is excellent in your bath after BTW, and its SEA salt you need to add, not just bog standard table salt. or try a 'posh' brand of smellies, such as burts bees, mama nature or similar- or search the organic baby sites- they all stock some kind of new mother bath stuff. i am big into that kinda thing too. last time I didnt tear but grazed, which frankly, might not of hurt as much at the time but did when healing. my usual top tip -'jug of water' (WARM!!) tipped over your sore parts as you wee is absolute gospel, I wouldnt DREAM of going for a wee without my trusty plastic jugLOL because it hurts like F**K otherwise.!
I have given birth three times and torn once (first time) had a few stitches (they hurt more than childbirth) didnt tear second time, and like I said grazed the third. NOT going to tear this time, please god. but if i do, I have my lotions and potions in placeHTH you.
flutter, hang in there, s/h is doing her best to be just like you! and dont think I'll be long, not to mention several c-sections and inductions all booked soon too on this thread.
nemo, bonkerz trees up? bloody hell!!! we have real trees tho so they really wouldnt make it if up yet. and yes, even as pg as this i will insist on doing it myself!!
well spent all yesterday at hospital!!!!!!!!!!

no, not the maternity one -phew!- but my ds fell down stairs and fractured his foot, ripping his toe nail out in the process....................(hes fine now) but oh the joy of sitting in every dept of the hospital for hours..........not to mention driving to A&E with him shrieking and 2 yr old, and me shaped like this........could almost have been a sitcom...
so have ds home all next week with big strapped foot. we are a right pair, I cant bend down or walk far, he cant walk far at all.between us we can just about sit on the sofa LOL.
knackered me out so have spent day just pottering and baking. mmmmmmmmm, chocolate rocky road.........

sweetheart · 27/11/2005 19:30

DQ - not that this is the best place to discuss the massage but here go's!!

I gave it a go after recommendation from the mw. Have to say it was pretty impossible to actually reach there myself and doing it was quite uncomfortable(although cutting my anils might help I suppose). Afterwards I also felt a little odd for the rest of the day. I haven't done it since and I'm wondering if it's really worth it as the mw said they recommend twice a day (5 mins) from 34 weeks onwards - well I'm 39 now so is it really worth starting do you think?

sweetheart · 27/11/2005 19:31

p.s. - If I have trouble looking you in the face next time we manage a meet up DQ you know why!!!!

scully · 27/11/2005 20:48

sh
Must admit though I haven't done it, but have bought some lavender oil, teatree oil and arnica tablets, and have some rasberry leaf tablets should I look like being late......
Well I have now finished work and was very spoilt on Friday. My team gave me £350 of John Lewis gift vouchers to spend, and then a collection was also done across the floor (I worked in a team that was part of a bigger dept) and from that collection I got £30 in M'care vouchers, a cot blanket, sun blinds for the car window, a pram/car seat activity arch, a 'big sister' t-shirt for dd, a baby record book to record all the milestones & a silver plated money box. I was gobsmacked, they are always v generous but for my 2nd baby this really surprised me. I never normally shop in John Lewis but might have to visit in the sales now
I've rewrapped dd's 'big sister' shirt so dh can have open it before they visit in hospital, she will be so proud to wear it!
Only downside was it took me almost 3hrs to get home on Friday night thx to a fatality at Surbiton which completely screwed up the trains in and out of Waterloo. W'loo was overflowing with people who couldn't go anywhere and who didn't care if they bumped into you, it was actually quite scarey for me. Managed to squeeze onto one train but with the waiting on the platform and then on the train before it emptied out at Woking, I was standing for just over an hour, way past my limit these days. I just got home and soaked in a bath for a bit but having another look at my pressies improved my mood
Have had a nice weekend, cleaning the house and organising it a bit more, at friends for dinner last night and had other friends over for lunch today. I didn't do any of the cooking so relaxing for me!
Gosh, trees up already. Might have to think about that this week sometime, given I was 37wks yesterday

ninah · 27/11/2005 20:54

Hello all! sh and dq I was going to try the massage last time but instead of almond oil p bought salad oil, just didn't fancy it lol! But arnica seemed to be a good thing to do. Must start taking it soon.
Had Friday off work so haven't been on here for a while some more Xmas shopping, then Sat felt shattered p and dss at the Rugger so ds and I had a quiet day, made cake etc. Local art galleries today, they have Christmas exhibitions, went with friends and children bit raucous but good day. See you in full tomorrow

dramaqueen72 · 27/11/2005 21:41

s/h, I know, funny subject but hey........ yes, even once or twice will help it stretch (which is frankly what we really want....)but not with salad oil ninah and if its any help () after bath/shower when putting on body lotion, leg on side of bath helps you (almost) reach it dont ask dh to help........he'll either get ......er...carried away and it'll not get done-the massage bit!- or he'll die on the spot
i actually really like the taste of raspberry leaf tea, (-I have the brand 'heath and hearth' or some thing like that)and its nice so I havent done tablets but the 'real thing' scully drink it now, its doesnt start labour (promise) it tones your uterus helping with labour. I think Tc said all that awhile ago too.
oh tc how was the meet up? sounds very.........strange/large/big/rowdy!!!LOL hear you were v glamerous indeedy....
I am shaped exactly like a mothership now and feel like it too. sigh.

scully!!!!!!! how spoilt were you??? love john lewis myself, so yep, go baby shopping
how lovely. def down side of SAHM then, nobody to shower us with gifts and appreciate us quite like that.
i am 36wks today. mad. if this pumpkin is still breech i am off for turn and poss c-section next week. lordy. thats a scary thought, even tho i'm kinda thinking we are head down now. -we'd better be!!!!!!
i have a small handful of last christmas gifts to get, and its bugging me silly that I havent go them yet. am going to make dh agree tonight that i can get them mon/tues so I can FINISH it. am abit concerned about his ability to do so should i have baby anyday now. hes okay with really basic lists (bread milk potatoes) but 'something for dear friend in america' would be pushing my luck BIG TIME!!!!god only knows what he'd buy......
hows the dec nemo? all festive? I listened to my fave christmas songs the other day whilst wrapping gifts. it was lovely
actually managed to freeze some homemamde muffins today......... a major feat as children/myself/dh all usually pounce on them. I figured if I baked something nearly everyday i might actually have a freezer of some nice things by christmas. we shall see....................

Nemo1977 · 27/11/2005 21:47

evening all

lots of talk of perinnial massages..lol I didnt do it with adam and havent this time. Wouldnt be able to reach and dont want to be asking dh at the min..lol

DQ good idea about freezing stuff for xmas. I have bought a xmaws tree biscuit cutter as on xmas eve i plan on making some biccies with adam. Deccies are up and looking nice although I refuse to switch the lights on apart from when we checked they all worked..lol Have put up a lot less than usual but it actually looks nicer.

scully · 27/11/2005 22:26

mothership dq, that did make me laugh! dd was pouring jugs of water over my bump in the bath tonight and the baby was moving all over the place, bump was a very odd shape by the end of it
yes, v spoilt, don't think that will happen should I be there for no. 3
like the cookie cutter idea ninah, will have to try and remember to get one of those, hopefully will have time in the next week or 2 to do things like that.
I like the tea as well dq, just didn't want to set things off just yet. perhaps I'll have the tea for now.
dh managed to make up some 5 spage bol meals last week and freeze them, & hopefully he'll make a few other things this week and freeze them so at least we won't starve in the first few hectic weeks
want to get the recipes from my sister for marsbar slice (done in microwave, v easy) and rum balls (made with weetbix, but delicious) & some other nibblies we always used to have at Xmas. Not a fan of xmas pudding/cake, so I'm thinking a selection of other sweet nibblies might be nice instead

bonkerz · 27/11/2005 22:35

Evening all,

massages etc! i dont know! I had an episiotomy with DS and know how sore that was cos they put the stitches in too tight and it never healed! I still get pain and blleding from it now!! Midwife told me at start of this pregnancy that i should tear along my scar and it would heal better this time! ERRR no thanks im having a section!

Tree is up! Ended up spending an hour and a half untangling xmas lights even though i was meticulous about putting them away last year! Bloomin gremlins!

Done nearly all my xmas shopping yesterday! just a few selection packs and token gifts for friends to get!
Today did not go as planned either! DS decided to put a ball bearing up his nose at 8.30 this morning we were on route to A&E! Unfortunatly they couldnt remove it so DS was transferred to coventry for what was meant to be a small operation under general anaesthetic to remove it! THANKFULLY a nice doctor man tried to remove it with massage and a large hook and out it popped! Finally left hospital at 2pm! Really was not happy with DS at all, cant beleive he did it and he is 5!
JAy, its at the nottingham arena tomorrow night! Am excited and worried all in one! DH used to frequent rock city too! I knew you had same taste in music as him when i met you! Sham 69! Buzzcocks etc etc etc Im more a westlife and daniel beddingfield girl myself but have been to see weezer, buzzcocks and tomorrow, FRANZ!!!!

Ok am off to rest cos ribs burning again! catch ya later

bonkerz · 27/11/2005 22:36

Does anyone know where i can get nightime pants that are reuseable but not the itchy kind?[for my dd of course}....Think she wont manage to stay dry at night with knickers on though will with pull ups,but they are too much money....
Is anyone else up yet?????

ninah · 28/11/2005 09:34

glad ds is OK bonkerz, what a scare!
Mothership made me lol dq
I am such an idiot I booked today off work so NOT s'posed to be here at all, but having made the journey I am staying - will swap for Friday! could've done with a rest as had sleepless night worrying about 'the future'. P and I had talk on Sat night but didn't get much further in coming up with any sensible plans, and he's clammed up again although even the little bit of discussion we had lightened the atmosphere.

ninah · 28/11/2005 09:36

scully I don't think it was me who recommended cookie cutters, it doesn't seem like me
ah no, it was Nemo!

sweetheart · 28/11/2005 10:32

Just checking in this morning - before DQ starts thinking I'm in labour NO - I'm STILL HERE!!!!!!! Mind you still another 6 days to go really for me - I don't think this baby will be shifting any earlier.

Scully - YEAH 1st day of mat leave - I hope you are indulging yourself totally!!!

Right, gotta finish the clenaing - trying to get something going but it's just not working!

Jaysfirst · 28/11/2005 10:35

morning!

seems like we are all losing our marbles!! Roll on due dates that what i say!

going to a sale this morning in town, big dept store closing down so upto 90 off of everything.....could be bad news for my bank balance!

Hope everyone is ok.

Nemo1977 · 28/11/2005 11:00

hello all

SH were you on time with DD as apparently we tend to follow similair pattern well generally.

Ninah silly you but at least you know you have friday off now..lol

I have 17 days till induction. It is snowing here this morning so took adam in the garden this morning seeing as he woke me up with snow mummy snow and his wellies on with his pjs..lol So we went in garden for a bit then walked to local shops. Usually a half hour round trip but adam decided to walk the whole way there and back so took about an hour but he was sooo exctied about the snow it was worth it even if I do end up paying later..lol. Must admit was lovely to wake up with the snow and have tree up..lol

bonkerz · 28/11/2005 12:58

Afternoon all,

Ok so far today have hoovered all downstairs, painted conservatory walls, tidied out all toys, cleaned our new cooker, tided larder and chucked out skanky food!, sorted through all new feeding bits for baby and created room for them in kithcen. Am just going to start wrapping some presents for christmas then gonna iron DS uniform as he is off to friends at 6pm for sleepover then am off out to the concert!

bonkerz · 28/11/2005 16:23

NIGHTMARE!!!! Started snowing here in Leicester at 2pm and has just decided to start settling! Not very nice when DH and i have to drive to Nottingham tonight! Its supposed to be getting worse too so am hoping we dont end up being stranded in the snow at midnight tonight! Will be packing extra blankets and food just in case!

Nemo1977 · 28/11/2005 16:51

bonkerz hope you dont get caught in snow hun and hope concert is fab.

Ninah sounds like a good day at work to me..lol

ei nightmare for you being at womens again hope you are taking it easy.

Have done not a lot here today, my sister came to visit for a ocuple of hours then adam and I both went to bed for a couple of hours..lol Lazy and lumpy here.

george32 · 28/11/2005 17:06

Nemo, I'm with you, lazy & lumpy here too.
Feeling very very sorry for myself. I really didn't know that p/g was going to hurt so much in the later stages.
Also, had big row with DP last night & ended up missing our hospital visit. I cried my eyes out for about an hour, started to drive to see a friend but hurt so much I turned round again and had to sit in the bath then go to bed.
I had foolishly asked DP if he was fed up with me moaning and he missed the big hormonal warning triangle flashing above my head & said yes. Wrong answer or what!!

Anyway, sorry to unburden here. Everyone sounds very busy so hopefully that means that someone will be joining Flutter soon.
Hoping I'm a bit more cheery tomorrow.

Nemoinapeartree · 28/11/2005 17:13

aww george it is completely normal and your dp is probably thinking honesty is the best policy. Dh told me from the day we found out I was pg this time that he was dreading 6mths plus and yes I think he will still stick to that statement.
