I have today and tomorrow off work, which has been nice. Managed to get all my jobs done this morning (sent 4 packages of presents off to Aust and NZ), bought the last Xmas present left on my list, registered dd at a dentist and made an appt for her for next week & went to the bank. After all that, dd and I needed a hot chocolate at Costa
Had a scan and consultant appt this afternoon - baby is about 5lb7oz and head down, with everything measuring ok, so that was reassuring to hear. Different consultant to last time, and conflicting advice about when to go to hospital. She said today that I need to go as soon as my waters break or as soon as I know I'm having contractions, regardless of how far apart they are, because I'm a possible vbac. Whereas previously I've been told I can stay at home until they are 5min apart and regular. She was also cagey on the monitoring story, and I'm adamant that if everything is ok, I'm not being continuously monitored for the entire labour. If they try that I'll go home
So hopefully I'll make it to my next midwife appt on 9/12 where I can quiz her again. Think it will all depend on who I get in hospital as to how much arguing I need to do
Pretty tired now though, after being out most of the day, and dd and dh having their usual arguments (god knows what they will be like when dd is a teenager....) Just have a 2hr class tomorrow on 2nd stage of labour, then I think I'm going to relax and not do much else. dh seems to have perfected the art.....

ninah · 23/11/2005 16:43

so scully am I right in thinking you have ONE MORE day at work, Friday! wow! good for you
good news about baby, though I must admit I cooked a chicken of around that size a couple of weeks ago and it was HUGE - what are we DOING?! no wonder we are knackered
one more thing I meant to say to you, I thought your dd was a delight, most well behaved and putting my little delinquent to shame, and then I read she was actually winding you up, it just goes to show what we mums see and rest of world sees ...
George 'chat' was OK they are just a bit concerned cos ds being a total toad yesterday

scully · 23/11/2005 16:57

Ninah, a chicken She didn't see any feathers on the scan, but she did see hair, which even we could make out As dd was a baldy, that was a surprise.
Yes, it is funny what parents see, especially where there are hormones involved. Another good reason to have a 2nd child, takes the pressure of the eldest one!
& yes, just Friday left at work

ninah · 23/11/2005 17:00

well enjoy the rest of your week tho I suspect we will talk before then xx
off to get my little terror now! nice evening all
Sh sit tight! x

scully · 23/11/2005 17:02

And ds a toad - what was he doing? He was also well behaved at the lunch, it's a long time to sit still with a load of pregnant women
So no-one is breech anymore?

katzguk · 23/11/2005 17:04

Just wanted to pop over and wish you all the best especially sweetheart. As a December baby myself i think is the best month to be born in, although my mum doesn't recommend a Christmas day labour! I was born on the 26th

dramaqueen72 · 23/11/2005 17:30

justa quick hello ladies.......hurting here from a whole day shopping with dh, I used to shop for england now frankly I hurt after one dept store.......! got some slippers -last item incase i need a hospital bag i dont really 'do' slippers, -am barefoot hippy type but hey these are quite nice.
I may be still breech , no way of knowing for another week and a half!! v envious of everyone relaxing with knowing theirs is head down!!!
s/h god sorry missed the dh accident, really glad to hear hes okay tho. hugs to you, its very scary isnt it? and YES glad it wasnt his HGV!

my heating is being fixed tonight. oh great joy! cant blooody wait it soooooooooooooooooooooooo chilly if you move away from the heater...
scully, i have two parcels for USA to post asap, isnt it a pain having to be super organised to mail them so early!?
ninah, so what had ds been doing then bless him.....
now have to go out in freeeeeezing cold to deliver ds to guitar lesson. uh, rush hour ice, minus something...blurgh.

dh has organised his staff christmas do for dec 17th its staff only, not partners, but I'm abit.....miffed about it. i NEED him to be about all around that kinda date, not pissed with a bunch of dorks from work. NOW what happens if I go into labour? he'll be no use then will he. he thinks I'm being OTT when I say anything about it, but I just cant think of anything else but impending labour you know? help!!!!
george, its not certain you'll go over due you know!! you could be bang on time or early you know..eight weeks? i bet not!!

Nemo1977 · 23/11/2005 20:36

Evening all
not a lot been going on here apart from yet more tidying...lol Have put some stuff on here to try and sell so if anyone is after a cheap gamecube and games let me know.
House finally getting back into order, just scrubbed bathroom including tiles. Tommorow we are sorting out our bedroom and hoovering the upstairs rooms.
also going to see little britain tommorow night.

sweetheart · 23/11/2005 21:17

Just got back from an evening out and I'm knackered. Every year our town centre is closed so they can do a winter fait type thing with rides for the kids and stuff. We walked up and back so I've been on my feet for about 3 hours and my back is killing - if this doesn't bring on labour nothing will!

So tomorrow the countdown really starts - 10 days left I can't believe it!

Nemo1977 · 23/11/2005 21:20

ooo fingers crossed SH. Fate sounds lovely.

ei23mummy · 23/11/2005 21:23

evening ladies!! glad you all had a good day today!! me too!! i seem to have had a huuuuuge burst of energy today and have tidied our bedroom- it was getting really bad and i then recovered the ottoman at the end of our bed wit spare material i found during the 'big clean'!! the room looks actually like a grown-up room instead of a teenagers bombsite!! all i need to donow is hoover and its all done- til next week i dont doubt!!

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 23/11/2005 21:27

lol ei nesting must be in the air methinks...soo much tidying going on..

I have 21 days tommorow to go until i am induced which is scaring me so dont know how you must feel on 10 days SH.

Jaysfirst · 23/11/2005 21:41

i know what you mean ei , i have 38 odd days left, and i thought i was getting close....mad huh! everyone wil have their 'bouncing bundles of baby' and we will still have our 'bursting out of our bellies bump'!!!! ooo look at my illiteration!! SH HAS to be number 2 for sure....

god wallking round for three hours, i find it hard enough to walk up the stairs at the moment....

Wrapped my pressies this afternoon, and ordered the last few things, all i have to do now is buy some gift vouchers and then thats that!

Have parents in law coming at the weekend, so need to do some cleaning tomorrow and/or friday, DH isnt home till tomorrow eve so i might leave it till fri, then he can help!!

Just need to get a bag packed for hospital, am guessing i have plenty of time for that tho!

Nemo1977 · 23/11/2005 21:43

ok just a quick question from dumb second timer...when you are engaged what are the different levels is 1/5th mean fully in or just on brim/out?

ei23mummy · 23/11/2005 21:47

1/5th engaged means that the m/w can still feel 4/5th of the babys head out of the pelvis!! hope that helps hun

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 23/11/2005 21:49

so my notes say from the scan I am 4/5ths engaged so does that mean only a little bit of head is out of the pelvis?

ei23mummy · 23/11/2005 21:51

yup your nearly ready to go hun!!

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 23/11/2005 21:54

noooo dont say that.
Am getting confused as others say the opposite but she has done it from the scan not from feeling so does that make a difference?

ei23mummy · 23/11/2005 21:58

dunno hun i would have thought so tho cos they can see where the head is on a scan rather than feel iyswim! if it says 4/5th engaged then theres only 1/5th that can be felt/seen above the pelvis! thats how my m/w has explained it to me sort of!!

OP posts:
Nemo1977 · 23/11/2005 22:02

ohh darn it..lol I am happy but really dont want this baby to make a move yet as want a family xmas etc...I sound terrible dont I.

expatinscotland · 23/11/2005 22:14

Had last scan today. My hemoglobin levels are still in the toilet. I've been given some pink liquid to take.

Baby is above average in growth, but not ginormous, thankfully. Spot on 37 weeks. Not at all engaged, but midwife says many second babies don't at all until labour.

It is head down and in perfect position, so who knows?

I wish we could have had a peak between its legs, but they didn't go there, just checked a cross section of its waist, heart, cord, etc.

And showed us its large feet.

I may have to give up work next week. My anaemia is making me feel rubbish.

Dang, we have SO much to do yet. I've got a nice long weekend, so hopefully we can get the backlog of errands and chores cleared out.

Jaysfirst · 24/11/2005 08:03

morning all, crap night again with v little sleep and lots of pain, i am so fraustrated with it all... Have taken painkillers, co dyramol, perscribed from the doc for use when i cant cope any more, i hate taken things ( like most of you all) but i have come to hte conclusions that if i dont i might well be completely exhaustd and thats no good for bubs either... so hav decided to take them to see if they help... no such luck as yet thoguh

Supposed to be going to a coffee morning/playgroup with a friend and her 2 yr old...dont feel like it but have been on my own for two days with DH away so i might have to , if only to keep me in touch with the real world!

Still cold here, althgouh no froast this morning, expecting snow at the weekend so that would be nice...i love the snow.

Hope everyone else is ok, sorry theres no individual messages but i cant seem to remember whos done what and when!!

sweetheart · 24/11/2005 08:18

Just wanted to pop in quickly and say THANKS KATZ for the good luck message - I'll be sure to let you June ladies know when this baby appears Speak soon xxx

ninah · 24/11/2005 09:28

hello everyone! at slippers dq I don't normally wear much night attire and have to sort out stuff for hossie bag, don't want to do a bubbles de vere! Also I so empathise about the works do. Cos P is self employed and works with several firms he 'has' to go to hundreds, all around the crucial time and is more than likely to be psd in London or further afield with his mobile ringing in a noisy bar ... at least 17th is just the one night, I really don't think you will be that unlucky ...
oh, re chat, ds was being a pain, angry and fed up, poking other children and ripping pictures off the walls . Prob a combination of baby stuff, home life atm and he had a high temp last night so brewing a nasty bug. Good as gold ever since but home stuff needs sorting ... he said to me this morning 'shall I tell the ladies (as he calls nursery helpers) that daddy is naughty and makes you sad sometimes?' think he thought they can sort p out with a spot of time out or something ... but v worrying observation.
