mum2be79...am away at the moment and suffering from prickly heat which I never ever ever ever get normally no matter how hot it is.....probably a good idea to chat to your midwife before you go to ask re meds you are allowed to take for it when preg just in case you get what i have : ( as is not pleasant and wldnt trust med advice from anyone other than midwife who knows my whole med and previous preg history so am just suffering relatively silently!!!!

PS anyone having panic dreams about pregnancies / miscarrying??? Woke up absolutely horrified this morning after dreamt was heavily bleeding...am just so so anxious about this still...am lying each night trying desperately to be able to feel bubs moving ( my 2nd baby so apparently at 16wks it is v likely I wld feel it moving)....am so looking forward to coming home and hiring one of those doppler things but think i may get a tad obsessive and be hooked up 3 x a day : (

GiraffeAHolic · 25/07/2011 10:19

So excited, going to John Lewis tomorrow to have a look at prams. Not buying anything until after 20 weeks scan but need to start budgeting really. Also just found the Babystyle Oyster in Purple so got my eye on that too!

debs39 I'm 17 weeks with my 2nd and any movement I've thought I've felt could have been something else. Not felt much in the last couple of days. I considered a doppler but, like you, I can see me being constantly hooked up to it and panicking whenever I couldn't find a heartbeat.

redheadbedhead · 25/07/2011 11:07

debs39 funny you should say that cos last night I had my first pregnancy nightmare, I tried to wake my husband up after cos it was so horrible but he was fast asleep Sad

It wasn't even that bad like yours, but I dreamt the baby had come out today (! at 14weeks!) and because I hadn't had any antenatal or breastfeeding classes I didn't know how to feed it or look after it, so I kept running around crying asking people to help me and they were all laughing in my face really cruelly including my normally very lovely husband Sad

got some insecurities to deal with there i think !!

I was SURE I felt the piglet move yesterday, but I'm only 14 weeks so I guess that's a bit ridiculous...

and THANKS SO MUCH GUYS for allowing me to eat quiche!!!!!!! Grin Grin Grin I'm so happy!!!! can't believe I've been avoiding it, must have got mixed up somewhere. what an idiot.

thanks for the advice knittiekitty and good luck with your scan addictediam, hope it goes ok for you. Fingers crossed xxx

redheadbedhead · 25/07/2011 11:08

by the way has anyone else got really sore stomach muscles all of a sudden?? I haven't done anything different, or weightlifting or anything! just reeeaaaaalllly sore...

Oeisha · 25/07/2011 11:37

I can stick my hands up in the air re: bad dreams too. They're usually reflecting some anxiety I'm having about me/Yolkis. I get a similar thing if I'm getting low (history of depression) so I just kick in with my cognitive behavioural therapy exercises (basically, positive mantras, I write them out 10 times) every time I wake up with one, and usually before I go to bed too. I used to take "Bach's Rescue Remedy Night" before, I think it's baby-safe...so you might want to ask about that. Helps with repetative thoughts etc. Boots etc. usually stock it.
If what I've been feeling in there is Yolkis, not a tapeworm, and not odd hallucinations, then I've been feeling nudges/rubs since 13wksish. Now 15wksish and still getting them, though am getting more grand 'shifting' feelings too. Sure hope it is Yolkis as, well, I don't want to rear a tapeworm.

redheadbedhead · 25/07/2011 11:40

you might have difficulty getting a nursery place for a tapeworm Grin

Oeisha · 25/07/2011 11:41

GAH! Baby-brianed moron I am, I forgot to rant about why I logged-on.
Went to dr today as, well, I seem to have perpetual thrush. MW wasn't that concerned, so I've just been keeping going with the cream (it seems ok one day then damn irritating/sore the next). Dr now wants me to go back tomorrow for swabs. I assume to rule out stepB and the likes, but now that's a whole nother weeks of anxieties to handle (still haven't had my screening bloods back yet, GP doesn't have them on record either) and on top of that I have my first driving lesson for 7 years this afternoon (bloody hate being taught to drive)... Must keep chanting happy thoughts...

Oeisha · 25/07/2011 11:42

readhead Lol....

miamama09 · 25/07/2011 11:52

oeisha let us know how you get on with the results from Dr. I have the same problem and have used a whole tube of cream & a pessary, still not cleared it up. Got Dr next week to take swabs.
Also, feel like I've had a headache now for about 2 weeks, constantly!

good luck!

redheadbedhead · 25/07/2011 12:01

poor you oeisha you're not having such a great time of this pregnancy lark so far are you Sad how's the sickness lately, has that at least eased up a bit? i haven't been sick since thursday so i've got my fingers crossed that this is the end.....please.....

good luck with your driving lesson, you can do it!!! Grin

Mum2be79 · 25/07/2011 12:27

debs39 I suffered from intense and unusual prickly heat whilst in the Caribbean during April this year. I had NEVER suffered from it before and my arms were horrendous. They were bright red, itchy, swollen with hives/blister looking spots and felt like they were on fire. I was totally confused as to why it suddenly appeared but on looking back, I was actually 3-4 weeks pregnant and didn't know it so I'm putting it down to hormonal changes. Until you mentioned it, I had forgotten about it. pleased you did though because I'm not going through THAT again. A visit to the doctors or pharmacy is in the pipeline!

Sitting at home waiting for a delivery of gravel and planning officers to turn up as we're wanting a kitchen extension. I bet they don't turn up!

redheadbedhead · 25/07/2011 14:14

spoke too soon, just sicked up everywhere. boo hiss. pissed off. Sad

Capybara · 25/07/2011 14:22

Re. the food poisoning debate: DH and I got struck down bad last weekend (on day three of a romantic break - ha!) - onset was about 4-6 hours after ingestion (of some innocuous-looking grilled calamari) and symptoms lasted exactly 24 hours, so I reckon it was standard staph. aureus or similar - def. not listeria. Anyway, when I got back home last Tuesday I immediately phoned my obgyn - I actually wanted to come in for a scan, especially since we were planning to tell both sets of parents last week - and she told me that there's nothing to worry about unless the diarrhea (sp?) lasts longer than a couple of days. Apparently the problem is dehydration, so as long as you drink enough fluids you should fine. Obviously I can't be sure that all is ok in there, but I've certainly got all the usual pregnancy symptoms (plus some extra, following on the food poisoning) and I think I'm starting to feel little taps too (!)

mummyzoe2012 · 25/07/2011 14:25

has anyone else felt what feels like a tapping inside of your tummy when you lay down at night? im 14 weeks 3 days with my 1st is it movements or is that too early? also is anyone elses tummy gone quite hard?

Capybara · 25/07/2011 14:33

mummyzoe2012 - tapping is exactly the right word (can't remember who used it first) - I'm getting it too, and I'm 14 + 3 as well. Tummy is also quite hard. Told my husband's family, incl. teenage sister-in-law, over the weekend, and she spent the whole evening poking me in wonder :)

Oeisha · 25/07/2011 15:44

redhead thank you for asking. I'm still ver nauseous and still having headaches, but fingers crossed I haven't actually been sick properly for 3 days now. Only little bits, kind of an 'oops, obviously ate a little too much' vomit...been very close to full barfing, so not quite believing it's over. Still quite tired, though I do have a little more energy than this time 2 weeks ago. Managed to survive a whole shift at work and only a wee nap when I got in (2h or so).
I hope your puking abates soon too...it's just so disheartening when anything and everything will come back up.

Will let you guys know the outcome of the swabs (and if the swabs were anything as funny as my last smear was, I will no doubt tell you that too)...won't get the results for a week.

Oeisha · 25/07/2011 15:48

Oh and mummyzoe and Capybra Yolkis/tapeworm feels more like obvious tappings and scraping than the 'bubbles' or 'butterfly' movements people have told me to look for. I'm now getting 'shifting' feelings too. Sounds like it might be your babies! When I squidge down my ribcage to my pelvic bone, my uterus also is obvious to feel (less so when lying down for me). Freaks me out sometimes. THERE'S SOMEONE LIVING IN MY BELLY...

Oeisha · 25/07/2011 17:13

Wooohoo! Driving went ok. Despite not having done it for 7 years (got soooo close to passing and then hospital, mahoosively bad drugs blahblablah). Apparently I've stlil got a good feel for the car and am ok at clutch control and gear changes...
..just slightly paranoid about oncoming traffic and having too much to do when turning corners...
...still, no injuries/fatalities or puking so a success I think. [hsmile]

Oeisha · 25/07/2011 17:13

meh! can we not hsmile anymore?! ok... :o

Oeisha · 25/07/2011 18:59

MWHAHAHAHA! Thread domination!!! Apologies...
redhead I spoke too soon as well, was just sick... :( which is quite early for me, not even eaten dinner yet.

redheadbedhead · 25/07/2011 20:08

me too 3 times today Sad maybe it's just something in the air..... lets cross our fingers for tomorrow!

Mum2be79 · 25/07/2011 21:15

Am now thinking Baby A will be born in the hospital car park or on the A1079/A64/B1237 after watching panorama! I had a feeling there was a MW shortage but never did I think it was THAT bad! Hope York Hospital doesn't have the same problems.
My SIL's sister gave birth in Kent and went into labour on the Monday. Despite baby's heart dropping and her not progressing, she was desperate for a C-section by Wednesday morning. It took them until Thursday evening to decide it was the best course of action (her waters broke Monday night!). Afterwards she was in a lot of pain and one MW told her to hush and be quiet!! Luckily Baby C was healthy.
If I am anything like two colleagues at work (three gave birth within a month of each other), I won't make it out of the door. One was born 5 minutes after the paramedics, arrived on the bedroom floor, and the other had to be caught by mum before she ventured down the u-bend of the toilet!!

Moobee · 25/07/2011 21:15

Gah! The security check at Lyon airport normally takes 10 mins. This time, over an hour. I was still in the queue when the flight was due to depart. They held the flight so it was an hour late due to the queues but I made it at least. Then on way out of arrivals, there were some women walking at a normal pace in front. I was trying to get past, and this man kept trying to barge past me. I passed the women and the man physically pushed me out of the way, snarling ''move faster'.

I have to have my blood pressure measured tomorrow - trying to think of calm blue oceans... Oesiha - i need some of your positive affirmations! Grin

Mum2be79 · 25/07/2011 21:25

Push him back and shout at him not to mess with a pregnant lady. I've found that works wonders - not that I've needed to shout but being pregnant gets me a lot of perks!

Moobee · 25/07/2011 21:37

Mum2be - he'd already marched ahead. I did shout idiot after him, but he either didn't hear or didn't care. The latter is quite likely since he doesn't care about pushing people out of his way.

I saw the promos for the dispatches programme in the newspapers, not sure if I want to see it or not! There's quite a few women I know due in the same week as me. That is lovely but I do worry about space at the hospital. I keep thinking I might end up having the baby in a stable - very christmassy.
