Good luck pippy

I'm suffering from the headaches too. Just as the sickness seems to be on its way too. Rubbish!

It's so nice to have gone public now. I'm fully embracing the maternity clothes. I may only have a little bumpette at the moment, but they're so miuch more comfortable :)

sevendwarves · 03/06/2011 14:43

I know it's early but does anyone know what they're doing for Christmas yet? We had decided we were going to do Christmas dinner at our house and invite MIL and my parents. My EDD has changed to the 20th following my scan and I don't know what to do. I definitely want to stay at home as we'll likely have a newborn but don't know if it might be too much having people over as I know they'll likely hang around most of the afternoon. Do I cancel the big lunch for a small family Christmas and just have them over for a boxing day buffet or rudely tell them to bugger off after Christmas dinner?

Earwiggo · 03/06/2011 15:38

Seven - I think it depends whether they are the 'what can we bring' 'we'll clear up while the feed/cuddle baby' type of family or the type that expect to be waited on. I won't be doing any hosting this year and will hopefully have an offer of going round/home delivery of a xmas dinner!

I too have raging headaches, which is so not like me, and just when i'm not supposed to take paracetamol, grrrrrr...

ThePippy · 03/06/2011 16:03

Hi I'm back from the scan and all good news. Baby was wriggling and playing with its mouth with its tiny fingers. I was so relieved to see a real live baby in there and I think it was more exciting than with DD just because my expectations were so low. The nuchal measurement was slightly higher than DD's was (she was 1.8 this baby is 2.2) and I was 1:1100 risk with her so I am hoping it won't make it too much worse. They said I would get a call by the end of Tuesday/Wed morning if the blood test combined made me high risk. So happy that it all went well, I was sitting in my car before the appointment making a mental list of the positives if the news was bad (yes drinking wine was No.1) but I was happily mentally ripping it up as the baby wriggled about on the screen.

Here's to many more happy scans. Off to update the stats with my EDD of 6th Dec.

DarciesmumandBump2 · 03/06/2011 16:04

Hey Ladies, Marking my place.

Now I know this sounds strange but at night I'm sure I can feel flutterings i'll be 11wks on sunday. prob just wind lol..

Roll on 16th June scan time :)

plupervert · 03/06/2011 16:23

Ahhh, Pippy, that's very sweet. I am smiling at the thought of your little creature playing with its mouth!

KateM77 · 03/06/2011 16:37

Great news Pippy :)

There's no way I'm hosting Christmas this year Seven. Fortunately my Mum lives 20mins down the road so we'll stay at home overnight and just go to hers for the day. It's not like I'll be drinking anyway so can drive us all there and back

Mizza76 · 03/06/2011 16:50

Seven - I think you would be incredibly brave to host anything four days after you are due. If you are overdue you will be miserable and tired; and if you've had the baby you will be EXHAUSTED and in no position to organise anything. Well, I wouldn't be anyway - I actually avoided hosting anything major for a few months after I had my first kids (it was enough effort to get myself dressed in the morning....). Personally I would try my best to get invited out -- on the strict understanding that if I wasn't up to it, they would have to understand we weren't going to turn up!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 03/06/2011 20:09

I agree seven, I haven't even thought about Christmas but don't intend to lift a finger thankyou very much!! DS was 7 weeks old on his first Christmas, we went to stay with my mum and dad so we could concentrate on Ethan and nothing else

Iggly · 03/06/2011 20:13

seven you could have people over for boxing day and they bring food. But have a backup host in case baby turns up too close?

For Xmas we'll probably go to the ILs. Baby is due 2 dec and if it's late like DS then still have a couple of weeks before Xmas.

That's great news Pippy! it's so nice to see the little one. I hope the blood test results are ok.

LittleMissFlustered · 03/06/2011 22:27

My scan isn't until near the end of the month. Seeing as I have chosen not to have the nuchal screening they don't seem in any rush to do the rest. Ho hum.

Feeling bit rough today. My hay fever has remembered it exists and I think I have managed to catch the sun despite wearing sunblock. Bugger. Quiet day tomorrow I think. I may even sleep all day if I can get away with it.

sevendwarves · 03/06/2011 22:57

Thanks everyone. I've spoken to DH about it and he agrees we should have a quiet family Christmas and if our parents don't like it it's just tough. Going to their's for Christmas often seems more stressful than hosting at ours but I just know if we have them over I won't be able to get rid of them!

pippy glad the scan went well.

flustered how many weeks will you be then? I opted not to have the nuchal screening but it didn't seem to delay mine thankfully.

I've had a good day today. My maternity prescription exemption arrived so I can now book a dentist appointment as it'll be free. Also DH took out a loan to pay off some debts (previous loan and credit card) and borrowed enough extra to buy a phil & teds which has just saved me £400!

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 05/06/2011 08:08

Flustered I totally made the sunscreen mistake too. I'm religious about putting it on my have every day anyway but we finished rehearsals yesterday so all Hung out in the sun for an hour afterwards and because I never burn I just didn't think. Forgot about increased skin sensitivity in pregnancy and ended up with a slightly pink chest, whoops.

I've had really painful tummy pains the last few days. Feels like trapped wind but am going to the toilet normally. Have a mw appt this avo. Should I be worried? Wasn't before now but its gone on since Friday so am starting to. Any ideas for useful remedies?

BeeMyBaby · 05/06/2011 09:23

Girlwiththemouseyhair my DH jus suggested drinking lots of water to shift any wind, even though I wasn't blocked up at all, just doubled over in pain, worked really well and after 4 hours I was pain free.

xstitch · 05/06/2011 13:07

Has anybody found their breasts more sore and hard now they are further on. I have been really sore the last 3 days.

Xiaoxiong · 05/06/2011 18:56

xstitch I haven't had that experience but maybe I've just got used to it since they were so unbelievably sore between 6 and 10 weeks (ish).

The only things I've noticed recently are headaches, weight gain/tummy bloat and sore hips and sciatica (and a few sore twinges in my lower abdomen when sneezing and yawning).

I ordered a yoga for pregnancy dvd and did the whole practice yesterday and it was like magic, I felt so much better afterwards. Pregnancy Health Yoga with Tara Lee, highly highly recommended - I think I'll be trying to do the full practice a couple of times a week from now on. I used to do yoga at least once a week and have just been too busy the last year or so, and it was really helpful to have a dvd which said things like "if you find you're having rib pain/sciatica/spd/etc, do this pose".

msbuggywinkle · 05/06/2011 19:23

Tylepherion thanks for the reccomendation, I have a Pilates for Pregnancy (Lyndsey Jackson) that I love, it really helped my back with DD1 and 2 but I fancy something different this time and I do like yoga.

Met up with a good friend who is due a week after me today, it was great, this is her 3rd too so we were enjoying chatting.

GirlWithTheMouseyHair · 05/06/2011 20:18

Brilliant recommendation. I got really into bikram yoga before bfp, possibly the worst yoga to do once you're pregnant, so would be great to get into something similar now

LittleMissFlustered · 05/06/2011 22:09

Seve, I'll be thirteen weeks to the day on the day of my scan. My last two pregnancies the scan has happened at about eleven. I'm not putting myself on the stats thread until the scan is done though. I am severely paranoid at the minute :/ Midwife has estimated due date on the 28 day scale, as I expected, even though I told her my cycle is 32 days. Would appear that I will be stuck with a date for 29th, though I expect to go over into January.

Have had a dietary breakthrough. I can handle dairy again! Well, I can handle small amounts. I can do a small cheese sandwich, though a cheese based pasta sauce still gives me issues. I am experimenting with a toasted sandwich this evening. It is cooling beside me as I type. Keep your fingers crossed please folks...

jomouse · 05/06/2011 22:14

I was also into Bikram and miss it loads even though I know it wouldnt be the best thing to do now. I'll check out that yoga DVD, sounds like a goodun, doing a fair bit of Power Plate stuff now which seems to do the trick and have started the dreaded Kegels...

OP posts:
plupervert · 05/06/2011 22:59

Oooh, LittleMIssFlustered, that is great news about dairy! We recently reintroduced dairy to DS, and it was just gorgeous to see his little face when eating real chocolate and cheese again. You're both in time for summer ice creams! Smile

Thanks, everyone else, for the helpful yoga tips. I've never been a yoga/pilates type, but my lower back is aching already, sometimes sharply, so targeted exercises sound just the thing! Thank you.

kri5ty · 06/06/2011 08:47

hey guys i have a food breakthrough too...

I could cook and eat a chicken breast yeterday, without the mere thought of it turning my stomach yay!! Lets hope this is the end to me only being able to eat junk food because im sure thats the cause of my weight gain and not pregnancy lol

Tyelperion did you do yoga before? I have never done it, but was thinking of getting a dvd, do you think it would be easy enough for me to follow?

ThePippy · 06/06/2011 09:15

Morning all - thanks for the kind words. I haven't had a chance to log on all weekend but it looks like it has been a quiet one all round.

I am also definitelty getting back to normal on the food - I was really not into eating at all (everything turned my stomach) but now it is almost normal
again.

Really starting to feel things now - heavy feeling in pelvis and definitely can feels movements, which just feels like tickling inside at the moment. We haven't told DD yet - not sure when the best time will be as she is only 21 months. I definitely want to take her to the 20wk scan, so might just wait until then. Anyone else got very little ones who plans to tell soon?

sevendwarves · 06/06/2011 10:04

Hope everyone has had a good weekend, great to hear about the food breakthroughs. I'm pretty much eating normally now except at breakfast time when there's just nothing I fancy eating.

pippy I'm very jealous you're feeling movements already, how exciting!

Xiaoxiong · 06/06/2011 10:06

kri5ty I did do some yoga before, but I was in no sense an expert practitioner - I thought this DVD was excellent and seemed to assume that many people would never have done yoga before might be starting with this DVD once they got pregnant, and recommended lots of alternatives if you couldn't get into the full poses, like putting a cushion under your hips or staying on your knees rather than standing all the way up in some positions if you're not so flexible or used to yoga.
