Got my BFP on a CB digital this morning - absolutely thrilled, first baby for us after just two months of trying at 'grand old age' of 35, so feeling incredibly lucky today but also still in shock - had mentally prepared myself for BFN, have even been back in to the bathroom a few times to look at the test again to make sure LOL. Very nervous also as hearing too many mc stories recently, but have to stay positive!

Have added myself to the list :-)

hey bill that sounds like the perfect way to spend a morning. Nothing so relaxing for us, a howling dog begging to go out meant dh had to take him for a spin ruond the block. Then it's big food shop as soon as i can get myself into gear then a walk around a reservoir with the mutt. Home made Curry for tea and veg out infront of the telle.

puzzletree · 19/06/2011 11:06

Bill I dream of a huge new bed. Need a huge new bedroom first unfortunately, but hopefully one day....
DP has had lots of father's day treats. I even made bacon sandwiches this morning even though I don't eat bacon (am vegetarian) and the smell is revolting to me at the best of times. To be honest he doesn't seem appreciative enough of all this effort!!!

EsmeWeatherwax · 19/06/2011 11:22

Morning all. Dh is away working today, so no effort required for fathers day here, which is just as well, cos I am sooooo shattered! Don't remember being this tired with the last two. Dd1 is parked in front of mulan, I just have no parenting energy today at all.

gonerogue · 19/06/2011 12:15

HI All,

Well after getting to my bed at 1 a.m. I then slept through DD waking up so DH had to get up with her. And I only wokr up at 11 Grin

This bus is getting crowded isn't it - congratulations to all the new arrivals. It's going to be good craic.

Pam last time my doc told me that there was a "baby boom" and the public system was overloaded so she thought 20 weeks, thankfully I got my first scan at 15 weeks, but I am taking no chances this time around and getting myself in there as soon as possible. Not sure about whether there is another baby boom now but better to be prepared right? Grin

Bill that sounds like the best night/morning combo ever. I can't wait until my DC are old enough to bring us breakfast in bed - (note to self teacH DD how to make cuppa asap [GRIN])

I agree with Puzzletee it's not easy to believe it's real until you see the first scan and a wriggling bab. Hearing the heartbeat lat time was how I started believing it because of the delay in scans (see above)

Right DH has just made me breakfast so better go and eat it. I love the way he treats me when I'm pregnant - nothing is too much for him and he looks after me so well. I'm lucky I know.

babycarmen · 19/06/2011 12:49

Yeah i think it will sink in when i see the heartbeat on the scan - hopefully next weeks! and hear it at midwife appointments. I love that part :)

Hope you are all having a lovely Sunday, we just had homemade soup for lunch and now for a lazy sunday i think :)

MissRedIndie · 19/06/2011 13:30

Bill I am so jealous of 14 hours sleep in a row!!

Had a good day so far, up early with DD (9 months) (hard work after a rare late night out with the girls last night - blatantly got busted when they realised my cocktail was only £5 while theirs were £12 each!). Off for a bit of baby swimming, while DH spent the morning in bed recovering from his chemo on Friday.

Then off to McDs for a very unglamorous father's day lunch - apparently it was all he could face eating (and I'm not one to complain about having a cheeky McDs, though admittedly not very healthy for this 4 week old baby!)

Welcome Goosey! I know what you mean about needing to check the tests again and again...I've done 4 tests now as the line is so faint on all of them that I keep thinking I've imagined it! I should have just bought one of those 'pregnant/not pregnant' tests then I wouldn't have needed a PhD in line interpretation!

currybaby · 19/06/2011 14:01

harriet and chocolatesparkles I'm really sorry to hear what you're going through and I hope you're getting lots of support.

Having a very lazy day here too. Haven't really got the energy to do anything much. I've got my scan booked for 21 July and first midwife appointment on 5 July. do you get to hear the heartbeat at the midwife appointment then babycarmen ? that would be amazing I thought I would have to wait until the scan. Do you take partners to midwife appointments??

PDog · 19/06/2011 14:17

Sounds like a lovely morning bill.

I have spent most of the morning in the kitchen, first making blueberry pancakes for breakfast then starting the prep for the roast pork we are having later. Also made DH's favourite triple choc brownies for pud. Just having a sit down and a cuppa before I need to start putting things in the oven.

Is your DH not well missred? Must be tough with a 9mo and another on the way.

DH is worse than me about not believing it. I am 5 days late though and the line came up straight away on the test. I had to get a cb test to convince him last time!

PDog · 19/06/2011 14:21

Iirc don't think they can hear the heartbeat until about 16 weeks. They tell you not to worry if they can't hear it the first time because it depends on the position the baby is in. The midwife will monitor it at every appointment after 16 weeks though.

PamBeesly · 19/06/2011 14:22

Thanks for the info gonerogue :)

QueenFee · 19/06/2011 14:48

Because I had already had 2 last time I heatd the babys heartbeat at 10 wks and felt faint kicks at 11 weeks. There is something to be said for my saggy belly huh!

I think it was more like 12 weeks and 16 weeks with my 1st.
I really hardly believe it. I keep questioning my sanity at having a 4th on the days when the other 3 play up!
I have been feeling a bit better bit still very tired. However thos has been helped by dc3 starting to sleep through more reliably :)

At one point they stopped giving 12 week scans here (n wales) so really hoping I get one this time

BillComptonstrousers · 19/06/2011 14:57

Hats off to all you ladies who have little tiddlers to look after, it must be be exhausting!

Well, after my marathon sleep last night and long lie in, my day just got jammier! Went to town to return a tshirt for DH, he is away all next week so went to M & S bought a weeks worth of ready meal to go in the freezer ( I know, so lazy)

Came home feeling sick as a dog to find my mam doing my mountain of ironing Smile

So I'm back in bed!

Oooh PDog can I come to yours for tea?

Ambrosial · 19/06/2011 15:01

Have added myself to the list.
Having POAS 3 times, I think it's starting to sink in ;-)

Thinking of those who have had sad news, and hello to the other list newbies.

melliebobs · 19/06/2011 15:58

Just bin for a walk with dh and the dog and we decided. Right thats it. We NEED to tell someone! Weve kept it to ourselves for 5 whole days so we decided to tell dh's mum. We think it will feel like a weight has been lifted, we are ao excites and no one to share it with! So we bobbed round on the way back. I spent 40 mins psyching myself up in the car AND SHE WASN'T EVEN IN!!!!!!! Argh! We're going round in a bit though. Wish us luck!

gonerogue · 19/06/2011 15:58

Bill can your mum adopt me please? Envy

gonerogue · 19/06/2011 16:03

Melliebobs that's just sod's law. Good luck telling her later. Grin What kind of dog do you have? I have 3 - 2 terrier crosses and a german shepherd/labrador cross.. lots of walking for me. Grin

melliebobs · 19/06/2011 17:43

hi gonerogue I have a patterdale terrier. He is, quite literally NUTS! But such a cutie so can get away with anything!

Just told MIL, it went down really well, she had a bit of a cry. Phew. Don't feel like i'm going to burst now!

MissRedIndie · 19/06/2011 19:27

Isn't it just the best thing telling people the news Mellie?! The evening I told DH, I said 'I has some great news today, my best NCT friend is pregnant! And that's pretty exciting as her baby is due the day before mine!'. He looked very confused for a moment, and then crazy shocked, and then burst into tears! Bless.

Pdog, think you'd joined after I'd told everyone that DH got diagnosed with testicular cancer a month or so ago. Got my period back after breastfeeding around the same time, so we thought we'd try for another baby immediately given that he'll probably be infertile after the chemo. It worked! Obviously very pleased, but crapping myself about how I'm going to manage DD whilst pregnant. Fingers clamped cross for no morning sickness like last time. Have to move house as well in the next 9 months, nothing like a bit of pressure to ensure no one wants to buy ours!

PDog · 19/06/2011 21:09

Twas yummy Bill. No leftovers unfortunately Grin. Making the most of it as last time the smell of cooking made me want to heave - not sure what I am going to do about cooking for DD if I feel the same this time around.

I remember that feeling well Mellie. Last time DH and I agreed to keep it secret until after the scan but we both told our parents and best friends!

Sad and [happy] for you MissRed Wonderful news but sounds like it is a stressful time for you.

mistressploppy · 19/06/2011 21:20

Hello new people!

Just popping in so my place is marked, otherwise I'll never catch up!

Nothing new to report, still no symptoms Confused

melliebobs · 19/06/2011 21:22

We won't be telling n e one else till after the scan. My mum had a complete meltdown over turning 50 in January, this news just now might tip her over the edge! Me n me mum arent particularly close and even though deep down shell be excited shell find someway to make me feel bad n create some drama! We did feel a bit mean that weve told Mil and then said 'don't tell anyone!'. Didn't do anything amazing to tell dh though. I didn't want to poas cos I thought it would jinx it and bring on af but he apparently KNEW I was pregnant so asked me to do one. He was at work in a meeting so sent him a photo of the test and instructions! Classy lol

louby86 · 19/06/2011 22:43

Well we were only telling close family and our 2 best friends until the mother in law outed me in front of half the extended family on our coach trip to Ascot! I was horrified! She thought she was being discreet too! She walked over to the table I was sitting on and said 'I wish you'd tell people now, it's doing my head in. Just say to them if they've got suspicions about me feeling sick in the morning then they're correct' MIL then walked off and left me with a table full of people staring at me!

On a lighter note, I don't know how you guys cope with your symptoms whilst looking after the rest of your family! Hats off to you! I cleaned the living room and kitchen today after planning to do the whole house and had to stop and sit down, I felt like I'd done a marathon!

aj71 · 20/06/2011 07:25

Still haven't told anyone. Really hoping to not tell anyone till after our 12 week scan.

I'm seeing my midwife today. I am 7+1 so
hope she doesn't think it's too early to see her.

withoutanet · 20/06/2011 07:46

Nervous to be posting as it's still super early at 4+ weeks but too excited to keep it a secret--we tested positive twice yesterday (Happy Father's Day!!) It's my first and DP's 2nd (DSS is 7). I'm 37 - any other over 35's in this group yet?

(Congrats all around!)
