Anybody else out there?????
Very surprised, had only SWI once and I thought we had missed the window of opportunity. It seems not, BFP yesterday, royal wedding treat. EDD about 2nd Jan I think.

#2 for me, keeping fingers tightly crossed as had a bumpy ride before conceiving DS. Very excited and slightly terrified. :)

Morning Ladies! And congrats to newbies!

Broody Iv always found nibbling on a RichTea biscuit help with the nausea. Maybe a variety of biscuits might mke people less suspicious. Good Luck

mum2be thats reassuring news for you, you must be relieved.

Iv been shattered and in bed for 10pm everyday recently, starting to wonder how the hell I am going to survive Brownie camp this weekend. Im going to be a grumpy zombie by the end of it.

Its soo sad about Kelly Brook isnt it. My sis-il had been keeping a close eye on Kelly as they were due only a few weeks apart. She's in a bit of shock at the idea of losing the baby at 5+months.

ghosteditor · 10/05/2011 12:50

welcome mercyme and congrats!

I'm just about to go out for a work lunch, the first since my BFP (given my profession, there are a lot of lunches, but this one is with colleagues). Since I'll be avoiding wine, coffee, and my beloved feta (since all the advice is so contradictory - anyone have a definitive answer on whether it is ok?) I'm going to have to keep the conversations going to avoid anyone noticing my change of eating habits!

Mama5isalive · 10/05/2011 13:13

Oh fish - forgive me for overlooking your job situation is there any chance of maybe signing with a agency so you can pick and choose when you want to work?
The news of Kelly Brook - has totally winded me also i guess every week that passes you just pray all will be well.
Lets all stay positive and pray for our lil beans to stay safe and put.
Im prayer for comfort for kelly & partner at this time of sadness.

hotcrossSES · 10/05/2011 14:25

Morning all! I have a day to myself today but probably a good job as I'm feeling a bit off colour. Not nausea as such, but almost and not light-headed but almost. Also a bit hormonal and emotional. The joys eh?!

We had a very busy weekend with DS's 2nd birthday so that probably added to my body needing to take a break now! He had a great time and really got used to the whole presents, cards and candles :)

Welcome to all the newbies - I'll dig the list out at some point and update it.

fishandlilacs - sorry to hear about your job. Is it for definite? What sort of work do you do? How easy would it be to find something else (or is that a stupid question in the current economic climate?) Sorry if I'm being too nosy!

ghosteditor - hope your distraction techniques work over lunch!

I phoned my GP this morning to get an appointment - nothing available until Tues next week. I really wanted to get in and see her sooner. Like Spag, I have an underactive thyroid and was under a consultant last time. Oh well, I'll still only be 6wks by then so not the end of the world!

purpleteapot · 10/05/2011 15:22

Hi all and congratulations to everyone :) wondering if I could join?
I'm very new to this mumsnet fandango and also to being pregnant!
POAS on 3rd May and got BFP! Unexpected but me and DP are extremely happy (if not still in shock). Mumsnet EDD says I am 7th January and this will be our first one. Currently at uni away from home and DP; really hard to keep quiet about it all but seen as I haven't been to the doctors, I think I'm best not saying anything yet.
Horrible sore boobs and period-pain like aches but other than that just enjoying basking in it all secretly!

Hope everyone is well!

(correct me if I'm not using the abbreviations, I'm just trying to pick up on it all!)

ghosteditor · 10/05/2011 15:28

hi purpleteapot and welcome to the list; congratulations!

hotcrossSES think I made it through lunch alright and there was a new veggie option on the menu so I had an excuse to change from the old favourite feta salad. Phew. Right. Only eight more weeks of changing the subject to go!

summerfruitsalad · 10/05/2011 15:54

ghost feta is fine, I am a feta addict and it's all ok! Can't have my salads without them.

Ahhh, welcome to all the newbies, the list is growing!

Question for the 2nd timers plus, are you showing earlier? I am 6+2 and my stomach is harder and more rounded! I haven't lost the jelly belly, far from it so have had a big tum since DS but I wasn't expecting it this early!

Kind of wondering where my symptoms are, feel a bit poo in the morning but not off my food or anything, its very weird.

Mum2be79 · 10/05/2011 16:34

Wow hotcrossSES

I didn't realise how many of us on here is due so close to each other!

I'm going back to work tomorrow (I teach Y1 children) after a week off due to suspected DVT which has been confirmed that i do not have!!!!

ghosteditor · 10/05/2011 16:45

summerfruit that's awesome news! I've read totally contradictory advice on feta so far, and I love it too so I was all Sad . It seems to me like if it's pasteurized it should be fine as I'm not sure it's considered a soft cheese. Almost certainly fine here in the UK but I'm going to Cyprus next month so may need to avoid feta in local restaurants. Something for me to ask the GP, maybe, and an incentive to make an appt!

Sigh. I doubt this will be the last subject about which I'll receive contradictory advice...

MabliD · 10/05/2011 18:07

DH is now stealing tins etc. off me as I cook to see if I'm allowed to eat the contents! The advice barely makes sense anyway and now he's trying to take chopped tomatoes away from me! And salad in a bag for goodness sake, that's my food staple (I'm a very lazy 'cook'). hotcrossES - my GP didn't have an appointment till next Tuesday either, snotty receptionist asked me if it was an emergency to which I had to say no of course, but it feels like one to me.

Symptoms are cracking on aoace and the line is now as dark as the control line when I POAS (I can't help it - I think I'm an addict), so that's a comfort. The agonising boobs, constant need for the loo (everyone tells you about the weeing, no one warns you about the rest!), exhaustion, huge appetite and heavy/achey feelings in hips/stomach are reassuring too, but I still can't stop knicker checking. I don't think I believe this is actually happening at all yet to be honest! Unlike DH, who seems to have told half the population of our town already Hmm. Hope everybody's feeling okay considering!

Mama5isalive · 10/05/2011 19:08

hi all ( waving my very tired arm and grinning ear to ear)
its strange in thee "wot u can&cant eat" section different books and sites says and advise different things!
im quite happy not to fond of soft cheeses or sea food, dont drink or smoke so havent had to give up much apart from my love of late nite tv- i just cant stay awake! Grin
im wandering why when it comes to making appts with dr/midwife/nurse they say next week or even further is there a baby boom so all appts are gone????
i guess 1st/2nd timer want reassurance of dates etc, me 4timer just wants to get it in writing so i can then let my manager know! it dawned to me that im putting myself and unborn bean at risk doing the whole lifting files, walking up loads of stairs and entering work sites that may be deemed unsafe!
why also when you call the receptionist they asked so many questions its like an interview!!!!!!!!!Hmm
anyway im off for a quick lay down while my ds is also napping, the other kids can fend for themselves! Grin

Buttertart · 10/05/2011 19:37

Anyone else still not having many symptoms? Had occasional wave of nausea over weekend, although that's all I had with DS, but other than feeling increasingly exhausted during the day, nada! I'm trying to be positive, but am often too tired to keep the evil negative gremlins at bay.

I realise this is v bad, but I plan to lie be vague about the start date of my last cycle so I can get an earlier scan date. I am ashamed, but am desperate to know that things are ok!

LaBobkin · 10/05/2011 19:50

Ha Ha MabliD - my DH is on food monitoring duty as well... but my appetite has completely gone. He's also told half his family and friends in spite of us agreeing to wait till after the 12 week scan when we got the BFP. Men, eh?

Buttertart - still hasn't sunk in for me yet, I am having symptoms but am still paranoid...

Also starting a new contract next week (I work freelance), great timing eh!

fifitrixabelle78 · 10/05/2011 20:35

Hey everyone- have discovered Nairn's stem Ginger oat biscuits on the recommendation of my friend who's 14/40 and thankfully emerged out the other side of morning sickness. I have to say they're pretty good- v dry and a little spicy from the Ginger. Also, they don't look like classic Ginger biscuits fir anyone not wanting to alert their colleagues etc

Browncoats · 10/05/2011 20:55

Good shout fifitrixabelle78, I'm going to invest in some tomorrow Smile

I'm showing already too (someone mentioned it earlier)! I can't believe I'm showing already. My friend is 16 weeks and isn't showing as much as I am.

MercyMe · 10/05/2011 21:40

Hi everyone - congrats on the latest bfp's!

summerfruitsalad this is my second pregnancy and although I am only 4 weeks i definitely feel that shape has changed. Belly is very bloated! In fact a couple of people asked me last week if I was expecting, I was not impressed! Didn't know at that point!

Buttertart I'm not having lots of symptoms either. Sore boobs which come and go, a bit or heartburn and that's it. Had a bit of freak last night that boobs were feeling fine, but they were aching again by morning!

I thought 2nd time around I would be less anxious about it all, but looks like i'll be as bad as 1st time!

shonnomanom · 10/05/2011 22:07

Hidiehi
Welcome/congrats newbies

summer Im also feeling larger this time round. Dp thinks im being paranoid but im being selective with my clothing on purpose.

mum2be congrats on no dvt

mumma5 there is a definate baby boom here. No thanks to the 3 weeks of terrible snow we had end of nov/early dec. I know 9 (yes 9) babies due within 3 weeks of one another August into September!

mercyme 2nd time round im actually more worried, perhaps because I found out so much sooner.

Sho x

purpleteapot · 11/05/2011 00:24

Buttertart I don't have anything other than sore boobs every now and again!
Waiting for morning sickness to kick me in the backside some point soon.

Been scouring the internet for jobs as well as maternity advice all night; revising for my uni exams has gone right down the pan this week! Will just have to hammer it at the weekend Grin

Broodyandnew2this · 11/05/2011 07:19

fifirixabella thanks for the advice, and shannomanon I will def pick up an assortment to distract inquisitive colleagues from any ginger preference! :) As a general question out to all lovely mums2be, at how many weeks have you/do you intend to tell your boss? I work in a v small company, in the construction industry, so feel that the boss will probably need to know sooner than later....? Any suggestions welcome!

ghosteditor · 11/05/2011 09:31

broody, I'm a bit concerned about this too. I work in a very small company so there's no chance of hiding it if I start to get sick, and they'll probably notice me get fat too! Plus they have never had anyone on maternity leave in the European office before, so head office won't know about UK law and the UK office won't have a precedent. I think I need to read up on my rights!

I am planning on leaving it until 12 weeks, not least because I started a new role in the company in Dec and July 1 is our new fiscal year, so I'll be having reviews and hopefully a pay rise from July.

It sounds like you may need to see something earlier though if you're in the construction industry, but I guess it depends on your responsibilities.

fishandlilacs · 11/05/2011 10:57

Morning all Mums to be and tiny bump shrimps ?:)

Has anyone else got back ache? I have awful sore back ache-it's really hot and stiff (sounds like ehat got me in trouble in the first place) and sore.

Other than that I have had a few days of very mild nausea and sore boobs but no other symptoms.

TandB · 11/05/2011 12:30

I definitely feel pregnant!

I am knackered by lunchtime, ravenously hungry at all times, have permanent mild stomach ache and sore hips. With constant low level nausea.

I am not happy!

clarde21 · 11/05/2011 12:35

Hi Ladies

Can I join too please? Just found out yesterday that I am pregnant again. Got a 8 month DS and EDD is 8 Jan.

I am 28 and DH is 32 and I am still on maternity leave so all a bit of a shock really, but pleased. Just terrified over logistics of having two under 18 mnts!!

No really symptoms, just had that feeling. Was lucky with DS1 that I didn't have any morning sickness and had a really easy pregnancy. Worried that I won't be so lucky this time around.
