Anybody else out there?????
Very surprised, had only SWI once and I thought we had missed the window of opportunity. It seems not, BFP yesterday, royal wedding treat. EDD about 2nd Jan I think.

#2 for me, keeping fingers tightly crossed as had a bumpy ride before conceiving DS. Very excited and slightly terrified. :)

morning slightly and welcome to the list! I'm sure your faint line will get darker over the next few days too! I've taken a few HPTs before so immediately recognised that this one was different (it only took a few seconds to start to show up but then I forced myself to go away for 2 mins and come back!) It was a definite plus sign on day 26 (26 to 28 day cycle usually) but I didn't really believe it until I did a clearblue yesterday (day 28). It was the middle of the afternoon and I'd only just gone to the loo a couple of hours before but it was a very definite 'pregnant 2-3 weeks'.

Anyway so what I'm trying to say is that I know what you're going through!

I've had some nausea but no vomiting but no other symptoms as yet. There's plenty of time, I'm sure...

congratulations!

Mum2be79 · 09/05/2011 10:48

Hi.
Would love to join.
I was confirmed pregnant on Friday 6th May and due 6th January 2012 - so it makes me 5 weeks and 3 days?

I have slightly cramping low down and sore breasts. I am trying to get excited about the pregnancy but I'm worried that it won't last.

We've been trying since September. I asked about Norethisterone to stop a period in the middle of my holidays and asked if it would affect a pregnancy if one occurred. My nurse assured me it wouldn't. I took a pregnancy test 3 days before I was due and it was negative so I continued to take Norethisterone for 6 days. 3 days after stopping, my period had not arrived. I had sore breasts (as I normally do before a period) so thought my hormones needed a kick start. 8 days later, i went to the doctor for a sick note (being treated for suspected DVT) and mentioned it and he confirmed I WAS pregnant. He said I was at a slight risk of an ectopic and that was it! Now after (maybe stupidly) researching on the net I find that Norethisterone can not only slow the embryo's path to the uterus but can also prevent it from embedding.

Symptoms are slight cramping very low down above the pubic bone area, some nausea and very tender breasts. No bleeding whatsoever.

fifitrixabelle78 · 09/05/2011 11:07

Welcome mum2be79! Quiet congratulations! Is there any way you could get scanned early at EPU if you've got slight inc risk of EP? Might put your mind at rest.

Nausea really kicked in for me over weekend- need to eat every 1-2 hours or feel so ill and hypoglycaemic it's horrific. No actual vomiting yet - not looking forward to this for the next few weeks. Rock on 2nd trimester- fingers crossed.

Mum2be79 · 09/05/2011 11:37

I am certainly going to insist on an early scan because if I do have an EP, then surely the treatment would be less invasive and more chance of my fertility being spared!

Don't think they'll be able to do one until 6 weeks?

Period like pains is normal isn't it? They are less now than they were a week ago.

GiraffeAHolic · 09/05/2011 11:42

Is anyone else really suffering with bloating? I'm 6 weeks today and I swear I have a bump already. Really hoping it's just water retention and will go down.

Those of you on your 3rd and plus pregnancies, when did you start to show with your second? I have a wedding to go to at 11wks5days and daresn't but a dress yet Confused

Spagbolagain · 09/05/2011 12:26

God yes, bloated. Guts are in fact all over the place too.
Feel a bit like a blob.
I do still have some crampy stuff as well. Can't work out if it is womb or due to wind /bloat!

First MW appt this morning. Lordy, had forgotten how much paperwork there is, and everything having to be filled in in longhand, hardcopy. Same community MW as last time which I am pleased about. Feels slightly more real now, but don't think will sink in properly till scan.

shonnomanom · 09/05/2011 12:31

mum2be79 whispers of congrats and good luck to you. I would depand a early scan as well.
Period like crapms are 'normal'. Quite a few of us had similar discomfort last week.

giraffe not sure if its bloating or whatever, but I am no longer comfortable in my knee length jeans. They were loose about a month ago! My whole belly area has been tender to the touch over the last few weeks and I swear I already look 'with bump' rather than my usual cake/post baby fat belly. Dp says im just being paranoid. But it was that tenderness that made me poas in the first place.

I would hold off getting a dress until nearer the time if you could help it Giraffe.

Cant help but compare this pregnancy to my first (i hear you saying 'no pregnancies are alike Smile ), a part from the huge, sore boobs I dont remember any other signs until 8-9/40wks first time around.

ghosteditor · 09/05/2011 12:39

gosh, spag , did you organise a MW appt already? I was going to hang about for a few weeks but you're making me feel lazy! Are you at about 5-6 weeks, then?

I'm still a bit crampy too although I think it's subtly different from AF cramps - more in my belly than my back, where I usually feel it. And yes, bloated and a bit nauseated especially if I don't eat for a few hours. I am very much in need of shedding a few pounds before a girly holiday in four weeks but at this rate I'm going to look all puffy instead.

mum2be79 welcome and congratulations! I am not certain, not being a medical person, but I'm pretty sure that the embryo would have to have implanted by now, so at least that risk should be out of the way. I think you're right to be firm about early scanning due to the marginally increased risk of EP. Poor you, getting bad advice like that!

and yes, I will unfortunately be going away with the girls on holiday at about 9 weeks - I'm just going to have to tell them I think and swear them to secrecy. Eek!

Nanny01 · 09/05/2011 16:13

Hi
Just had a very intresting day have to admit I told 2 of my close friends just wanted to share and be able to talk about it. Dh was not pleased.

Spagbolagain · 09/05/2011 18:36

ghosteditor ha I'm not usually that organised, don't panic, it's only that I have a few medical things that mean I have to be referred to consultant clinic sooner rather than later. Yes I'm 6 weeks. Think most people go between 6 and 8 weeks for a first appt??

Hi Nanny01, hope he's not too cross....can totally understand wanting to share it with someone. I am currently trying not to blab to my sister (just yet) :)

ghosteditor · 09/05/2011 19:18

Ah I see spag, I'll relax a bit then, I'm only four weeks so might call in a week or two to get an appointment.

Broodyandnew2this · 09/05/2011 20:06

Hey guys,
Very excited to see this thread - hope it?s ok to join, I think I?m due on the 1st of January, but as this is my first pregnancy, I?m v.v. nervous (oh and v. v. bloated!)

Only DH and a v. close friend knows at the moment, and it still seems very unreal, not least as I don't 'feel' pregnant, just bloated and the occasional nausea. I guess I shouldn?t complain, but my boobs feel the same and I don't feel tired at all, is this all normal?!?

fishandlilacs · 09/05/2011 20:19

fuckity fuckstix-i have just found out today that I lose my job on 28th July.

WTF am i supposed to do now- we were already skint.

I just dont need this worry right now.

I am very crampy today and i't begining to worry me a bit-it's probably all the stress though.

LaBobkin · 09/05/2011 20:20

Hi all, can I join? First pregnancy, think my due date is 8th Jan. Feeling bloated and exhausted but only nauseous now and then... but mostly still can't believe it! Really thought there was no chance this month.

Browncoats · 09/05/2011 20:22

Broodyandnew2this congratulations and welcome! Yes it's pretty normal, that's how I was with my first pregnancy too with my DS. Count yourself lucky!!!

I told yet another friend yesterday (that's 3 that know now), and my family know too but I'm not superstitious. Smile

tigana · 09/05/2011 20:23

giraffe - oh I can very join the bloated club! Feel all puffy bellied and with sloshy feeling inside, plus occasional crampiness and all day nausea. I have also managed to catch a cold. I am totally congested and have sore throat, so feel a bit crappy on top of pg stuff. Blurgh.

And can I just say..how SLOW are these first few weeks!!! (I seem to remember the last 3 or 4 weeks are pretty draggy too...)
Reeeeaallly want to tell someone other than DH. I'm going to tell my boss in a week or so, but don't actually want her to be 2nd person I tell .

Might have to tell my friend and swear her to secrecy....;D

tigana · 09/05/2011 20:26

oh, fishandlilacs that is shitty for you! So sorry! Get online/on phone to someone in the know about what your SMP/MA will be. It's about your NI contribs more than your employer (although employers do sometimes give a bit more money for a bit longer than SMP/MA)

shonnomanom · 09/05/2011 21:04

oh fish thats totally crap about your job!! Do you think you would be able to get another job quickly? Was just thinking that you would be able to get a good few months work in before going on Mat Leave.

Hello/welcome/congrats/good luck to all newbies!

My healthboard book MW appointments from approx 7weeks. Iv got my hour long appointment on Monday next week. I booked it last week when I was roughly 4-5 weeks but as the doctor couldnt be sure when I concieved (I had 2 periods in March) they were happy to say that I was approx 7 weeks come appointment.

tigana · 09/05/2011 21:37

Re when to get MW appt - after starting thread on MN to get helpful kick up arse to stop planning and just do it, I just phoned my gp practice and said to the receptionist "I'm about 4 weeks pregnant and don't know what I need to do about MW/GP appointments?". She tried to book me in for 18th May, but I have work stuff that day, so I got 31 May ( I'll be 7-8 weeks) The MW is on holiday between 18 and 30 May.

Broodyandnew2this · 10/05/2011 07:56

eurgh... I got into work early to try and be proactive, but can do very little other than sip lemon and ginger tea, and try not to think of vomit-inducing thoughts....
Does anyone have any other subtle ideas for keeping the nausea at bay at work? I think if I nibbled on ginger biscuits all day long my (very) inquisitive work colleagues would work it out, and I?m not ready to share the news yet!

Mama5isalive · 10/05/2011 08:45

oh wow welcome newbies and congrats for the 2 lines!!!!!
my Dh was telling me to make an mw appt and so i did 18th May - seems a bit off but i dont mind! have a very hectic and busy job so i hope i can cope with it all, very demanding - my last position i sat down alot and still finished 2 months early, so i cant see me going that far doing the same thing maybe they will put me on light duties in my last few months! fingers crossed!
feeling really tired and drained - but with the 5 kids dont have much time to lay down busy getting them fed, bed - and out of the way!
oh well better start getting myself ready for work - bye all !Smile

Browncoats · 10/05/2011 09:04

fishandlilacs so sorry to hear about your job! Would you be able to take on temp work in the mean time as you'd still be eligible for mat pay then?

I'm feeling very very sick again today. My DS is being a star for the last few days, he's just been coming up and giving me kisses and cuddles when I'm feeling very rough!

Mum2be79 · 10/05/2011 09:10

Went to the doctors yesterday and I don't need an early scan. Period like cramping is the embryo embedding and placenta beginning to form. I have no bleeding, pain in shoulder and with an EP, I would have very sharp, stabbing pains that I could pin point with a finger.

I feel sooooo much better. It is my first pregnancy so I don't know what to expect.

Today I woke with period cramps (didn't have them yesterday as much) no nausea but sore boobs which had 'disappeared' - the soreness that is not the boobs! - yesterday. So symptoms very on and off.

The news about Kelly Brook startled me. Here I am trying to get to 12 weeks and then hopefully relax somewhat and then I'm beginning to wonder that I can't until that baby is out and screaming!!!

ghosteditor · 10/05/2011 09:25

mum2be79 that's fab, really pleased for you! It's all a bit mysterious the first time around, isn't it? That's why MN is so fab for me, as none of my close friends have kids yet and I wouldn't want to mention it yet anyway. One of my team-mates made the announcement at 5 weeks and now has a beautiful baby girl to show for it, so I guess it's not the worst thing in the world to tell people early.

MercyMe · 10/05/2011 10:11

Can I join too? Congratulations to everyone on their bfps!! I got my bfp yesterday, very excited! This is my 2nd, already have a dd who will be 3 in October. I am due on 12th January, but already feel bloated - don't know if I'm trying to just overlook the weight I've put on! I also have had heartburn last couple of days - not sure if I'm imagining all this!
