Very surprised, had only SWI once and I thought we had missed the window of opportunity. It seems not, BFP yesterday, royal wedding treat. EDD about 2nd Jan I think.

#2 for me, keeping fingers tightly crossed as had a bumpy ride before conceiving DS. Very excited and slightly terrified. :)

shonnomanon I went to the docs at 5 weeks and explained my symptoms. She said, "well, it sounds like it's worth the risks" which didn't fill me with confidence. :(

I tried to stay off for a week or two and my symptoms were horrendous. I never get the heartburn sensation but I get asthma like symptoms. I always thought I had food allergies but couldn't identify the food. I cough violently and feel like I can't breathe for hours.

I went back to a different doctor and she said they never usually put people on omeprazole during pregnancy. Having then checked her book, it said no known risks during pregnancy so she changed her mind and wanted me to stay on it.

I think the issue is it's a newish drug and you can't do studies on pregnant women. I tried to find medical reports on the results of pregnant women who were exposed and a study of 1200 women showed no difference to the control group. However, that would only show effects for cases where there's an effect of 1% or greater (any less couldn't be differentiated from chance).

However, I've been put on a lower dose and the latest info sheet in with the medicine said it's fine for pregnancy. Even the Internet is quite low on scare stories so I'm hoping it's ok.

Oh yes - the thing that finally helped me get it diagnosed was a globus - a feeling of a permanent lump in my throat and like I couldn't swallow properly. Once I was on omeprazole, all the other symptoms I'd battled with for ages went away. Everything came back in that hellish two weeks off it.

Can I join in too?! EDD 9th Jan, first pregnancy and not been too bad so far. Just got really itchy boobs and a never ending appetite! I'm going to end up huge if I carry on eating like I am but I can't seem to stop myself. Good luck to everyone else due in Jan, bring on our bumps!

moobee suppose if it makes you soo ill not being on it your best to take it. Are they going to keep a close eye on you both?
For the reason that the drugs havent been out long enough is why I was told not to take them. Pantoprazole is even newer than Omeprazole. I was however told that if/when the heartburn flares up again anf gaviscon is not helping there is another drug that I can take, its been out for rather a long time and is classed as 'safe in pregngnacy' as a result.
Touch wood, the heartburn hasnt been so bad that Iv needed Gaviscon. We were in the process of slowly weaning of the meds altogether prepregnancy.
Just need to wait and see how much this pregnancy messes things up again..

Well my sister called this morning to tell me that she too is also due in January! She's 7weeks today so is exactly 4 weeks behind me.

My parents are getting 3 new grandkids in the space of 5 months!!

My sister has worked out that the year our toddlers turn 21y is also the year that the 3 current bumps turn 18y. Oh thats going to be a messy & exspensive year

shonnomanon I don't think I'll get any extra attention. I get the impression that they don't think it's a problem but prefer not to prescribe something that isn't necessary just in case. I still worried about it as you can see by my mega post...

PS that's great that you're expecting at the same time as your sister! How lovely to have cousins the same age.

ssh but my sister is expecting her first 3 weeks behind me too!!! noone knows yet and i'm bursting with happiness about it. sadly she lives in another country.....

Bleurg. My nausea is more or less all day now- like a sort of motion sickness. Doesn't seem fair that now I've given up my wine habit I'm getting worse 'hangovers'. A can of coke seems to help- though not very healthy! And I have a bag of dried lavender (god, I'm such a granny) that I like to have a sniff of. Actually, its one of the only things I like the smell of at the moment! I had a terrible fridge moment this morning...

Bra update!! Just bought 2 little lycra bra tops in Peacocks of all places. Very comfy indeed. But for around the house only- not v supportive- think I'd have someone's eye out if I attempted to run for the bus in one..

Is anyone else still doing a fair bit of exercise? I'm playing badminton and netball and still cycling to work at nearly 9 weeks. Not sure when I'm supposed to be giving any of these things up- how much is ok?! Last pg when I had a mmc, I had stopped doing everything straight away. Am deliberately being less mental this time since I figured you can be super careful and things can still go wrong.

Im sharing yet another experience with my best friend - i know people think we yet again planned it! ermmmm no way! her =3, me =6

This thread is really growing just like our lil beans! my belly has def grown i so cant fit into clothes i wore 2 weeks ago!!!!!!!!!!
today at church there was 4 of us all in a row with our pregnant bellies!
Im 11 weeks and 3 days so my baby is the size of a large plum!!!!!! roll on next week paris trip and my scan!!!!!!! whooooooooooppppeeeeeeee

sleepywombat it sounds like your ds was pretty much the same as mine except we didn't get the stopping breathing. That must have been awful on top of the normal reflux symptoms. Taking milk was the same for ds so much that he gave up taking it and cried and cried when he saw the bottle. Was truely heartbreaking. It was about 8 months ds started to settle too but the milk intake took much longer as the damage was done there. He came off meds at one thanks goodness. I know of children that took much much longer to come off meds. I will pray that you are spared this time too.

Moobee we got a diagnosis in the end when we took him to hospital. The docs and HV were convinced it was colic even though I told them different. He stopped taking milk in the end as it was burning as it went down so off to the hospital we went. We had and overnight stay in a childrens ward with paeds and they diagnosed him within 2 hours. He was approx 8 weeks old. They gave us gaviscon to try. We ended going back when he was on the top dose and it was still doing nothing and we got prescribed ranitidine for him too. Those together with colief that I was using were magical once they started to work.

Hi Folks, can I jump onboard- I'm a newbie?! I'm 10 weeks PG, EDD 5th Jan. This is my second so thankfully none of the creaking and groaning of stretching tissue that I experienced first time round, so far- it's all pre-stretched this time!

Am feeling really sick but am able to eat mostly reasonably normally thank goodness! Am finding Trebors Extra Strong Mints an absolute Godsend!
The exhaustion is really kicking in this time- but then I guess I'm also doing a lot of running about for my 3 yr old! Plus I'm 43!! OMG!!
Haven't yet had my first scan, another fortnight to go for that- am fretting like mad about chromosome abnormalities etc. Trying to think positively but its too easy to venture across to the dark side!!!
I ALSO have a pregnant sister who's 11 weeks ahead of me, which means that her little one should be just about finishing with our Moses basket by the time my babe is born- good arrangment!

Very envious of you living in Oz Sleepywombat always looks gorgeous on TV and always sunny, its rained all day here. I'm a secondary school teacher too so little different but am loving it.

Feel like I look 5 months already belly has always been on the big side as been a size 18 since ds1 was born. Now I feel I cant suck it in like I used to and letting it all hand out looks mahoosive. Am still going to weight watchers as only joined 3 weeks ago, gutted I didnt lose the weight before getting concieving but need to monitor my weight now as very high BMI and put on 3 st last time and cant be having that this time round.

I have mild heartburn today not sure what it is maybe too many strawberries? Had craving for strawberried and cream all week and bought 2 punnets absolutely gorge.

Nausea comes and goes for short periods but a quick nibble on something usually helps might have to get some minty sweets. Have gone off tea today usually have quite a lot of tea but today I've left cups and ended up tipping last one away in favour of strawberries.

Great to hear some of you have sisters who are pg too, that sounds lovely. My sister has a DS 8mo old now so am looking to her for some nice hand me downs, pram, changing station, rocking chair, carseat.

Got my first doc appointment tomorrow so hopefully get to see a mw soon or a scan date.

I am getting impatient waiting for that 12 week date too, cant come round soon enough now

There is a baby boom here. My sis-in-law is due Aug31, her sister is due Dec 1st, Im due Jan 1st and my sister is due Jan28th. And thats not including friends.
My sisters PFB is 7 months younger than my Dd and Dp's sisters PFB is 10months younger than my Dd. A lot of kids around the same age, just a shame we're not all in the same area.

I am having a very pregnant day today. Actually caught myself rubing my belly 20/40 style when in the supermarket, almost, almost got caught by dp's cousins. Few!

Thanks shonnomanom I too have been feeling my belly most the day, I'd better snap out of it for work tomorrow though lol.

Anybody keep having goose bumps all over? Feel like my whole body sensitive at the moment.

shonnomanon I had to do a double take to check you weren't my sister-we're due in the same week-almost to the day, we live in different towns so my poor mum is not going to know where to put herself.

Giraffe well done on getting a dress for the wedding. I have a wedding in 3 weeks and cant find anything that doesnt make me look like im wearing a tent or 5 months pregnant. Do you mind me asking what you got?

The ruching is in the right place to hide my tummy, it's amazing the bump is completely invisible :-)

Thats a beautiful dress giraffe. I couldnt pull off that colouring, im too pale. Im heading out next weekend again. Hopefully will find something soon...

Just had my BA appt. Can't believe all the paperwork for such a little bean! She put my EDD as 30/1, I'll update the list.

They have classified me as shared care and high risk due to my general agedness but other than that all was OK.

MW said they don't care anymore how much weight the mother puts on during pregnancy (subject to an OK BMI) but she thought that WW wouldn't allow me enough carbs so best to stop and just eat sensibly (that's a slippery slope for me but I'll just have to do my best!)
