Anybody else out there?????
Very surprised, had only SWI once and I thought we had missed the window of opportunity. It seems not, BFP yesterday, royal wedding treat. EDD about 2nd Jan I think.

#2 for me, keeping fingers tightly crossed as had a bumpy ride before conceiving DS. Very excited and slightly terrified. :)

Hi everyone- so much to catch up with!
Welcome to all the newbies!

Nausea/retching/gagging/overt vomiting been awful this last 10 days but fairly suddenly improved over the last 24hrs. Is this something others have had? Or has it been more of a gradual tail-off?As a first timer everything tends to induce a little paranoia!
I'm also not getting much bigger in the boob dept (boo hoo) but have got a distinct fledgling bump coming- yay!
Feels all a bit odd as a few people at work know (including male boss, who's just being adorable and supportive) but no parents yet as don't want to disappoint them if scan and stuff don't go well. Still another 2weeks till then though.
sho and brown- I'm Glasgow too so will maybe see you at SGH if you're booking there at all?

Thanks for your responses to my cheese question ghosteditor and d0gFace! Glad to hear I'm not the only one puzzling over this (I'm also mostly veggie, since DH is one, although I've been eating some meat since I found out I was pregnant - thought I'd better, for the iron) I suppose I should just ask an expert - will post anything I find out!

Incidentally, during my web-searching this morning I found lots of references to unpasturised feta in Greece, so ghosteditor it looks like you might have to ask before you order? I wouldn't want to pass it up entirely though - proper Greek feta is so delicious.

Finally, ghosteditor, you're completely right about exercise as a cure for nausea. Usually go for a brisk 30-minute walk at lunchtime, and I've noticed that it really helps - I feel much better afterwards.

ghosteditor · 08/06/2011 12:10

supdadupa ooh all of the things you described sound so so tasty! My lunch time at work has been getting earlier and earlier. I think tomato soup might be on the cards today. I've actually been thinking about buying cupasoup or similar to have as a snack, since I'm pretty much off tea and coffee. I never normally have it though.

I've just had a few dried figs and an apple which went down quite well...

On the pilates front - that's interesting. I've been doing it for a couple of years and my joining form said something about not doing pilates or doing adaptations between eight and 14 weeks, so I duly told my instructor last week. She seemed shocked and then said that the form only meant for people who were starting pilates for the first time between 8 and 14 weeks. So I was a bit gutted that I'd told her, as we haven't told anyone else. (by the way, she's thoroughly lovely, but I have the impression that she was unable to have children, so if that's the case then it must be tough for her). Anyway, this week she said that she's gone back to her notes from a pregnancy and pilates class she took and we'll run through some pointers next week before class. She's very good so I think I'm in safe hands. The key thing is not to do anything that will exacerbate the separation of the Diastasis Recti, I think.

However, I played a match the other week and was running around lots. I heard somewhere that you should avoid elevating your heart rate too much in case you get too hot. I ran a lot less than normal but looked down to see my heart rate monitor showing my HR in the high 170s Blush . That's a bit naughty really; I think HR increases generally in pg so it was unexpectedly high for the amount of effort I was putting in. Again, I've decided it's ok because my body is completely used to going up to HRs around 190-200 and I recover quickly. I do feel a bit like I'm chancing things but I think it's important (for me I mean) not to get too precious about the whole thing. Women have worked hard for millenia while pg - it's only in recent decades that we have the luxury of worrying about all this!

ghosteditor · 08/06/2011 12:16

capybara yes - I'm seeing the MW on Friday so will ask her too and let you know if she says anything conclusive. I suspected as much about Greek feta - it's the proper way to make cheese after all! - so I think it's most likely I'll have to abstain, unless we can buy stuff in the supermarket that is marked as pasteurised. Boo.

In any case, there's no way I'm going to get through a week in a villa with my three closest friends without telling them - especially since they are aware of my love of cheese. Do you think it's best just to tell them as soon as we get there? I want to wait until we're out of the UK to avoid any texting/facebooking though I sure if I explain that we haven't even told our parents they'll behave themselves. They're going to be pretty shocked though Grin

Browncoats · 08/06/2011 12:41

I'm leaving this thread guys. I'm just back from my scan appointment and there wasn't a heartbeat. The baby was measuring just under 10 weeks so has only just died. I'm also going to have to wait until the 20th June, almost 2 weeks, to go in to have the op as they don't do them at the Southern General Hospital any more thanks to all the cuts.

I can't quite believe this has happened to me again, I put the last one down to extreme bad luck so now I'm really worried that there's something wrong with me.

I genuinely hope everyone else goes on to have an uneventful pregnancy and wish you all the best - you're all really lovely!

supadupapupascupa · 08/06/2011 12:44

Sorry browncoats :(

Weevie · 08/06/2011 15:14

Hey everyone, about the cheese. I think i have a book lying around (family have over loaded me with them) which says what cheese is and isnt safe. Ill see if i can find it and let you know, but im pretty sure it says feta, mozzarella, mascarpone and soft cheese like phili is ok. But ill double check.

MMMM could so eat some cheese now =)

SlightlyScrambled · 08/06/2011 15:19

So sorry for your loss Browncoats.

I might be in the same boat. Had a scan this morning and she couldn't find anything. Not even the sac. So she did a pregnancy test and the line was really faint.
When she scanned at 7 weeks she thought it was measuring 5-6 weeks. I convinced myself all was fine but today she started talking about what to expect when miscarrying. Not a good sign. I should be 9 weeks now.

I'm in again next Tues for another scan and I guess I'll be referred to the hospital if she doesn't see anything.

I'm not getting my hopes up anymore as two scans have been bad now so I'm just fooling myself. I've still got morning sickness which is a bummer.

Weevie · 08/06/2011 15:28

Sorry I didnt read the rest of the thread before posting about cheese...

Browncoats im so sorry.

scrambled sorry for your news fx it all changes and its just hiding somewhere!

ghosteditor · 08/06/2011 15:44

weevie we all do it, not to worry.

scrambled gosh that must be very worrying, I'm really sorry to hear that. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that it's just a problem with scans, but I know you must be preparing yourself for the worst. I hope there's someone who can help look after you.

d0gFace · 08/06/2011 16:19

Sorry about your news scrambled.

Nanny01 · 08/06/2011 16:44

Browncoats & scrambled so sorry to hear bad news, sending you both hugs

Linda40 · 08/06/2011 19:06

browncoats Im so so sorry, what awful news, I know how you feel as Ive lost two in the past twelve months and i think the fact that they are making you wait two weeks is disgraceful ((hugs))

scrambled Im so sorry to hear your news ((hugs)). Why havent they given you a blood test to check your hormone levels? They should have done one today and repeated it on Friday. If your still pregnant your levels would have doubled within 48 hrs! Such an easy test and you dont have to wait a bloody week!!!

Love to you both, Im thinking about you xx

blueeyedmonster · 08/06/2011 19:37

Oh I am so sorry browncoats I too can't believe they are going to make you wait that long.

scrambled I'm so sorry to hear that.

Thinking of you both.

Mum2be79 · 08/06/2011 20:44

:( browncoats
:( scrambled

I'm becoming concerned again as it's really sinking in how common these are! Especially when you still have all the symptoms and there is the possibility of no heartbeat.
I'm awaiting my scan appointment coming through.

shonnomanom · 08/06/2011 21:08

oh scrambled im so sorry, hope you have a lot of support around you, you must be terribly worried
((((Hugs to all having a sad day and to those with worries))))
