Anybody else out there?????
Very surprised, had only SWI once and I thought we had missed the window of opportunity. It seems not, BFP yesterday, royal wedding treat. EDD about 2nd Jan I think.

#2 for me, keeping fingers tightly crossed as had a bumpy ride before conceiving DS. Very excited and slightly terrified. :)

Hi GiraffeAHolic - I should have said, I'm not in the UK (used to be, that's how I know about Mumsnet :) so I'm not doing things according to the NHS schedule. When are the initial blood tests you mention done?

Bellakins · 26/05/2011 13:40

Congratulations Katy!

I'm 7 weeks today and have my booking in appointment next Thursday. The whole symptoms coming and going is driving me crazy and have been desperately googling what it all means.

My nausea has completely disappeared and realised my aversion to food, strong smells stopped last Sunday. Boobs are still tender and do still feel tired, but not overwhelmingly so. No bleeding or spotting but have had occasional mild cramps, though I know this can be the uterus stretching.

I really really hope everything is ok but I'm such a worrier! Think I'm just going to sit tight till my appointment next week and hope for the best. Sorry for offloading!

xkatyx · 26/05/2011 13:52

Please dont worry about symptoms coming and going my last baby i had this .. everything stopped for like a week then after that i would have sore boobs then stop then felt sick then stopped. i read and was told it is normal.

shonnomanom · 26/05/2011 14:13

giraffe I get headaches alot and the chemist recommended 4head. Its a rub on, like a lipbalm idea. You just rub it over your forehead and within a few minutes, what headache? the paperwork with it says its fine during pregnancy. Its about £6 and is tiny but it lasts for ages.

Bellakins do not google, it will drive you mad!

Bloody hiccups all afternoon is driving me bonkers!!

tummytickler · 26/05/2011 14:43

Hello all - welcome newbies, great to have you on board!

giraffe i have been getting a lot of headaches too, especially when I am tired. I really hope it is not a symptom of twins - dh would have a fit - this is baby no 5! Grin Although twins would be great!

bellakins my symptoms came and went in last pg, this time I have had no sickness yet but knackered. I think it is very normal and expected that this will happen.

Half term start today - if this pg is like my others morning sickness will kick in big time at 6 weeks - to coincide nicely with half term. Bugger. Kids may get a bit bored I think!
Got painting activities organised for after school today, so hopefully they will be too engrossed in that to be as horrid as they were yesterday! I am sure they can spot my weakness at the moment!

Nanny01 · 26/05/2011 15:25

Congratulations xkatyx, what did your dh say to that one. Double present time for you.

As for me I am packing things up for my kids as dh and the 2 dd's are of to cub amp and ds1 will be going on his yr 6 PGL school trip this weekend to. That just me and ds 2 at home to please ourselves and we are going to do things he likes for a change.

Hope you lady's have a good weekend

Still amazed I still like my picked monstermunch crisps though they do have a funny taste than before pregnancy.

d0gFace · 26/05/2011 15:26

Hi and Congrats to the newbies.

Im 8 weeks and still havent heard anything about a booking appointment, anyone else still waiting?

I wish my nausea would ease abit, although when it does finally go il probably miss it. Confused

Nanny01 · 26/05/2011 15:29

I just booked myself in at the doctors didn't wait to be asked. d0gFace have you tried Rich tea biscuits I eat these for my breakfast anything dry but light is really good in my books.

d0gFace · 26/05/2011 15:32

I saw my doctor, 2 weeks ago and she said she'd sent a letter. Thought I would of heard something by now, but its my first time and im a little impatient.

I havent, il buy some with my shopping and give them ago. :)

Wormshuffler · 26/05/2011 15:50

I would chase the dOgface, you should be booking in between 8 and 10 weeks. Give them another ring. It could be different there, but here you call a midwife number direct to book in.

supadupapupascupa · 26/05/2011 16:29

my doc just arranged the midwife booking in for me. they called with appointment bang on 8+1

does anyone know if i need to take a sample for booking in? also when do we hear the heartbeat?

Wormshuffler · 26/05/2011 16:33

Heartbeat can be as late as 20 weeks to hear, I heard mine at 16 week appointment. My letter doesn't say I need to take a sample, later on in PG they were getting me to do it whilst there to check for protein.

greenlady78 · 26/05/2011 16:38

Thanks for the lovely welcoming blueeyedmonster, deeses, browncoats and ghosteditor! I've never participate on a forum before, so I apologise in advance for any 'forum faux pas' I went to my GP today and was told nothing will happen until week 12, that is I will only have bloods tests, etc in 7 weeks...anyone else had the same feedback from their GP? xkaty congrats on the twins!

d0gFace · 26/05/2011 17:12

Il give them a ring on monday. :)

Deesus · 26/05/2011 17:36

I'm 7+5. Saw the midwife on monday just gone and today I got a letter from the hospital saying my 12 week scan is on 27th June, am so excited! Cue time moving at glacial pace......

supadupapupascupa · 26/05/2011 17:40

so, if you don't take a sample for the booking in, basically you don't actually get your pregnancy confirmed until the 12 week scan! Shock

GiraffeAHolic · 26/05/2011 17:46

I took a sample for the booking in appointment but as far as I know they didn't use it to confirm pregnancy, just to check for sugar/protein/etc.

shonnamanom yep I remembered about 4head sticks at about 3 o clock this morning. Dh has orders to find me one today - god help him if he forgets :)

ShimmeryPixie · 26/05/2011 18:24

Boobs are still tender and do still feel tired, but not overwhelmingly so. I'm so glad that it's not just me. I was knackered last week and the week before, but now feel reasonably OK. However, the whole 'being pregnant' thing is now officially messing with my head - I veer between thinking it's great and then thinking that I'm a fraud and not really pregnant and it's all just a terrible mistake (despite the line, lack of a period, sore boobs, etc).

To try and make it more 'real' I've booked a private scan for Sunday (at which point I'll be 8 +1). :)

PS. OH my God - twins! Congrats.

Mummaroo · 26/05/2011 20:30

katy congratulations, twins how awesomely lovely?!! Will think lots of hidden sac thoughts for you :)

I'd love twins, but we already have DS and live in a tiny 2 bed house, so to have 3 would be pretty tough, but still awesome!! :o

So reasurring to hear about others symptoms from everyone, sometimes I feel like I have loads and other times none at all, just a big bloated tummy [which could be the excessive amount of chocolate I ate over Easter] still trying not to worry about the awful pains I'm getting as they're not getting worse, but will be happier after scan on Tuesday, think I will be 6+1

ShimmeryPixie I know exactly what you mean regarding head messingness, I feel like that all the time, so much going on in there, no wonder I'm getting so confuddled all the time!!

Anyway else completely knackered and then go to have a nap/or to sleep and cannot sleep at all?? Seriously annoying!!

Mum2be79 · 26/05/2011 20:42

Yep! Knackered but can't sleep. Weird thing is, I wake at 2am EVERY morning as I'm turning over. My boobs feel like a sack of potatoes weighing me down! Today was a 'pregnant' day. I had horrendous backache, cramps, tiredness and nausea. I suffer from what I can only think is sciatica (started with it a few weeks before I feel pregnant) and it's now an everyday occurrence.

My booking in appointment is 7th June. I'll be 9 weeks + 4 days. I think I'll hear about the scan date when I attend the appointment. Weirdly, it's at my local children's centre.

shonnomanom · 26/05/2011 21:49

Welcome and congrats to all newbies!

Here we can book our mw appointment form 7+ weeks. When I made the appointment I was given a leaflet about the bloodtests that would be taken and a sample bottle to take with me to check for protein etc.
After I met with my mw I was given a supply of these bottles and told to bring a sample everytime I was to see the mw.

Iv had looong epsiodes of hiccups 4 times today. Not amused, although dd was!

Hope your all well
Sho x

milkyway07 · 26/05/2011 22:21

Hi all, hope you don't mind me popping my head in - I've been lurking and reading everyone's symptoms and I am getting a little reassurance. I was feeling terribly nauseous 2 days ago and then it kind of went away, but today I have been retching throughout the day again. I've realised I hate the smell of our kitchen and scrubbed it vigourously with Flash today - but it still stunk :(. No vomiting yet.

Where I am we have to book-in with the GP and then book the first MW appointment at 10 weeks. Due to my history I am leaving this as late as possible. I had my first scan on Monday - so far everything looks fine - we saw the heartbeat. The next scan is hopefully at 9 weeks, praying I make this one.

Congratulations to all the newbies and to katy for the twins!

Browncoats · 27/05/2011 08:37

Morning all, hope everyone's keeping well!

Had a pregnant moment yesterday. I went to the shops in the morning and bought in a whole load of stuff. Got home and realised I'd forgotten a few things (of course). So I made lunch etc. and then went back to the shop in the afternoon to pick up maybe 2 things. Got back to the house, got DS out of the car and couldn't find my bag and the shopping bag! Searched everywhere for it and I was really panicking. Stuck DS back in the car and zoomed back to the shops where I frantically searched the shop looking for my bags and still couldn't find them anywhere. I then went to the security guard and told him I'd lost my bag and shopping bag, at this point I was almost in tears coz I'd lifted some money from the machine and we're pretty skint right now so I just knew that'd be gone. The security guard helped me search again for AGES!!

Finally gave up, drove home in tears only to find the bags sitting in the backseat of the car??!! How did I miss them sitting there? They were tucked down between the seat and the front seat on the floor but there were pretty obvious. Grin

tummytickler · 27/05/2011 09:38

browncoats Grin
That is really funny! What a relief to find your bags though. We are pretty tight for cash at the moment, and I would be gutted to loose my bag.

Do you find yourself quite tearful generally? I find myself on the edge of tears quite often at the moment. Bearing in mind nothing makes me cry usually, I feel like a bit of a mess! Dh thinks I am quite bonkers!
I am 5+5 today and still no sickness, but sooooo tired. Don't know how I am going to cope with half term!

Hope everyone is feeling fabby this morning!

shonnomanom · 27/05/2011 09:42

Oh Browncoats you must have been freaking out! So glad it wasnt lost permanently. Pregnancy brain can be a nightmare. I learnt last time round that I need to right everything down, problem is I usualy lose the list Blush

Welcome and congrats Milkyway, hope everything works out for you this time.

Got a tiny wee shift at work today - 1 hour - gotta love holiday weekends!
