Hi - im not a regular poster but still here too at 40 + 5.
See midwife tomorrow for check, induction date and membrane sweep, if I fancy?
Quiet w/e at Ikea! as still busy with nursery etc but now getting very difficult to plan anything as keep hoping baby will arrive. Sleep is rubbish and I roam the house in the early hours. Its great reading all about the new babies - it is exciting although 4th degree rear doesnt sound good. I had an episiotomy the last time and have been told I will likely tear down the scar this time - joy. At least the scar goes sideways rather than to bottom though.
Well must go and wake DS who is on extended afternoon snooze.

JenJam · 14/11/2005 14:23

hi chacha, sorry didn't mean to scare you with my story. (sheepish emoticon) I was pooing my pants before labour, and i can honestly say it was nowhere near as horrific or painful as i feared it might be. it was all manageable and never 'agony' as some people say. I lost my ability to cope a bit when i got over tired.

so please don't fret. your birth will be manageable. it will fine. right. i really must get out of my pyjamas now. and finn wants feeding again

catdch up againj soon Jen

tessasmum · 14/11/2005 14:39

Hello everyone.

Huge congratulations to GoldenOldie and the Golden boys, what cracking weights, bet you are glad they didn't try to get you to term?

Hope the waiting isn't getting the rest of you too down.

ChaCha - denial sounds good to me but as Jen said you do cope regardless and nothing is as bad as the waiting and imaging.

Two good bits of advice I got last time that I used then and this time was:

  1. Every contraction brings you closer to meeting your baby
  2. Only take 3-4 breaths of gas and air as you feel contraction coming on. That way it will tide you over the contraction but you will still be on this planet in between And one I will add from this time - Body Shop Tea Tree body wash really helps with anything sore 'down below'

Jen - hope tear turns out to sound worse than it is. I had 2nd degree tear both times, stitched the first time, left alone this time. Both healed quickly and I think the piles that I managed to push out with Tessa hurt much more - sorry if TMI for those still waiting but having a beautiful baby to gaze at really takes the ouch out of most of the post-birth aches and pains.

karmamother · 14/11/2005 15:06

Hi all,

Jenjam, loved reading your birth story but I really feel for you with your poor perineum. You must be quite swollen by now. Did the hospital give you Lactulose to help with the, ahem, toilet bits?? Finn is a great name, I can just imagine him as a cute toddler with dungarees on!!

Chacha, sorry to hear you're having a bad time right now. Do the pains feel like you're being stretched in your groins? I had something like this happen this morning. I was starting to think I was in early labour but a nice back rub from DP helped & the pain settled. It does make you feel a bit emotional, doesn't it? Don't be put off by jenjam's story. When it's happening to you, you'll be so distracted by what's going on. You'll just be focused on seeing your baby.

KristinaM, hope bubs stays head down for you. I think I'll be asking my MW about sweeps when I see her on Thursday. Don't feel like BDing either!!

CADS, poor you! Maybe the backache is a sign??

Sarah, same to you too, niggly pains might be things getting ready.

BAM, about the BDing. I have spd too & lying down doesn't always help. When I turn over in bed I can feel/hear my pelvic bones "clunk". Consequently, we've had to adapt our BDing accordingly. We lie in the spoons position so my legs are together the whole time. Sorry if TMI! Lately, however, I've been seeing to DP's "needs" in other ways. He's quite happy with that & it takes the pressure off me. A little bit of attention to "junior" goes a long way, these days!! Blimey, what are men like?

Well, still doing the odd bit of painting as my body allows. TBH, keeping active is what's recommended as I'm sure I'd be lying on the sofa all day if I could. Does anyone else feel mega emotional right now? If I'm unhappy about DP & want to discuss it with him, I just feel like blubbing my eyes out instead. Can't even manage a coherent sentence either. It makes Dp think it's something major when, in fact, its really quite trivial. Bloody hormones. We really are at the mercy of our bodies, aren't we?

Rant over. Wonder how all the new mums are? I must admit I'm eager to see our daughter after the long wait. I'm reading the BW & I'm up to the bit on sleep which is telling me what I did wrong last time. I just hope I can put these things into practice. It's good to hear how Nova & beartime are managing with it.

Well, back to the painting. I'll catch up with you all later.

Hello again, just back from Mum's feeling calm and mellow , isn't it all so exciting ? these feelings and heaviness is getting lower every hour, going to sort some tea out and have a nice bubbly bath.
Hope you're all ok and happy, we're doing a great job girls x

karmamother · 14/11/2005 18:51

Its quiet on here this afternoon? Are you all having babies & I'm not?

Been a funny day, had back to back BH's. Every time I get up & walk around my tummy goes really hard. They're definately BH's but I've not had them so frequently before. I even checked over my hospital bags.....

Baby can't come yet, the new carpets don't come for another few days, yikes!

CADS · 14/11/2005 20:09

Hi Karma

I'm still here, definitely no baby arriving here. Sounds like there is more chance of you having yours than me. Really fed up. Have been really irritable for the last few days and poor DH is having to put up with some serious mood swings. As for bding, absolutely no way, far to uncomfortable and no drive. Your dp is a very lucky man, there is no way I would be looking after dh needs the way am feeling. BTW, how do you know if you're having back to back BH?

Mamman - Welcome back. Glad I'm not the only one that is over due. Sorry, for being soo selfish. Hope we don't have too much longer to wait.

Take care

karmamother · 14/11/2005 21:18

CADS, LOL at your post. I DO keep telling DP that he's a lucky man. Having said that, the actual BDing I could do without but I might have to reconsider if I go overdue.

The BH's just keep coming. My tummy feels quite tense but goes even harder when I get up & walk around. I can see the outline of baby when it happens, well, I can see where her knees are. Actually, I'm having another as I type. I'm taking RLT as I had a 45hr labour last time, which was 9 yrs ago. I know 2nd time round it's likely to be quicker but after such a long gap I think my uterus might behave like a first-timer!! Since taking the RLT my BH's have been stronger so I'm optimistic that it'll have a positive effect.

novadandypowder · 15/11/2005 09:47

thought i'd better write something - gotta keep the nov girls at the top!

just been scanning the due in july thread, it's all so new, can't believe we're all nearly at the end/ having babies

all together now 'we've come a long long way together, through the hard times and the good, i got to celebrate you baby, i oughta praise you like i should...'

Hi Karma, CADS, Sharon, BAM, mamman - anyone else left out there...?????? Maybe all that prostagladin applied to the cervix has had an effect at last and you are all in labour??????

I had a proper nesting day yesyerday, full of energy and made lots of soup etc to put in the freezer. Feeling all virtuous now .

i have to report that i dont have a single sign of imminent labour. Or even of late pregnancy!! In fact if it werent for the bump I wouldn't think I was pregnant. I dont think my body knows what its doing..... suspect i will end up getting induced again [sigh]. This time I cant have the gel as I had such a bad reaction to it last time so i think the only option is ARM. Worried I will end up in theatre...

Oh dear, feeling thsi fed up at 39 weeks is bad enough...how are you girls who are now overdue?????

KristinaM · 15/11/2005 09:55

LOL Nova!!!! hows NAtalie doing?

BAm - hows wee Alex? still being clingy???

Busyalexsmummy · 15/11/2005 10:21

Hiya, not too bad, still quite clingy, not as bad as the other week though-but he was teething in the end, so sort of explains it!
We have bought him one of those massive monster truck remote control cars from woolies for when the baby arrives-good job I took it out the box to charge it up, as it seems we picked up a duff one that wont work!

I keep reminding him that the baby is coming to see him soon and that he/shes bought him a really nice toy! hehe! hes seems happy with that!

4 DTG!!

ChaCha · 15/11/2005 10:24

Morning all,

Yay to bumping up the November thread, we are fast becoming extinct!!!

Hi Nova - How are you and Natalie?

Sarah, Hopefully baby will arrive on a weekend and Cads - hopefully baby will just arrive soon!!

Karma - BH's seem stronger these days too but I still haven't started on the RLT. Must get some!

Kristina - Well done on the soup etc.. I've been having a few days like that but managed to spend time with friends yesterday afternoon who made me lunch and just relaxed for a while. That was really nice, I enjoyed it.

Jenjam - I feel the same way you did before going in am relieved to know it's not that bad
Really trying not to think about it too much. Eeeeek!

morning all,
No more babis yet??? Im sure they will all be here soon, the waiting is horrible though
We are ok here although Joshua likes to feed every hour or so day and night!!!! (knackered emoticon) My milk has arrived today though so i look like i have to watermelons down my nighty joshua is very happy.I feel really emotional today as dh has to go to newcastle for two days on a course my mum is driving down to look after us, which is great but not the same as having dh here.ah well lookafter yourselves get lots of rest
twinkle & joshua (4 daysold)

KristinaM · 15/11/2005 11:10

Hi twinkle - forgot totell you how well you look in your post op photos - positively radiant!!! Wish i was having a section now to make me look 10 years younger

bummer having Dh away for a few days - not very sympathetic of his employer!!! We dont have any useful gransprenst but agree, its not teh same as Dh. Although presumably the older kids will enjoy the novelty of granny? How have they been with Joshua?

How are the boobs? Have you got cabbage leaves in the freezer. Remember that smell well....... Dnt forget the cream for your nips if the wee monster is feeding every hour

Ouch I'm now remembering that horribel stage of BF when its such a hassle and sore and you just keep telling youresfl that it will be better in a few weeks. Semms like yonks ago, even tho i only stopped feeding DS1 3 montsh ago......honestly i am worrying that I cant remember how to do it

sarahsausage · 15/11/2005 11:16

Morning ladies,

Just crawled out of bed, although i still can't keep my eyes open. Didnt have a late night, i'm just completely cream crackered. May try to get someone to come look afer dd so i can go back to bed.

Am not just aching when i walk or stand anymore, its all the time now, bump and between legs. Feeling basically crap and really hope that i dont get to 41+2 like last time, cant cope with 3 more weeks of this.

Hope eveyone else isnt getting too fed up. And lets have some more babies today .

Sarah 38 Weeks today!!!!!!

KristinaM · 15/11/2005 11:20

sarah - sorry you re feeling so bad. good idea to get someone to look after Dd and get back to bed. It s a lovely day here - if it is nice where you live maybe they coudl take her out a walk or to the park?

sarahsausage · 15/11/2005 11:25

Thanks Kristinam, will get dps mum to come pick her up if she can, although she doesnt finish work until 1. Hopefully she won't be busy.

Any one else feeling this rubbish?

I dont remember feeling this way when pregnant with dd, maybe its being pregnant looking after a toddler taking its toll on me finally!

ChaCha · 15/11/2005 11:37

Hi Sarah - Sorry you're not feeling so great. Hopefully some catch up sleep will help.

Feeling quite the same as you but it's on and off and seems to get worse in the evenings for some reason. This is why I also hope I don't go over as everyday is an achievement in coping as it is..surely not another 2 or 3 weeks eh?

11 days to go... (hopefully)

sarahsausage · 15/11/2005 11:47

Thanks chacha. Dont worry, am sure baby will be here before (too) much longer!

Right, going to make some lunch.

Will check in later.

Diege · 15/11/2005 12:23

Congrats Golden, Enthusia, Twinkl;e, Jenjam!! , and so sorry everyone left is feeling so uncomfortable; it's amazing how it will all feel like a distant memory in a few weeks (hopefully less!) time. Liberty is gorgeous, and am trying to get some photos posted. Am moving over to post-natal thread, but will 'check in' every day to see how you're all doing!
Good luck!
Diege

SharonTW · 15/11/2005 13:00

Hi everyone whos's left, after my nesting again yesterday feel really fed up today, had pains last night that scared me on and off thought that was it but then I'm still here today.
Just going to get my Mum to come for an hour.
Must be one of those days for us all, Sarah hope you got back to bed x x
Sharon 3DTG

KristinaM · 15/11/2005 13:05

thanks Diege! As you can tell we re feeling very sorry for ourselves

..and envious of you with your lovely babies

sarah - i think you are right about caring for toddler and being pregnant. i had a much bigger age gap last time so DD was at nursery in the monrings so i coudl rest more. Also I coudl bribe her to sit on the sofa and watch Cbeebies for 10 mins while i had a shower. But Ds is only 18 months and you cant let him out your sight - while I am in the shower he puts things down the loo. He even tries to do it when I am ON the loo!!!!!!!!

sarahsausage · 15/11/2005 13:47

Thanks for concern sharon, everyone on here just soooo nice! Its good to have a moan sometimes, especially to people going through the same kind of thing at the same time.

Just packed dd off with dps mum so am now off to bed for a couple of hours, housework will have to wait until i can be bothered! DPs mum reckons its my body preparing for labour, making sure im rested. Doubt it though, think this baby will last out until december, although i'm hoping not!

Kristina - Lol at ds putting things down the loo, though i bet it isnt funny when he does!

Right, bed time.
