Grr just lost my message! Rah!

Leilandri, I'm so sorry to hear about your DH's possible redundancy. We went through a tough time recently when my DH lost his job and we had to move out of London for 18 months while we sorted things out. It came round though, these things always do, it just takes time (though I know the waiting isn't much fun)!! Fingers crossed for you!

Re. the MATb1 form, I made an appointment with my MW this morning for next week, to try to get a form from her for my DH. I'll let you know how I get on.

I'm self employed too Klou and not looking forward to filling out the Maternity Allowance forms at 24 weeks (and dreading filling out my first tax return later this year even more - eek!!) Confused Wine

alibaba76 · 31/03/2011 13:07

Had my scan today and everything is fine - man do they check everything in detail!! Got to empty my bladder halfway through thank god, don't think I could have lasted the whole 40 mins!

I am joining team Blue!

Was quite emotional afterwards, I feel I can stop worrying and start enjoying this now.

Good luck to the rest of you with scans xxxx

KLou111 · 31/03/2011 13:25

Congrats on the blue bundle ali!! Glad everything went great :) Yes, they do check everything, how the hell they know what it all is is beyond me lol!

Rugby, found the self employed form on here
Have just filled it out and printed it ready to send in at 26 weeks (apparently can't send til 14 weeks before)

daisysair · 31/03/2011 13:54

Another healthy baby announcement here! :D :D :D :D :D

LifeOfKate · 31/03/2011 14:51

Yay, good news about the healthy scans :o

sisterT · 31/03/2011 19:02

Baby fine on scan here too! I however have placenta previa so have 'won' another scan at 32weeks to check that the placenta has moved up. Looks like I'll be spending the next 12weeks standing on my head....................................!

RugbyWidow7 · 31/03/2011 19:04

Thanks Klou, I've saved it so will print off and fill in soon. Really useful thanks!!!

RugbyWidow7 · 31/03/2011 19:06

Amazing news on all these great scans - well done all for growing such healthy little'uns ! Biscuit

littlemisslozza · 31/03/2011 21:24

Another great scan here, all fine and wonderful to see our little baby. alibaba congratulations on your baby boy. I also felt really emotional afterwards and still do. I think it's partly because it is the last time we'll do this (3 wil be enough!), and also the relief that all is well. DS1 was very excited to see the scan picture and has started patting my tummy, very sweet.

sisterT yay to the extra scan! I believe placenta previa is quite common at this stage but by the time your uterus has grown loads more the placenta is likely to be higher up and only a very small number of people still have the problem. If you do still have it by then I can reassure you that a planned caesarean can be a really lovely birth, I had one with DS2.

neverlookback · 31/03/2011 21:31

wow this thread is moving so fast! our scan tomorrow, not going to find out but i really feel like its a girl, ive already got 1 of each so it doesnt matter, but my bump small compared to last time (DS) but ive put a stone on all round my hips and back and i just really feel its a girl!!!
Had a pretty lonely rubbish week, dp working like crazy, he did a 24 hours shift yesterday/today and is working again tonight, in 7 days we have actually only gone to bed together once, and we fell out!! (my fault hormones/emotions) going out to a thai tomorrow with another couple and praying he doesnt end up working all weekend!

MrsStevo · 01/04/2011 09:19

Yay!! Hurrah for all the good scan news!!! We are all very clever mummies growing proper little people!

I think I've been able to feel a little bit of fluttery movement for the last couple of days - really not sure though as it doesn't feel that major. Just like little bubbles - almost exactly like the feeling of trapped wind Blush so still not sure if it might be just that! It always seems to be in the same place though so I'm guessing, if it is a baby, that it is only one of them and the other is too busy napping to both to move!

I am POOPED though!! I thoroughly recommend NOT working full time, being in a show AND trying to grow twins all at once. I've taken next week off work though and I will mostly be sleeping Grin

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 01/04/2011 09:35

Good luck today neverlookback :)

MorningsMadness · 01/04/2011 09:41

Lovely healthy scan news from many - and really sorry to those with job worries, keep chins up all. Freecycle can be great source too if you search for one local to you.

From the scan chat do I take it you need full bladder for the 20 wk scan??? Have mine next Tue (can't wait) but wasn't told anything like that and can't remember from DD!

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 01/04/2011 09:50

I don't think you need it so much with the 20 week, more that by that point the bladder tends to be permanently full anyway Grin

Anu3 · 01/04/2011 11:09

I had my scan finally and all is well with the baby!! They do check everything dont they!! Lasted for about 45 mins but it was amazing to see little bubba there on the screen! We have a shy baby in there as it kept covering the face with its hands all the time!!! :) Finally though did a lovely pose for us before waving out (well thats what it looked like anyways!!)

DH didnt want to find out what we were having but caved in at the last minute when the doc asked us if we wanted to know!!!!!!!!!!!! so ladies its TEAM BLUE for me :)) Though i had guessed it before we were even told cause the little man kept flashing us his erm..!!! Grin

The only thing that came up for me is that I have a low lying placenta which apparently is not a cause for concern just yeat. ive been told it should move up as the womb grows but this means I will have to be monitored and have another scan at 32 weeks. Hope all is well by then - a little nervous about it. Have any of you had this before or have it this time around?

littlemissw · 01/04/2011 11:41

Thanks for the link to the Mat Allowance form KLou I'm self employed too & am dreading filling it out as I've heard its a bit of a prickly pear & very confusing.

KLou111 · 01/04/2011 12:13

Yey for all the lovely scans!!!

Looking at booking our 3d/4d one now, can't wait til the end of May, which is when we'll prob have it.

I got 'told off' for not having a full bladder at the 20 weeks one morning, so I would go with a full bladder, as you can always have a wee when you're there! I only drank 1/2 litre instead of a litre so things weren't as clear as they perhaps should have been. I was sent off to run up and down the stairs to get things moving too!

KLou111 · 01/04/2011 12:16

littlemissw, the form was actually surprisingly easy for a change! (As long as you've been self employed for the last 66 weeks as otherwise they start going into your employment before that)
Feel a bit Hmm claiming as I have never claimed a penny in my life! And I've always took the stance that if you have planned to have a baby, then you should pay for it, not the state. But it's like someone said to me, if they're handing it out, and you don't take it, you're losing out a lot of money, so take it!

Firawla · 01/04/2011 12:28

I thought you didn't have to bother with the full bladder thing for scans these days? they told me in my hosp that its not necessary?

good to hear of all the scans going well

littlemissw · 01/04/2011 12:45

KLou, I just had a quick look through the form & it doesn't appear to be too scary. The notes are a bit confusing as to what is relevant & what not. Like you say, fairly simple if you've been self-employed for the last 66 weeks. I can imagine it being a nightmare if you haven't been & it seems to be hardly worth applying for if you have a SE Exception Certificate.

I'll have to have a look into the 10 days of work you are allowed as I have a holiday letting business & can't exactly shut down & not take any bookings for next summer. Confused

I know what you mean about feeling a bit weird claiming anything - I always think there is someone that needs it more than I do. That said, you tend to be penalised all the time simply because you are self-employed, so why not make the most of it if you are entitled to it I guess.

MrsStevo · 01/04/2011 12:50

Meant to ask -does anyone have any super-tips for combating heartburn / acid reflux? I seem to have developed this in the last couple of days and antacids don't seem to touch the sides.

Is there anything else I can try? And are there any foods / drinks that I should be avoiding?!

Thanks in advance!

Firawla · 01/04/2011 12:53

I guess you've already tried milk but that is what I drink if I have heartburn

aStarWithHerOwnWays · 01/04/2011 13:13

A friend swears by white Magnums for heartburn. As for avoiding, mine seems to be pretty random. Last time around even water would sometimes set it off Hmm so I'd just eat what you want and be prepared for possible consequences.

sisterT · 01/04/2011 13:50

Anu3 I have been told the same - mine is covering the escape hatch tho' which could cause a problem! Most of the time the placenta does move upwards, so try not to worry too much and think of the extra scan as a bonus.

MrsStevo I have so much more sympathy with anyone who suffers from heartburn after my last pregnancy. It has started again already and even caused me grief in the pool last night! Sad. All I can recommend is staying as upright as possible and glugging as much Gaviscon as you can manage without barfing need to make the symptoms go away. To DH's horror, I tend to swig it straight out of the bottle!!!!

KTisPG · 01/04/2011 14:01

I don't get heartburn so much as chronic indigestion. I don't like Gaviscon so live on Rennies. Bubba is really kicking now, enough to keep me awake at night! I'm also suffering from a really painful pelvis. Seemed to start a couple of days ago and is very low down at the front. Hope it passes soon - I don't want 20 weeks of it!
