Jasnem · 31/10/2005 20:56

evening,

I guess everone's been busy today.

3k - I'm glad you've decided to talk to the midwife about how you've been feeling. You can get into a cycle of feeling bad because you "should" be happy and grateful and that's not how you feel. The longer you leave it the worse it gets, and even if you do feel better in a couple of days it's good to be reassured that it's normal, and not uncommon.

I feel pretty rubbish today, but I'm laying the blame for that at the feet of totally unsupportive DP. How can a man spend 6 hours playing on the X box and then criticise me for having done no housework? I went Christmas shopping instead, but now I'm so angry I can't relaxat all. I'm going to have a cup of Horlicks and see if he even notices that I'm less than happybefore I give up and go to bed.

Frizbe · 31/10/2005 20:59

Oh crikey, 3k sorry, also meant to add on re your post, think the other thread is a really good idea, lots of people get depressed pre and post natally and its often not related, its those bloomin hormones of ours screaming around doing weird things to us....

Jasnem · 31/10/2005 21:00

Sorry about the ranting

I like the pics, particularly the bumps. I took a couple this evening at a kids party and will try and put one on tomorrow

Thanks for the link Jaysfirst - have joined so can be nosey

Jasnem · 31/10/2005 22:38

Put my pic on.

Got an apology and cup of peppermint tea from DP, feeling much better, so off to bed.

Bewitched · 31/10/2005 23:21

Love everyone's pics. Still missing a fair few of you though - come on ladies - show your faces!

Cuffyj1 - you after my job doing the stats?

Just watched the ONE Life documentary about the 3 sisters who collectively had a baby. Very moving - had me blubbing a couple of times. Anyone else see it?

OP posts:
flamesparrow · 01/11/2005 07:37

Yup - Cried . Even though it had always been her sister's child, the thought of the heartache as it was driven away to live somewhere else was too much for me.

Yesterday was the day from hell for me. My mood was terrible (still is), I'm aching sooooo much - not helped by having to go to the shops twice to get car tax and taking the wrong paperwork both times . It then started raining on the way back from the second time, DD ran away from me in the carpark, I smacked her (I never do that ), so she kicked and hit me as I tried to put her in the car (which I think is probably fairly justified... always gone with the theory of if you smack children, why shouldn't they smack you), then I cried lots.

The dummy fairies came last night... I decided that there was no point in just giving her her present - she needed to give the fairies her dummies first, so that she understood that it was a swap.... Soooo, got out all the dummies, and found her a box to put them in - she clutched them to her chest, and cried sooooooo much, she then wet herself because she was crying, needed a wee, and didn't want to part with the dummies. I felt like the cruelest mummy ever.

I'd taken the box away by the time DH brought her down from the bathroom, and she didn't mention it... she then came in to us delighted this morning - she's found the box in her room (with fairy dust surrounding it ), and there had been a Mickey Mouse dvd in it instead !!!! Very happy baby now

Chloe55 · 01/11/2005 08:40

Ahhh what a lovely idea Flame re the fairies, I guess no pain no gain sometimes

I was rediculously uncomfortable for all of last night, hardly slept and felt like I have eaten the biggest meal ever (which I haven't) - don't know if I am going to cope well with this pregnancy lark for the next 3 months - arrrgghhh!!

Anyway, time to scan the internet for a second hand car that is bigger than my current (Ford KA) as my tax ran out yesterday and I'm not keeping it considering I'd struggle to fit a dolkls pram in let alone baby and baby stuff!

Jasnem · 01/11/2005 09:20

I Love the dummy faries, Flame. You did well there.

I only woke twice last night and feel miles better this morning - I was up every hour the night before - Ihope it's a sign of things to come, and not a one-off. I can cope with most things if I get some sleep.

Off to GP for 24 week check. It's the first time I'll've seen himand I suspect it will be a bit of a waste of time. As long as I get tot hear baby I will be OK, though

JuA · 01/11/2005 09:25

I hope everyone feels better today - I think it must be the hormones I have real up and down days - stressing about how I am going to cope with being pregnant and even bigger than I am now. Worrying that the babies will come early and I won't be ready. I am struggling to lift dd and she doesn't understand. but saying that she has had an ear infection and been very out of sorts - she is loads better now and is busy "cooking" and dancing to her disney cd.
3K - hope you get some support from your midwife - it is supposed to be what they are there for.
I have recorded ONE life - I think I will watch it when dd has her nap - I will only get grief off dh if I watch it when he is around and it makes me cry! Must go and take dd to toddlers!

TheOriginalTicTac · 01/11/2005 09:53

I don't feel very good today...all out of sorts again. I feel stuffed (though not eaten) I feel like I want to chuck up too! Did someone mention another 3 months?!?!

Jua - I guess with twins on the way and the likley early arrival you need to get your act together and be ready for Christmas?!?! Get your lovely DH to dedicate some time to all the prep

Chloe55 · 01/11/2005 10:13

Yeah I feel sick too TicTac, more because I feel sooo full as appose to nauseous. I am also having the feeling of being shipped from pillar to post at the moment with reference to my midwife(s). Because I am going to a hospital 'out of area' (which is in fact my closest hospital by far!) I have not been given any direction as to when/who I should be seeing at any appointments. Nobody has ever told me when I should be having my next check up and I get told one story from one midwife and another from another! I am now being told that I won't be going back to hospital until I go into labour but my community midwife is telling me I will need to speak to them about the labour process there etc because she works for another hospital! What a bloody farce, I tell you, if I didn't have a half decent head on my shoulders I would probably have not seen the chuffin' midwife since my early scan at 6 weeks!!! Arrrgghh

Tabs · 01/11/2005 10:58

Flame - the dummy fairies are simply inspiring. Hope I can remember that when Chip gets to a suitable age (haven't actually decided whether to use them at all or not - just can't make up my mind!)

JuA - you will definitely blub at ONE Life, so have tissues at the ready!

Chloe - do you not think that buying the new car before the tax ran out would have been a better idea! Surely you'll have to tax it now anyway, unless you can get a garage to part ex it? How's the hunting going - what sort of things are you looking at?

Jasnem - hope all goes well at your check. Have to say that I haven't learnt anything from my appointments with the community midwife. I think using forums like this and doing NCT classes kind of teaches you all that you need to know (barring any specific complications), so that the midwife becomes almost redundant!

3k · 01/11/2005 11:19

Morning All,

I'm feeling a little better today - still a bit down but a bit more positive which is good. Had a long chat with DH last night about worrying I wont cope etc and felt a lot better afterwards. I dont think it helps that I'm feeling so tired all the time.

I really liked the dummy fairy story, definately have to remember that in the future.

Are we in the third trimester yet? I'll be 27 weeks on Thursday so I'm assuming I will be then. OMG - 13 weeks to go!! Or 11 if he comes early!!!

Chloe55 · 01/11/2005 11:38

Hmm well that was the idea Tabs, unfortunately I was kinda pinning my hopes on a car Amanda1 was selling but due to the circumstances that isn't happening, then a friend was going to sell me hers but she has had it MOT'd this week and it has various problems amounting to more than we can or want to afford to pay for........so if anyone wants to sell me a VW 5-door for less than £1500 here I am!

Chloe55 · 01/11/2005 11:39

I think the 3rd trimester starts at 27 weeks, or is it 26? Not sure. Glad you are feeling better 3k.

Jasnem · 01/11/2005 11:48

As I suspected, Gp is fairly useless, but he did what I told him to, and I'm fairly confident that all is well anyway. All my complaints are due to moodiness or common effects of being pregnant so I don't suppose it matters really at the moment.

I hope everyone is trying to get some rest - sleep deprivation definitely makes life in general more difficult to cope with. Big hugs to those who are feeling particularly rough. I hope it passes soon.

I too get that stuffed full feeing, and find that sitting in a very upright position helps a bit.

cuffyj1 · 01/11/2005 11:55

I'm officially in my 3rd trimester today! 27 wks down 13 to go. Has anyone got any sort of maternity packs from work. I don't know anything about taking maternity leave.

I sympathise with everyone who had a crap nights sleep last night cos i did too. Got backache so every turn was agony. Hope its not a sign of things to come, i've slept fine so far. Must be a 3rd trimester thing.

JuA · 01/11/2005 12:30

Cuffy - you need to give work your MATB1 which your midwife should have given you. Speak to your HR dept they should be able to tell you what the policy for your work is.

Tabs · 01/11/2005 12:47

Grrr - bloody parents! My mother still hasn't made any contact with me since she stormed off the other week. My dad's just been down to pick up the wardrobe that we're giving them, and he's announced that they are no longer coming for Christmas, and won't be staying at ours just before they go on holiday in Feb - will book into a hotel at Heathrow instead.
So as they were going to see newborn Chip at the same time, she's obviously not interested in her only grandchild at all. Well stuff her then. Don't think I'll even bother mentioning it when he arrives, and there's no way I'm telling her what sex it is if we find out at the 4D scan. She can be the last to find out.

YeahBut · 01/11/2005 12:50

Hi everyone, Hope you are all feeling OK atm. I'm mostly fine but very tired. Have started to find it very difficult to sleep at night, even though I'm absolutely exhausted. Hope it resolves itself but have a sneaky suspicion that it might be the pattern from now on. I've also started getting heartburn again. Oh, the joys!!!!

The girls have been on half-term for the last 10 days and I am desperate for school to start again tomorrow! Both dds had a grotty cold last week and dh was out of the country for most of it. They just screeched at each other all day yesterday and I had a bit of a wibble thinking that soon I'll have three dds getting on each other's nerves during the holidays!

thell · 01/11/2005 13:18

Yoinks! Wonder if 3 girls or 3 boys would be more troublesome? I suppose puberty would be a 'hairy' time (excuse the pun) whichever gender you had!

IKWYM about disturbed sleep- I've been really lucky so far, but have just started struggling to get back to sleep after my 5/6am wee. It's not a trauma or anything, but I suspect it's only the beginning.

I tried to go to a yoga class this morning that I found by searching the net. Should have phoned the teacher first, as I arrived to find the community centre locked and abandoned

Hug for Tabs. Not really anything I can say, except that it sounds like pretty childish behaviour from two grown adults (your parents, not you!). Think you should name Chip after your DH's parents just to make a point! Maybe even make them Godparents,...
