Frizbe · 28/11/2005 16:54

FS, sorry to hear your feeling down again try and rest up tonight once dd's in bed, have a nice bath and some hot chocky, pamper yourself a bit hon, hopefully you'll wake up tomorrow feeling happier - have you checked with the pharmacist if you can take selenium supplements, help with improving moods?

Womba1, wow a date only 8 weeks until that stiff drink then (ok give it a few days extra to get out the hospital!!)

3k, your boss is a right A* too, so sorry you and chloe are having to put up with this rubbish

Wonder if dh will ever get around to finishing clearing out dd's new room, so we can sort the nursery? he's been off work all day today, playing world of warcraft grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

flamesparrow · 28/11/2005 17:02

Why do they do that???? You get all excited about the list of jobs that can be done while they are off work, and they end up in bloody battlefields or whatever the hell it is, or trying to get to level x before Cerb does (ok, yours might not be competing against Cerb....).

Its funny though... if DH does have a day off, you can guarantee that Cerb will conveniently be "ill" over the next couple of days and catch up again!!!

I will say one thing for it... DH has gone from being very much a loner (and quite lonely ) to making friends on WoW that are local, and having an active social life.

Did you spot the "my husband is addicted to computer games" thread??? It was all fairly sane, and then some woman came on and said her husband ran off with some woman he met online, and implied that if they are playing games, it is clearly due to a miserable marriage and they will leave you

Not that any of that is pregnancy related... just like having a WoW widow

Jasnem · 28/11/2005 17:44

I was there, too. She killed that thread off, didn't she.

flamesparrow · 28/11/2005 17:46

I thought that!!! I was wanting to reply and tell her that if her husband was that miserable, he would have cheated with or without the computer... but thought better of it

Jasnem · 28/11/2005 17:54

I've found that the best way to get those jobs done is to start them myself. It shames him into taking over. he's a builder, so it's not lack of ability, but nothing ever gets done in our house if I wait for him to do it.

Having read that other thread, I am so glad he doesn't know about the online games.

TheOriginalTicTac · 28/11/2005 19:05

I need to start a thread...my husband is an Ebay addict!
He does earn some decent pennies through it so I don't suppose I should complain too much

Flame - I wish I had a magic wand to help, How do you normally do "after" the pregnancy? }hugs{

hotmama1 · 28/11/2005 19:47

Oh Womba - a date - how exciting! I'll hopefully meet you on the Jan post-natal thread - wishful thinking as dd1 was late.

Frizbe - no snow just rainy sleet that is f**king cold!

FS - Hopefully you are feeling more upbeat - I enjoy your words of wisdom

So who has done 'everything' then? I still haven't done my bag - which I was going to do at the weekend or got the stuff out of the attic to wash etc - too knackered - haven't got the nesting instinct then.

Jasnem · 28/11/2005 20:45

I haven't done anything at all, and to be honest, I'm not going to get round to it 'til after Christmas. How much preperation can one baby need??

hotmama1 · 28/11/2005 20:50

You're brave - waiting until after Christmas. I want to get dd1 moved into another bedroom and put all the newborn stuff in the nursery - intended to do this by the end of November - therefore failed - now intend to do by Christmas.

My thinking last time was that dd wouldn't come until everything was ready - so she didn't and was 9 days late. Therefore, if I get everything done early - dd2 should be earlier - see the logic? Well, at least being due on 29th Jan/1st Feb means dd2 can't be a March baby?

Jasnem · 28/11/2005 21:42

Well I should have a couple more weeks than you to prepare (due 18th), but alsothere is the small factor of no money to buy stuff! I got rid of almost everything after the first two, and am relying on lots of borrowed stuff this time. I thought that if I got rid of it all, it would be easier to stick with only2, but I caved in to my own selfishness.

I saw a post on another thread that you'll have a 16 month gap - mine is just under 16 months. You are right about trying to focus on toddler. Baby won't know any different, but big one will. My only advice would be to buy a sling if you haven't already. And keep telling yourself that it gets easier - it really does.

Oh, and just accept that DD1 will choose the bf moment to eat the cat food!

hotmama1 · 28/11/2005 21:55

Was just trying to wean myself off for the evening - and someone posted - means I won't do the dishwaher.

Was going to ask about sling recommendations as I want to bf dd2 longer than dd1 - and have been advised that having a sling will make it easier (and dd2 will be safe whilst I stop dd1 with the catfood)

Any words of wisdom re dealing with a 16 month age gap will be gratefully received.

Tabs · 28/11/2005 22:14

Evening ladies. Haven't had time to post at all today . Got stuck in conference call all morning, having had almost no sleep last night (just couldn't settle until 2:30 gone and then DH was up at 4 for his flight), and ended up having to stop work at 4:30 for a nap!

Womba - very exciting having a fixed date in mind! Will you and hotmama (if on time!) use Jan post natal thread, or stay with us on Feb? I'd like to stay with all you ladies even if Pippa does decide to come early.

I don't feel at all organised any more. If anything I feel like I've gone backwards! Just can't think of organising anything except the mess that my house is still in from having new floor and sound system stuff in living room. Hopefully getting floor oiling finished this week and painting at least started, so that we can move the furniture back in over the weekend.

Flame - big hugs to you - hope your mood swings up again just as quickly as it swung down.

Chloe and 3K - grrr at your bosses!! Your weekend sounds great though Chloe. We had a good one too. Long lunches with friends both days and very little else!

womba1 · 29/11/2005 07:52

Morning all!
Ok, so last night the odd dreams kicked in! Peanut invited some mates over to my uterus to have a rave and they were all doped up to their eyeballs on wacky baccy and spliff...
And then, after waking and recovering from that one... my next dream involved me having to see a consultant for an internal exam.. and as he removed his entire arm... ... there was Peanut, dangling from his finger with her full set of gnashers clamped on his fingernail!! If only childbirth was that simple huh??
My mind has gone into overdrive i think, after getting my news yesterday. I feel soooooo nervous now.... i knew i was having another c-section but having the date just makes it seem more real and so close... but yes, it is nice knowing when this little Peanut is going to arrive. I keep thinking about having to leave my little ds with my mum and dad while i'm in hospital, and it makes me cry! He'll be thoroughly spoiled and will have a wonderful time.. and i'll see him everyday... but, i'm going to miss him so so much... damn these hormones!!
Tabs... i want to say here with you guys on this thread, if you'll still have me!?!?!

Right,i must get a wriggle on so, hope you all have a nice day and catch up with you real soon,
bye x

Jasnem · 29/11/2005 08:30

morning,

Those dreams sound weird, Womba!
I hope everyone stays with us on the postnatal thread, whenever their babies are born. I should be safe enough unless mine is very late. I really hope he's not though. I've decided a week early would be good so that I've got half term to recover before having to do the school runs with three of them. I just hope baby is listening to me!

Going out to make another attempt at Christmas shopping today. Have a lovely day girls.

TheOriginalTicTac · 29/11/2005 08:50

Morning Ladies...how cold?!?!?!?

I am due the 5th Feb so unless TicTac gets a shimmy on and comes out early I don't think I will have any trouble with different months. Will be stopping with you guys on the post natal thread anyway!!

DH boss announced yesterday that his wife is now 12 weeks pregnant...I don't even know her and I felt all protective and "aww" about it!

I have written a list of stuff to go into a hospital bag, it was a compromise because I didn't want to get it actually ready until after Christmas (keeping mysefl jobs to do once I have finished work) but DH has gone on about me getting it ready sooner "just in case" so I have written a list of what I think I want in there so he can get it ready should I be whisked off for any reason

While we have got most of our bits (breast pump, steriliser etc) I am saving the learning until after Christmas.

flamesparrow · 29/11/2005 09:00

TicTac - I'm fine after the baby comes (Or I was last time anyway)... it seems to be the shift in hormones again makes it all go away as quickly as it comes (like heartburn and cravings suddenly disappear too).

I've been having weird dreams, but luckily none have been baby related recently.

I'm much brighter today, exhausted, but brighter. We went swimming yesterday (before I turned into crying mess), and I wore myself out doing that... then DD decided that bedtime was optional, and spent until 8.50pm (she went up at 7.30) yelling downstairs that she needed various things, and playing loudly. She wasn't too much trouble though, so I wasn't too bothered... I WAS bothered at 4.50am when she decided to come in crying, and then wanted us to be very awake with her . I have no idea what set her off in the first place, but she wasn't keen on sleeping again once she came in!!!!

flamesparrow · 29/11/2005 09:01

Oh, with our "we've had the baby" thread... can we not just call it "previously due in Feb" or something for the first one, so that we all stay together, and then we can make up random names not based on the month??

Chloe55 · 29/11/2005 09:16

Morning girls,

Womba your dreams sound very bizarre, isn't it weird how our minds can think up such stories whilst we sleep!

Well as far as preparation goes I have got the nursery sorted and have bought a few bits and bats but haven't done the hospital bag yet. I think I will probably do that after xmas. I know we mentioned it earlier in the thread but did we come to the conclusion as to which was the best breast pump to buy - I have no idea having never used one before.

FS hope you are feeling better today.

JuA · 29/11/2005 09:20

Flame - hope it was just a one off with your dd - there is nothing worse than being woken up at 5am - dd went through a phase of it when she had a bad cold and we used to bring her into our bed - but we never got anymore sleep!!
We are very lucky at the moment because she hasn't worked out yet that she could climb out of her bed and stays there shouting for us! She is still in her sleeping bag which helps although she is getting a duvet for her birthday - I am not sure I am going to use it just yet!!

Tic Tac - my hospital bag has a few things in it! I think I need to make a list. My sister is coming to stay for a few days in a couple of weeks and she keeps telling menot to get stuff as she has got a pile of stuff for me - so I am trying not to buy too much.

flamesparrow · 29/11/2005 09:27

Breast pumps... I think it depended on what kind you wanted (electric or hand)... I have a feeling medella (or a make that sounds like that in my head ) won out for electric, and avent isis for hand.

teuch · 29/11/2005 10:24

hullo all...not posted for a few days so took some time to catch-up!

I am not at all organised - I have a couple of pieces of clothing and a breast pump! Pram is at mum's (she was the talk of her street, having eloped in August the neighbours now think it was some kind of shotgun wedding!!) and I have the moses basket on pre-order...

I have a question abot hospital bags...how big??!! I don't want to be the one who trails in with her wheely suitcase while everyone else has neat little overnight bags...having said that, I saw a woman on the telly packing a suitcase with pillows and everything!!

One last thing - started ante-natal classes yesterday and it made me really emotional. I think I have gone into shock that there will actually be a baby...

flamesparrow · 29/11/2005 10:30

You're doin better than me Teuch... I have the breast pump... and that's it!!! Oooh, no, I lie... I have one vest too, and a pair of socks .

I took a little bag for labour, and quite a big holdall for after... it still wasn't enuogh though, and DH had to bring in piles - I looked like I'd been in for months when it came time to leave, what with all the teddies etc for the baby that people brought in

TheOriginalTicTac · 29/11/2005 10:55

PMSL Teuch....that is the exact issue I have over the bag! I seem to have loads on my list but it wont fit in a handy sized holdall so wanted to use a suitcase but didn't know if that would be OTT!?!?!

We had our breast feeding class at NCT last night...wasn't that great and I didn't learn too much...or anything...will let you know when I have made my mind up about the session :-)

JUA - I know your not for going to the NCT this time around but did you know there are coffee evenings in Chorley too? You would be more then welcome if you fancied going to meet a couple of people...I have been to a couple and can't make the next one but then I think there is another in a couple of weeks....let me know if you want to go, I can pass the details on.

Tabs · 29/11/2005 11:33

Yay - actually got time to say good morning today, as there are network issues in the office which are stopping me from doing a lot of what I should otherwise be!

here is the bag that I plan on using as my hospital bag. Hopefully I'll fit everything into it, although I doubt it knowing me - I have a reputation for overpacking for everything! I want to take some pillows in too, but they might have to go separately.

kando · 29/11/2005 11:36

Hi all! Sorry, I've not been keeping up to date with this thread so hope everyone is well. I had a gynae appointment this morning, all seems to be well. Told me I'll be having another scan in 4 weeks, which is great! Routine in Holland apparently, so I'm looking forward to that. Baby moving around loads, although I don't feel very big, for being 31 weeks pg that is! Keep getting a sore back and SPD is getting a bit worse, but there's not much I can do about that really. The joys of pregnancy! Only 9 weeks to go. (Who's counting?!)
