Ixel - definately possible to gain a few inches overnight!!! Even if not proper growing, just a shifted baby could do it. I bought new bras a couple of weeks ago, and yesterday I was looking a tad squished . Bloody breasts didn't change size last time, this time they have decided to confuse me.

Not bought anything post-babywise yet... can't get my head round it. I really need to look into this whole boots club business - is it boots with the free change bag????

I decided to put DD in her room for 20 mins this afternoon so I could get some housework done in peace... probably not quite what the midwife meant, but it was a start!!! She whinged for a bit because she's not used to being in there alone other than bedtime, but she settled and played in the end... only problem was at the end - turns out if you are trying this out, it is best to take the toddler chair out of the room first, or it will be used to climb higher!!! Heard her screaming "Help" because the chair (unsurprisingly) was wobbling when she stood on it balanced on the bed to get the teddies off the cupboard!!!

Thinkin if I do it about the same time every day, she will get used to it, and I can use the time to do anything I want (including cup of tea without cries of "Me some, me some, me some!!!")

Do my tales of toddler life make anyone think "what the hell have I let myself in for?"???

YeahBut · 21/11/2005 17:50

It was more like a 5 star hotel than a hospital, I have to say! Actually, it was all kind of hard to take in after my horrendous experience with dd1 in the UK. In Holland, if the birth goes without complications and the baby is OK, you are usually discharged after about 4 hours. Every woman is entitled to a "kramzorg" nurse after that who comes in for a week after the baby is born and helps look after mum and bub during the day. She'll cook, clean, look after any other children and help with all the baby stuff too. It's a bit of a relief to think that I'll have that as we obviously don't have family nearby and both dh's and my mum are too unwell to travel over here.

Frizbe · 21/11/2005 18:20

Wow yeahbut great stuff, wish they'd send someone round here to help out!
FS your dd is reminding me of mine, caught climbing on the ottoman the other day, trying to get her feet onto the higher reaches of her shelving unit to get to the top.....have told dh, that the unit is not moving rooms with her, too unsafe....

Jasnem · 21/11/2005 18:49

I could do with someone to stay and help for a week too. I'm hoping for a few days from my mum, but haven't arranged anything yet. After DD2, my fil stayed- not ideal, but I couldn't lift DD1 after c/s and she still wasn't wallking. My mum had already done a week while I was in hosp.

I'm busy writing a list of things to ask the mw at my next visit. I haven't seen her since 16 weeks, so its a long list!

Thanks for the refreshers tip (Ialways liked them as a kid, and hadn't thought of them for years). Add that to my shopping list for tomorrow.

Jasnem · 21/11/2005 21:36

flame - it is boots with all the free stuff including bag, and you can sign up online - I did, and got my card this week, but not the other stuff yet.

TheOriginalTicTac · 21/11/2005 22:07

Flame - you have to sign up before you are 27 weeks to get the free bag and stuff. What you can do though is call the helpline and tell them you filled the form in while at the store about 10 weeks ago....they will soon sort you out

Chloe55 · 22/11/2005 08:41

Morning girls,

I'm in awe of the Ozzy service, was telling DH about it last night and he said 'see I told you we should move there' he's been desparate to live out there since he went travelling a few years ago but I daren't leave my family coz I'm a homebody!

I think my little one has moved, I am feeling movement at the base of my tummy now instead of from the sides so hopefully he is turning the right way and it's not feet I'm feeling down there.

Hope everyone is ok.

Jasnem · 22/11/2005 09:22

morning,
I'm on my way out to get a gaviscon prescription from dr this morning. Don't care how bad it tastes, it must be better than this heartburn.

hope you are all well

flamesparrow · 22/11/2005 09:25

Oooh, I still qualify as under 27 weeks now

Heartburn kicked in well and truly last night Woke up in the night with it, drank milk which eased it, but made my head thump today . It is still sooo much better than the pains though - since Spark has wriggled, I am having normal aches... which I think says that mine was muscular/nerves rather than SPD . The one main muscle that was hurting feels so bruised though - if Spark kicks it it is like having a bruise poked.

I'm listening to my body more, and resting when I need to, which has pretty much stopped all Braxton Hicks! All of that combined seems to have lifted my mood.

Quiet day today - we were meant to be swimming, but DH's car is playing up so he nicked mine

TheOriginalTicTac · 22/11/2005 09:43

Morning all,
Flame - nice to hear you are all a bit chippa! Since you can't go swimming today (too cold anyway) why don't you sort your Boots membership out and then you can look forward to an endless supply of pretty good freebies

I am being such a wimp today and not gone in to work! I was out at work for 12 hours yesterday and feel all achy because of it today so I am going to review some stuff from home in the nice warm!!!

Chloe - has the fog been really bad up your way? It has been terrible here and I was thinking about you as I was driving home last night because I could not see a thing...normally a bit worse Harrogate way

Chloe55 · 22/11/2005 09:52

The fog was awful yesterday morning on the way to work and my road is like a sheet of ice. I remember last time it snowed I literally slid all the way to the bottom of our street with the car under no control whatsoever, I have to hand signal the van at the bottom of the road to move (which he quickly did) before I slammed into the curb which luckily stopped me in my tracks - was very scary. Thing is once I'm on the main road it's normally fine. I don't care though, if it is like that again I will not be risking getting in my car no matter how much work are convinced I'm skiving. They are pissing me off at the moment, I wouldn't say I have had much time off at all but they are so quick to judge that there's nothing wrong with you instead of accepting that sometimes people get ill. Grrrrrr - sorry that's my gripe of the day!

TheOriginalTicTac · 22/11/2005 09:57

Chloe - -That is a terrible story...you stay off the road Mrs...don't want to be reading postings of you chucking yourself through hedges at 8 months pregnant because of the ice

As for work...I was going through some maternity guidelines the other day (no reason) and tiredness is listed as a genuine reason for a pregnant lady to take time out so don't be feeling guilty!!

Jasnem · 22/11/2005 10:05

Flame - lovely to hear you are feeling better

Chloe - definitely stay off the roads if it gets that bad. I bet no one thanks you for making the extra effort and going in to work when you are obviously tired/unwell. It really isn't worth it.

I've got nothing to do all week - all my shopping plans have fallen flat as DP lost my bank card on Friday (he was using it because he'd already lost his) so I can't get any money 'til I get a new one.

flamesparrow · 22/11/2005 10:10

Boots all doneded!!! I swear I'd already signed up for that in store... starting to think that their little machine doesn't actually update anything!!!!

Big bounce here - lots and lots of screaming, but DD did another potty poo (Its been a long hard battle, so you will all be being informed of every single poo for the next month )

3k · 22/11/2005 10:13

Morning Ladies,

I've not been on a lot this weekend as have been decorating the nursery, DH still building the wardrobes but the carpet is layed and the walls are all painted - it looks great.

I saw MW yesterday, blood pressure now come down a lot - so much the midwife thinks it is a but low!!! It was 158/92 the other week and is now 117/55. I have to see my doctor on Friday to see if he wants me to carry on with the tablets - they have obviously worked but maybe a bit too much.

Baby is fine otherwise, head down again which he seems to like. I have started with the braxton hicks this weekend although was unsure what they were until MW confirmed it yesterday - they just felt like twinges to me and a bit tight but I only get them for a matter of seconds and thought you got them longer. I picked up my MATB1 form so I can go on maternity leave if my boss starts again - he is currently creeping!!

Was suffering back ache last week in bed, a hot water bottle has sorted that out. 10 weeks to go girls, getting scary now!!!!

flamesparrow · 22/11/2005 10:24

Anyone know what the blood pressure numbers actually mean? Which bits are high and low etc? My first one at 13 weeks was 100/70, then 100/60 - both she said were normal. Last one was 130/80 which she said was quite high for me... but yours seem completely different again!!!

I'm intrigued now.

Helen38 · 22/11/2005 10:33

Hi, don't really understand the numbers but do know that I started at 100/60 which was told was a little low and it's how much it goes up by that seems to matter rather than the actual number, so with ds1 when it got to somethin/85 they got worried and 90 was the number at which they locked me in the hospital with ds2.

Helen38 · 22/11/2005 10:35

Thanks for posting a question that made me start talking flame, have been sat here feeling sorry for myself for no real reason and think am heading for a cry but don't know why some days being pg sucks

Chloe55 · 22/11/2005 10:40

Oh Helen, I know exactly how you are feeling - pg does suck sometimes! How is it physically possible to sometimes just feel so shit you want to cry for no reason? It just doesn't make any logical sense other than to a pg woman or a woman with PMT

Helen38 · 22/11/2005 10:42

Not sure that logic comes into it really, we have hormones remember they remove all logic, well mine anyway

3k · 22/11/2005 10:53

Helen I've been the same as you a few times, try and take some time out and have a cry if it makes your feel better.

My blood pressure was about 110/70 just once as it was creeping up and up so when it goes down to 117/55 that is low for me personally. Midwife said "your blood pressure is excellent but because yours is normally higher I now think it is too low"!! You cant win!!

Stretchies now looking big and purple - please tell me I'm not the only one!!

Helen38 · 22/11/2005 10:57

I have sooooooo many stretch mark you wouldn't believe it, mostly from ds1, a couple more from ds2 but I don't think is possible to get more this time! All the old ones are going a lovely shade of purple again as they had faded so just believe is not forever they will go!

TheOriginalTicTac · 22/11/2005 11:12

Blood pressure readings....

everyone has a baseline blood pressure but these do differ from person to person so 3K readings might be really low for someone else etc. The MW will take your reading and measure against your first reading...then decide if it is high or low!

There is a mathmatical calculation which determines what your bottom number should be but I can't remember it. I know it is something to do with pulse and age!

Tabs · 22/11/2005 11:42

Thought it was the top number was supposed to be about 100 + your age? But that's normally rather than during pregnancy - blood pressure normally drops during first (and second?) trimesters. Never sure what the bottom number is supposed to be - maybe that's your pulse rate?

TheOriginalTicTac · 22/11/2005 11:47

Not sure Tabs - if it was 100 + age we are all as fit as 17 year olds...which I know I am not ...perhpas I will ask again on the 5th!
