Welcome Helen38

I wish I could drink. I had 1 glass of wine at 6 weeks and felt like I'd drunk a bottle. Since then I've had nothing but water( hot or cold for variety).
Pineapple and coconut is ok - tastes like malibu, but i can't drink it every day.

Iknow from past pgs that I'll be desperate for cup of tea within an hour of baby being born, but at the moment it just doesn't taste the same.

Chloe55 · 16/11/2005 08:33

Hi Helen - what took you so long at getting on here! Scary thoughts on the 2 girls that had their babies at around 26 weeks but glad they were all ok.

You know the ligament pains we are all getting from time to time (you know the ones that feel like someone is literally knifing you in the side?) well I started again with them this mornng, so much so that I was struggling to breath because every intake of breath felt like my side was splitting open and I just couldn't stop crying, this lasted for about 30mins and then calmed enough for me to get up and get ready for work - then they started again for about another 30 mins and have since eased a bit but I know if I start walking around they will start up again. They have never been this bad before just wondered if anyone else gets them this painful?

cuffyj1 · 16/11/2005 09:28

Hi everyone!!

I had a bit of a silly cry yesterday. I didn't feel the baby move and i'd got it in my head that something was wrong and the more i kept thinking about it the more upset i was getting until i just burst into tears. Then as if it knew i was upset it kicked and then i felt a bit silly for crying. Anyway its moving loads this morning so i feel loads better.

Welcome Helen38

flamesparrow · 16/11/2005 09:31

Chloe - are you sure it is ligament pain and not that the baby is laying on a nerve? You're probably at work now, so you can't have a bath, but that normally helps me - it relaxes Spark enough for him to shift!

Helen38 · 16/11/2005 09:33

Morning!
I only discovered mumsnet a couple of weeks ago when googling to find out about adenoids as ds1 is having them out and gromits put in soon. Where in your side are your pains chloe? My pain has always been mostly low down, any shooting pains I have tend to be around the hip area and down my leg. have you been told all of the do's and don'ts? you may have alresdy talked about this but thresd is tooooo long to read to check! If not I can give you a few suggestions of ways to at least stop it getting worse the only way to get rid of it is to have the baby, mine goes very quicky post delivery.

Helen38 · 16/11/2005 09:37

Please excuse my typing not good at best of time, not getting enough sleep so really bad at the mo!

Chloe55 · 16/11/2005 09:42

I have suffered from endometriosis in the past which required surgery and the best way I can describe the pain is exactly like I used to have when the endometriosis flared up. Basically the pain is similar to a stitch but more intense and lower down, kinda towards the groin area and is made a little more comfortable if I bend over so that I squash the area that hurts. I am seeing the midwife tomorrow so will mention it to her as well as mentioning the achiness down my thigh and in my groin when I do too much - I'm like the walking wounded!

I'd kill for a bath now Flame

3k · 16/11/2005 09:52

Hi All,

Chloe - I get ligament pains and they sound similar to yours. I get them when I walk too much or stand too long and they have really settled now. They are very low down and on either side of my stomach but I get them more on the left. Have been getting twinges there for a few days and a few pains in the top of my bump but they are not too bad really.

Welcome Helen

flamesparrow · 16/11/2005 09:57

Quick plug here to all those considering cloth nappies... washabums

If you can join up, and introduce yourself as being dragged there by me, then I will love you forever (even if you never post again )

Just been given a trial run as moderator, and I need to get a few new members?

Helen38 · 16/11/2005 10:08

Physio told me that you need to be ladylike, basicly keep your knees together! Do things like getting in and out of the car or bed by sitting then swinging both legs in/out together. Don't sit with legs crossed and things like that. I am controling it much better this time as I got into habits like that early on. If you haven't seen a physio yet ask to, the quicker you get a belt the better they help a lot, I use mine pretty much all of the time esp good if you are going to be on your feet. Hot water bottle helps, could you sneak one into work up your jumper?

flamesparrow · 16/11/2005 10:12

I was told to keep my legs shut too... wanted to laugh because my first thought was "Information I could have done with 25 weeks ago!"

Sorry, been very rude - its good to have you with us Helen.

Chloe55 · 16/11/2005 10:13

Have been using the heatpacks that you can get for period pains and backache - Godsend !

Helen38 · 16/11/2005 10:13

Have to admit that I thought If I'd done that it wouldn't hurt would it!

flamesparrow · 16/11/2005 10:18

I was told that you weren't supposed to use the heat pads....

Helen38 · 16/11/2005 10:18

So, a question for you....... now that I have discovered this am I ever likely to do any house work or any of the things I should be doing? they say people get addicted to ebay but I can see chatting on here being as bad well the mw did tell me to try and sit down more!

Chloe55 · 16/11/2005 10:22

Flame - I only use them on my back, never the bump but they do ease the backache and Helen, I officially do less work at work than I ever used to since being on here

Helen38 · 16/11/2005 10:23

I used hotwater bottles with my other 2 is soothes nicely, not got to that point yet this time as mostly ok in the day. Don't run whatever you do, ds2 (4yrs) made a break for it out side school the other day and had to grab him, only ran a few steps but I thoyght was going to blub right there at the school gate......ow!

flamesparrow · 16/11/2005 10:25

My poor DD will be able to quote disney films by heart by the age of 4 thanks to MN

It is doing good things for her alphabet though - you show her a page of letters and ask her to find "S for Shrek" and she can do it first time

teuch · 16/11/2005 10:29

Hi all and welcome Helen!

I get quite severe ligament pain - last night it took me ages to shuffle back to my car, holding breath and belly, having bee traipsing around shopping centre for half hour. Nothing helps but lying down...

I get it mostly on my right, low down into the groin/hip.

Over the last week or so, I have been getting a sharp pain which feels deeper...the best I can describe it is like when you have an ulcer at the back of your mouth! I dunno, just feels more 'inside' than the muscle pain I get! Strange...

Helen38 · 16/11/2005 10:36

That sounds familiar, are you lots more weeks than me? later on with others got pain that felt more inside, is baby low? As they get bigger they press on inside of ligaments which hurts from the inside. I have never met anyone else who has had this prob in pg is really nice to talk to people who understand. Althought not nice for you as it hurts

Tabs · 16/11/2005 11:04

Morning all and welcome Helen! I'm afraid the bad news is that no, you won't get anything else done ever again now that you have discovered mumsnet!! You might think that this thread is sooooo long, but it's only been going for 3 weeks - we had loads more before this too! Do you want to give me some stats so that I can add you on to the next update? If you scroll to the bottom of this thread you'll see in the first post the info that we usually include - obviously up to you if there's any of it that you don't want to reveal though!

Hugs to all those suffering from ligament pains - I seem to be escaping those - still just my pelvis with the problem.

Flame - will take a look at your nappy site later today since you asked so nicely

Helen38 · 16/11/2005 11:37

here you go.... due 27th feb, baby#3 age 31 dh32, 2boys already don't know this one, 1st normal delivery 2nd c-sec as turned feet down at last mo, hoping to avoid another c-sec, live warwickshire that's me!

teuch · 16/11/2005 12:01

Helen - I am actually a bit of an interloper on this thread since I am officially due on the 28th Jan! Anyway, i'm still here...

29 wks + at the moment.

teuch · 16/11/2005 12:39

there seems to be a few wise and experienced people on this thread regarding employment/self-employment...I am starting a thread and would really appreciate your advice!

I will try and do one of those fancy link things once I get it sorted!
