TicTac - of course you're invited! Everyone is if they can make it. I'll start a separate thread for it later in the week I think. Jasnem - good to know that at least one person can be very flexible on dates, though I expect we'll manage to arrange it for the 1 day when you have something on!!!

Good news about them saving you from unnecessary needles TicTac, but tell us more about your SPD. My symptoms haven't got any worse, but are still there, so will try and remember to mention it to my m/w on Friday. Can you try and describe your pain for me to compare?

teuch - reckon you're having a girl as well then - my 'boy feelings' proved to be totally unreliable, so yours could be too!

TheOriginalTicTac · 14/11/2005 15:17

Tabs - do you remember that 1 time when you where a child, slipped in the bath and banged your flower on the bath edge and how it hurt for days? Well, that is the same pain I have!!

If that didn't help, I will try another way

Chloe55 · 14/11/2005 15:19

PMSL TicTac. I can totally remember how that one feels! And bless at you calling it your flower, reminds me of Monica off Friends.

TheOriginalTicTac · 14/11/2005 15:28

I wouldn't really know what else to call it. I didn't realise it was a Monica phrase

Chloe55 · 14/11/2005 15:35

Hee hee, yes that's the word she uses when she talks about giving her flower away (losing her virginity)

Tabs · 14/11/2005 15:48

Hmmm - think I know what you mean, and my pain could be described that way. Did she advise of anything you could/shouldn't do to help?
Wondering whether I can go to yoga tonight, or whether I should wait until I've seen m/w on Friday first.

teuch · 14/11/2005 15:57

i say go to yoga and tell the instructor that you are having pelvic pain but as yet undiagnosed - my instructor is great (better than midwives!) for advising!

pmsl at your terminology...my 5yo niece recently had a video at school about pregnancy and childbirth (I didn't get that until high school!!) and insists on asking everyone about their 'fahgina' or 'peense' which she pronounces in her best queen's english, since they are the proper 'grown-up' words... My grandad nearly crashed the car...

Frizbe · 14/11/2005 16:46

teuch really!! wow! very funny

Hey girls would you believe the local A&E was empty when we went in friday night, we hit it just before the drunks I think!!

Tictac, I still like the name, but I do have to ask, do you know the meaning of it?

Chloe lol at your dh

Teuch, 10 weeks to go hon!!! argh!!

Well on a good note midwife called today and isn't too miffed about me missing my apptmt last week and is coming to see me at home on Wed!! hurrah!! (must tidy up )

TheOriginalTicTac · 14/11/2005 16:48

Tabs - She says that rest really does help but if you don't want to rest aviod activity which encourages you to open your legs. She didn't mention yoga but she did mention breast stroke swimming! Otherwise you can make it worse. In severe cases women have ended up with all sorts of aids (from a brace to a wheelchair) because the pain is too much.

JuA · 14/11/2005 16:51

Hello all!
I hope everyones SPD isn't giving them too much pain - I haven't had that much pain - just general aches which are definetely associated with doing too much - I very religiously sit down when dd has her nap as it is the only chance I get during the day. We had a very energetic morning at soft play - she is at that age when she wants to go climbing up everywhere but isn't really safe to do it on her own - fortunately my friends are very good at helping look after her! and then she slept for 2.5 hours after lunch

We have our "twin" parent craft class on Wednesday - and we have got a babysitter so dh can come too. I only found out about it by accident as the midwife hadn't passed my name onto the right person!

I was out buying more maternity clothes at the weekend cos I can't fit into half the ones I have got! The majority of my trousers are on their maximum size! and some of my tops don't stretch over my bump any more

Tabs - congratulations on your little girl - and the scan picture is amazing - so clear

Tic Tac - glad your ante natal care is getting sorted out

Might be back later but dd is demanding my attention

3k · 14/11/2005 16:58

Hi Guys,

I could do with some advice. Had a very bad day today, my boss had a HUGE go at me as I was 15 mins late for work due to traffic. He told me I was taking the p*ss as I've had a lot of late mornings lately and because I still leave on time. He changed my hours back in the summer so that now I get tangled up with the school rush and I leave 40 mins for a 15 min journey. Anyway, the row escalated into other stuff and he was really nasty, said he wanted me to work longer hours, be back as soon as possible after baby is born, had a go at me for asking a question this morning re him selling the company etc etc. Anyway to cut a long story short I walked out of the office twice. First time was because he made me cry and I needed some space and to call DH who now wants to beat him up and second time was after he threw the other girl out of the office to have yet more gos at me. I have worked really hard for him, had only 3 days off sick all year and hardly any holiday and he moans at 10 mins here and there. Also when he changed my hours he got an extra 2 hours out of me a week for nothing so really he is still winning anyway. I told him at 1pm I was coming home as he had stressed me out and that I wasnt going to put baby through it. I'm not sure I will have a job tomorrow now anyway. As I'm self employed and 29 weeks on Thursday can I yet start my SMP? I know I can claim it through my limited company but when can I start it? Any other advise other than smacking him in the face which I really feel like doing???? I'm very down now and cant stop thinking about it - if I was employed properly this would be classed as harrassment!

flamesparrow · 14/11/2005 16:59

I go offline for a few hours, and look what happens!!!

I have had a very very low weekend - I sobbed hysterically over DH, and actually admitted it was more depression than all the other petty things I normally tell him I'm crying for. He was sooo good. He took us out to feed the ducks, and then cooked me a roast dinner I spent the rest of the evening sobbing some more, and drinking iron, but I am feeling much better today - possibly due to the tear exhaustion sleep of the dead!!!

I've now got online friends very worried about me , but it is nice to know that people care. My rl BF isn't quite so supportive depression-wise, but she has never really had it (when she has been low, there have been huge things going on in her life, so it has had a cause iykwim) BUT she is concerned about my braxton hicks - they started a few weeks ago, I had none with DD, and i get about 10 each evening... but they hurt - they start gentlish, but take my breath away by the last few. She says its probably nothing, but wants me to make sure I tell my midwife tomorrow. I'm gonna have a HUGE list of things to talk to her about tomorrow!!!

TicTac - for SPD... I get my answer tomorrow as to whether or not I am joining you!

And @ more meet ups - I wanna play

3k · 14/11/2005 17:06

Hi Flame - sorry you are feeling a bit down, I have been the same and I'm sure nasty boss is causing it.

TicTac - hope you SPD works out ok, sounds very painful. I have been lucky in this area thankfully but still getting shocking ligament pains!!

Going to call my stretchies "Ben Marks" from now on too as I think that is a more positive way to think about them (3 in total)!!

4blue1pink · 14/11/2005 17:22

hi flame sorry you feel so crap...what exactly is drinking iron?

TheOriginalTicTac · 14/11/2005 17:24

3K - You can start SMP 11 weeks before you expected due date I believe. As for the terms and conditions that you work under, I would still seak professional advice. I really don't know how it all works but CAB may be able to advise?!? But big hugs in the meantime and remember - baby first - work wanker last

Flame - at your depression! Your Braxton Hicks don't sound so good either and I think your BF is right, you really should ask her about them tomorrow. I didn't realise you where getting them that frequently or I would have advised you call your community office to get the MW to come to you to check you out earlier!!! You have got to get these things checked out..even if it is just to keep your mind at ease.

flamesparrow · 14/11/2005 17:26

I take spatone (liquid iron) in orange juice

4blue1pink · 14/11/2005 17:37

do you recommend it Flame - i wanted to ask everyone about iron actally. My booking bloods said my hb was 11.4 which did not sound fab to me - i asked consultant when i saw her and she just said gett your midwife to do a fbc later. i feel crap so took somw while waiting for fbc but no word of a lie that was friday and i have not been to loo since.

any one know about iron levels or what to take so i can crap (sorry if tmi) more easily!

flamesparrow · 14/11/2005 17:45

Yup - tis great stuff... I can poo and everything (Although saying that... I'm not remembering the last time - now I'm concerned!! Probably not braxton hicks at all, just constipation! ).

I can't take iron tablets - one pill will mess everything up for my insides for about a week. Spatone I can take 1 sachet a day for about 4 days before needing a couple of days gap, or as I normally go for, 2 sachets every 3 days. I have no idea what my iron levels are, all I know is (from last time) I show classic anaemia signs and get very very tearful, and if I take iron, it gets better

Fixing things the other way... I'm not the best person to ask - Nothing seems to do much to me. When the rest of the family have a terrible stomach bug, I have the sickness, but nothing else. The old basics are fruit, "roughage" (my mum swears by muesli, but I am intrigued how that doesn't just make things worse...), liquorice...

Jasnem · 14/11/2005 18:24

4blue1pink - "normal iron" results would be over 12, as far as I know. I take sytron which is a liquid, it is actually more likely to cause diarrhoea than constipation, but I find it balances my pregnancy constipation nicelyand so far I have not developed piles(a big problem in the past two pregnancies). Sorry if tmi. I get it on prescription, but you should be able to as well. I don't take tablets because they are all coated in gelatine and I am vegetarian.

3k - Surely that treatment is harassment; if you work for him regularly even self employed, don't youhave som rights? I'm not sure but it must be worth finding out. As for mat leave you can take it from 29 weeks - I would take the next two days off and not go back. It's really not worth that amount of stress.

tictac- sorry about the SPD, but I did like your description of the pain. You do seem to have struck it lucky with your midwives, so that is a positive at least.

flame - good luck tomorrow.

Jasnem · 14/11/2005 18:31

more on constipation; over the counter stuff like fybogel or senna is safe in pregnancy. Drink lots, increase your fibre intake, exercise if possible, and drink even more!

Frizbe · 14/11/2005 18:44

FS I've also had some take your breath away Braxtons, although not as often as you, I was going to mention it to my midwife on Wed as well!! hopefully it just means we're in for a quick labour! as I didn't even feel them with dd, but I had one set the other night that woke me up and had me pacing for quite a while....and I'm only 25 weeks.....argh!

3K, sorry to hear you had a pants day at work, you can take your maternity leave if you like, I'd recommend the maternity alliance website (.com) for great info. Personally if you can handle the drop in pay this early, I'd go for maternity leave, or if you get paid sick, go docs am, and get signed off for min of 2 weeks.

cuffyj1 · 14/11/2005 20:44

Hi everyone

Rang hospital today for gtt results, they're perfectly normal.

I went back to work today after a week on sick and it was crap. I work 1-7 lifting sacks of mail (for royal mail) and on my feet for all that time apart from breaks (this is wot they class as light duties. before i was pg i drove round in a van emptying boxes which was bloody easier) and my back was killing again after about 10 mins back at work. I've also asked my boss about maternity leave today and he aint got a clue wot to do (bloody idiot) his answer was he'd ask another woman wot she did when she was pg last year (u'd never think he was the boss)I've told him i want to finish dec 30th that's 4 weeks b4 due date. So that makes 7 weeks left of my 'light duties'

Chloe55 - lol at your dh that's sommat mine'd do, he's really clumsy.

Tictac & ixel - unusual names but like them.

Tabs - scan is so clear and looks so cute!

2 of my friends have had spd. 1 of them had an 11lb baby and gave birth naturally ouch!! Hope none of you are suffering too much.

flamesparrow · 14/11/2005 21:35

at your job!!!! That is light duties??? I had people being all concerned about me walking as far as the printer A lovely guy called Erik went all paternal and got everything for me!

Pointless TMI update - I've pooed

Think that's about it from here....

Frizbe · 15/11/2005 08:28

cuffyj I'd ask for a re assesment of those light duties!
You need to get a MatB1 Cert off your midwife, which you then take into work and give your 'boss' he then passes this onto HR who proceed to claim for your absence from the gov!
maternity alliance are a good site for info!

Frizbe · 15/11/2005 08:30

or even this bunch of people, looks like there are two lots using the same name, this site is far better! maternityalliance
