Hi Toffeepud welcome! you are not the only one with a bleed and spotting, there are a few of us around who have been experiencing the same... same here... also trying to stay positive and counting down to my 12 week scan next Thursday!

dirgeinvegas · 13/04/2011 15:58

Welcome Toffee (your name has brought on such a craving...mmmm).

How are you Tink?

Chip take a mini bottle with you this time. And a straw! If you give birth at the Portland you get a three course meal and champagne with your partner in your room (saw it on Portland Babies!). Makes the NHS tea and toast look a bit crap doesn't it? Grin

So I have been thinking about my rubbish mw visit on Monday and I think I'm going with an indie midwife. I have one coming to visit tomorrow night so I will let you know what she says.

Thanks Stace I will post when I get back from the hospital, hopefully all will be ok

SnoozleDoozle · 13/04/2011 16:10

Its only been 24 hours since I've been on here but the chat has moved on so much!

I'd love a new buggy too. With DD I had a Britax Trekker, which I loved, but the main reason was because we had a dog at the time and it was practical for walks in the forest etc. but it was very very heavy.(Although......when the pram was in the boot of the car, the dog didn't fit, so the walks in the forest plans didn't exactly work out as planned.....). Anyway, this time round, no dog, and I'd really prefer something lightweight. I also hated the carry-tot car seat, lifting it in and out nearly killed me, so I was considering investing in one of those car seats that starts off facing backwards, then can be turned round when they get bigger. Will have to check out Which magazine or something though, see how they compare safety wise. Also, I'm so jealous of all these buggy bargains - as I'm in N. Ireland, the likes of Kiddicare charge a fortune for delivery, thereby cancelling out any bargains, and obviously the options are fairly limited with eBay, Gumtree etc too. I'll maybe check out the local paper or something, see how I get on there.

cep · 13/04/2011 16:17

afternoon all, wow just took me ages to read all this. Grin

dirge before i forget good luck for tomorrow, very Envy of you having it already, as i only had booking in yesterday not expecting scan till may now. although when discussing it with mw she said "12 weeks" as though they couldn't possibly do it at any other time. Grin

toffee welcome, and congratulations. i know how you feel. i had a bleed at 6 weeks, have had 2 scans and 2 days after last scan had a bit more blood, so back to thinking bad news.

has anyone seen anything from 3rd? haven't seen her for a while. Hope she's ok.

alcohol, i've had 2 glassess since bfp (10+4 today). am not stopping completely but not having it very often.

very Envy of pram and pushchair talk dh is stubbornly saying don't need another one. pram is fine had a cosatto i2i, also bought a second hand pushchair (not sure what it is) easily folds down when went on holiday to Athens, but foot pad thing is broken and heavily taped, Hmm so thinking may be able to get another 2nd hand one. maybe a 2 seater. not sure about that though as ds will be 3 next month so maybe time we take that away completely, although can still be convienient. (sp?)

Have to admit, nothing to do with the no luck with the doppler yesterday but i can't help but feel that bad feeling again, (am getting fed up with it), my ms has gone now, i'm still tired but that could be cause ds is still waking us up. just don't feel pg now. am half dreading the scan.

Katiebeau · 13/04/2011 16:21

FX for you Dirgeinvegas x

Katiebeau · 13/04/2011 16:32

CEP - my symptoms are fading too (except the boobs unfortunately). 11 + 3 today so hopefully that's the reason. I am also concerned about the scan. I can't loose the thought something is wrong this time. Stupid I know but it's there, especially at night!

Bluetinkerbell · 13/04/2011 16:39

Dirge think I'm ok, still having some spotting, but not as bad as yesterday morning.
just over a week to go now for the scan, really counting down to that, and bad news or not, I will definitely be busy during the Easter weekend, my family is coming over for DD's baptism, so will be able to keep my mind of things, or a shoulder to cry on, but hopefully it will be to share lots of joy and announcing DC2 to everyone on Easter Sunday.

cep I have also not stopped drinking alcohol completely, only 1 glass every 2 weeks or so.
we are having a girlie night in at our place tonight, only 2 friends who are coming know, so are providing me with fake alcoholic drinks Wink because I don't really have a reason not to drink as I don't have to drive anywhere.

pushchair talk... hopefully we can have SIL's pushchair/pram, she bought a brand new one for DC4, but he will only be 1.5 years old by the time we have our LO, so doubt whether we can have it then. Our Quinny Buzz broke and we bought a small easily foldable one for DD to go and walks and do shopping. Think a double buggy will be silly as DD will be 3 by the time LO will be born, so I'm thinking of a buggy board.

CazandBelle · 13/04/2011 16:46

We're in the paper! :) Just incase anyone wanted a little peek!

I'm really pleased with the write up. A 2nd paper is coming to see us tomorrow as well. What a mini celeb my Belle is becoming!

Baby brain moment with the link!

chipmonkey · 13/04/2011 17:15

Dirge sorry but when you say "Indie Midwife" I can't help but picture a MW turning up at your door dressed as Siouxsie Sioux!Grin

Toffee meant to say welcome to the thread. Sorry to be so rude!Blush

Caz great write up! And I love your specs!

bumpandisaacsmum · 13/04/2011 17:46

Welcome toffee I hope that you and others with worries (cep/tink) soon have some good news x x

staceroo lots of pushchairs have adjustable handle height now (mamas&papas/mothercare/icandy to name a few). Also dont worry re: additional pain/big baby as your DH is tall - my sister is 5' and her DH 6'6" she had a normal size baby but baby was very long which she feels didn't add any additional pain!!!

mashpot I too have been taking the pregnacare multivits, more due to not keeping much down (and not really wanting to eat fruit/veg at the mo) so thought it would cover most things!!

Dirge Good luck with the In. MW, hope you get on better with her than the previous MW.

alcohol I have never really drank much (possibly one or two nights in the summer & Christmas I'll have one if I can be bothered) therefore not having any alcohol during pg isn't any bother to me so will stay off it.

caz that is a great write up, hopefully you will have lots of people with you on Belle's Angel Day, I have no doubt you will raise over and above your target.

This thread moves really quickly... takes a while to catch up each time I come on :)

chipmonkey · 13/04/2011 18:13

I have thrown up my pregnacare tablets on several occasions which is a bit of a worry.

Staceroo · 13/04/2011 19:38

Caz that's fab press for your special day. Good luck with it, and I'm sure you will reach that target! Sad to read the story though, it really is an unbelievable figure of 17 stillborn each day :(

Dirge what's an indie midwife?

Thanks all for more advise about pushchairs, though Snoozle you've just given me another worry! Our dog rides in the boot of the car when we go for walks to the beach and sand dunes etc! How is that going to work with a pushchair to go in there too!!??

Cep, I think you must be about the same dates as me, as still waiting for a date for my 12 week scan, but because of wedding etc I think it will be 1st week in May at the earliest! :( I'm 9+4 today.

Also, I think the symptons are just improving as the hormones settle, beacuse my nausia has settled somewhat. But still have very sore boobs and am v tired! I think we should perhaps just consider ourselves lucky that it's getting easier! (Not that I'm not completely panicking all the time that something is wrong! Even though I know I should be enjoying being pg, it's just to nerve wracking!!)

Hi Toffee!! Welcome! :o

TerrysNo2 · 13/04/2011 19:50

Hello all!

No time to read recently as all time has been spent on the hunt for a new car. But we have now found one, yay!! We are getting a VW Tiguan. I hope if anyone has one, that they like it!

Right, off to backread. One question though katie when are you due? I am due on the 4th Nov so 10+5 today, I am confused by your dates, and I like order Grin. Did you get dated to Oct but are staying with us?

OP posts:
goldmaple · 13/04/2011 20:05

cazandbelle really impressed that you are doing something so positive! I had no idea there are 17 a day!! I hope your fundraiser is a huge success (sure it will be!):)

blue glad that you are doing better!

toffee welcome:)

I cannot wait until we all reach 13 weeks and can worry a bit less and start shopping/planning more... except I've already picked out a nusery theme Blush

I am not fitting into my pants very well anymore (due to bloating) and shirts are snug making me look fat so I am going to buy some maternity clothes soon. Cannot afford to get many new things so was wondering if any already-mums have tried the 'belly band' which you wear with your original pants just don't do up the buttons. Did it work? Do you recommend it - would really save me a bundle.
I don't really have a bump, just widened everywhere, so I'm not sure if it would fit?

alicat10 · 13/04/2011 20:09

Welcome Toffee

I am not feeling pregant really - just a bit tired and big boobed. My dating scan is this Fri (I'll be 10+3) and I am convinced they will be telling me that I'm no longer pregnant - not sure why I feel so pessimistic this time and already getting stressed and nervous about it. Not least orgainising separate friends to look after DS & DD as really don't want them to be there in case it is bad.

Katiebeau · 13/04/2011 20:17

Hello Terry. Indeed I thought I was November 4th when I joined and then found at my dating scan I was 30/31st October. I posted about this oh, 3 weeks ago and asked if I could stay! I'm glad I did, chatty lot just like me. Smile

Pipsbump · 13/04/2011 20:23

Hello all,

Hello toffee welcome...oh sticky toffee pudding and custard mmm!

What a day. Went to docs this morning and she referred me to the epu to rule out a late (v late) ectopic pregnancy. We got to the hospital just before midday and left just before 5pm. I don't think I've experienced so many emotions in such a short space of time.

Pip is in there and so far so good (he shook his hand at us as if to say leave me alone, I'm doing my own thing in here woman) :o. Even though I've had two previous pregnancies I've never seen a heartbeat or a baby in there. I think the sonographer thought I was a bit mad, I cried like a baby (pardon the pun). I can't stop looking at my print out.

I am now shattered, think I need an early night and I'm looking forward to my time off next week.

goldmaple I know what you mean about getting to 13 weeks...I keep thinking in steps...12 week scan...16 week appointment...20 week scan....and it goes on. It is a continuous countdown.

Oh Masterchef this eve...makes me hungry too!

alicat10 · 13/04/2011 20:25

Caz will there be a way for us to join in online - with raffle or auction or something? I am local-ish (Bris) so might even be able to come along.

alicat10 · 13/04/2011 20:28

Pipsbump sorry crossed post - that is great news :) sorry it was such atrying day to get there but what a wonderful ending - a first pic - and I am sure you will sleep like a baby.

Katiebeau · 13/04/2011 20:34

When do we have to move "house"? This one is getting full.

cazandbelle - good luck and fantastic article (and photo!). You are doing so much to raise , money and keep Belle's memory alive. xxx I still can't get over your bravery.

TerrysNo2 · 13/04/2011 20:47

We need a new house soon. I started the last one, who's going to do it this time?!!?

OP posts:
cep · 13/04/2011 20:48

pipsbump glad for the good scan news. Grin

Poppet45 · 13/04/2011 20:54

Oh Pipsbump I'm so pleased to hear your great news and Cazandbelle that was a lovely news article, between you both your posts brought a tear to my eye

Pipsbump · 13/04/2011 20:54
