Rollercoaster know what you mean about making an effort to take the DCs out. I either go totally overboard and take them somewhere and get exhausted, or they watch way too much TV. Fortunately, DD is at school so is getting some mental/physical stimulation.

gotArt Am not sure whether your ILs are either extremely insensitive/dense or perhaps your DH has been saying to them that they are very welcome. I would be livid. My mom is coming over from California, probably in August, and have said that we just don't have the room and she has been very understanding about it.

Loopy decided in the end to get a babysitter for the consultant's appt this afternoon. Am a bit nervous tbh. Several people have commented that they didn't know I was pregnant and was the baby due in December Shock. I've only put on about 12 pounds and am getting concerned. The measurements last week at m/w were on the small size of normal, but she wasn't unduly concerned. The other thing making me a bit nervous is last pregnancy when I saw her at 37 weeks, she decided I needed to deliver the next day...

So, am ready not to be pregnant anymore, but am not really sure about having a 3rd. I know, a bit late Grin

I saw the second half of the multiples programme last night, and I think I'm now cured of my secret wish for twins... When I discovered I was pg, I kept joking to DH how nice it would be to have twins (partly to freak him out Grin), partly because I thought in the line of 'get-it-over-and-done-with'. But now I think one baby is quite enough at a time!

Getting a bit impatient now, really looking forward to meeting it! 38+2 today, saw midwife earlier, baby is 3-2/5 engaged, so certainly heading in the right direction. Lots of rummaging inside my pelvis, which sometimes feels really uncomfortable - not painful, but making me draw my breath in sharply and put my hand on my bump - it's great to see people around me freak out when I do it Grin.

Our house is a tip...sigh. Waiting for new carpets for stairs and landing and laminate for the nursery...Still need to paint skirting boards, but I've lost motivation now to do it, it's such hard work. Might have to unload that on DH to do at the weekend.

Just had a photographer around to get some bump pictures taken. We didn't take any photos earlier, which I really regret now, and when we tried to do some bump shots ourselves a few weeks ago, they turned out just awful. So decided to splash out for a professional to get some done for us! She'll come back when then baby is here, too, I'm really pleased with what I've seen so far, it'll be such a nice memory and also something we can show DC in a few years.

Right, better go and unpack the most recent Amazon delivery - thermometer, mirror for the car seat, more books, clary sage and finally the sling! Still need to buy a changing bag, just can't make up my mind which one to get... Decisions decisions!

Afternoon, just popping in to see if there are any more babies - isn't mummyW having her CS sometime v soon? Have been thinking of her as we are due date buddies :)

Didn't see the multiples program but was also one who secretly hoped for twins first time around too! Glad it didn't turn out that way though.

Well Mum has gone home and typically loads of twinges but think they are just BH's. Off to get a haircut in a minute to attempt to look a bit more glam in post-birth photos :o

jbrd the pics sounds nice. Kind of regret not taking more of mine when pg with DD but then saw a pic DH took on Monday of me looking v huge and uncomfortable this time around so remembered why there aren't more!

Hello everyone else! Got to go but will be back later and will attempt to think up some potential thread titles

cowboylover · 27/04/2011 13:39

I lost track of the days and forgot that multiples programme was on last night! Sure it will be repeated sometime as they usually are on BBC3. I always said I would like twins and frie DS that have them said I must be mad!

ilove I hope all goes well this afternoon with the consultant. I have got my last planned one on Tuesday and some reason nervous about it even though all before have been fine.

Jbrd Photos sound really nice, I keep saying we should take some but never get around to it so will make an effort to this week.

Plan for the rest of the day is to tidy up our bedroom so I can put the swing crib together and work out the best place to put it.

kiwigirlinlondon · 27/04/2011 14:14

ilove good luck with the consultant today. If it makes you feel any better I have also measured consistently smaller than average and only gained 8kg at 38 weeks and they never seem worried about it. Im sure it is less stress on my body (as I'm a shortie) and I feel better for it but I do worry occasionally that baby is ok and too teeny

jbrd the photos sound a lovely idea. Wish I had done that too. We've taken a couple to send to overseas friends & family but nothing really gorgeous. Maybe I'll wash my hair today and get DH to take some

I also thought twins would be great but am now quite happy to be just having 1!

I'm 39 weeks today (depending on whether I believe the earlier of the 2 due dates - only 2 days in it though) and getting a few period-like pains which is encouraging. I'm really hoping the baby comes before my mum arrives on the 7th so it's just me and DH, and also to get the most help from her that I can with the baby as she's only staying 3 weeks. So if nothing happens before, this weekend I'll start trying any diy induction methods I can - I've warned DH!! :) Fingers crossed

jbells · 27/04/2011 15:22

Afternoon all. Well i havnt had a very exciting day dd is in nursery so ive taken the opportunity to try and get the house scrubbed and tidy ive managed all downstairs up to now but then needed a break as my bk was in agony so im currently sat enjoying the sunshine in the garden. Probably shudnt of stopped as dont want to start agen now but with decorating spare room for dd to move into r bedroom has becum a dumping groundand is a bomb site.

I am also guilty of wanting twins kind of hoped for them both times round altho not sure how id cope with the finance or the rest of it lol

i also wud really like to get sum photos done but cant really afford it and at now 31lb heavier than i was feel like a whale very jelous of those of u with small weight gains people keep telling me its all bump but not sure if i believe them Hmm im also going to try and get hold of one of those cast bumps b4 baby arrives got between 2-3 wks to do it unless lil one decides to cum early so shud manage

hope everyone is enjoying the weather will pop bk on later to c if there has bin anymore birth announcements :)

GotArt · 27/04/2011 16:08

SIL emailed back and said she understands about not wanting to have them stay here and said that mom, (MIL) is overpoweringly loud most of the time and knows how much she drives people nuts, herself included. So at least she is on my side. After her email, I do get the impression that DH has only been talking to his mom about it being OK for them to stay. I told DH last night that I emailed his sister and I said they were coming for a week but his sister wasn't making final reservations until next week for accommodation and I immediately jumped into saying 'there must be a TravelLodge at Tillicum or somewhere near' as there isn't much in our area and I'm sure if they're here that long, they'll want a kitchenette. He went right along with it and discussed it all fine and dandy so I think he has also come over to my side, but would never openly admit it, although that drives my pregnant hormones mad, I'll take what I can get without an argument, iyswim.

Will catch up later today... must get some coffee on and get ready for playdate. Have to return an orange juice I bought before going over... nothing worse to drink than funky orange juice. Gad! It was awful. DD even turned her nose up at it. Good to see she knows when something isn't right and its not just that she doesn't like it.

brillopads · 27/04/2011 17:09

MW appt this morning to transfer my care as I'm requesting a homebirth didn't go quite to plan. It was at 9am & the bus I presumed would be every 10 mins was more like every half-hour, so I ended up getting a different one - different bus company so more expensive & didn't even go where I wanted but the driver was happy take my money

MW was asking if I'd had any iron tablets as my levels were apparently low earlier on during pregnancy- this was the first I'd heard of it. Also I got told off for not having been counting bump's movements and having at least 10 a day. Bump measured small again (this was the MW who was keen to send me off for growth scan last time) so she got a doctor to have a look who said that she wasn't concerned ... but still booked me for a further growth scan on 11th May. Bump is not engaged so guess I'm not about to pop at any moment ...37 weeks feels like such a milestone; it seems like AAAGes til my due date @ 18th May

Tried to call for Gas & air delivery to home, no answer on both numbers harumph

Bonkerz · 27/04/2011 18:19

Hi all.

Loved reading your birth story perpetual and am slightly Envy that you have a gorgeous new baby. mine just seems so far away!

Spent today at twinlakes in leicester with my sister and family, have got burnt but had a lovely day. Kids loved running around and going on the rides and i enjoyed just sitting and watching although was itching to get on some of the rides too!

Car still no nearer to being fixed. The garage are dragging their feet and being arses about finding a gearbox. Have told me they cant find one so i have been online and sourced 2 for them and emailed it over. They have said they cant get car in garage till next week which means they will have WED/THURS/FRI/SAT/SUN/MON to get car sorted and back to us because of my CS. Am seriously annoyed with it all but have come up with a plan whereby we wont lose out financially if they keep mucking us about and have given them the option of taking our car back (not what i want to do but am fed up with it all) and letting us drive away a more expensive, newer, lower milage 7 seater that they have to put a new cam belt/MOT and 6 months tax on! that should give them the rocket up their butts that they need to find a gearbox surely!
In the mean time im left to drive a car around that just doesnt feel safe but i have to use it!

Pains are a bit of a nightmare and im getting alot of nagging from my sister who has threatened to come to midwife with me tomorrow so she can tell midwife whats going on. Nothing regular BUT all other signs are worrying. I am now so swollen down there that it feels like im permanently open especially at the rear! (TMI!LOL) i cant work out if its a pile or how baby is pushing but its very uncomfortable. Sis reckons i should ask to be examined but i think its fuss for no reason!
12 days left till my CS and im focusing on that now.

MummyWilliams · 27/04/2011 18:46

gotart A SIL who talks sense :) glad you've got it sorted out.

jbells sounds like a busy day, hope you relax this evening as well :)

cowboy how is the crib? Did you find somewhere to put it? I am presuming this one will not sleep alone like DD so will be in with us - haven't even considered where moses basket will go if he likes being on his own!! Might need to get DH to do some furniture shifting on Fri.

Well I am officially more uncomfortable than I have ever been! Feels v low down now front and back and bump has def dropped some more. Too uncomfortable to even bounce on my ball! On the plus side, am v pleased with my new haircut though :)

Going to catch up with yesterday's masterchef before tonights grand final. Have a nice evening all x

QwertyQueen · 27/04/2011 19:43

Dont panic qwerty. Hope your ok

Bonkerz · 27/04/2011 20:23

querty, honest dont panic. HAs baby been head down??????
funny story.......my sister had a trickling sensation at 35 weeks after baby had been very active, she was convinced her waters had gone.......rushed to hospital and midwife examined her and said that baby had turned from breech to head down and the pressure of baby pushing was causing her to leak urine. my sister was mortified!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rollercoasteryears · 27/04/2011 21:24

MummyW best of luck for tomorrow, hope it all goes brilliantly and looking forward to hearing all about it!

Perpetually thanks for sharing your birth story - I was also v touched by your obvious happiness Smile

Qwerty I second the advice from the others - put a pad on and sniff it, amniotic fluid does smell kind of sweet, you'll be able to tell that it's not wee if that's the case. If you ring the hospital and go in, take the pad with you for them to look at! (My waters broke first with DS and it was a low-key (ish) trickle rather than a gush, so it could well be, my contractions didn't start for another 36 hours). Keep us posted and don't panic!

GotArt · 27/04/2011 21:52

Qwerty Same happened with me... it was as if when DD turned head down, she pulled bladder up for a pillow... it was constant leaking for about two weeks, probably why I didn't think anything of it when my waters did go as it was just a bigger 'pee' leak. [chmm] Don't panic though. Go with flow... no pun intended. [cgrin]

brillo You're suppose to count baby's movements? I don't; just seems to be never ending. Yesterday at MW appt, baby kicked a few times so hard I thought he was going to come right out through my side, while MW had heart monitor on. You could see the heal for crying out loud! Right now, baby has both feet sticking out top right, just under rib cage. I'm so tender.

Bonkerz Grr about car!

MummyW Good luck tomorrow. [cgrin]

Went to a playdate this morning, which is more for us mums than the kids. lol. Now for a nap.
