Hello all, nothing new to report here. Just popped on to check saturday is still on, I have left a message on fb page if anyone is around... xx

Diege · 18/07/2011 14:44

Hi BUMPS! Think we're gradually getting Saturday sorted - bleedin' engineering works!!! Grin Will be good to see you and compare bumps!
KAYZ, I agree with CANT, finish the pack and then you'll know where you are. Very excited for you Smile.

Moosy · 18/07/2011 19:31

Train tickets booked :)

Kayzr · 18/07/2011 20:10

Oh.My.Dear.God!! I've just had an induction at the gym. My legs are killing me and I feel like they will fall off. I'm going to cry. But I need to lose some weight before I get pregnant.

Morning,

It's DS1's last day at nursery today. I cried Sad so did loads of the kids and parents. It's mad because the classroom he's moving to is next to the nursery. Plus they still get to see their teacher. So why I cried I don't know.

I start my week long driving course this afternoon. I can't believe my test is only a week away.

tinkbig · 22/07/2011 12:17

hi kay i cried when dd1 started and left nursery
i feel sad as dd1 will be moving up to a new class in sept she has been in her current class for 2 years
good luck with driving

enjoyed town this morning bought myself animal - flipflops for hol, purse and bag :) hv a sale and yummy bits in waitrose

bumpsnowjustplump · 22/07/2011 14:45

See you all tomorrow... there are works on my main line and would have to get a bus part of the way so have decided to drive as there is no congestion charge..... have trusty sat nav but will just need to find parking. whoop whoop

on a sadder note

work called me today to inform me that a man I have been caring for has shingles.... I got so worried I have been sick, and phoned my mw in tears and not breathing very well, who assured me that I am safe as I had chicken pox as a kid.... I have double checked this with the gp so am just trying to relax again and get my heart rate down a little.... phew!!!!!!!

GruffaloSoldier · 22/07/2011 23:13

Hi

Yes we are driving tomorrow too. Hopefully we will find somewhere not too expensive to park!

Bump - Im sure you will be ok. Also my sister did actually get shingles when she was pregnant and all was fine so try not to worry. She then got bronchitus (sp) and a hernia. Nightmare!

I had my first "keep in touch" day this morning as a consultant and it went really well. I left DS1 and DS2 in DH's very capable hands, but unfortunately DS2 decided that he prefers boob and would not touch the bottle of expressed milk I left him! Grrr! DH syringed it into his mouth in the end LOL! Little monkey. Ah well he is only 3 months old. I guess I will just have to keep trying him with a bottle. He took one when he was 9 weeks old of expressed milk but I didn't keep it up. Oops!

Anyway see you all tomorrow :-)

Hope you all have a fab meet-up today (expect most of you are already on your way there, so won't read this before you get there). Sorry we can't make it. We did come home from hospital on Tuesday (which is amazing, seeing as normally patients are in for 7-10 days after this procedure), but DD was moving around so much on Sunday that her epidural got disconnected, so she went to oral morphine and was much better for being able to move around. Found out yesterday that the medication she's supposed to take 3 times a day (8 hour intervals - back to waking her during the night!) and which she hates, contains lactose - even though her notes state she is dairy intolerant. GP has said just to stop giving it to her so we'll see how she goes... I fear that she is not saying when she is hurting, as she doesn't want any medicine - even pink medicine (calpol), but am sure she will say if she's in real pain. Changing nappies is traumatic because she has two catherters in, but one comes out by Thursday and we can't wait for that (well, except that we're supposed to pull it out ourselves if it doesn't fall out Hmm). Thanks for all the messages on FB.

So enough about us - Kayz, well done on gym activity - they do say "no pain, no gain". Good luck with ttc Grin
Gruff - DS2 will take to the bottle when he has to - DD did this when I went to my best friend's hen do when she was 4 months old - wouldn't take from a bottle all day. Syringe is a great idea, my Mum resorted to that too when DD was about 8 months old. Hope you enjoy the summer holidays with DH at home.

Bumps - sorry for shingles scare - glad mw could reassure you. My aunt had it when I was pg with DD and I got the same response - because I had had cp when I was little there was no danger.

Tink - glad to see your shopping continues Grin

Have a great meet-up.

SESthebrave · 23/07/2011 21:12

Great meet up :)

We'll have to arrange another one I think though so that Star, Gruff, Sorky (and anyone else!) can make it Wink

It was great to see everyone and catch up on the LOs. I'm only sorry that I felt I kept starting conversations that I couldn't finish due to interruptions/disappearances from DS! He absolutely loved the playground though and fell asleep very reluctantly but very quickly this evening!
All the LOs have (obviously I know!) grown up so much but are still so cute. Diege - great to meet your gorgeous DD3 this time; Moosy - F has grown so much and I'm totally with you on thinking that her hair is beautiful with it's natural flick out; Bumps - your 2 were playing so nicely together (is it always like that?!) and Giraffe it was lovely to have a catch up and hear about the SG (thanks for the raspberries too!)
Btw, Diege and Bumps were looking wonderful with their bumps and I think I'm going to have to clear my diary for the end of October/start of Nov so that I can keep an eye on MN for labour threads / birth announcements!
Hope everyone had good journeys home / on to tonight's stop overs!

Star - so good to hear about DD's progress but grrrrr at her being given meds containing lactose! I'm sure if she was uncomfortable with pain, she'd make it known but she is obviously such a brave girl. Sounds like you've coped amazingly too. (((hugs)))

Gruff - glad your KIT day went well. O always struggled to take a bottle too but eventually took it when he was hungry enough. I can't believe your DS2 is 3mo already!

Kayz - good luck with the driving and ttc :)

Hello Cant , tink and anyone else around.

As for me, first AF post mc arrived this morning and along with it the pangs of broodiness. DH had better be prepared! I'm not sure either of us is prepared for the rollercoaster ahead but if we don't give it a go, we don't give oursleves a chance.
Things are really busy for me at work at the moment. My boss is on holiday for just over 2 weeks (gone off to Florida, lucky thing!) and has asked me to look after his role whilst he's away. Great to be asked but feel it's a huge opportunity to get myself "noticed" and I need to try and do that whilst doing my own job at the same time!

Anyway, enough of my ramblings! DH and I are having a soppy evening and watching Love Actually. I love it! Especially the Colin Firth story line :)

GruffaloSoldier · 23/07/2011 23:10

Hello

well I still cannot believe what happened today! Absolutely awful. I am so sorry I missed everyone.

Absolute nightmare. Left late anyway (we look after a girl with autism on Sat am-I didn't cancel because we have missed loads with her because of Mum dying and I felt really bad about cancelling again). Arrived in Kensington area at 14.30 and then took one wrong turn which ended us up in the West End on a Saturday afternoon. Chaos! Was so stressed. My phone was in the boot so couldn't call anyone as we couldn't stop. We tried to get back and ended up taking nearly an hour - a huge detour and then parked in car park (same one as Bumps) at 15.15 but by this time 3 month old baby was getting hungry! DH put up the pushchair/paid for parking while I quickly gave DS2 a short bfeed. Got the kids in the buggy - when we finally got to street level my phone eventually got signal and I called Giraffe and then found out you were all leaving! We had walked about halfway to the playground when we spotted Bumps - spoke to her briefly but didn't want to keep her too long as she had to get back to car park. We realised, by the time we got to the playground it would be time to come back and no point in paying anymore so we gave up and went back to car, had a drink and drove all the way back!

It took us 2 hours to get there. we were out of the car for 30mins, and then took us just over an hour to drive home.

3 hours drive and managed to see bumps for like 2 mins LOL

I have to laugh or I will cry. I want to cry!

Anyway glad you all had a fab time and be rest assured my lesson is learned. 1. Do not work the day of a wagon meet up. 2. Leave nice and early. 3. Use a map and do not leave it all to DH 4. Dont drive in London on Sat pm!!!

Thank goodness the children were good!

Kayzr · 24/07/2011 08:17

Oh Gruff what a day!! Sounds horrible being stuck in London.

Star, I'm glad DD is making good progress. Shame about the medicine though. I'd assume doctors would check that sort of thing.

I changed my driving test yesterday to the 10th August. So now I have more time to learn. And today is the last day of my pills. We aren't trying straight away though. Going to chart for a month first.

Hope you are all well.

Moosy · 25/07/2011 14:56

Gruff, Star and Sorky, so sorry we didn't get to see you on saturday, p'raps we shouldn't wait a year for the next one so we can all get together again soon?

It was a lovely day and that park was fab, maybe next time we go Fizzy will even actually step on the sand Shock, all the children have grown up so much since last year, it's really nice to see the changes in everyone.

My journey back was interesting Hmm, I missed the 4.00 train by miles, then couldn't fathom St Pancras station so spent ages wandering around - finally found the right platform but got on the wrong train so it took 1 hour to get there instead of 30 minutes! DH met me at the station with the girls, who were surprisingly happy having spent 5.5 hours in the car!

The party was ok, but it went on ridiculously late (kareoke until 4.30am!) so we didn't get much sleep, although we did at least have a bedroom (and a shower!), not a spooky loft - the other family of friends slept in our tent as their children are older and more used to camping :) The journey back was ok but I don't envy anyone who ever has to go on the m25, it's hell on earth!

The only sad part of the weekend was seeing the children of the family that we went to stay with. They're so sad that they've moved away - they kept asking if they could come back with us and kept saying they wish they hadn't ever moved house. It was heart-breaking :( It also seems they're not actually being looked after very well, there's food issues and a few other things to do with behaviour and pecking order between the pets and the children (dogs=perfect, children=naughty Hmm). We're trying to sort some help out from here but it's hard being so far away...

tinkbig · 25/07/2011 21:02

ur meetup sounds fab

gruff sorry for long journey

had a good weekend here

GingerbreadGiraffe · 26/07/2011 08:48

hi everyone one

Sorry for being AWOL for so long.

It was great to see Ses, Moosy, Diege, Bumps. Sorry to miss you Gruff. And also Sorky. Cant - you were also missed too.

It was lovely to meeting Diege's lovely DDs and Bumps' two DCs again. Also was lovely to see how grown up Ses's O has got and Moosy's smallest DD. All so cute. Grin

I didnt take the Small Giraffe as she wanted to stay with Daddy Hmm which was probably as well in the end as I screwed up my journey and ended up going up and down lots of steps on the tube and walking for over an hour in the park!

Moosy- your journey didnt sound so good in the end. Did DD stay asleep for much longer? Glad you got a room for the overnight stay though :)

I drive the M25 everyday and it really isnt fun. I did a hooge detour last night because it was so bad... Biscuit

Kayz- hooray for TTC plans. Im also thinking of septemberish for starting so maybe we can be have a small group of us falling off wagon...Will you have homebirth again if possible?

Star- How is DD doing? it sounds like things went very well.

Hi everyone else and Tink
xx

GingerbreadGiraffe · 26/07/2011 08:49

x-posts. Morning Tink!

Kayzr · 26/07/2011 09:47

Ginger. Yeah I'll certainly have a homebirth again if I can. I'm slightly worried about the size of the baby. As Dylan was 10lb 5oz. It's in my mind that the next will be huge.

Diege · 26/07/2011 10:06

Hello! Got back safely from London Sunday night. Really great to see everyone, and the park was fab too! Dds really enjoyed it, esp dd3 who had never been to London before. We saw Kung Foo Panda 2 3d at Leicester Square in the evening, then went to Covent Garden Sunday am and then on to Hamley's (nightmare!) before getting the train back. We were all shattered but had a great time. Glad you avoided the scary attic MOOS Grin, and sorry GRUFF about your experience - how frustrating!
Mw appointment today, then dd1's birthday tomorrow. We're having the party on Saturday which usually means the birthday becomes 'spread out'. Trying to avoid the 2 cakes scenario again this year Hmm
Love to all! D x

Starshinetiger · 26/07/2011 13:30

Afternoon all. Sorry for nightmare journeys (especially Gruff and Moos - sounds like it was not a good day for travel). Am definitely up for a meet-up whenever it happens.
Moos - sorry for it being so hard seeing those children. Does sound difficult.
Gruff - hope you have had a couple of relaxing days since your torrid journey.
GYo - yay for impending falling of the wagon-ness Grin
Diege - your London weekend sounds fun.
Had a tough weekend here - I discovered on Friday that the hospital pharmacy had prescribed one of DDs medication in tablets that were lactose based, despite her notes listing her intolerances at the top. Had thought the diarrohea was caused by all the meds. Saw GP on Friday who just said - "I don't know what she's on it for, I'd just stop it". Well, turns out it was to relax her bladder, so the spasms aren't so bad - Angry - despite being on calpol and diazapam, she really suffered over the weekend -ward were really good and told me on Sun to give her nurofen as well. Saw GP (his wife) again on Mon, who did ring round to all local pharmacies and local hospital pharmacy who said the liquid version was out of stock as was recalled 2 months ago. In the end, the ward at GOSH ordered some as they can still get it and DH did a 3 hour train and tube round trip into London yesterday evening to get it! Our neighbour is an absolute angel though - she offered DH her travel card, so his travel ended up free - soooo kind and thoughtful of her. After 2 doses, DD is much better today (although pain is keeping her up at night and over the weekend she pretty much wanted to be carried/held all weekend, so it's like having a (very) heavy newborn again!!). Hope we've turned a corner for her, although it will be a big relief when one of the catheters comes out this week (really hoping it falls out on its own - notes say "or Mum to remove it"!!! Nurse will come on Thurs/Fri, so she should be able to help.

Now a quick advert - would anyone like 2 pairs of boys swimming trunks 2-3 years? Free to a good home. Have been sorting out stuff this morning and don't think there's much point in putting them in the loft. Anyone who wants them, let me know.

tinkbig · 26/07/2011 14:03

star - glad u got medicene
diege good luck with mwand parties

Diege · 26/07/2011 15:33

Hi TINKS, STAR. That sounds a nightmare STAR Sad. Poor dd, and you and dh of course!! Hopefully as you say, you will have turned a corner by the end of the week. Had a catheter in with dd1 for a few days because of a suspected kidney blockage and I remember how scary chaging nappies were!
On the boy's swim shorts, would love these for ds if that's ok?
Mw appointment fine - not my usual one, a 'stand-in' and much nicer than my usual. Heard hb fine but she wanted to get a clear, swish-free sound without the placenta noise there so took 10 mins lying there until she got a clear reading. I was stressed! Maybe my old grouch of a mw is ok after all...Back in 3 weeks for anti-d - will be 28 weeks then, eeek!!!

Kayzr · 27/07/2011 09:50

Diege I remember lying for 20 minutes while my mw tried to get a clear sound with DS2. She gave up in the end when she realised I was panicking about something being wrong.

AF turned up today so I'm now offically charting. But looking at them does make it look like it's going to be hard to concieve due to DP working away. It's a bit annoying.

DS2 has just used the potty!! Grin

cantmummyhaveabreak · 27/07/2011 09:56

Happy birthday to your DS, Diege :)

Have been a bit manic here... DH has been having problems at work, spiralled so much that after a visit to the GP about something he's been signed off work for 4 weeks (couldn't have picked a worse time with all the kids off for the holidays) and is on anti-depressants, He's also had to be reffered for mental health help and occupational health... not been good, almost feel like im looking after 4 kids... DH is normally so good around the house, and a pretty cheery fella... he's not wanting to get out of bed, not wanting to leave the house, always really grumpy with the kids- It's getting me down just as much, he doesn't even want to be close to me so i'm feeling rejected too... it's not nice at all- i know he's ill but it's so bloody hard for me!!

Anyhow sorry for the me,me,me post after not posting for days again...

best get off and do more housework now he's finally dragged himself out of bed (after i've been up 4 hrs with the kids!! grrrr!!)
