Hello,
Started a new thread ladies, fingers crossed it works xx

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
8rubberduckies · 30/03/2011 11:20

That's great news about your SIL Barbie. As a fellow old-timer I remember your worries about breaking the news to her from the first thread. How great for your baby to have cousins so close in age. My SIL is pg too and due in September, will be my two's first cousin, as my sisters and brother are a lot younger than me and I will kill them (in a nice, gentle, big sisterly way of course) if they have kids yet Grin Grin.

We also have hardly anything sorted for the baby yet. Her room is still being whitewashed and prepped for proper painting, and all our baby stuff is still in the attic, and the buggy is still in the shop. At least she has some cute outfits to wear, and a couple of crap slings to get around in Grin.

Jer79 · 30/03/2011 11:40

Is anyone else's baby transverse, or been that way? I just found out she's lying sideways now (28 weeks), and there's loads of time for her to move, but I also have a low-lying placenta which might be the reason for it, and she may stay that way.

I had a very sweet but ridiculously disorganised midwife session yesterday - no talk of birth options like Jasmine had, just lots of rushing from room to room in the practice and lost blood results. Like I say, a very sweet lady but my PCT is having a serious understaffing of midwives.

Also,if anyone is looking for good maternity trousers, I am just loving my ASOS/Mamalicious 'Elaine' trousers on sale from £35 to £17.They are insanely comfy, with a lovely bump panel that makes me feel so pregnant when I'm out. Why though are maternity trousers 8 feet long? Every pair I have (and I'm average height) has miles of leg!

nomoreheels · 30/03/2011 11:53

Plus it's free next day delivery today at Asos until 5 pm!

I got 2 dresses & some tights for £34. Been mega skint & worried but my mum is giving me some cash & DP had a bit of good news abot his freelanc work, so things are looking up. Sick to death of feeling frumpy & one of them will do for a wedding next month too, so I've allowed myself this treat.

Joannezipan · 30/03/2011 11:58

nomoreheels sounds like you deserve a treat then - and dresses are always a good way to go! I do mis my shoes though. There is no substitue for a good pair of heels (preferably red!)

crumbletastic · 30/03/2011 11:59

I'm so so knackered but got called into antenatal clinic for bloodtests this morning to check for anaemia. I hope I am becasue at least I should start to feel better with iron tablets, I couldn't bear to feel like this for another 11 weeks.

Also begin countdown, after today I hav e 10 more shifts at work and I can't wait, yay!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 30/03/2011 12:29

Barbie - that is great news about your SIL Smile

Jer - i bought a load of maternity trousers on Ebay but ended up selling some of them on as they were all far too long!

Leroy - sorry to hear about DS's Impertigo, is he fine in himself? Keep chasing up the MWs for those tests, you need them! I've also bought some bump bands from ebay, they are great!

Nomoreheels - I have lots of stretch marks on my tum. None on my boobs but they are very veiny. No leaks, but they didn't leak with DS either.

Crumble - poor you, hope you get the blood tests results quickly. Are you taking any pregnancy vit supplements atm?

NurseSunshine · 30/03/2011 12:57

Barbie congrats on all the imminent new arrivals in your family? How lovely that all the cousins will be so close in age :) My SIL is about 2 months pregnant, am quite pleased my baby's got a little cousin already!

Crumble sorry you're feeling so knackered. I hope it is easily remedied by iron tablets. You're not overdoing it at work are you? Easier said than done but try and wind down a bit, especially since you've only got a few more shifts :)

Vibrations so sorry you're in pain :( (((hugs))) and lots of Brew

Leroy and Kara what exactly does one do with a bump band?! Is it so you can wear your own tops without having belly on show?

Joanne OMG can't believe you found out so late! You must be tiny then? I was already looking decidiedly pregnant at about 17 weeks! What was the first sign? You sound like you've taken it all in OK anyway, I'd still be having periodic heartattacks I think!

sasamaxx · 30/03/2011 13:48

Jer79 thanks for the ASOS tip - how does the sizing come up?

Crumble I'm also hoping for anaemia so that the tiredness can be remedied. I have made an appt at surgery on Monday for blood tests - full blood count and iron stores. I really really hope that this is why I feel like this. Good luck - let us know how you get on.

Barbie that is such great news - fantastic Grin

Leroy how annoying about the impetigo - that's all you need just now Sad

I got a new sling today - it is absolutely beautiful. I tried it on with my almost 3 year old and it fits her not bad, so it's probably going to be a bit big for the new baby. That's no problem tho - no shortage of slings in this house lol.

Joannezipan · 30/03/2011 13:51

Nurse our friends have decided it is a ninja baby becuse it was hiding for 6 months. I did notice a bit of a change, but just assumed i'd put on weight at christmas and couldn't shift it. It has been making up for it since then though and now i look decidedly pregnant! We are both having periodic heart attacks, though luckly not at the same time. We have a terror/excitement ratio which gets updated every so often, currently it is 25%/75%.

I'm faring quite well on the streachmark front so far, i think the old ones from puberty are coming in handy!

sasamaxx · 30/03/2011 14:16

OK I've uploaded my bump photo attempt onto my profile.
I'm not going to leave it on long tho cos my face is visible so be quick.
This is the first attempt - I need to sort out the clothing and I'm going to tweak the lighting as well when I try again next time.

BarbieLovesKen · 30/03/2011 14:20

Oh my God, Sasamaxx that is absolutely stunning!!!!! I love it. You are gorgeous! - you kept that quiet Grin

8rubberduckies · 30/03/2011 14:31

Sasa lovely photo! Smile, what sling did you get?

NoToast · 30/03/2011 15:10

Uh-Oh....

DP bought me a bar of diabetic chocolate t'other day, the stuff has revolting laxative and gas effects so I've ignored it and left it in my cupboard.

We live with his mother who has alzheimers, one of the symptoms is uninhibitedness and she can be really greedy around junk food (and booze) when she can get her hands on them.

She's only sneaked into my cupboard, found the chocolate and eaten half of the (biggish) bar. Am really hoping she is ok and that she's less sensitive than I am but have to admit amongst the guilt am feeling a twinge of childish amusement.

sasamaxx · 30/03/2011 16:21

lol Barbie I bloody wish!
No it's just careful positioning and really really flattering lighting - there were loads of pics with me looking horrific - believe me Wink
Shadows are v good at hiding double chins too!

rubberduckies I got one of these Grin

LisasCat · 30/03/2011 16:25

I have been gone soooo long, and finally decided work can wait - I need to check in on my ante-natal club! Besides, I've got 10 1/2 weeks left......yes, 10 1/2 flippin' weeks. Feels like forever. I just want to start maternity leave now.

Anyway, had a quick scan through everyone's news. Nothing I can really offer any advice or thoughts on. Except jasmine you mentioned Cherry has a Baby which reminded me of when I met Cherry herself. It was about 4 weeks after watching the documentary the first time it was shown, and I wasn't told her name straight away (met her through her husband). I just kept staring at her thinking "where do I know you from". then of course it dawned on me....oh yes, I've seen her lady bits and watched her giving birth ON NATIONAL TV!!!!!!! It's very odd having that mental image in your head when you talk to someone you've only just met. However, the resulting baby, Coco, was with her, and about a year old by that time, and very, very cute, so I focused on her rather than her mum (whose lady bits I'd seen....did I mention that?).

So the advice here ladies is 'Do Not Give Birth On National TV' unless you plan to never ever meet anyone new ever again, or at least for the few weeks it takes for the mental image to be wiped from people's memories.

ConfessionsOfAnAchingFanjo · 30/03/2011 16:32

I've been hiding with a family sized lemon tart for the last few days. Problem is, as I was finishing it off about 10 minutes ago, I realised that actually I want a custard tart. Oh dear.

And this afternoon my Current Bun is playing on my bladder and trying to push my belly button out. I hope it stops before bed time because I'm REALLY tired..

I tried to post a few days ago, but had an epic fail so gave up. I do recall trying to say that I loved you bump pic NMHs.

And Hello to Joannezipan. Hope your terror/excitment ratio is swinging towards being more excited than scared as it all sinks in.

8rubberduckies · 30/03/2011 16:40

Sasamaxx I love it! Do you know if I can I get my Closer sling converted so I don't have to keep on grappling and wrestling with it wrapping and tying it all the time, even though it is stretchy jersey material?

Jer79 · 30/03/2011 17:33

Sasamaxx I'd get the size above your usual, the under bump bit can be tight.

sasamaxx · 30/03/2011 17:35

8rubberduckies she wouldn't be able to convert a closer as it's made of stretchy material, and it needs to be a woven sling for this type of thing. You can pick up some woven slings brand new for about £50 though Smile

sasamaxx · 30/03/2011 17:51

Thanks Jer79

NurseSunshine · 30/03/2011 17:58

Joanne I've known since I was 4 weeks and my terror:excitement ratio is around 15:85 so I think you're doing very well!

Sasamaxx and nomore you look lovely :) Wish I had a talented friend to take pics of me. My mum took one on my v un-posh camera and I look AWFUL!

This is very funny

jasmine51 · 30/03/2011 18:03

Notoast thats hilarious (in a mean kind of way) - any 'movement' yet?
Lisa oo, I think I'd react the same way as you...can you imagine how her work colleagues feel...makes me feel quite queasy...I'm even a bit weird about appearing in my clients offices with my bump...feels too 'personal' to be sharing with work people. Perhaps I should go into confinement to save peoples sensibilities.
Jer to be honest my midwife is a bit like yours, totally out of sorts all the time and losing my wee samples (dread to think where those end up), it was the JR consultant who was talking to me about options.

Totally knackered today - had an epic hypno session with one of my clients who really didnt know how to laugh...and it took a looooong session to get a giggle out of her but I beat her into submission eventually Grin. Perhaps I should have told her about Notoasts MIL. I celebrated by taking my Asda vouchers into the baby aisle and bought some bottles and some pointless but cute toys.

I've got bump photo envy...I want one! Might have to ask my local studio whether they could do it for me...soft focus and clever lighting essential. Cant afford it and bub might have to go without nappies for a while but it would be a lovely momento of me in my 'elephant era'.

AlmightyCitrus · 30/03/2011 19:40

Brilliant photo sasa

I'm shattered today. I seem to sleep well one night, then not at all the next, and last night was a not at all night.

I've blundered round tesco today in a total daze. Lucky DH was with me or I don't know what I'd of bought! Cake and crisps probably!

I've got one of those STUPID glucose tolerance tests tomorrow, which means massive inconvenience and added expense, and I know it'll be a waste of time. (grrr) I'm not allowed anything after 10pm tonight except water, so don't know how I'll even function in the morning without coffee. I have decided that if I'm not seen bang on time at the "health centre miles away, rather than the perfectly modern and useful one only a minute away from my house", then I'm off to the nearest cafe for a fry up.

DH says I get grouchy if I don't sleep. Don't see it myself

Grin
Thornykate · 30/03/2011 19:47

Loving the glamorous bump pics! I have taken a few to put on my babybump app but i don't quite look the same as you guys as mine are side profiles of me in my huge knickers & bra! Definitely for my eyes only unless I can work out how to crop them when posting from phone to here.

As I am 32 wks tomorrow I have started getting my hosp bag things together now & it is making it seem v real & imminent.

As I am a bit sling phobic ( always scared that they will fall out- daft, I know) I can't join in with the sling convo but i was wondering if anyone could recommend a swaddling blanket? Saw one in boots but wasn't keen on the pink...am actually starting to hate pink?! Not all pinks but the sickly baby pink that all girls stuff seems to be made in. Just don't think it will look good on little ones skin tone.

GoodVibrations · 30/03/2011 20:51

Barbie Great news on SIL, what a lovely time it will be with all the newborns around!

Jer my baby is lying sideways too, but head down somehow Confused. Bum & back on my left side, legs on my right side (ouch!). I look VERY wide!

nurse thanks for the hugs :) I do need them at the mo!
