My bed...my bed...its back!...its nearly 4pm and I might just have to go and test it out. So pleased to see it, no more rolling around on the floor trying to get up before I wet myself...no more hurty hips....full on starfishing space...pillows everywhere...ah, I've missed you old friend x

Oh and as if the day is not perfect enough...M&S sell giant mini eggs Confused...will investigate and post a review.

Giant mini eggs? What a delightful oxymoron Grin
Glad you got your bed back Jasmine, clearly not as glad as you are though!

Just had another driving lesson and mentioned wanting to pass test before baby comes. Driving instructor suggested I slow down somewhat over the speed bumps then Grin

KaraStarbuckThrace · 17/03/2011 16:48

Mmmmmmm mini eggs!

8rubberduckies · 17/03/2011 16:52

Mini eggs of the giant variety!!!! Wowzers!

Happy for you about the house Supersunny, hope you find somewhere nice to rent soon. We are lifetime long-term renters, and the nice places do exist out there; you just have to traipse around a few crappy ones before you find a goody. If you're going to be looking through an agency just make sure they know you are a family and want family-standard accomodation.

Clarkiee · 17/03/2011 18:09

The morgage company have rang our financial advisor to ask if I'm pregnant!!!! We had to submit bank statements when applying and there were transactions for Mama and Papas, Babyworld and Kiddiecare. God I hate bankers! I have to write note explaining that they are gifts for others. It could all fall through, fingers crossed they will believe us! Grrrrrrr Angry Angry I am well pissed off cross!

NurseSunshine · 17/03/2011 18:16

Why does it make a difference?

HalleLouja · 17/03/2011 18:36

That is awful - used to work for a mortgage company and never heard anything like that before.

A lot of people will get a mortgage based on two incomes knowing one of them will probably not go back to work (my friend did this) and some mortgage companies work on affordability so you will possibly have less income and will have extra costs such as childcare if you do go back.

They just want to make sure you can continue paying your mortgage.

HalleLouja · 17/03/2011 18:52

DH said that might be illegal and most mortgage companies wouldn't bother.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 17/03/2011 21:27

Clarkie Shock at your bankers, they have no right to ask you that!

mouffloncake · 17/03/2011 21:47

Can I just ask....
Due in 11wks. Finishing work in 8. DH didnt seem too impressed with this news & asked what I am planning on doing "hanging around the house" for 3 weeks.
Im on my feet all day & do a physical job which Im struggling with as it is. Working until 3 weeks before due date isnt too bad is is?!

Keep looking at out 4d scan, Im absolutely fascinated with it.

Had a shock back in Jan when my good frend was murdered by her bf. Her body as not long been released & the funeral is tomorrow. I have a wedding party booked in the salon for the whole of the day & feel pretty sad about missing Rosie's funeral altho I'd just end up in a state :/

BP Loved the list of man rules lol

neenewps We has squirrel problems & gave up in the end. We started also putting food out for squirrel & it helped a bit but then the squirrel stared knocking on the back door everytime it wanted feeding! We got to the stage where we were hand feeding it bt it still kept on at the bird food, gredy little thing!

Well done on all the house news, I wish we could move.

motherofsnortpigs · 17/03/2011 22:00

moufflon I think you need to do the rucksack thing on your DH. i.e. make him put one on over his tummy an then load it down with about 10kg of stuff and see if he feels like standing up all day.

NurseSunshine · 17/03/2011 22:06

So sorry about your friend moufflon. RE working, I'm 27 weeks and I honestly wouldn't cope with being on my feet all day now, never mind any further down the line, so I think you're a trooper for carrying on that long. MotherofSP is right as he clearly has no idea what it's like to carry this weight around all day long, even if you have a sedentary job.

mouffloncake · 17/03/2011 22:20

Thank you Motherof & NurseS Thats a good idea! I wonder if they will do that at the NCT classes?

I was starting to think maybe I was being lazy or should try & work closer to my due date.

Merlion · 18/03/2011 03:23

moufflon are you able to get any time to yourself today just to remember your friend - go for a walk by yourself or go somewhere you used to go together as you are not able to make the funeral? I'm sure you will be thinking of her lots anyway and unmnetty {{{hugs}}} to you. I don't think 3 weeks is long - I'd certainly be taking it if ML allowance wasn't so rubbish here. I don't think they have a clue sometimes. I know I was very tired at the end with DS and couldn't have coped standing up all day.

Clarkiee we're not all bad I promise! Am a little Shock about what they have asked you but in some ways it is also good to see that they are now taking lending a little more seriously and checking that people will be in a position to repay - maybe if they'd done it earlier we wouldn't be in the mess we are in now.

neenewps wasn't there a tv advert with a squirrel going through a similar type obstacle course? I'm probably showing my age but to the (old) Mission Impossible music. I think it was for beer or something like that.

Clarkiee · 18/03/2011 07:03

I know why they are asking me, it does make some sense because obviously I won't be earning as much and I know they are extra cautious at the moment. It's just irritating because we wouldn't get a morgage that we couldn't afford. I'm anxious that it won't go through on time now. I've had to write a statement saying that 'the payments to mamas and papas, kiddiecare and baby world are gifts for family'. How generous are we Wink!!!

Off to NCT sale tomorrow Smile

moufloncake I don't think that finishing three weeks before you are due is too early anyway- never mind the fact you have a physical job. Remind DH that only 5% of woman have their baby on their due date. You need to do what is right for you. I'm sure you will do some 'hanging around' but so you should you've got a busy time ahead Grin

Happy Red Nose Day everyone Biscuit

Thank you merlion I am thinking of Rosies family today. As I am back to back with clients 9.15-6pm, I sadly can't even nip out for half hour to myself but intend to go to the cemetry in my own time & do my thing when I can.
X

KaraStarbuckThrace · 18/03/2011 09:37

That is a good idea Moufflon, even if it is just a couple of minutes while you sit and have a cuppa, think on your friend.

That is a long day, for you though! Hope your DH will be in pamper mode when you get home - you deserve it. I second the rucksack idea for him!

Been feeling really run down this week, niggling headaches and tired. On Sunday we're going to see some friends down in Sheffield, little worried as one of the friends would love to have kids but I don't think she'll be able to as she had health problems that will make pregnancy and labour very difficult for her Sad So am going to try and not make a thing of mine.. but difficult as I am now 28+ 3 and huge!

NurseSunshine · 18/03/2011 10:05

Thinking of you today Moufflon

Oooh have fun in Sheffield Kara :) Hope the weather's nice for you, doesn't seem to be able to make it's mind up at the moment.

Clarkiee · 18/03/2011 10:26

Know how you feel kara my friend has been TTC for over 12 months. When we're together I only really talk about they babies when she brings it up (which she quite often does actually). Hope you start feeling better soon.

Take care of yourself moufflon shame you have to work all day but like kara said take it easy when you get home.

I'm back from my scan. Umbilical readings are no better and consultant is concerned that one is not getting enough nutrients. I've had to have a steroid injection in my bum (ouch Blush) and one tomorrow because if they come early then steroids will help develop the lungs. Very worried but also trying not to stress about it. DH has been great! But he keeps saying 'it'll be alright/you'll be alright' which I had to tell him (in a nice way) was a bit annoying.
I asked the nurse if injection would have any effects on me cause I was thinking about going back to work. She said no but why don't I take it easy and go back in after lunch. Was thinking along the same lines but it makes me feel better when a professional says it Grin.
Got to have two scans a week now. Not sure what I can do about work- any lawyers out there? I can go off sick without my maternity leave starting can't I (as long as it's before 36 weeks)? Will look into it. Just don't want to be working and go into labour the next day!

OP posts:
takethatlady · 18/03/2011 11:56

clarkiee sorry you're having a stressful time. Definitely take as much of the day off as you can, I say! Is your DH going with you? If so, I'd go for a sneaky lunch before going back to work Wink. Or even if I was going on my own, I'd probably do that. I hope your LOs are fine and that the steroids do their job.

moufflon everyone's thinking of you. So sorry you have to work.

On the leaving 3 weeks before mat leave thing - I was planning to work until the week before the birth until I got Shock faces from everybody I told! My job isn't particularly physical though I do have to commute for over an hour, so I don't particularly want to go into labour at work - but even so, I have booked 3 weeks' holiday before ML starts, so I'll be off for a month before the baby is born. I thought this was normal! Grin

8rubberduckies · 18/03/2011 12:02

Clarkiee I am no lawyer, but I do know that all you need is to get signed off by a medical professional and you can be off work from whenever they say - maternity leave will then kick in automatically 4 weeks before your due date if you have not retunred to work. Any sick time you take due to ill health in pregnancy will not be "held against you" either. Your situation sounds stressful, take care of yourself, even if you just take a few days off Smile.

Moufflon I am also thinking of you today and hope you manage to get some quiet time to remember your friend.

I was just talking last night with a friend about how even the best-intentioned DPs seem to forget how hard it is being pregnant - I think the rucksack idea is a great one in your situation. I also think you are a hero carrying on doing an on-your-feet job until 3 weeks before your due date. I carried on at work during 1st pregnancy until 36 weeks, doing a pretty sedentary job, and wish I hadn't now! planning on finishing 6 weeks before due date this time around, so tell your DP that you're actually working very, very late compared to a lot of other pregnant women.

NurseSunshine · 18/03/2011 13:06

Sorry to hear about the worrying news Clarkiee. I don't think anyone could possibly hold it against you if you got signed off early and I don't think any doctor/midwife would hesitate to give you a sick note. You and the babies are the most important thing right now, work can take a back seat!

79monica · 18/03/2011 13:06

kara - I can sympathise. I'm meeting up with some school friends this weekend. One has been TTC for 4.5 years and has been doing IVF for the past 18 months with no luck so far. Every time I hear from her or see her I hope that she's got the good news that she's waiting for. I'm not going to start any baby / pregnancy related conversations, I feel very conscious of how unfair life is when DH and I conceived in our 2nd month of trying but she is still trying to after so long.

I am at work in Sheffield at the moment and it is looking unusually sunny so fingers crossed it stays nice until Sunday for you! Smile

NurseSunshine · 18/03/2011 15:02

I've got heartburn :( First time, is this the beginning of the end?
