Congratulations Button - so exciting!

I got a maxi cosi carseat and isofix base from mothercare a couple of weeks ago as I got 10% off, however that's all I've got so far. My mum has offered to buy me a Bugaboo Bee which is lovely of her - she's very excited about her first grandchild, and it being a boy is the icing on the cake - I'm one of 4 girls!

Is anyone else finding that time is going really quickly - I can't believe I'm nearly 24 weeks, it feels like only a month ago since finding out that I was pregnant.

JimmyChoo17 · 17/03/2011 21:00

Spanner its going VERY fast!! I feel like I should be more organised and feeling like time is going to quick. Im normally very organised about things but finding Im slightly in denial about this!

Have been putting off the pram and car seat hunt...I have a clio with tiny boot space and its 3 door so need to get a small pram for boot and isofix for back seat...Are you clipping your maxi cosi into a pram frame or using a pram system only whilst on the move?

Am hoping that local mothercare and babies r us are going to be helpful when we "test drive" some!

nicolamumof3 · 17/03/2011 21:46

spanner i have a bee plus sat in the box upstairs its lovely! Cannot wait to use it. I really like the blue on it too for a boy.

jimmychoo, you should look at the bee if you are short on space as its a good compact fold, but still lovely to have as a rear facer. Carseat should only be used for really short periods for newborns.

Im hoping to get a carrycot to use on my micralite too, as i love a proper carrycot, especially if its a hot summer (wishful thinking!!)

im feeling really sick..still! Can't believe it im nearly 23w this is horrible bit.

had docs today they are referring me for support belt for spd, so thats something. Have midwife in a fortnight then GTT in four weeks i should think. Fingers crossed thats ok.

cara2244 · 17/03/2011 22:58

Hi all. Just had a scan thru the posts. Was in bed asleep at 8.30 last night!! FElt great today.
Hello to the new people and congrats buttonmoon.

inbetweener · 18/03/2011 09:43

Morning all,
Congrats button on your perfectly balanced family xx How lovely.
nicola I have a bugaboo bee in black currently sitting in MIL's spare room. Cant WAIT to use it Grin
Well im home from work today. I spent ALL day yesterday at the fanjo clinic getting swabs and whatnot for my burning symptoms and it turns out I have a case of thrush Sad. The doctor gave me the vaginal tablet and told me to insert it with my fingers but I am scared. I have this silly idea in my head it will fizz away up there and hurt my boy Blush. I have been googling ( i know Blush )and some people say it can cause your waters to break and bring labour on and im all scared and confused now. Meanwhile ive still got a bloody burning fanjo that is driving me mad !! I phoned the MW's again this morning to double check and she said of course I can use it, hundreds of women do !

have any of you treated thrush in pg ???? HELP !!!!

buttonmoon78 · 18/03/2011 10:11

I have inbetweener. Not this one but lots in others. It was fine every time!

Seems there's a lot of Bees out there to be used in July!

inbetweener · 18/03/2011 10:32

Thank you x Will do it in a bit thenSmile

nicolamumof3 · 18/03/2011 12:33

i think i have too inbetweener, and it was fine. horrible thing to have at anytime but worst when pg.

tbh i think i used to suffer with it during pg but not this time, strange maybe having a girl is different? Shock

I have felt terribly sick since last night feel awful today and splitting head too.

buttonmoon78 · 18/03/2011 13:19

Poor you nicola.

I'm really struggling at work today. Normally I find this chair quite comfortable but today not. And I'm so sleepy! I've got the window open and the fan on to try and wake me up but all I want to do is put my head on my desk and sleep.

inbetweener · 18/03/2011 14:07

have inserted the bloody tablet.....

Am now paranoid beyond all belief !!

buttonmoon78 · 18/03/2011 14:36

You'll be fine, I'm sure! Paranoia comes with the territory though!

Mitchell81 · 18/03/2011 15:56

Sorry about the thrush. It's Horrible luckily haven't had it this pregnancy. Hope it clears up quickly.

fallingandlaughing · 18/03/2011 21:11

I used the thrush pessary a few weeks ago (got it from my obstetrician).

You will be fine.

Fraochsmum · 20/03/2011 09:52

Hope the pessary has done its job inbetweener and you are feeling a bit more relaxed now.
DH and I are going for a last minute holiday the 2nd weekend in April, but we haven't booked anything yet. Does anyone have any suggestions of somewhere that will be warm at that time, but not too long a flight? Any suggestions would be welcome Smile

HighFibreDiet · 20/03/2011 13:08

Hi everyone, haven't been on here for ages so haven't yet read all the messages on the new thread. Feeling lots of kicks but low down so could be breech at the mo: might have to do lots of hands and knees exercises to rock baby round although, although of course there's loads of time for them to turn and plus I have an anterior placenta as well so maybe I'm just not feeling the higher up movements.

Went to see a physio last week who specialises in antenatal work especially spd. She was so much better than the ones I saw in last pregnancy and actually did a lot of manipulation work and moved my pelvis around a bit so it became more symmetrical. I was surprised how much it had gone out of alignment. Gave me lots of exercises to do at home (including stretches where the pelvis is supported), warned me off antenatal yoga classes, but said swimming and cycling would be fine though so I am on ebay trying to find a bike. (I had to get rid of both my bikes before we moved as Australian customs are so strict and I didn't want to end up paying thousands to have them cleaned.)

I haven't had thrush so far this time but had recurring problems last time and I think the pessaries are definitely worth it for clearing up the infection. The creams can only do so much. Don't worry so much about it, inbetweener! People tell you to avoid so many things in pregnancy but with most conditions it's far better to have it treated. I even read something that said I shouldn't be eating alfalfa or parsley ffs. (Apparently both of them contain something that can trigger uterine contractions - but then I looked into it and that's if you're having concentrated amounts of the stuff.)

Splashed out on some new maternity trousers and a maternity swimsuit that cost more than I expected but hopefully I'll get lots of use out of them both. I wish I hadn't given away all of my maternity stuff after ds3! I am feeling a bit frumpy at the moment (and so many of the mums in Sydney are in such good shape and look effortlesly stylish) so I would love some smart maternity tops but I don't know what the good brands are over here. Must trawl ebay for those too.

In terms of baby stuff I really haven't started to stock up. A friend gave me a suitcase of her old baby things but I haven't checked what is in there. And even having had 3 vaginal deliveries and plenty of pelvic floor problems I am not stocking up on Tena Lady! Maternity pads are important though. You may be surprised how much lochia there is.

Finally, hello and welcome to sarahmia. Which bit of London are you in?

sues1974 · 20/03/2011 19:58

Hi Ladies, ive just had a massive catch up on the thread. Welcome new ladies.
Im in north yorkshire, the only one by the looks of it.
Im starting to worry about how much weight ive put on, its just gone up to 18 pounds now. i think i put on just over 2 stone last time, but in the last month didnt put any extra on as could only eat small meals. im only 5ft4 and am apple shaped with quite long legs and a short body (imagine an apple on 2 straws)so bump is pretty big now.
I went to a car boot sale this morning and was looking at a baby stall and the owner was asking me and another woman when we were due. she was 3 weeks away from having twins and not much bigger than me!Shock so felt very embarrassed to be saying i was only 23 weeks. id already said i was having a boy so the lady said oo youve got a big boy in there then.
ha ha just been reading thru the bounty book that comes with the packs from hospital, "week 27 - around now you may need to move into maternity clothes" who are they kidding, mine were on in week 10 lol.
suz xx

confuddledDOTcom · 20/03/2011 22:19

Hi ladies I need to catch up but just thought I'd let you know I'm on my way to triage as things are happening pretty regular at the moment will update later.

Labour hormone test was negative but being kept in 24 hours because of history. No spare beds though! Was sleeping in exam room but got kicked out now in waiting room.

OH has gone home as he needs to do school run, the youngest has croup and he has to tell work he's not going in.

OP posts:
SpannerPants · 21/03/2011 08:11

Blimey confuddled - sounds like you have your hands full there! Hope you can get home as soon as possible and that your youngest picks up soon.

buttonmoon78 · 21/03/2011 10:02

Hope things settle soon Confuddled. Thinking of you. At least your OH is around again now!

Scottygirl10 · 21/03/2011 10:10

Aww thinking of you confuddled. I'm on hoping that someone can give me a slap across the face (wet fish optional). Not feeling AS strong movements over the weekend. Getting an odd kick here and there, but reduced activity enough to have me wondering about it. Google...I know I know...seems to have a lovely theory about this being perfectly normal but then my books contradict this by saying between 24 and 28 week is when most activity takes place? i'm 25 weeks. Like I said, just needing a slap! Hope everyone's well x

confuddledDOTcom · 21/03/2011 10:11

It's settled down so they're keeping an eye on me today to make sure nothing changes.

OH has just popped down to the shop with the smallest Dot who is still quite hot and really quiet. If I get out today he's going back to work tonight but I think this has been a wake up call that he realises he needs to speak to them about coming home.

OP posts:
buttonmoon78 · 21/03/2011 10:18

Good. Sometimes it takes a bit of a shake up for men to sort themselves out!

Consider yourself slapped Scotty. Why don't you just ring your MW though? She'll probably be able to slot you in for a quick listen so you know everything's ok.

All good here. Been busy all weekend but spent yesterday by the seaside so that was nice in the sunshine. Have left DH at home today on rainwatch as I've got clothes on the line. Who fancies betting they'll be sat there dripping wet when I get home from work?!

Out for tea tonight as it's ds's 4th birthday tomorrow. Gave him the option of where to choose... It's 'backDonalds' for tea tonight then Hmm

I tried to steer him towards pizza or something but he was having none of it!

Eglu · 21/03/2011 10:27

Morning all. Not been on for a few days, been feeling really tired.

We did a lot this weekend so am feeling rather exhausted today, but lots to do and very sunny so want to make the most of it. I currently have my sofa covers in the washing machine so they can go on the line.

The sun definitely improves my mood. I just wish my energy matched what my head wants to do.

I've started leaking colostrum now. Only at night though, and hopefully it will stay that way.

highheelsandequations · 21/03/2011 10:31

confuddled hope things stay settled for you.

scotty I keep having days when I'm sure pip isn't moving as much, had a quick listen on my doppler on Saturday as I was starting to panic and heartbeat was still nice and strong, and moving about! Think they're still able to turn into positions where we can't feel them as much at this stage, that's my theory anyway.

I'm feeling rubbish today. Head full of cotton wool, throat agony and talking seems to send me into mental coughing fits. Phoned in sick to work and although I ended up crawling through to the kitchen for a glass of water earlier I still feel guilty for being off.

Hope everyone alse is okay.
