Want2bSupermum · 18/05/2011 22:54

button hahaha I wish I could take time off. I will have 19 days of PDO (personal days off) which includes all days for vacation, sick etc when I go on leave. After you use these days up you are not paid for your time off and it goes against you in your annual review if you have a negative balance during the year due to taking vacation. As my MIL is insisting we go to Denmark for Christmas I am going to lose 9 of my PDO days. I don't want to go below 10 days because our baby will be in daycare. If they are sick I will need those days as the child can't go back into daycare until they are signed off as healthy by their doctor. I don't accumulate any benefits while I am on leave.

I am so frustrated with my MIL. She doesn't get that we don't live in Denmark where mothers get all sorts of extras (such as up to a year off fully paid). She thinks I am putting my career ahead of her grandchild but this is not the case. I am taking 4+ weeks unpaid leave plus I am taking a huge risk of taking this time as just this week 5 people have been laid off from my department and they are not finished with the layoffs. I found out last week that I am the first person from my office that they have allowed to take extra time off. I had to put my case forward to the partners and I am putting my whole career at risk by taking it. There are 30+ people dying to do my job.

Twit I wish I was going into Manhattan for baby classes! I went in for a training session on being a mentor and a happy clappy hostilic approaches to managing an audit efficiently' seminar. It was so dull but I have to get my 40 hours of cont. education before year end. If I don't get it all done then I have to do it during my maternity leave as I am back for two weeks or so before we head to Denmark. After we get back I am out at clients from Dec 27th through Jan 7th.

After the week that I have had I can't wait for my babyshower. I am also getting my hair done on Saturday. I have not had it cut since Feb!

confuddledDOTcom · 19/05/2011 00:55

Had a bath about 11pm, must have been in for over an hour although it didn't feel like it! Tightenings dropped to 15-20 minutes whilst I was in and don't seem to have picked up again. Hopefully I'll get some sleep now.

OH has gone downstairs to go to bed (he's been downstairs since the bed broke because he's worried about our combined weight in it) and left me with the paper to keep track.

Hope things stayed settled Confuddled and didn't get started again! I remember when we first all got on this thread and you were telling us about your predicted progress (ie early delivery). It seemed so long ago, now here we are, expecting every absence to end in 'news'. I hope we don't get any 'news' for a good while yet...

Want2b it's such a hard balancing act isn't it. You need to take care of yourself but equally you need your days off for afterwards. Makes me think how lucky I am to live in the UK really. Even though I gripe!

JimmyChoo17 · 19/05/2011 09:24

Hello ladies! Not had chance to catch up with everyones posts properly so apologies if I?ve missed things.

I am not doing too bad to be honest [touches wood rather sharpish]

don?t seem to have had any BH of late...I did have a night of morning sickness on friday though...

I am getting a lot more baby movement than I have for weeks when I thought it was supposed to decrease... and presuming baby is legs and arms to my belly rather than back at the moment! I love feeling the movements but have to admit...some are really quite uncomfortable and a little painful! Am guessing bubs will have daddy?s bone structure as anything taking after me would have plenty of padding on those legs ha ha! Is that normal though? Am fairly sure something is trying to burrow out my fanjo and launch out of my rib cage at the same time (signourney waver style!).

Those of you that are experienced at this.....as this is my first and I dont know the gender I have literally bought just a few bits for clothing and bedding..namely...
7 baby vests
7 baby gro's
Mittens/hat/1 x booty
1 x cellular blanket
1 x fleece
1 x wool blanket (Think thats more for a pram tho)
Moses sheets
million muslins...will these see me through ok? To be honest if I needed more bits MIL would be more than obliging but wondering am I being realistic? I have all the changing stuff nappies etc I have just tried not to buy too much clothing just enough to get us started in good old white or cream! Ive also bought clothes in size newborn which have just noticed are up to 9lbs rather than up to 12lbs....I'd hope not to be bigger than that!! Most of its Asdas and they are happy for me to swap for bigger items if needed as long as tags are on.

bought chocolate stock too.. ate it though. Grin

I did an NCT session last week and can say I am very happy with my decision not to book the full ££ course! Sadly lived up to its stereotype which is a shame. Can see why some people don?t return. My friend took my place on the course I declined and she HATES it. Its such a gamble as to whether you get a good group or instructor?.

Am going to some of the other NCT sessions as can see past all that and am doing it for information and to find out others experiences with the local NHS care. They were very competitive with each other about who had the biggest house, most green lifestyle etc and very condescending towards me! (I was the youngest at 29 not sure if it was my age that triggered it but was a factor) Anyway they made assumptions about me as soon as I walked thru the door and "someone of my age wouldn?t have a property other than council" ....I have a very good sized (mortgaged) house bigger than theirs it turns out actually but I would never have thought to have brought it up in conversation like they did! Was all very odd. One of the group who actually lives near me went out of her way to follow me home ? she tried to dodge me but got stuck behind next door so I gave her a good old wave as I put the key in my door!

buttonmoon78 · 19/05/2011 10:07

Have you been told which way up your baby is Jimmy? I only ask as that's how I'm feeling and I know mine is currently breech.

The burrowing out of your fanjo is prob the feet and the ribs things? With me it's shoulder and head on one side and arms and hands on the other. Baby likes sitting against my right hand side, so that side of my bump is always hard, the left hand side is softer but with regular hand pokes. I can actually feel the difference if I put my arms by my sides - the right hand side makes my arm stick out a tiny bit more!

Sounds like you've met a bunch of oddos there! I must admit, when we had dc1, I was a lot younger than you so felt even more that I was the odd one out with my antenatal group. Had a good chuckle at you waving!

Twit · 19/05/2011 10:43

Oh, sorry. Not so glam then. Grin I have heard that it is up to the company as to how much they allow you to take off over there, is that right? For all the family friendly attitude we hear about, they don't seem too family friendlySad
I hope you sort it all out and that your MIL gets the message in the end, would she take note of your DH?
Jimmy I was 22 when I went to my only baby class (and I looked younger and had a tiny bump). I went with DH we were either ignored by all the others, or patronised by them.
It turned out I was the only one wanting as natural a birth as possible (got eye rolled and smirked at for that) and was the only one only considering BF. ANd washable nappies. This was 12 years ago.
We stayed for one 1/2 session and just felt our way through the rest of it.

If I were you I'd get more vests and sleepsuits, I think I have about 12 of each now (although I didn't start out with that many) as newborns are often a bit sick after feeding and the poo is runny so nappies can leak all up the back of them Shock It means less frequent trips to the washing machine (good) but also that you've always (in theory at least) got some thing to put LO in.
Also I've got lots of cotton sheet (the soft brushed cotton ones I think) partly for the same reason and partly so I can layer up if I need to or not (as it's going to be July etc)
How many nappies have you got? I look at it as on average 1 change every 2 hours, obviously sometimes its more or less frequent.
And one other thing I'm getting is vaseline to put straight on BabyTwit's bum along with the first nappies (lots of it too) so that the first few sticky poos don't weld themselves to him. (I also find it helps protect my sore bits when I wee 'cos its a barrier innit)

Am glad things look like they have slowed down again confuddled here's hoping they stay that way for a bit longer eh?

inbetweener · 19/05/2011 11:15

Wow you lot are organised ! I dont think I have enough clothes to be honest. I have about 12 white baby gros and 15 white vests ( all third hand as they have done both my girls ) apart from that I only have a handful of blue boy bits as Im still not convinced Hmm

Well Im 31 weeks today !! 5 weeks left to go at work and I cant wait !! have I mentioned that lol!

had a lovely evening to myself wallowing about in an hour long bath and then on the sofa watching crap t.v. I then had the bed to myself and could I sleep ?? ER NO !! I have given up trying to get comfy. I roll on my sleep in my back and wait up ready to pass out or vomit !! Its driving me mad ! I have tried propping myself up with pillows and putting pilows between my knees to stop the hip pain but that doesnt work either. Ah well, the lack of sleep is clearly good practice for me after neary 7 years of undisturbed nights....GULP !!!

I feel decidely frumpy today too. There are some very young glamourous girls in this office who wear some lovely clothes and me age 37, fat, frumpy and on my third pregnancy is feeling very Sad today. Ah well, 5 weeks till i can live in jogging bottoms or maxi dresses if the heatwave comes lol !

Fab123 · 19/05/2011 11:37

Great advice Twit re: Vaseline. I got a giant tub in Poundland the other week (on that voucher/bargain shop I did) and was thinking it may take me a millennia to use it. I shall pop it into ye olde Hospital bagge.
I nearly forgot to buy a sheet for the new moses basket mattress - only crossed my mind yesterday so got 2 on eBay for a few quid cheaper than Amazon. Now wondering if I should be getting a protective cover for the mattress too...I have one for the cot bed but not the basket?

Jimmy I hate it when people do that. I was really lucky with my course as it was only us and another couple as she had a few cancellations at the last min! My road is similar; constantly have neighbours visibly staring at me through windows to see what I'm up to. Once, when I first moved in, the postie was redirected to my house with a letter with a hand written "try No 17" on it from a neighbour and when I opened said letter, which had already been opened, it was from Balliffs! I went nuts at the postie (I know it wasn't his fault really) and said that in future he should only deliver post that has been sent directly to me, not all of the junk mail the neighbours don't want. Honestly though, how rude to assume that just because I'm under 30 I must have debt? Needless to say I don't bother with my neighbours much (they are mostly over 50 anyway). Oh and I had a double glazing firm knock on the door and ask if "mummy or daddy" was home! When I said no, he said "Oh, sorry, who's your landlord?" I nearly knocked him out. People just don't think.

JimmyChoo17 · 19/05/2011 12:06

[...gets list out adds vaseline, more washing powder, sheets] I have a fair few packs of nappies enough for about 2 weeks of new born.

Ooo so maybe im under on baby gear - will get myself down matalan or asdas - they have some right bargains! Its all neutral stuff but in theory I can hold on to them for when I put myself thru this again...cant believe I just said that!

Button by CMW always tells me baby is head down I keep looking at those cross section type photos and trying to work out what could be where and that spinningbabies website....to be honest I feel lke baby is slightly transverse with butt under ribs, missing a head and about 10 pairs of arms and legs. I get more ripples than pokes and kicks in my belly but all my jerks tend to be in the same area in the lower left quarter with either knee or foot pushing out on left for most of the time...after looking on our fbook group pics at the 3d scans I'm wondering if feet and arms are in the same area. Makes me want to get another scan (Must resist!) If I use the doppler too the heartbeat is at its strongest low down, none of it makes sense with my movements must be a gymnast in there!

Twit · 19/05/2011 12:31

WHy not try ebay or charity shops (i know not very glam) 'cos they don't stay in them for very long and if its only going to get puked or shat on....
alhtough I suppose if you might have more then get the best quality you can (i quite like Next).
I've still got to get DH to go in the loft to find out if we have the micrpowave sterilser and breast pump. I'm in no hurry for BabyTwit to come yet but if I woke up tomorrow and it was late June -5th July I'd be a very happy bunny.

JimmyChoo17 · 19/05/2011 13:08

Do you know what I did have a nose around charity shops but there was hardly anything for kids or maternity wear where I live! All the clothes I've got have been dirt cheap anyway so as its first have opted to buy new for newborn - my babygros were 7 for £5 which thought was good, my vests were even cheaper. Me and Next arent talking after a fake account was opened and they insisted I paid their bills because the "Fake me" had the same personal details as me....erm...isnt that what what fraud is supposed to be like? So wont use them out of principle!! Have been lucky with other big costs items like vidoe monitors, breast pumps and gear etc as being loaned them - and a bumbo! Silly expense for a rubber seat I think. 2nd hand or loaned Materniy wear has been the best part tho! I have spent a grand total of £30 on clothes since being pregnant and thats on larger leggings and 1 wedding outfit.

Cant wait to find out what this little one is though and inject some colour into baby's room.

Ooo and Fab I dont mind my nosy neighbours...they keep an eye out ha ha! So much so we really should do neighbourhood watch. The old girl 2 doors down leapt out of her house when we brought home the travel system etc. She remembered every snippet of info she gleaned from us over 3 years ago when we moved in....remarkable! Mind you she insists on popping her head out if I return home now with anything other than food shopping.

The women on my session last week were just really not my cup of tea (I dont think they were each others either!) but I think the comments and judging was really spiteful. There was a nice lady from NCT but she wasnt allowed to speak by the other NCT lady who was really forceful with her view point which was a shame. She does all the local sessions so I will get more of this soon. I wont get bullied out of going which you almost feel they are trying to do as can pick up some useful info. They did think I was younger than I am but I still dont think that gave them the right to judge me like they did. Its horrid that people do that and can imagine what they were like with you! They acted like they were above others but really end up coming across completely opposite.

Starting Aqua Natal next week so hopefully that will be more of a pleasant experience. Dreading the swimsuit look now tho.

confuddledDOTcom · 19/05/2011 14:51

After my bath they dropped to hourly. I think this is bit of a sign though that it won't be long as they're really picking up now. Going by size next week looks about target. (NEXT WEEK???) Which will be 33 weeks, not too bad I guess, I'm seeing an anaethatist on Monday to discuss whether an epidural is a viable option if I have to have a section, it will speed things up in the case of a crash (which is likely to be the reason I have a section) if they know they can or can't do it and if they can if they need to take any precaustions, so I'd like to get past that. I have a scan and antenatal on Friday next week but I'm not as worried at getting to that now, although we are going to finalise the birth plan as the consultant wants us to go away and think about what was said.

Been getting more during the day today than I'm used to, it's normally a couple of hours at night. My back is feeling it too, I'm not being active though which will be different during the real thing.

JimmyChoo, sounds like you have all the basics you need, when you know what you're having people will buy the baby outfits and more specific things, but for the first few weeks you don't need much and baby'll grow out of them quickly. Asda babies/ children clothes tend to come up small but you should be OK to get the basics in NB. If you can feel movement both ends baby is almost definitely breech! I mostly get it in the middle and I know from scans that she's head down.

JimmyChoo17 · 19/05/2011 15:10

Eeeeek best get myself on that birth ball and on my left! I can't stay on my left hand side I sleep mostly on my right or back, which makes me sick but can't seem to stop it...even sleeping in my nest of pillows can't stop me!

Ho hum. Just turned up to a midwife appointment that I didn't actually have.

Whoops.

Want2bSupermum · 19/05/2011 15:11

Twit & Button It is my MIL who is causing a lot of the problems. She called DH at work yesterday and asked him why he hadn't booked flights yet. When I got home he told me we had to book flights. I told him we didn't HAVE to do anything and that I am at the point of re-evaluating if we should go to Denmark in December. Given the layoffs and time spent out of the office, taking 10 days off, two weeks after returning from 5 months of leave isn't exactly smart. I know I will have to work during this 'break' anyway.

Most employers here are very accommodating to working mothers. It seems that there is a power struggle going on between the partners and HR. Traditionally the partners have directed HR but since the company was bought out by a larger accounting firm HR have taken whatever power they can. It looks like I am caught in the middle of it. The head partner of my office spoke to me this morning and they are looking at paying some of the daycare costs too. With the numbers he was banding about I am looking at an increase of 15-20%. Kinda feeling the pressure already to perform.

Jimmy That sort of thing does not surprise me. I came accross that sort of attitude when I lived in England. My friend was 22 when she had her first baby. She was, and still is, happily married and living in a nice house in Holland Park. Most other mothers assumed the worst and treated her terribly. After she had the baby we would go for a walk in the park and bump into these women. I couldn't believe how awful they were to her. One or two of them followed her home and one women (who I would have thumped her but my friend is a better person than I) basically called her a gold digger. She made friends with mothers by doing classes at the local leisure center.

The other good news is that I have dropped! I had my obn appointment this morning and right now the head is engaged. I am 33 weeks along with my big scan next week. The obn did say that the baby could move back up but I am in denial about that happening.

scarthy1975 · 19/05/2011 19:51

Hi everyone, hope you are all ok and counting down the weeks?? confuddled could be days in your case - keep those legs closed!! lol My heartburn and bladder control is getting worse by the day. 6 weeks until I finish work and can't wait.

Had midwife appointment today and baby is now head down - 80% of me was really happy about this so that I can now go for the vbac but the other 20% thought 'that my guaranteed c section is now out of the window!!'

Just ordered myself a new electric breast pump off ebay - medula swing which is top rated on mumsnet and was a bargain! Also ordered some bottles and a bottle warmer - determined to make dh participate in some of the night feeds this time!

jimmy I just got my bumbo out of the loft ready for number 2. They are a great product and perfect for sitting baby in lots of different places. My mum thought it was a potty when she 1st saw it!

Got another scan on 31st May and looking forward to seeing how baby is growing etc.

buttonmoon78 · 19/05/2011 20:29

confuddled will be thinking of you!

scarthy everyone said that about the bumbo we borrowed too. Hoping to borrow sisIL's this time - it was sooo useful.

Jimmy MW's can be wrong about breech. That's why the majority of vaginal breech deliveries are only discovered at the last moment! However, there's still time to shift it if it is.

Fab when I had dd1 I was v v young and I can still remember this old lady in Boots commenting in a stage whisper about my age and lack of wedding ring (actually we were married but my fingers had swollen so couldn't wear a ring). I was so upset that someone had judged me (and found me wanting) I didn't know what to say. Thankfully, I didn't have to say anything - the cashier said it all Grin

I still find now that I get judged when out with dd1. Or when I mention her age. I was 19 when I had her, married (still am) and very happy if a little surprised! It never gets less frustrating though!

Fraochsmum · 19/05/2011 21:32

Thinking of you confuddled xxx
Wow I'm quite surprised at some of the comments you guys have received Angry Jeezo - I thought I lived in a small-minded place! There really is no excuse for that sort of behaviour and I'm quite annoyed for you. There was an 18-year old at my antenatal class in pg1, she had no judgements (that I was aware of) and we actually became very good friends, with only 24 hours between our DD's.
I had a good mw app today, monkey is now head-down and quite far down as far as she could tell. She mentioned how well I was looking (yipee!) and I must admit that I have been quite bouyed-up by recent comments of "how neat" I am - which I equate to meaning that my arse isn't the size of a cow Grin . Yet.
I finally have a meeting with the consultant on wednesday who will be able to tell me if I'm allowed to have monkey in my hometown. If not, I have to go to Glasgow, a 3-hour journey that I don't much fancy doing in labour, but if I have to go - when do I go up?? 1 week before due date? When I get a show/waters break? Aarghhh! I would like to do some research, but not quite sure where to start, does anyone have any suggestions? I retained placenta with DD (it adhered itself) and am interested in stats of it re-occurring, or even happening in the first place. My mum had the same with my older sis but was fine with me and wee sis, and my big sis had no probs with either delivery Hmm
That made me laugh jimmy! Did you actually go in to the app to be told you didn't have one, or realise before you got there? My friend who is due in october, was about to send an email inviting a group of farmers to a meeting, but had the forethought to proofread it - just as well, because she noticed she had told them to make sure they had washed their 'willies' before coming Grin

Confuddled Hoping for the best for you and babyConf.

Fraochsmum - That is so funny about washing willies before coming. I was updating an opinion for a financial and typed certified pubic accountant instead of public. Thank goodness it was spotted (not by me though...) before it went to the client. Spellcheck isn't always that great.

Hello all - am attempting a massive catch up and have the thread open on 2 pages simultaneously so I can write on one and read it on the other!

Want2b - very jealous of your baby shower! I'd love one but don't know anyone whos ever had one so don't think it would go down too well if I were to try and organise my own iyswim. I am getting lots of 2nd hand bits though which is nice and still have to go up in the loft and go through ds1&2's clothes. I realised yesterday that I have actually only bought 3 items of clothing so far!! Shock Will have to rectify this soon!!

ISitreally - I am using the same mattress I have used for all 3 of mine so by the time baby goes into it at 6 months ish it will be 11 years old! It has a wipe clean side to it though which is the upper side and is still as firm as it was new so don't really see point in buying a new one. Both my boys were only in it till they were 17 months so less than a year each and dd came out of it when she was 2 so hasn't had that much use. Had new monitor for last baby so, assuming I can find both plugs (only found 1 so far!) I shall be reusing that too.

Button - not been shown 'log roll' but not sure a pillow will help me, the thing I struggle most with at night is pain in my hips which is caused just by the weight of me lying on them without moving (I'd normally sleep in recovery position ish pose) and trying to move at all. I do try and get into bed in the way you said, I think, as I finding lifting my legs into bed a real struggle. Also always really struggle at MW appts with trying to get my legs up onto the bed things and have to lift legs up with my hands! And big sympathy with BH, I'm alos getting a lot and they are much more painful than I've ever had before. Its every evening without fail and sometimes at other times too. They woke me up several times Monday night which worried me a little but not done it since thank goodness. Yet another reason I'm thinking #4 was not such a good idea!!
The pain from the groin down the inside of the thighs is what I really struggle with and yes - different to what I think is my sciatica pain which I get from butt down! Its the inner thigh thing which makes lifting legs so incredibly difficult I find.

Christmas - don't know about the headache thing - hoping its better now Smile Re travelling - we have a holiday booked in South of France on 20th August so about 6 weeks after my due date. We'll be driving 2 hours to dover, travelling 2 hours on the ferry to Dunkirque and then driving for approx 8-9 hours to Dordogne!! I think its going to be absolute hell TBH but I think 2 weeks spent lying in the sun by the pool (completely private so I don't have to worry about all the extra baby weight!!) while the kids play, with the odd wander around a market, by a river or maybe exploring some caves will be absolutely worth every second of the drive! I have history of PND and really do think it will do me the world of good to get away for a couple of weeks and not have all the pressures of home/housework/bills/bored dc etc etc. I really can't wait, I love France!! Grin Sorry got a bit carried away with my own plans - does it show I'm excited?! Hmm Grin I think your situation will be quite different as a wedding is probably not so relaxing and its presumably only for a couple of days? The travelling might be quite tiring but I've always found by then that I'm pretty much back to normal other than the exhaustion from sleepless nights but that goes on for months and months (IME) and you tend to adapt and just get on with things as normal. But babies that age are actually quite easy to transport, particularly if BF, probably easier than past 6 months when they're more mobile and awake and can't be quite so easily shut up calmed by shoving a boob/dummy/bottle in their mouth!!

So sorry to hear everyone is struggling so much with work Sad Because I was signed off sick I had to start my mat leave at 29 weeks (Maternity allowance as am self employed), I'm disappointed that I'm losing 3 months of my time off with baby but so grateful for not having to try and work now, there is no way I could. And I do work as a CM so its not like I'm going to have to leave him at 6 months hes just going to have to share me! And I won't be able to 'sleep when the baby sleeps'!

hIGHFIBRE (oops) - sorry to hear about diabetes. Have you posted on main board? If so I hope you've had some good advice and reassurance. Also hope meeting went well this am.

Christmas - sorry to hear about the Bell's Palsy, I hope it clears up soon for you.

Misslolita - Sorry to hear about your MIL. I hope the 2nd scan shows things to have improved. My ds2 had a cyst on his brain at the 20 wk scan which was a soft marker for Edward's syndrome. I knew the chances of anything being wrong were very slim and really I had nothing to worry about but once they'd told me that (and they handled it all extremely badly) it really did hang over me untill we had another at 32 (I think) weeks that showed it to have gone completely. It was only when told it was all ok that I realised just how much it had affected me. Glad you're not having to wait long for another scan though and that all the other signs are good Smile

Confuddled - very glad that overall your meeting seemed to go so well for you with several positive outcomes Smile

"I know I wanted this baby, and I still do. I just want it to be over. Let this be written in stone:

There. Will. Never. Be. A. Number. Five. Got it?"

I am SOOO with you on this!! Also very glad you've managed to get the pain relief sorted.

Confuddled - Yes my PGP never went away completely (I do have other as yet undiagnosed health problems though) but it certainly was a lot better after giving birth but still quite a significasnt problem untill about 6 months when it became much more of an occassional thing. I really, really can't wait for it to start getting better though, it makes everything such hard work doesn't it?!

Fab - I never actually pumped but i did try 'nipple stimulation' when overdue with ds2. I found it did start contractions/BH but the minute I stopped so did they, it wasn't really getting me anywhere except sore nipples so I gave up!

Jimmy - NCT women sound awful - I cannot stand peole like that. I have only ever been to one antenatal meeting and that was 11 years ago!! Think I'll keep it that way!

Interesting confuddled - I was going to post and say how Asda normally comes up big for babies and children's clothes! Maybe they have downsized them a bit in the last few years!! I always used to find that the cheaper the clothes (Asda, Primark, Matalan etc) the bigger they were whereas the slightly more expensive clothes (Next, M&S etc) always seemed smaller. Confused

Just seen your latest post confuddled - Hope all goes well, whatever that 'all' is! Smile (and by that I mean going into labour or not, just read it back and thought hmm, that could be misconstrued!)

Fraochsmum - I had to read that a couple of times before I could think what willies was meant to be! And lol at your arse not being the size of a cow yet!! I have had lots of people tell me how big I am and continually getting 'can't have long yet' and then people being gobsmacked that I still have 6 weeks to go. But I did get one person at the weekend tell me I looked wonderful which was rather nice!

Eek just realised how huge this post is - think its a record even for me! Blush Going to put my own update in a speperate post so it doesn't look quite so bad!!

Pesha · 19/05/2011 23:51

Well had appt with consultant today (34 weeks exactly now!!). Blood pressure has gone down a bit which is reassuring. Baby still measuring 2 weeks ahead so have gone from measuring 29 weeks to 36 weeks in just 3 weeks Hmm and whereas last week the MW said the head was free and off to my right side so could explain him measuring big the consultant has now said he is 4/5 engaged so surely that should have made a difference?! I had +1 glucose last time and +2 this time so I'm wondering if that could be something to do with rapid growth but again consultant didn't seem concerned, although she did say if i have + again then I'll have to have GTT. Am getting very cross with medical peeps poking me quite so f'ing hard on my pubic bone when they do the measurements though - they know I have PGP/SPD so surley they know it must hurt me?? Angry

But I am quite excited at being 4/5 engaged! I know it doesn't really mean anything and he could easily pop out again but it makes me feel like all these BH are doing some good after all! I had a rather painful BH in supermarket the other day and had to stop and lean on a shelf and pant through it, dp and dc just ignored me and carried on arguing over choosing pizzas but I looked up after it had passed to see a lady watching me, she then came over to check I was ok and said she'd wanted to come but didn't want to interfere, bless her, nice to know someone cares!! Wink

Oh yes - all the talk of movements - mine are all over the place, top and bottom, left and right! He is mostly back to the right though so kicks more on the left but he does move about a bit. Has been head down according to all mws for weeks though. Button I can also see and feel a definite difference on my right and left side!

Trying to remember what else I was going to say...

Oh yes, when ds2 was born I forgot to take the little card thing off the cot and noone ever wrote in his red book or anywhere what his measuremenst at birth were but in hospital today the MW hada mass of notes with her so I got her to look it up in my notes from last pg! His length was 53.5 cm and his HC was 37.5cm which is pretty big I think isn't it?! I remeber him having a big head, it took a whole lot of very painful pushing to get him out!!

Right must stop now and go to bed! Will try to post again a bit sooner this time so its not quite so mammoth! DP signed off work atm with badly sprained ankle so not getting time to myselof to read and post like I normally do! We had an argument tonight though and he has stropped off upstairs to watch TV in bed so I'm making the most of it!! But maybe a bit too much as I've just seen its 10 to midnight, oops!!

Sorry about all typos in my posts Blush

Fraochsmum · 20/05/2011 11:12

Wowee pesha what a thread!! Where are you going in the Dordogne btw? I was a campsite rep near Sarlat for 6 months and just loved the region, it's so beautiful! Apart from the journey from hell, I hope you have an amazing time. Great news about your appointment too - I am hoping monkey will wait head-down for my consultant app on wed. Maybe you could make a 'big thing' about your PGP when they are measuring? I honestly couldn't help yelping when the consultant kept poking my belly button - in fact I screamed out this morning when DD botted me right in it while I was changing her nappy Sad
That does sound big right enough! DD was a tiddly 46cm and luckily had a nice little head too - fingers crossed for this one!
I also tried nipple stimulation, but got my DH to do it Grin think it's the only time I have heard him complain about rubbing my boobs! Well, he was at it for 2 hours. And my waters had gone so no sex at the end of it Grin Grin Speaking of yesterday when we were sharing some 'quality time' together I put a pillow under my backside to deal with the muscle pain, but as I lifted my leg I got the most unbelieveable cramp shooting up my calf! Can't say it was the most romantic moment ever...
Oh god want2b 'pubic' is one of those words though, I even had to re-read your post to see it! According to local legend our paper once had a headline talking about a 'Pubic Meeting'!
Right I'd better off and do some work because I'm only in this morning. We are heading to Perth this weekend (4 hours in a car to look forward to today...) for a motorshow tomorrow at a racecourse - and the weather forecast is absolutely horrendous!! Heavy showers all day and poss gale-force winds. Cannae wait Hmm
Good weekend all xxx
