Am I the first? I can't see another November thread.

Ok, my stats, I am 32, have 1 dd (2.1) and edd is 03/11/2011.

I had a mc at Christmas but feel ok about this pregnancy, though I only found out 3 days ago so I may get a bit more panicked as time passes.

Anyone else want to join me in a November baby thread?

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 15/03/2011 18:09

I don't really want to tell anyone at work, since I had the mc last time, I just wanted to leave it a couple more weeks, but I don't think I've got much choice. This lad isn't the only problem in my classes, the school takes on a lot of kids who have been expelled from other places in the area, and we have several on probation for various (some serious) offenses.

MrsAR you have made my day with your farting response. I actually thought I had written the wrong thing myself, and had to read back to check! 4 times a day is normal farting for me to, if not an underestimate...

Good luck with the scan Sibella, how did you manage to get an early one? I'm going to ask my doctor because of the mc, but I'm expecting him to say no.

laabama · 15/03/2011 18:39

Wow! A girl goes off line for 2 days and 7 new pages appear!
cep and loup, sorry to hear you're having a difficult time. Fx that it all works out well for you both.
Welcome to new people!
Can someone show me where the link to the stats thread is? Am being thick... Thanks!

Piplysmelie · 15/03/2011 19:36

Cep and Loup I do hope everthing turns out alright for you. I have been in your position a few times so understand a little what it it like. I am supprised you are not getting scans. My hospital will scan if you are bleeding, the most I have had to wait is 3 days.

Sending good wishes to you both.

TerrysNo2 · 15/03/2011 19:38

Laabama I've only been away a few hours and there are 2 new pages!!

cep so sorry you didn't get a scan, I am quite Shock tbh as when I was MC last time, at around 6 weeks I got a scan straight away. Whilst I think the NHS is fab for emergency care it does seem to be a postcode lottery for other things.

loup also keeping my FX for you!

Welcome truffkin lovely to have you here on the other side!!! Grin

MrsA I will allow you to blame PG brain on your typo, too too funny!! Grin

So, had my scan and I have a really real live tadpole in my tummy!!! Grin Grin Measuring 7.8mm and dated 6+5 (one day more than my calcs) and we saw a lovely little heartbeat. I have added the pic to my profile. Feeling very very happy and relieved!!

Piplysmelie · 15/03/2011 19:44

Welcome to all the newbies, nice to have you on the thread.

I have minimal sickness, which is supprising as I had very bad sickness with DD1 and DD2. (Saying it quietly with FX maybe its a boy this time!) However I am very tired, and move from lovely sunny mummy to grumpy old witch in 0 seconds. Hormones must be raging as I also have to fight back the tears. Normaly about being a grumpy old witch or and having nothing to wear. I was a size 8 before and have just ballooned around my tummy. I swear I have a bump (I think it may be a bump of salt and vinegar crisps though! Grin)

I sneaked some pregnancy trousers out of the loft the other day Winkas I got fed up being cut in half with my waistbands!

chipmonkey · 15/03/2011 20:22

Hello everyone and hello to the new ladies!

busyboysmum in answer to the question you asked me several pages agoGrin yes I am every bit as sick this pg. I know from past experience that it doesn't matter much what I eat but that an empty stomach is very bad.

We have St Patricks day coming up and ds2 is to be in our local parade and I really don't feel like going but suppose I mustSad Also his confirmation next week with a crowd of people coming over. I may have to tell my Mum and hope she takes pity on me and helps out!

Ds1 asked me today if I had morning sickness! I told him I had but to keep it to himself.

cep I am very surprised that they won't scan you and that the doctor was unhelpful. Horrible having to wait like that!Sad

LizzyMathsWhizzy · 15/03/2011 20:53

Sorry, didn't notice your post Truff, good to have another frolicker on here!

FX for cep and loup I hope everything is ok for both of you (as well as everyone else)

mashpot · 15/03/2011 21:06

Hello everyone,

I got a BFP on Friday and have spent most of the time since then reading your posts! Congratulations to all and fingers firmly crossed for Loup, Cep and any others having worries.

I am 31 and this is my first pregnancy so I might have lots of questions for the rest of you.

The first of which being- how long should I wait before making a doctors appointment? I think I am 3 weeks pregnant (don't know what the ? + ? numbers mean!), although the cb digi I did on Saturday said 3+ weeks then, but that can't be right.

Looking forward to keeping in touch with you all.

busyboysmum · 15/03/2011 21:20

Chipmonkey oh no, how much harder does that make things for you? Do you have parents on hand to help out? It must be really hard when you can't tell anyone how rotten you feel.

Hi Mashpot and welcome - I am going to see my midwife on Friday and am around 5 weeks I think, they just book you in on our first appointment and make arrangements for your 12 week scan. It may be different in your area, whereabouts are you?

Thinking of you cep and loup

rightontime · 15/03/2011 21:49

Hello and welcome new ladies. mashpot Clearblue digi will give you the weeks from conception and not from the 1st day of your last period as Dr's do. If your test says 3+ you are 5weeks+ With regards to the numbers others are writing, for exaple I will be 6+1 tomorrow. That is 6weeks and 1 day pregnant. My Drs appt is booked for thursday and I will be 6+3 Grin I tried to get an appointment for last week at around 5 weeks but they had nothing available.

If you have any concerns you can see your Dr earlier though.

Hope this helps.

cep · 16/03/2011 07:14

morning all

welcome mash congratulations

terrys yay on a great scan.

chip apparently the epu just won't scan before 7 weeks.

well i had watery red this morning, was a bit weird did wee wiped no blood, wiped again saw the red carried on wiping lighter watery red. needed the loo a bit later wiped no blood. dh thinks it's over already.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 16/03/2011 09:04

Welcome and huge congrats to the newbies. There is no rush to see your GP in my area but I am 5 weeks today and will get an appointment for Friday with my GP. We can only call in the morning to get an appt for that day but we do have an online system that lets you book appts online the night before.

Terrys great news about your scan. After your MC, you must be so relieved. Here's hoping for an uneventful 8 months!

Cep so sorry that things aren't looking good. Wish I could say more but there's nothing to say but I hope whatever happens, you come out OK.

Thanks for the comments re working and morning routine. Sadly, I can't give up work as I am the main earner in our house. DP works all the hours god sends but he owns his own business and it's early days yet - been going about 5 years - and it's at the stage where it'll be a good earner in a few years, provided he puts the hours in now.
So am in the difficult position that I have to work FT so we can pay mortgage, bills etc but I don't have anyone at home. To be fair to DP as he's self employed he can be flexible but he still has regular 7am out of the door starts and I too have early starts to London every so often.

I may have to think about a CM for both DCs, which is a shame as DD's nursery is absolutely amazing and she adores it and they are just brilliant. It's in the grounds of our local college, so is subsidised by the council so fees are not very high either. It's not the money TBH, can afford 2 places, more the timing of drop offs with 2 pre-schoolers.
Hey ho, well as I've got until August/Sept 2011 to sort it out, am not going to stress too much yet.

Have good days all.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 16/03/2011 09:24

Ooh and to Truffkin. Welcome!

pod3030 · 16/03/2011 10:28

morning all!
does anyone else seem to wake early? i feel much sharper than usual at the moment, got up at 5.30 am fresh and raring to go, went for a run and had to stop myself from cleaning the windows before work! mind you, i had to wear 2 sports bras and still they bounced hurtilly. i am making the most of this as i suspect it'll be short-lived!

rightontime · 16/03/2011 10:32

Waking early. God no! I am shattered. I am still able to get up when my alarm goes of at 6.30 but would stay in bed all day if I could.

MrsA have you thought about a nanny? I have no idea about the cost or ins and outs but if you are DP are working a lot than a nanny to help out might be a good idea. He/she could then do drop of to school/nursery when nec. Just a thought. Feel free to tell me to shut up.

laabama · 16/03/2011 10:39

Morning ladies! Hope everyone's ok today. I've got a day off work and don't really know what to do with myself. Well, have got plenty to do, just don't want to actually do any of it! :) Still, it gives me plenty of time to get neurotic about my sudden disappearance of any symptoms. Can someone who's done this before please tell me whether you ever stop worrying or is this it from here on in?!?? :)

Cep, sorry to hear about the pink this morning. Hope that it stops soon and all works out well. Please try to keep positive.

Welcome mash and congratulations!

Truffkin · 16/03/2011 10:53

Morning ladies, I can see I will need to be disciplined with checking in just to keep up!

Hi Mash and congratulations! I called my GP surgery yesterday (BFP last Thursday!) and they have booked me an appointment for next Tuesday when I will be 5+5 (this is 5 weeks and 5 days pregnant)

You can measure how many weeks pregnant you are from either the first day of your last period, or from the date of ovulation (if you know this). I am measuring based on ovulation as I was charting before getting my BFP and know that I ovulated early this month, so measuring from the first day of my period puts me out by a few days. I have heard that my GP might challenge this, but I'm 100% confident with my data so will discuss this when I see her next week.

It would be a good idea to call your GP surgery to ask what their policy is. As it's your first pergnancy, they may want to see you in person and all the advice I have seen / heard says to let them know as early as you can.

I was using Ferility Friend to chart my cycles pre-BFP and am now using their pregnancy tracker (I like the daily info tidbits!) so you might want to use that to understand your dates link here

I also appear to have developed a cold overnight, which is wonderful as I can't munch my way through a course of 'Benilyn day & night' like I usually would! Am trying to manage with orange juice, fruit and lots of nose blowing so far!

Finally (and apologies for such a long post!) is anyone using any iphone apps for pregnancy tracking? I'm a bit of an app fan and would like to get one, but there are so many I don't know where to start!

Hope everyone is well and enjoying being half way through the week already. Happy hump day people!

dirgeinvegas · 16/03/2011 11:06

Morning all!

Terrys fantastic news about your scan! I can't see the pic on your profile though - have you made it public?

Cep I am sorry to hear you have more pink. Any pain? Are you back at the hospital this week did you say?

Truffkin I use Pregnancy tracker too, I haven't found an app yet but I haven't really thought about that tbh.

If you think your GP will argue the date then just amend the date of your last period to give you the OV date you would get in a text book 28 day cycle. That's what I considered doing but I ov late so realised it was to my advantage to have them think I was a week further on that I really am. I told the sonographer that I have long cycles and she said the baby matches up to my dates more than my GP's.

I am 7+2 today. Feeling crap, struggling to eat. On the bright side, DH has managed to get the morning off work for the scan on Tuesday so am pleased he'll be there.

Does anyone know if I have a scan at 8 weeks and all is fine if that means I won't get a scan at 12 weeks?

OP posts:
mashpot · 16/03/2011 11:06

Thanks all for your help - so if I go from the first day of my last period I am actually 6 weeks tomorrow as I have quite a long cycle. I'm not totally sure when I ovulated- had actually just ordered opk sticks from Amazon to use this month which arrived just before I got BFP - I don't want to tempt fate by returning them! I will call doctors today and see when they want me to come in.

I feel quite symptomless other than the cramps I am still getting. Maybe eating a bit more too but then I always have a good appetite!

Cep - hope that's the end of your bleeding.

marthamay · 16/03/2011 11:07

Hello everyone, hope it's ok if I tentatively put in an appearance?!
Got my BFP today!!!! I'm only 14dpo though so very early days and not quite letting myself believe it yet. I think in a week or so if nothing has happened (AF) and tests are still + then I will start to tremble with excitement!!!!!

Line was faint but very clear and very there.
Have been feeling pretty queasy and light headed with some cramping.

I have one DS, 11 months who I am still BF so very happy that I was able to conceive #2. We've been trying since he was 8 months.

Anyway - can't wait to start reading this thread!

CONGRATULATIONS EVERYONE!!!!! Smile

rightontime · 16/03/2011 11:25

dirge the only problem with them thinking yoou are more pregnant would be if you go overdue. Well in my case anyway. I had a CS with DS1 and a VBAC WITH ds2. However I tend to go overdue. 13days with DS1 and 9 days with ds2 so if they thought i was 2weeks over due they would not induce me but give me a CS as induction can cause rupture of the wound. For this reason I would rather they thought I was less pregnant than I was.

Welcome and congrats Martha

Hope you are ok cep

marthamay · 16/03/2011 11:29

Oh, forgot to say, EDD would be the 22nd November but actually I know when I ov'd so I think it's more like the 25/26th November.

dirgeinvegas · 16/03/2011 11:32

You're right righton (that sounds odd), wouldn't the dating scan iron that out though? I don't know from experience as DD wasn't planned and I had no idea about ovulation signs etc. My dating scan moved me on 5 days from what I thought my EDD was.

OP posts:
dirgeinvegas · 16/03/2011 11:33

p.s. you can always say no to induction. They can monitor you and the baby post dates if you want to wait for labour to start naturally and are confident of your dates.

OP posts:
laabama · 16/03/2011 11:43

It occured to me the other day that if my dates change and I go over, I could end up with a 11/11/11 baby! If I go massively over, it could be a 20/11/2011 which I also think would be quite nice! My friend's son was 20/06/2006 which I like. Hoping to hang on in there for one of those to :0

I suspect I won't be thinking that by Oct / Nov.... Wink
