though have just noticed they are categorised as "Boy's babywear" - why for god's sake, there is nothing in there a girl can't wear.

OP posts:
CurlyCasper · 11/03/2011 18:32

we bought those vests a couple of weeks ago. They're fab. Though i wish they also did them in long sleeves for winter.

How's it going medee? Been thinking of you.

rocketleaf · 11/03/2011 18:57

Actually meds^ they do that pack for girls too. Its basically the same but has a cerise and purple instead of the blue colours. Defo on my shopping list.

Think I am really lucky as TB has generally been pretty cool about the classes. Thought he was gonna balk at doing both but when I mentioned it just now he was fine with it. Also he is planning on taking a further 2 weeks of annual leave after PL and when I said it might be a waste as I will prob just be BFing 247 and sprout actually wouldn't be that interesting he just said well at least he could look after me and make sure the house was tidy. AND he has told me I need to mark the relevant parts in my Active Birthing book for him to read once I have finished. I heart him muchly!!! Sorry score that prob doesn't help much if you are having frustrations!

On the other hand he took the mini toblerones into work today and has left them there so I reckon he needs to lose points for that one Wink

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/03/2011 19:14

I luff those baby-gros too and I hadn't seen those socks but am very keen on them too. Anyone else bewildered by the soft grey trousers for new borns that M&S are calling joggers?

TB sounds lovely rockcake although he needs to pay over the toblerones!

Casserole · 11/03/2011 19:26

I can't see the M&S links Links from here never work for me... no idea why.

There's been a win in the palace by the way, not sure if anyone said that upthread...

owlbooty · 11/03/2011 19:26

Yes, I was amused by the 'joggers' - eh? But a bit about the fact they have boy and girl collections. I might get Owlet the girl's 5 vests just to be a bugger. It's not like he is going to care, right?

Rocket TB sounds fab. Perhaps he was saving you from the toblerones, selflessly throwing himself upon the chocolate grenade, so to speak? Mr Boots is in the pub. But he did bring me flowers yesterday which earned pub-points so that is okay.

Now I need to source coats with ears on the hood. And things with animals on.

Scorpette · 11/03/2011 19:39

I bloody love those bright babygros - totally agree that it's ludicrous that they're classified as for boys.

Boys' clothes for over 18 mths are so dreary Sad

I feel guilty for moaning about TYF as he got home early from work and rushed in to kiss me then crouch down and kiss my bump and start chatting with The Lad (finally someone on his wavelength, etc., etc.). Then he put his tea on and read my Hippobirfing book whilst it was cooking (albeit with a permanent expression like this: Hmm). Whilst the food was cooking, not the book, I hasten to add. Then he asked me all about the class and seemed all excited. Which would be lovely, if he wasn't now singing about me smelling of poo whilst playing on the PS3. Sigh.

rocketleaf · 11/03/2011 19:42

Ah yes! Fab news about trufflestiltswin I hope that's the beginning of another cluster!

The genderisation is bloody ridiculous, most places have a sea of pale blue ( with robots trucks and dinosaurs) for boys and pale pink (with fairies and princesses) for girls, then the unisex is all white with teddies on. next directory is the worst culprit I think. thing I find the hardest to cope with isy own brain tho. How as soon as I knew we were having a girl I started seeing some things as acceptable and others not based on colour and consciously going 'arrghh' at my own thinking.

Scorpette · 11/03/2011 20:03

Yay for Truffkin - fresh meat for us too!

Next stuff is appallingly genderised, meh. I think it's slightly easier to dress girls how you want than boys, Rocket. I was baby-clothes window shopping with my folks the other day and my Dad asked an assistant if they had any trews that weren't jeans or butch-style trousers and she looked at him like he was asking for a tutu and sequinned ballet shoes for a boy Sad Angry Said that this is what everyone wants, but I think it's more a case of people just buying what's available, surely, durr?!

And if The Lad wants to wear a tutu and sequinned shoes he bloody well will.

My problem is that I hate 90% of all yer usual boys' clothes; the colours, the motifs, everything. I've always secretly thought how horrible they are well before I got pg. It's not to do with gender so much as that I'm very visual and aesthetics really affect me strongly (although I am also annoyed with the stereotyping). I tend to just go for things for The Lad that I think are nice and stylish (as well as comfy and practical, those are more important factors) and then worry if people will think I'm making some sort of point, as none of them are particularly 'boyish'. Hmmph. Lorra Lorra turquoise and red going on in his awaiting wardrobe currently!

Muser · 11/03/2011 20:10

Today BobKate wore pale grey "jogging" trousers and a green stripey sort of rugby style top with a viking on it. She looked da bomb. And yes, she got mistaken for a boy. Care.

Pic on profile briefly for cooing porpoises.

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/03/2011 20:15

But did she jog? Am off for a coo!

Ivegotmrbitey · 11/03/2011 20:17

Ah god she's gorgeous! Is she doing that star fish thing with her hands, when they just spread all their fingers out becasue they can?

cluck cluck cluck cluck cluck

Scorpette · 11/03/2011 20:19

There's no mistaking that Bobkate is COOL, though Grin She truly does look the dog's shabizzlies, Muse.

Coo! Coo!

rocketleaf · 11/03/2011 20:36

I am constantly drooling over BKs outfits. She is such a little dude. (and I don't mean that as in she is a bloke :D)

score I was only saying the other day that it's a bit chicken abd egg with clothing ESP for the large catalogues.. Having worked with buyers I know how much pressure they are under to hit figures. It really doesn't encourage them to take any risks. Much easier to play it safe and buy in the same old shite. That's why Internet outlets like 3xloveit and rainbowbabies can take more risks and offer an alternative. There obviously is demand out there or M&S wouldn't be doing those bright sets and I can see stuff like that becoming more widely available eventually. It would just take longer for next to react as they are bigger and the work in a page by page budget and therefore a buy is a bigger risk if that makes sense?

rocketleaf · 11/03/2011 20:41

Btw that was me being too lazy to write especially not me syggesting Next have mind powers :o

Scorpette · 11/03/2011 20:55

I agree, Rocket; is a chicken & egg vicious circle thang. I do find JL pretty good for stylish, practical and not-too-genderised stuff.

LadyGoneGaga · 12/03/2011 10:39

Hello, hello. Back from lotsafun holibobs at Centre Parcs with MrG's family. MiniG said he wanted to stay forever - bless him. He stroked baby owls, went horse riding, handled a hawk, saw red squirrels and swam every day. How to make a happy 2 year old!

I dreamt I had my babybee last night but I was very cross because the midwife had dressed it in pink socks and (therefore a girl Hmm)I was vexed because I wanted to find out the gender myself. And nobody had written down the weight or when it was born and we couldn't remember to tell anyone. And it was tiny and only weighed about 2lbs.

Sounds like everyone is on good form - off to catch up properly!

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/03/2011 10:46

Some lovely things on here but I think they are a bit expensive. I especially liked the amazon print one. And these are just gorgeous! But are thirty pound! I don't spend that on grown up trousers!

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/03/2011 10:51

Hello gaga! Was so busy clucking over bee bottom trousers I cross posted. Holiday sounds idyllic, dream less so!

Ginfox · 12/03/2011 11:07

Blimey Bitey, those clothes are well cool, but a tad pricey. Just been on M&S website buying baby stuff in the sale, but my shopping basket emptied itself, and by the time I could put the nice things in, they had sold out! Arsebiscuits!

Were you at the Cumbria Centreparcs LadyG? We were there in October last year, and enjoyed it much more than I expected - not being much of a fan of "holiday resort" type places. The red squizzels on the back doorstep definitely won me over!

Medee · 12/03/2011 11:34

I'm going there in September, with my girlfriends and our respective offspring. Never been but looking forward to it.

OP posts:
Scorpette · 12/03/2011 11:36

Glad you had such a fab holiday, GG. I must be a 2 yr old too, cos I'd be pretty happy if I'd done all those things! Wiggy dreams not so good. I was forced to marry David Mitchell and he was a secret racist in mine last night Confused

Bloody love those bee bottom trews, Bitey, but the price is ridic.

We're off to our first NCT class this avo. Would feel more enthusiastic if I'd had more than 5 hrs sleep and wasn't having griping black diarrhoea thanks to my iron tablets Hmm

Ivegotmrbitey · 12/03/2011 12:01

Glad it's not just me that thought those clothes were a bit pricey! Do feel inspired to get shopping but for much much cheaper alternatives! I really really like those bee trousers and suspect my baybee will be of the stripey variety!

Had a funny thing this morning, was extremely keen on the sechs but my body said no. Must have been subconciously worried as when we tried with me on top was fine. Very strange though, I was actively pushing him out before that. I have suggested to the fdh that more practice needed Wink

sorry to hear the iron tablets are having side effects score I have same problem which is why I get so evangelical about spatone. Enjoy your classes, it's going to make it all seem more real I think!

Scorpette · 12/03/2011 12:01

PS TYF has decided that the best way to make a good impression on all those new folks at the class is to have garlic bread for lunch.

I despair.

milanomum · 12/03/2011 12:23

You'll make loads of friends scorps or at least have lots of room when no one wants to sit next to you ;)

I actually really love Next clothes for toddlers - they do all these applique t-shirts and dresses that are so cute - Thechild had a gorgeous brown dress last year with coloured buttons and owl embroidered on. I agree though that most shops are just getting ridiculous with stuff at the extreme ends of the gender selection only. Most of thechild's wardrobe is purple, grey or navy blue, but a bit of pink don't hurt sometimes!

LGg pregnancy dreams are fucked up.
