Muser · 03/03/2011 21:43

Big massive hugs for you Scorps.

rocketleaf · 03/03/2011 21:45

Crapola score that's not good, you poor thing! Try not to worry over the weekend I can't imagine how scary it must be for you and TYF right now but you are right to take comfort in the fact The Lad is oblivious to it all. Hope you can get some clarity on Monday and things don't turn out to be as bad as projected.

Scorpette · 03/03/2011 22:00

Can I have a virtual snuffle of Bob too? Ahhh, feeling better already :)

Scorpette · 03/03/2011 22:01
HighPriestessBoo · 03/03/2011 23:04

Hugs to you Scorpina. Are they thinking you may have Gestational diabetes then?

Scorpette · 04/03/2011 00:40

It looks like it, Boo Sad

LadyGoneGaga · 04/03/2011 06:41

Oh Score - that is shitty. But on the plus side baby wriggling around like a good un shows he is probably fine and it's you that is poorly. Did ou mention you have a family history of early labour as well? Did anything like this happen with anyone in family?

Big hugs anyway. Take it even easier and let TYF fuss round you all weekend.

Bitey - think I would have cut his heart out with a blunt spoon . But I must try it now!

Lovely to hear from you Occers

Muse good tip on vests. The envelope neck type ones normally not too bad but that is good to know. I think we also had some proper vest ones (sleeveless) with a popper on shoulders, can't remember though til I get the baybee clothes down from the loft.

Owlie sort it aht. Bet peeps are gossiping about you good stylee - when are you going to announce? Sadly people started directly asking me at 11 weeks so no hiding it.

Right off for scan in an hour!!! Wish me luck.

Ivegotmrbitey · 04/03/2011 07:58

score you poor love, you are really going through it aren't you? At least it has been caught now. It won't be doing the wee fella any harm at all and it usually goes once you've laid. You are completely getting more than your share of differ woes! Lots and lots of sympathy. Here, you can snuggle into the enornorks that doubled in size AGAIN over night - look they are freshly bio-oiled

Ocarina · 04/03/2011 08:09

Scorps I hope you're looking after yourself and managing to not worry too much (way easier said than done I know). Like everyone else has said, the fact that The Lad is clearly doing fine is what's most important, and the fact that the medics seem to be communicating and realising they need to do something is good news. Clearly spending a whole load of time in hossie wasn't on your agenda, but if it means you and The Lad are both healthy at the end of this it'll be such a small thing compared to that. (Only small in comparison when you look back, I'm not trying to minimise the scariness of it all now). Obviously hopefully it won't come to that.

Good luck with the scan GG, have fun!

milanomum · 04/03/2011 08:48

scorpy Massive hugs to you at the moment. At the risk of sounding irritating, at least they've identified that there is a problem and it's going to get sorted. Really feel for you xx

LadyGoneGaga · 04/03/2011 09:01

Back from scan - benefits of having first appointment of the day = zero waiting around. All is good - all the organs present and correct. We didn't want to know gender so still none the wiser. Baby transverse at the moment but seeing as it completely changed position during the scan no need to get knickers in a twist!

Bit horrible walking into the room as was same scan room as when they told me had lost everything at the mc. But now have happier memories!

Hope you're doing ok this morning, Score.

owlbooty · 04/03/2011 09:26

Whoop! Ace news, G Grin

Scorps at least they are taking you seriously and not faffing about - as Occy rightly says, the Lad is clearly happy in there and giving it welly. It might explain why he is measuring a tad large though. I have seen shedloads of baybees born to mums with gestational diabetes and they have been absolutely fine - as have the mums. You just might need monitoring to help you stay on track and it sounds like the Lad was planning an early arrival anyway.

I suspect MW is giving you absolute worst case scenario just so you don't freak out more if you go to the hossie and they demand you stay in. Some MWs tend to do that sort of thing.

Bites that is grounds for divorce, sorry. Nobody steals the chocolate and gets away with it.

rocketleaf · 04/03/2011 10:49

Great scan news lady I'm so glad you have been able to overwrite those bad memories, must have been a bitterweet moment.

Bit sad here today, my BBF is having IVF and has found out today none of her eggs fertilised. Its devastating after all the invasive treatment not to even get to transfer stage. IDK if this means they will be able to try again or not. :( :( :( Sorry for downer on your lovely news gaga I just wish there was something I could do for them.

Scorpette · 04/03/2011 11:27

HUZZAH for your scan, GG Grin So glad that everything is perfect. It must've been a real choker to be in the same room where you got bad news previously but I hope today's good news has reclaimed it (a bit more) positively in your mind now

Sorry to hear about your BBF's IVF-mare. I can't imagine the devastation. I'm in a crappy situation right now but I'd rather have this than the alternative Sad

Thanks or all the lovely supportive comments; you lot have really buoyed me up The MW pointed out that she has to give me the worst case scenario so that I'm not freaked out if developments are v bad or fast-moving, etc. (also that I can't sue her, she said Hmm). Is just so scary - am under consultant care cos of pre-existing health probs, which pose risk for labour, now have anaemia, which poses risks for labour and pg and probably have GD which poses risks for labour and pg! So it's a real hat-trick of shiteola Angry Didn't sleep much - although that's probably because I unwisely googled GD before bed. Terms like 'stillbirth' and 'birth defects' do not for a long, blissful slumber make. Confused

GG, in answer to the qu about the family history, everyone on both sides have had really easy, problem-free pgs. And I mean easy to the point where Drs and MWs have commented on how easy they were Envy Just get big bumps, deliver early and have quite difficult labours cos we're all midgets with small pelvises. I seem to have just drawn the short straw, tis all. TYF is being a treasure (as always). He's only 29 but is so strong, wise and mature.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm off to have a nap between Bitey's mammary mountains and dream of marshmallows...

Scorpette · 04/03/2011 12:26

Just had some reassuring news off my GP - had to speak to her about getting the iron tabs, so we discussed the GT test. Says that instead of the vile glucose liquid drink they usually make you drink, which would send me mental, I should insist that I have half a small bottle of Lucozade, as to someone with my ishoos, that will be the equivalent of the glucose liquid for everyone else.

I used to bloody love Lucozade when I could have it, so am almost looking forward to it now if I have to have the test (and if they say yes to the orange nectar!). I might drink the whole bottle, tee hee Grin

I realise how serious it still is, but this is such a relief!

Ivegotmrbitey · 04/03/2011 12:35

Lovely scan news G Unit, it must be lovely to see such a lively little wriggler!

That is very sad about your friend rocket, I hope they hear something more positive soon. Puts my minor gripes about spots and acheyness into perspective.

scorps when you wake up you may find that Dr Google has been blocked on your computer!

Medee · 04/03/2011 12:35

Big mahoosive hugs to you Scorps

OP posts:
Ivegotmrbitey · 04/03/2011 12:39

By the way this wasn't me!

Casserole · 04/03/2011 12:45

Sorry you're having a rubbish day Scorps . If it's any consolation I've got GD, they found out at my 28 week bloods. Apart from essentially living on the atkins diet since then, which has been a bit annoying, and stabbing meself 4 times a day which took a few days to get used to, it's being well controlled and really doesn't impact on me much at all.

So if it does turn out to be GD, tis not the end of the world. All manageable. And not for long! So take heart Smile

Casserole · 04/03/2011 12:48

Oh Rocket missed your post. That is so sad, and so hard for her. Sad There is just nothing to be said to make that sort of news better, is there? The universe really sucks sometimes.

(Gaga missed yours too - really pleased for you re scan)

rocketleaf · 04/03/2011 13:04

Yeah it's really shit :( Like you say cass not much to be said or done except be here for her when she needs me. She's managed to stay pretty upbeat about it so far but this is a heavy blow.

score thats a bit of better news about the lucozade, can't stand the stuff myself but there's no accounting for taste (you freak) Wink Now if you could do the test with dandelion and burdock I'd be all over it :D Reminds me need to stay off the sugary treats next wed night cos if I fail another urine test I will also be sent off for the dreaded glucose test too, have to remember to take FMU next time as well.

Orchid12 · 04/03/2011 14:47

Lady absolutely wonderful news! Am very pleased for you all is well with bubs. Such a lovely feeling.

Scorps you have had such a rough deal, you deserve a medal. I'm sorry things are feeling scary at the moment, I can only imagine that you are feeling really on on edge with everything. The good news is that they are taking you seriously and making sure you and The Lad get good care. The main thing is that whenever he makes his appearance, that he is looked after appropriately and it does sound like they are on it. Huge hugs to you, you're being very brave.

Rocket sorry to hear about your friend. Life can be crap sometimes.

Scorpette · 04/03/2011 15:12

So sorry to hear you've got GD, Cass, but am glad you're managing it well and not feeling badly affected by it. And inspiring to me to know how well you're coping with it, thanks. Am already on a low-GI regime anyway, so guess they'll just tweak it to make it even stricter. Think one issue is that the anti-GD diet contradicts the anti-anaemia diet: ie am supposed to take the iron tablets with oj, which I know will be banned on a GI diet! But I'll just take Vit C supplements to get round it.

The Lad has been extra-active just to reassure me that he's having a whale of a time (literally whale, the big bugger Grin), so that makes me so happy. Bladder Bongo was not conducive to napping, however. But Bitey's love pillows were dreamy, ta!

Thanks again to all, you luvverly lot :)

Rocket, if you like D&B have you tried Sarsparilla? TYF is mad for both. Sending your pal lots of love & vibes - she is so brave.

Casserole · 04/03/2011 16:24

Yes, I haven't been able to take iron with juice - but you can just take it with Vit C tablets. Some of the iron preparations come with ascorbic acid already bundled; you could talk to your GP about that.

The diabetic nurse showed me a GI plan the other day; in the medium column was fecking ICE CREAM! I pointed out that the most exciting thing I'd been able to eat in 7 weeks in order to keep my levels where they want them was a STRAWBERRY. She looked a bit ashamed and put the list away again.

For me, I can't really have any sugar (strawberries and melon ok) and only v small portions of carb to keep within what they want. If I eat what they say I should be able to, my levels go too high. I don't want to go on insulin unless I absolutely have to - it's just another thing for the baby to have to deal without when he/she arrives - so for now I'm carrying on carrying on.

You'll work it out, you're so used to tailoring your diet anyway I'm sure you'll be fine a get the hang of it much quicker than I did. If in fact that is what they find you've got, anyway, don't want to write you off before you've even had the test! ut just wanted to say it's not the end of the world, I know it feels alarming at first. I bawled my eyes out the day I found out but it's been fine. Best of luck anyway.

Scorpette · 04/03/2011 17:08

Thanks again, Cass, you have reassured me more than the MW and GP combined

Have just picked up the iron tabs, so too late for now to ask about the Vit C mix, but have some Vit C tablets anyway, so will take those.

Ice cream! That makes my arse laugh. I couldn't handle anything that sweet right now, never mind on a diet. Many medical peeps do get a bit too used to doling out 'one size fits all advice', don't they?! I'm used to a low-carb diet anyway; perversely only relaxed it upon getting pg due to medical advice. It is hard though, isn't it? But worth it for us and our kiddiwinks.

I too was v tearful all last night, but I bounce back quickly from feeling woe is me too. Am getting my mind round the probability that it's looking likely I'll need an elcs, even if I don't have GD. I wasn't planning on wearing a bikini any time soon anyway Grin
