afternoon all, taking a bit of rest as overdid it this morning. Bouef bourgignon partially made, then Mum and I walked to the local shops, where there is a great wool shop, and she bought some patterns and wool. By the time I got home, I was knackered, so she's ironing while I catch up with you lot. The BB needs finished, but will do that later, and we're going out for dinner so no pressure.

I'm pretty happy with the changing bag, looks well made considering it cost no more than a small pack of nappies, and will certainly do to begin with. There is one with our pram too which I need to play about with.

My midwife weighed me on Tuesday - 9kg on since my booking in, which I thought was fine, but WTEWYE has that at the lowest end of weight gain, ie anuthing under that might be an issue. Ach well, MW didn't seem bothered. I am "a good advert for pregnancy" apparently!

hello Pols, thanks for checking on me. I am unfortunately not resting as I should, but that will change after tomorrow once Mum is away. Hope all is well with you lot!

Also from yesterday's tally; Ebay nappy bucket arrived - absolute bargain, as good as new. I heart Ebay sometimes.

Leaps on booty on top of pol Hope all is well my luvver.

med buerf bourginon you say? Its a right faff! you couldn't just settle for beef stew? :o You are making me hungry and i just want to come and eat the contents of your freezer!

I have just bought a selection of different nappies from 2 different sites, bit early really but I've been- -timewasting-- researching while stuck in bed so didn't want to forget it all. Now I just need a baby to try it all on! although am tempted to get a teddy to practice on like in the Nappy Lady videos.

Still need to get a bucket etc. and really aught get of my bum and finish sorting the nursery out. Might do a bit tomorrow...

Medee · 03/03/2011 14:54

it's not terribly faffy, the recipe I use.

OP posts:
rocketleaf · 03/03/2011 15:01

ohh spill it pls! the one i did (Delia i think) required to you saute the onions and then the mushrooms separately. It took about 4 hrs in total to cook! It did taste lovely but we both came to the conclusion it wasn't worth the hassle. Mind you I only have a tiny cast iron pot so couldn't do it in bulk. My cunning plan is to ask my mum to make me big batches of her stews and then freeze them in 2 person portions, she does a mean beef stew and chicken supreme thing. (will live on pizza the rest of the time)

Ivegotmrbitey · 03/03/2011 15:36

I have been cuddling a tiny new born! He was 6lb8oz when born and is now 6,12! What a lovely little snuggler! Even more excited about my own baybee now but have another 21 weeks to wait!

Beouf sounds yum! I am going to have do quite a lot of reezer filling as the FDH can't cook for toffee. Although he can barbecue and we are havaing a summer one......

Scorpette · 03/03/2011 15:42

Off to MW appointment at 4. Hope I won't be waiting too long - my tum is growling after reading about all this gorgeous grub. My walk home takes me past an award-winning chippy; I thought I'd mention that a propos of nothing... Wink

Medee · 03/03/2011 15:43

will try to transcribe it sometime, Rocket. It's an old one from a Sainsbury's magazine, so doubt I will find it online. Only fiddly/ tedious bit is browning the meat off first.

Hurrah for snuffling newborns!

OP posts:
owlbooty · 03/03/2011 15:47

Oooh, barbequed halloumi kebabs. Chips. Tasty, tasty grease.

Is boeuf bourgignon the one where you empty half the bottle of wine into the stew and drink the other half?

Bites I am v.jealous of your snuggling. I want to do snuggling. But absolutely nobody I know in RL has a baybee. How bloody inconsiderate of them all.

rocketleaf · 03/03/2011 16:02

Ah don't worry meds you have far better things to do!! Thought it might be an online quicky linky.

I am dying to do some more snuggling with my friends new born, havent seen him for 2 weeks but must stay away because of cold.

I have left the house! Woo, only went to the local bakers in search of fresh yeast, they were useless but the lovely owner of the deli/grocers has rung his baker to ask him to drop some off with the bread in the morning. Hopefully I will be making Chelsea Buns a la Muse tomorrow. Mmmm.

Medee · 03/03/2011 16:11

the whole bottle of wine goes in, in this recipe, Bootycall

OP posts:
Ivegotmrbitey · 03/03/2011 16:14

is this it?

I am supposed to be putting a survey online and feel anxious about typos so looking for recipes is much nicer Smile

I love BBQ halloumi boots dribble dribble

Ocarina · 03/03/2011 16:58

I think I might finally have caught up with you all, although have forgotten most of what I've read. Very belated congratulations on the arrivals of BobKate, Berwhale and Tinychick.

Hot toddies to all the ill PESHes, tis no fun at all.

I seem to be spending most of this week telling people about the pregnancy, which is going variably well. One set of colleagues were absolutely lovely, the others a bit bemused. I'm v jealous of anyone managing to leave it late - I decided I couldn't afford to wait until people might guess/find out from other sources, so this week it is, and I'm finding it all very odd. Plus half the people I've phoned today haven't been in. I just want it all to be done now.....

owlbooty · 03/03/2011 17:07

Ah, two bottles of wine required then, Medee Grin

Am I the only one in here who hasn't announced state of diffedness publicly? Surely not. Oh dear, I feel like a wuss now. You lot are far braver than I am.

Medee · 03/03/2011 17:09

that just took me to the shopping homepage, Bitey but searching there gave me a similar but different recipe. Certainly looks simpler than mine even, so might work for rocket

OP posts:
rocketleaf · 03/03/2011 18:33

booty taking Queen of De Nile crown there, might have to start calling you Nefrawhooti

Aye up ocarina it's funny having to track everyone down to tell them, we wanted to do it mostly face to face so swore everyone we told to secrecy to begin with. Then there was a funny period when they all knew but no one wanted to say anything to anyone else just in case.

Thanks for the recipe bitey I tracked it down eventually, search function didn't work for me due to my previously exhibited inability to spell boeuf correctly. Then I realised it will be the height of summer so filling the freezer with home made burgers might be a better plan. TB like FDH suddenly comes into his own in BBQ season (and at least if he's going to burn something he might as well do it outside :o)

Ocarina · 03/03/2011 19:01

I've been doing a whole load of swearing to secrecy but we're about to hit the stage where that ceases to be an option - eeeeek. It's like getting to the point of no return. Owlie you're definitely not a wuss for not having made big announcements, if I could've left it later I would have, but realistically that couldn't happen or I risked people guessing which would've been no fun. (My job has a fairly public element to it and the idea of being the subject of gossip didn't appeal - at least this way the gossip will hopefully be accurate).

Rocket you're v organised thinking of freezer filling already...

rocketleaf · 03/03/2011 19:16

thinking about it occers you can bet nowt actually happens :o

Ocarina · 03/03/2011 19:28

Ah, but the thinking is the important bit!

owlbooty · 03/03/2011 19:37

Does buying in shitloads of readymeals count as freezer filling?

I did tell 4 close friends on Tuesday and none of them had guessed. Despite the fact I've been off the booze since November and my gut sticks out further than my cardigan can usefully conceal. And I gave a talk to about 150 nurses earlier this week and none of them seemed to notice either. I have concluded that people are fairly unobservant (or much politer than I've given them credit for).

Scorps did you get chips? Did you? Did you?

Muser · 03/03/2011 20:16

If anyone is buying baby clothes, Tesco do vests that button up like sleepsuits. They rock as babies do not like things going over their heads very much.

Ready meals definitely count as freezer filling. Just make sure it's stuff you can eat one handed. Because inevitably your dinner time will coincide with baybee's.

Casserole · 03/03/2011 20:45

Someone at college only realised I was diffed 2 weeks ago Owly. I was 33 weeks at the time. Goodness only know what she thought was going on, some serious comfort eating? So I also just think people are much less observant than we give them credit for!

I want chips.

Ivegotmrbitey · 03/03/2011 21:16

I have had chips Smile and a jumbo sausage and chippy gravy! Felt so guilty abut lack of nutrients have just eaten a pile of strawberries and a kiwifruit washed down with a spa-tone enriched cranberry juice.

I bought that Lindt chocolate with sea salt in at the weekend, it's 80% cocoa so mega chocolatey and the sea salt just adds an extra delicous element. I only ate one square because it was so nice it was all I wanted. Today I went to the fridge fancying a second square to find that the box was still there but the chocolate was gone Shock

Am I being unreasonable to beat the foot dragging one with a shovel?

Casserole · 03/03/2011 21:25

I think he would have only himself to blame.

Scorpette · 03/03/2011 21:33

I did indeed buy chips. But didn't eat many because I was upset as the MW appointment was v scary. I thought it was going to be the same-old same-old, but it's all kicked off shitty-health wise Sad Firstly, she rings blood test peeps - I do have anaemia, although not super-low iron levels, thankfully. Then urine test reveals both protein and glucose (glycogen?). Neither of these are good news, as I have had severe allergic reactions to every antibiotic I've ever taken and my complicated endocrinal disorder plus hypoglycaemia mean that I'm really not meant to ever have a GTF as it'd be hugely dangerous for me and certainly, if I had to have one, I'd have to spend several days in hossie to be monitored.

As if all this wasn't bad enough, my bump is the same size as it should be at 37 wks Confused and baybee measuring 32 wks (am 29). MW actually visibly freaked out by now and rings the hos to insist on speaking to my consultant. Speaks to one of his juniors, who agrees I need an emergency consultation - although the earliest they can fit me in is Monday (so not that much of an emergency, hmm Hmm). Mucho anxious chat between MW and jc whilst I try not to look like I'm bricking myself. MW says it's unlikely I'll get past 36 wks and said I have to be prepared for spending rest of pg in hossie or having elcs at 34 wks, depending on what they say on Monday. Think the water birth is out of the running. She then put her hand on mine and said 'I don't want to worry you any more than you must be already, but you are very ill and we're worried about you. You shouldn't have this many problems and we really need to sort you out'. Sad Then told me to do bugger all for the foreseeable future (hope this won't ruin my hectic schedule of daytime tv and net surfing, ahem) and gave me tips on eating to combat diabetes - except my existing diet is already stricter than the one she outlines. Ha.

So. Not a barrel of laughs round ours at the mo. TYF so worried about me he hasn't even felt like killing anything on the PS3, which is a first. I thought I was making a bit too much fuss over crappy but normal pg probs but I've actually been being blase!

Sorry to be mememe. Just feeling so worried - I'm pretty anxious at the best of times, but this doesn't help. At least The Lad is kicking like a good 'un and his heart rate was strong and stable. This too will pass, eh?

PS V glad to see Occers here again - I was just thinking this morning that we'd not heard from you for a while :)
