The girl who is now one of my best friends I met through Netmums - they have a meet a Mum section. I posted my area when I was pregnant first time round as I didn't do any classes and didn't know anyone at the same life stage. We meant to meet up before having our babies but ended up meeting in the postnatal ward in hospital after having our babies a day apart! My other friends I've met through toddler groups, swimming lessons etc - they're not massively my thing so I don't go to any now apart from swimming, just found myself some friends then buggered off! So you don't have to join anything.

rocketleaf · 02/03/2011 16:28

cass sorry to hear you and mini stew have the lurgy too. Here both of you come and snuggle under this blanky and have a sip of my rum laced honey and lemon. None alkie version for mini stew. There's room for loz and anyone else feeling a bit sniffly. Now do you want to watch Battlestar Galactica or Pride and Prejudice? :o

I was going to echo gaga and say do NCT in the new area and other classes in your current one? Are there any NHS antenatal classes you could go to locally? I have finally paid up for our course but not bothered joining, I figured I was just going to get a loads of guff email/posted all the time and if I want to find out about coffee mornings or whatever I can check their webo.

rocketleaf · 02/03/2011 16:29

sorry meant to insert a score in that last paragraph. fail.

owlbooty · 02/03/2011 16:57

Muse awwwwwwwwwww Bob sounds completely gorgeous.

Bites Whoop! Burn the cardi! Burn it! I still haven't told anyone except my boss. But yesterday I had to do a talk in front of about 150 people and I suspect most of them could tell. Bugger. I'm not admitting it until after 20 wk scan, they can sod right off.

Ivegotmrbitey · 02/03/2011 17:33

I have had the most lovely day! Had lots of visitors to my office to congratulate me and only one person said anything that could be misconstrued! My friend came and said he thought I had been looking a bit pale, spotty and round of middle but assumed I had been hitting the wine a bit hard! Shock

He actually knows me best out of my colleagues and am quite the pisshead but do feel a but Hmm that the conclusion he jumped to was alcoholism!

The funny thing though boots while I feel enormous and clearly diffed every single person has said that they had no idea. Even the women who had me on differ watch had no clue. I could probably have got away with it for another two weeks but was getting so hot in the flaming cardigan!

Sorry about all the colds everyone, hope you feel better soon.

score I know what you mean about needing to make pals. I am going to take part in a street party for the royal wedding (despite my anti-royal beliefs) as there are two new babies in my street and I don't know their mums. Feeling the need to get to know people in similar life period to myself!

Scorpette · 02/03/2011 19:03

Good suggestions, PESHios. Unfortunately, every single class in this town is focussed on young mums' needs, I shit you not. It has the highest rate of teen pg in Europe. In Europe, people! Shock There's no baby massage, baby yoga, nuffink - will have to go into the main city for those. Which I am fine about doing, but is still a pisser that's there's nowt suitable on round here. The NHS antenatal shebang is offered in one huge block on a single given Sunday, which we'll be doing in April at our hossie.

Bitey, you work that Royal Wedding party! Then inculcate your new pals into rejecting the monarchy Wink Glad you've had such a fab day - it's lovely how excited a pregnancy makes others and makes you realise how much others like you :)

Oh, wait - have found a baby yoga /postnatal yoga combo course v near me: RESULT!

Gaga, I wish you would spell Dar-beh correctly Grin

rocketleaf · 02/03/2011 19:57

Ah bitey how lovely your day sounds! :o Not sure sure about your 'friends' comment re your suspected alcoholism but I guess you have to forgive him, at least he didnt think you had started sniffing glue Wink

glad you have found a yoga course score dont be too quick to right off the local antenatal courses, just because they are aimed at young mums doesn't mean a/ all young mums will have nothing in common with you and b/ there aren't some older ones who are thinking exactly the same thing as you. After all you can't be the only pregnant 30's person in your area!

I am all Austined out now, someone needs to make more adaptations as i have watched all these too many times now.

Scorpette · 02/03/2011 20:23

Oh, it's not that Rocket, it's that they are specifically called Under-25s Whatever and you have to be, well, under 25 to do them. I have friends aged 20-60, is not an issue. I'm not the only preggo 30-summat round here, but my GP, MW, etc., have all been keen to tell me I'm the only first-time mum of my age. The lack of over-30 differs round here really has to be seen to be believed! When you do see someone older pushing a pram, you invariably then hear the tot call them Nanna Confused

(Also, most of the area is quite chavvy, so I acknowledge that I am being a snooty cow, regardless of the age of other differs Blush)

Medee · 02/03/2011 21:03

Evening all. Today's tally: 3 x 2 portion lasagnes, and 1 x 1 portion lasagne. One pack of nappies, free Boots changing bag, a tube of Lanisoh. Moses basket sheets. Lots of clean new baby clothes.

Scorps I too saw that DVO interview - made me want to vomit. Can't comment on the classes, but I joined NCT and yet to notice much extra that I would have got if I hadn't.

Gag sorry to hear about your fall, hope you feel better. Ditto Cass, hope you feel well soon.

Muse lovely post, so nice to hear.

OP posts:
Orchid12 · 02/03/2011 21:43

Scorps Can't wait for you to be over this way, there's lots of nice groups over 'ere. I never did NCT, did differs yoga and met one person, and from there met various others too. There's now a stock 5 of us that meet every week which is fab. We did the NHS classes at your hossie, there were some nice people on it but no-one that I was bothered about staying in touch with.

Med good work on the cook off!

All the poorly differs, I'm sending a blankie and a choccie bar your way.

Our bedroom carpet was fitted today so we have made a start on getting the house back together again. Hooray!

MustMountMoreFairies · 02/03/2011 22:34

I really need to set my priorities straight in life.

So how far along are you, Bitten? 4.5 months per my calculations?

I'm going to try paying attention and stay unlurked.

Ivegotmrbitey · 03/03/2011 08:48

Morning mountie - yes 4 and a half months!
Can't believe I am nearly half way through!
How about you, how are you getting on?

What did you think about the free change bag meds? I was really pleased with it but don't really have a bench mark to compare it to. Fabulous cooking progress, what time shall I come over to help you eat it all?

Differs yoga was lovely last night, lots of new people so a more chatty experience than ususal. It was a lot more active than the last two sessions and those aches at the bottom and sides of my bump have vanished this morning. Lots of bump cuddling (only your own) and chatting to the baybee too, managed not to cry

How are the poorly ladies feeling today?

laurielou · 03/03/2011 09:04

Morning all,

Muser your post had me melting into a little pool. What a fantabulous picture of contentment Grin

Bitey YEY on announcing the news! I was only saying to Mr Loz the other day how fabulous it is being diffed as everyone is nice to you, talks to you etc. Enjoy.

Cass & all fellow cold sufferers.....what a nightmare. Poor Ministew as well. Thankfully mine still hasn't progressed beyond acres of snot, so I'm hoping to blow all the nastiness out of my red raw nose & suffer no more.

Med Can I come over for tea?

Casserole · 03/03/2011 09:11

Still rough here. One of those feverish nights, couldn't work out if I preferred the boiling hot bits of the shivery bits. Ministew actually slept through from about 10, vast improvement on the night before when he was up 2-4:30ish. He seems brighter today though still pouring snot and sticky eyes. My Mum & Dad are coming to take him out for a couple of hours in a bit so will be nice to rest. We're bunking off swimming this morning and MrStew took the cat to it's vet appt first thing so my morning is at least nice and quiet. I can't handle much more cbeebies though!

Free changing bags - I found in the end my freebie one was too small for everyday use, so gave it to my Mum, it was just right for the small trips etc they take mini out on.

Glad you're less achey Bitey

Slaps with a snotty tissue to all Grin

Ivegotmrbitey · 03/03/2011 09:23

Poor cass feeling ill while diffed is just mean! Glad ministew is feeling a bit better and you can spend the morning watching shit tv and eating doughnuts recovering a bit.

LadyGoneGaga · 03/03/2011 09:48

Sounds like everyone still yucky then. Boo.

MicroG? (still have no nickname for the baybee) was wriggling around last night so was nice and reassuring as seems none the worst for the trip down the stairs! I'm feeling a bit stiff and old ladyish generally. Hoping is not the dreaded SPD (never had it before but paranoid about it for some reason).

I managed ok with the free change bag most of the time - helps if you don't have bottles and paraphernalia as I only took out a muslin, a couple of nappies and spare outfit and wipes. Anything else got shoved under the buggy. Have lost the change mat out of it so might have to go and get another one though!

Only one and a half more days of work to get through then off to Centre Parcs with MrG's family. Taking MiniG ponyriding. Very exciting - will be his first time Grin

rocketleaf · 03/03/2011 10:06

Still full of snot here but actually contemplating leaving the house or doing some cleaning at some point so must be feeling better. I found some Karvol yesterday and I think that might have helped me breathe a bit better last night as didn't wake up til the obligatory 4 am (cat trying to get in room) although I had been having some rather disturbing dreams - newborn goes missing, dad suspected of stealing her but turns out she has been abducted for a ransom by a company that hypnotised me by email, and those are the bits that make sense!!!) Don't feel as headachy and the stuff on my chest seems to be moving a bit and isn't dark grey which is normally a sign things are progressing. TMI alert! :o

Sorry you are still feeling rough cassaulet think you have it worse than me as I havent had those fluey shivers much. Hope onepotstew keeps improving and you can have a tucke in morning.

Mmmm, lasagne.

rocketleaf · 03/03/2011 10:18

Oh also had a big chat with Sis about mum and dad last night (sort of post holiday debrief) and then picked her brains about the whole nappy thing (she used to be Lollipop agent, which is similar to Nappy Lady) got my recommendations through from the Nappy Lady, its VERY thorough I have to say and makes a lot of sense but I am going to leave it for a bit, no rush after all as I am probably going to use disposables for the first few weeks anyway (depending on what size Sprout comes out)

Casserole · 03/03/2011 10:21

I'm contemplating a shower PakChoi - must be progress!

I love Karvol, really reminds me of my childhood.

rocketleaf · 03/03/2011 11:22

Me too! Not sure if it works or if it's just such a comforting smell it helps me sleep :o Doesn't really matter I spose.

laurielou · 03/03/2011 11:43

Karvol! Can you still get it? Woo hoo! I can't use Vicks any more since I shoved tonnes of it up my nose prior to going to the loo in Glastonbury Grin

owlbooty · 03/03/2011 12:41

I've never seen the Glastonbury loos but I suspect even Vicks and a blindfold would not be sufficient to deal with the horror. The ones at the Big Chill were pretty damn rancid.

rocket I hoovered out Boo 's nostrils on the other thread, can I offer you the use of the hoover next?

Scorps where I live I think I will be one of the youngest first time mums. Perhaps we could set up an exchange scheme? Glad you have found a yoga class, tis very relaxing doing yoga.

Today's irrational worry is that I have only gained a pitiful 3 pounds despite eating like a horse since week 12 when the nausea wore off. This is not like me at all as I am a pie-eating heifer who puts on weight at the drop of a custard tart. The stupid chart says I should have gained about 5 at the very minimum. So are these charts utter bollocks or what? And, does this mean I have a licence to eat All The Cake I Can Find?

LadyGoneGaga · 03/03/2011 13:34

Owlie are you just saying these things to taunt me?! You will be one of those horrible women who comes out and pops straight back into her jeans. Don't worry though, it's only a rough guideline - provided baybee is growing well (which it was at last scan and still will be) then it doesn't matter what you weigh.

PollyPoo · 03/03/2011 13:42

Hello, just popping in to check on Medee. How are you doing lovely? Cook off sounds great! How are you enjoying mat leave so far? I hope you are still in your PJs - don't want to let the side down. Grin

Lemsips and whisky to all the sicklyESH. Hope you all feel better soon.

I love karvol capsules too Cass - takes me back to being about 4 and snuggled up on the sofa with mum. Lovely. Grin

owlbooty · 03/03/2011 14:11

Aw G I promise you that will not happen and I will be wearing tents for at least 3 years afterwards Grin I am going to find some cake RIGHT NOW just to make sure.

All going okay in the 'Poo Household?
