Took it upon myself to start a new thread. Everyone's popping right now!

PS: Sorry for the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of Blush

Congratulations Byron on your wonderful news. Sorry tarlia I mean tadjen with the nips comment! Hope yours are fine!

roundthehouses · 11/02/2011 10:09

Congrats to all the new babies/mummies! Really helping to keep spirits up now that they seem to be coming fairly steadily Smile i am still 11 days off due date so trying to just keep planning things to keep myself busy. Absolutely NO sign of anything impending here, occasional niggles but on the whole I feel really great, better than I have in months, maternity leave definitely helping with that!

Going to pick up our new car this afternoon which is exciting, finally graduated from a 3-door to a great bleedin station wagon - feels like we could live in the thing!

The sanitary towel is a great tip, last time i was advised to use one soaked in witch hazel which also felt amazing if you haven´t thought to freeze one and need quick relief.

Second, third, fourth, lansinoh for nipples Grin amazing stuff though it is very greasy and did ruin a couple of tops so be careful..

Good luck to all those who are on the verge or feeling things moving. I am off to clean the bathroom now Hmm

ElleB1980 · 11/02/2011 10:28

Morning all,

Such lovely news about all the arrivals. I am very jealous as I'm still waiting (41+1) with no real signs of anything happening. I has another sweep yesterday but nothing has kicked off since then...I was vaguely hopeful as I lost my mucus plug after the last one.

Booked in for an induction on Tuesday which I'm almost looking forward to...the boredom is incredible, I'm constantly tearful and I can totally sympathise with all you puffy ladies - my wrists are seizing up at every opportunity and my cankles are something to behold - I can only get 2 pairs of shoes on and one of those is my running trainers!

Oneof4 · 11/02/2011 11:42

All so exciting! And I completely sympathise on the swelling issue - I feel like I have a couple of elephant legs that just go down from my knees in a vertical line to the floor. II II

It's our w/e for the DSDs to stay, so I'm really keen to get to Monday before encouraging this LO to move. The girls are very keen to actually help me give birth (!) and that's not really a conversation I want to have while bent over double and gasping in pain. :) I'm not due until next Saturday, but have been having very mild period type pain for a couple of days, so it feels as though something's beginning to stir in there...

ellesbelles79 · 11/02/2011 12:07

Congrats to everyone with their new arrivals!! Babies are coming thick and fast now! Grin

Hope everyone is doing okay?Im feeling like a huge whale and I am really suffering with SPD at the moment. I told my GP and he just laughed and told me to take painkillers?and that labour will be much more painful so I should just grin and bear it Shock....soooooo helpful!!!

pdr I feel exactly the same way?Im constantly hoping for every twinge to go onto something more! Im 38 + 3 but just want my LO out now. I just want to meet him and Im becoming so impatient! I cant sleep as Im just lying there rubbing my tum saying ?come on baby, come out tonight pls? hahah

slowangels that?s promising news after your growth scan. Estimated weight doesn?t sound too bad and Im sure it will all be fine for you. Don?t worry! My friend recently gave birth to an 11 pounder and managed?so stay positive!

Tbh Im just very bored right now. I want to go into labour just to have something interesting to do?.not sure how I will cope over the next 10days or so?.waaaiiiiillllll!!

ozzysocks · 11/02/2011 12:22

Congrats Apple and Byron and all the other arrivals. Good luck with everyone in the midst of it or playing the waiting game.

ledkr thanks for your words of wisdom that really helped :) I think have made the right decision! I really don't want another emcs for a big baby.
I have just got back from Hosp having booked my elcs Shock. Its booked for 21 Feb so at the beginning of half term, which is perfect!! I'm finding it really odd knowing the date in advance but lovely to be able to plan things. So bit nervous but think it's best plan all considered.

ILovePonyo · 11/02/2011 12:31

Aah more babies! apple 47 hours - wow! Well done!

Good tip about the sanitary pad too tarlia

I saw the midwife today and am booked in for a sweep on tuesday. Have been feeling some twinges but that is about it... hopefully I won't need the sweep but we'll see.

Good luck to everone else who is waiting, its so frustrating isn't it!

linz17xxx · 11/02/2011 12:46

Been to hospital today (40+2) i'm booked in for induction on wed. Congratulations to all the new mummies x x

PDR · 11/02/2011 12:50

Afternoon!

Ooo we just fitted the baby car seat in the car :) Had to hoover the bloody thing first though as realised the cat had been sleeping in it although it was wrapped in plastic Confused not sure how that happened!

Went to town this morning and had quite a few bad BHs - made me stop dead Shock no pattern though and not getting worse so think that's it for now!

Really craving McDonalds - what is it about junk food??!

Breezey · 11/02/2011 13:15

Going for a sweep this morning, wasn't really expecting another w/e without baby, so not sure about that. Congratulations to new mummies, still finding it hard to believe there is really a baby in there. DC have been really helpful for last few days, ( I suspect DH is bribing them) though DS clls me his chubby mummy, which he thinks is hysterical. Feels very strange just waiting, should do something more productive. Recorded OBEM which has just started here, have never seen it but might watch in hope of inspiration ...

smallblackflowers · 11/02/2011 13:54

Congratulations byronic will update the stats in the next day or so.

I had my sweep this morning - it was so much less painful than the one I had with DD - was 1.5cm dilated, cervix was soft and 2cm effaced, so it looks like something has been happening. Had a couple of strong cramps in the hour afterwards but nothing since. MW told me that 75% of women go into labour within 72 hours of a sweep. Have another booked for Tuesday if this one doesn't work, but fingers crossed it won't be needed.
DH has had his kidney stone blasted this morning too - oh the irony of us both being in agony as we pass something too large through our genitals at the same time.

lostfromoz · 11/02/2011 14:36

Congrats byronic, that's great! And to everyone else! Wow, sbf, you should get proper sympathy off your DH...good luck to you both!
I am just sitting around chilling out...seem to have one day of complete exhaustion and uselessness, followed by one of being really excited and optimistic and getting loads done.

PinkElephant73 · 11/02/2011 15:20

Congratulations to Byronicheroine and Applecharlotte and commiserations to everyone who like me (40+7) is overdue!

Trying to keep my chin up here, although clock is ticking down to induction next Weds. Ive decided not to leave it any further as its half term the week after and want to be home with the baby by then, so that DS1 and DS2 can enjoy a week of "fraternity leave" from school.

Dh and I went for a walk earlier to try and encourage the baby to make an appearance, we were like a couple of pensioners shuffling down the street. going swimming tomorrow morning and have another sweep booked tomorrow afternoon. then out for a curry for dinner tomorrow night. not because I really think it will make a difference but just cant be bothered to cook.

WaddlingSheep · 11/02/2011 15:25

Grr, I'm still getting pains but they don't seem to be getting any more regular or stronger. I wished it would either stop or turn into something more exciting!

Going out for tea tonight so hopefully it will keep my mind off it!

Sbf that's good news re being a bit dilated. Hopefully things will happen soon! Hope your DH has extra sympathy for you! Mine just tells me to stop whinging, I tell him that I'll kick him in the balls a few times and see how much he whinges! Shock

Breezey · 11/02/2011 16:23

Sweep was okay, just a bit uncomfortable, M/W said cervix soft but not effaced, suggested about 60% are effective, but never really know if that has caused labour, or if it was going to happen anyway. Like SBF also felt some cramps after, but not much. Might go for a walk, but blowing a gale here.

tadjennyp · 11/02/2011 16:46

Congratulations byronic - any names yet?

Nips are all scabbed over Sad and tadbaby seems to be feeding every hour from 9 till midnight then waking up at 3 for a couple of feeds then asleep till gone 7. Not too bad! I think I can cope with that!

Hope all the sweeps and curries work and your babies come soon.

knittakid · 11/02/2011 17:42

Lots happening ladies! I really don't like the idea of a sweep, you are all soo brave!

I had some bad news this morning, some of you might remember that due to trainning during last year I wasn't sure I was going to make it to be entitled for maternity allowance, well, it turns out I'm not, by a week!! was really upset by it this morning until DH came back and told me off for worrying about it. I felt doubly bad because I had been in a real 'things are alright' feeling lately and felt things progressing 'down there'... afraid I might have stopped it all with all the worry.
Sorry to moan Confused

ILovePonyo · 11/02/2011 20:11

Thats annoying knitta - only a week as well, how frustrating! I would have been worrying too if it was me, and I'm sure you won't have stopped things happening?

Am having some cramping type feelings myself but nothing major - good luck for tonight everyone!

smallblackflowers · 11/02/2011 20:48

waddling fingers crossed things start progressing for you tonight.

knitta what a nightmare Sad

It seems that my sweep has done something - I've been having pains since about 4pm, varying strength and regularity, but at least something is happening! They were 7 mins apart for about an hour a while back but have spaced out since. breezey hope yours starts to work too, and that ponyo your pains start to get worse tonight!

hubbard86 · 11/02/2011 20:52

well just a little bit of good news from me. Baby moved back down into head down position yippee. Which meant i got to come home today. No more noisy builders yay. Still booked for csec on the 24th so only 13 days left unless something happens sooner. Got home to find another pushchair dh decided to buy. It's a twin graco one, it's a bit of a monster. It now means we have 3, the graco twin, a graco travel system and a grandstyle pram. I am starting to think dh is a pramaholic.

fiveisanawfullybignumber · 11/02/2011 22:47

Sorry to gatecrash the Feb baby bus. Tarlia, congrats.Grin
Did an advanced search to see if there was any news as was worried about you from the PE paranoia thread. Glad all went well.
If you need help to process birth or just want to chat to another who knows, get in touch.
A very un MN type hug!

knittakid · 11/02/2011 22:50

hubbard excellent news, hope things happen before the 24th then!

Forgot to say before thanks for advice re car seats.

Thanks for sympathy sbf and Ilovepon, it is particularly annoying due to it beign just a few days, after really trying hard to plan this pregnancy I didn't do such a good job of that!

Yes, good luck for tonight everyone.

ledkr · 12/02/2011 09:41

Pic of Delilah on my profile now ladies.Hope you are all well got to dash she is squawking.Grin Love to all xx

ZeroMinusZero · 12/02/2011 09:53

Absolutely beautiful ledkr makes me want to get my out and in my arms right now!!!

In fact I'm so desperate I tried maritals last night but it didn't really work... we couldn't find a way to avoid my gigantic bump Blush

slowangels1 · 12/02/2011 10:08

argh, my comp just closed itself down and lost my message :(

ledkr beautiful piccie of delilah - she looks lovely :)

knitta how annoying

sbf sounds promising. Hope all going well

I had this morning as I got up and went to the loo Blush (tmi) a decent amount of discharge in my pjs - more than I've ever had yet anyway and enough to make me a bit Shock. Wondering if it might be a show but no blood, just sort of creamy ish discharge. Anyone????

Have been reading up on induction and speaking to my mw and feeling quite scared about it all (especially as they keep telling me different things re: whether DH can stay with me or not at hospital etc) so am starting this week end on some serious attenpts to get baby out.
