Took it upon myself to start a new thread. Everyone's popping right now!

PS: Sorry for the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of Blush

knittakid I've a funny feeling you are going to need a carseat for the taxi, our hospital lets you borrow carseats for that very purpose. Noticed a big sign up about it when I was last there. Give hospital a quick ring and ask them. Know with dd2 the midwives checked all the babies were in carseats or prams before they were carried out.

One of four well done for staying at work so long. I too have only recently started mat leave and I have to say I am really getting the most out of it as a rest was long overdue. Am also finally putting all my nesting emotions to good use. Am sorting out cupboards which haven't been sorted for years.

Knitta I can't help as I have a car but have often wondered what carless folk do. Is it really THAT bad to use a sling in a taxi? Genuine question, I don't know the answer.

Yeah she gave me some ranitidine, fingers crossed the horrid reflux is no more!

knitta I think they may insist on a car seat, can you borrow one from a friend? Someone with a toddler may have one stored in the loft, I know I normally do! Grin

knitta I don't know what the hospital's stance is but legally you don't need a car seat in a taxi. We have cars but on the odd occasion we have needed to take a taxi we have not needed to use a car seat.
I second asking someone to borrow one just in case but maybe ring the hospital first and see what their policy is. When I had DS they would never have known how we were getting home as DH went to get the car from the car park (with car seat inside) and I just met him at the front door carrying DS - noone came with me or anything but they were very busy at that time Confused

Just home from 3rd reflexology session - its so lovely I am going to miss it! I have booked in for next week but hopefully won't get that far!

Morning all, nice to see some more babies! Congrats to CheeseChomper and Tarlia.

Good luck, EarlGrey, maybe it'll be you next!

I suppose if you really wanted to leave and simply didn't have a car seat, I don't see how anyone could stop you. What would the hospital do if you just stood up and walked out?

Congrats to everyone with babies! They're coming thick and fast now, aren't they?

I saw the midwife this morning and had a sweep - not as bad as I thought it would be (hopefully I can say that about labour too!). I have a tentative appointment for induction next Thursday but an appointment with a consultant just before to discuss possible other options.

angels - easier said than done, but try to relax. It will all work out in the end and you'll get a gorgeous baby.

Hello ledkr, hope delilah manages to gain weight soon, must be so stressful for you. We went to register Ben today so he's all official. Only took 15mins thank god as was worrying about being stuck there and needing to feed him (not too confident about feeding in public yet). Think he has his hearing test next week, keep forgetting when appointments are.

Going to try and rest this afternoon if I'm allowed as really haven'y done since he arrived.

good luck today angels, hope it all goes well x

Hope to see more baby news soon! Smile

hubbard find it so typical NHS how they get you in hospital on bedrest and then decide to do building work - very restful Wink

Just back from scan/appointment and induction has been booked on my due date (21st feb) assuming nothing happens before then. Baby still measuring very big but not quite as off the scale as 2 weeks ago (only tummy circ that is huuuuggggggggeeeeeeee and off the scale now, everything else just averagely massive Wink ). Estimated weight for today is now 9lb 3, which, is still very big, but not as big as I was worried it could be.

Keep trying to claw onto any positive of having an induction booked as it does make me a little twitchy/nervous after reading so many bad stories on mn (although know some of you have had good experiences).

angels, that's great news, 9lb 3oz is big but you are unlikely to end up on the news Grin My mum was induced with me and my bro (admittedly this was 30 years ago) and said it was fine. Her and my dad often joke that I shot out and had to be caught by the dr. The hole labour was 2hrs start to finish. So it's not always bad!

Well, it has begun. One of my friends posted on my FB yesterday 'have you had the baby yet?' FFS, I'm not even due for another week. I also got a text from my SiL asking if we were going to have a third DC! Resisted the temptation to reply 'jeff off, you lunatic'. I think this is a sign it's time for me to go into hibernation, shut down my FB and turn off my phone- but I'll still be on MN of course Grin

angels glad you're happy with how appt went and that you feel a little better about babys size. At least you have a bit of an idea about timescale now, as you know I had a really positive induction with dd2, but you may go yourself, don't worry.

needtosleep and ledkr I am now ordering you both to rest for at least the rest of the day and night Grin.

tarlia and cheese very well done, looking forward to hearing your birth stories :)

I am still a bit overwhelmed at how fast Sabine arrived- if I hadn't been in the hospital already I don't think I'd have made it. She is a delight- sleeps all the time at the moment, feeds pretty well and have barely heard her cry. Last night she slept 12-7, and I REALLY needed that sleep. Just to make you all Envy - I slept on my tummy. Grin

Ooo meant to say- I had a MALE MIDWIFE!! Was a little Hmm to begin but he was excellent, and got me into labour where many others failed!

angels take heart from my induction/large baby story. Induction is FINE- at least you know when it'll happen, and if I can push out a 10.5 pounder with no damage at all then you can too.

Afternoon ladies, lots of news from everybody again!

Congrats cheese and tarlia on your new arrivals, glad you're getting lots of newborn cuddles!

angels happy you're feeling a bit more reassured about your plans. I think if it were me I would feel better for having 'a plan' in itself, rather than just not knowing what was going to happen. Sounds like baby isn't still expanding at such an alarming rate so that's good news!

I'm fine, second day off work now and I have to say that whilst I'm enjoying relaxing, it really does feel quite weird. I don't quite know what to do with myself.

Anyway, all well here, but no signs baby is on the move yet. I have been for two curries this week so have been 'encouraging'!

Stay happy & healthy ladies and good luck with imminent popping.
Dx

debka Sabine slept from 12 - 7 last night - my 3 year old doesn't always do that!! [sticking my tongue out at you] So happy all going well for you, I had heard that male midwives are absolutely fab, think its because they sometimes have to work really hard to be accepted.

The rest of you can have some Biscuit !!!

Envy

Don't worry about newborns failing their hearing tests. Apparently most do. DD failed her first one and then passed the second. She has had more tests since (only because I'm partially deaf and it can be hereditary but mine isn't) and she is fine.

Hello everyone, I have been well out of the loop for most of the other thread but I was lurking away quite happily!

Have really enjoyed reading about all of the new arrivals, some beautiful baby names too. I am now officially 2 days over my due date (think I never updated my stats, oops) and am seeing the midwife tomo - americanexpat can I ask about your sweep?! Any detail would be appreciated! Did you have to ask for it or was it offered?

I will continue to lurk but will also make the effort to post more - I've not got an excuse not to now I'm just at home waiting for baby to put in an appearence!

Good luck everyone Grin

Ponyo - it was offered but I'm 40+6 today. I was 39+6 at my last appointment and it wasn't offered but I didn't ask for one either. It felt like a series of tugging motions. It was uncomfortable, like being punched in the cervix repeatedly but she said I handled it better than most. All in all, probably about 30 seconds total.
