PS: Sorry for the awful rhyme, it was all I could think of Blush

Thanks americanexpat. Sorry but Grin at being 'punched in the cervix'!
I'll see how I get on tomo and report back - and will be keeping an eye on here for any more news too.

ledkr · 10/02/2011 17:44

hello, yes D sleeps from 9-4 at night but obviously now i am having to wake her 3 hrly to forcefeed build her up,i hope she doesnt lose the knack.
No sign of the pils,i have a feeling dh has rowed with them cos he is cagey and hasnt mentioned them to me with regards the baby and i havent heard him ring to say D is home.Weird eh?I will be so angry if his mum has given him a hard time,he has been thru so much with worry about his 1st child and me and looking after ella.It seems weird to me.
Love the wine emoticon, i have had a few since home but it doesnt touch the sides,am going to take my dil out for a few next week as she has split up with ds and she is gutted.Needs some feisty mil time with me,pity all mils arent like me eh?haha

PinkElephant73 · 10/02/2011 18:23

hi everyone

Ive posted on the childbirth forum as went for my sweep today (40+6) but midwife could not do it as cervix fully closed and posterior. induction booked for next Weds.

anyone got any words of encouragement to cheer me up re chances of labour happening spontaneously?

tadjennyp · 10/02/2011 18:24

Congratulations cheese and tarlia. Well done girls! Lovely to get more arrivals! Anyone else totally in love with their newborn's back of neck?! Tadbaby slept between 12 and 4 last night and I woke up worried he'd not fed!! (And I'm a third time Mum!)

Nipples still really sore and I have to express some milk as have to teach this evening. It's only a couple of hours, but I don't want to leave him. [what was I thinking emoticon]

ozzysocks · 10/02/2011 19:08

Hi everyone

Wow its all go here congratulations to all the new arrivals :) and my thoughts are with all those overdue. Both my DS's were late and I am impatient already this time (37 + 4 now).

I have an hosp appointment tomorrow as baby is looking big so after lots of soul searching am going to ask for a elcs (Drs had left it up to my choice). I ended up with an emcs with ds1 but after ds2's traumatic vbac I had a horrible recovery which was as bad as the emcs recovery.

Has anyone had an elcs following an emcs? Was the recovery better??

applecharlotte · 10/02/2011 19:38

Hi all,

Congrats to those with their bundles - its so nice to hear everyones stories.

To add my own...

Albie Douglas arrived on Tues 8th Feb at 1am after 47, yes...47 hours of labour!

All I can say is...thank god for epidurals...and to those who have done it naturally I am in AWE. :)

He weighed 7lb 11oz and is worth every minute.

I was kept in for a day and a half as he had problems feeding but we're slowly getting the hang of it now.

Good luck everyone

ZeroMinusZero · 10/02/2011 19:48

OP posts:
40Weeks · 10/02/2011 20:40

Nice one apple lovely to hear of another bundle arriving safely, 47 hours though, you poor thing. Were you induced?

pink I hope labour starts naturally for you. It can happen at any time though, so don't despair, baby will come when ready. I was late with both of mine, I know how heart breaking it can be.

tarlia your poor ole nips! Hope they heal quick.

Am really fed up tonight, bed time has become a battle with ds1 and am at the end of my tether. How will I manage in a few weeks? Feel so stressed about this baby and how I will cope Sad have a glass of red to cheer me ip, ssshhhhhhh

smallblackflowers · 10/02/2011 21:11

Lovely news of all the new arrivals - gorgeous names too. I am very Envy as now 40+4. Am having a sweep tomorrow, even though I said I wouldn't ever again as the one I had with DD was so painful! DH is going to have his kidney stone zapped tomorrow too...what timing Hmm
Have been lurking but not posting for the last few days as have DM here and what feels like no time...not been feeling very sociable either.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 10/02/2011 21:17

congratulations apple, glad you're home now and i also bow before the epidural needle! Wink

tadjenny have you got any lansinoh? i've been using it religiously as my nipples had blood blisters on them at first but it's fab stuff and has worked its magic Grin

can anyone tell me how long growth spurts last for please??? am cluster feeding like a zombie Shock they don't tell you about this wonderful part of motherhood and i thought i had about 6 weeks till the first one Confused

Tarlia · 10/02/2011 21:19

My nips 40? Though they are a bit sore today hehe

Congrats, Deb, cheese and charlottle. 47 hours? Wow, you poor thing!
Deb I'm so jealous you managed that without a stitch!! My tiddler on has given me a borderline 3rd degree :( It seems true what they say, bigger babies. Did you do perineal massage?

Ive still not processed my labour, I will say though, don't panic about what to put in your lzabour bag - so long as you have a camera mobile, the rest may not be thought of - mine was all abandoned on the ward!

Im not sure if this is normal in the Uk, but thought I'd share the tip as just wow. Soak a sanitary towel in water, stick in a freezer bag and freeze for at least 4 hours, place in an old sock, then put in knickers for as long as you need. Oh the relief for both tears and piles.

ledkr · 10/02/2011 22:52

ozzysocks just had my 4th c section and only elective one,it was very nice and dh and i really enjoyed it,we have the whole thing on film too.I am on day 14 and feel great and i have been up and down to hospital with the baby's probs too so not had a proper rest either. Was out of bed about 6 hrs after and home after 2 nights, only needed pain relief for first 5 days too.Good ;uck.

tadjennyp · 10/02/2011 22:53

Congratulations Charlotte! 47 hours - I am so impressed! Mine lasted 6 and that was enough for me! Give yourself plenty of time to process your labour tarlia. Just enjoy your newborn. We're all getting there now!

Oneof4 · 11/02/2011 04:00

Can't sleep, but soooo tired... Any tips ladies? What am I going to be like AFTER I've given birth? :)

byronicheroine · 11/02/2011 07:30

Morning ladies and babies! I have another one to add -he was born last week - 7.42 on wed the 2nd - but the hospital kept us in for observation as he had jaundice. My (British) midwife said that she wouldn't even have checked him if we'd been in the uk but there you go. At least the food was good and the nurses would change nappies and fo baths if you couldn't be bothered!! I had a lovely roommate too :)
well, birth story; i had a few twinges in the day , and a bloody show at midnight so I went in to hospital for observation. The baby's heartrate wasn't stable so I was admitted and monitered. My waters went at 5.22 and my son was born at 7.42 so it all happened incredibly fast. It was pretty painful (I had an epidural but it didn't have time to work effectively) but it's amazing how fast all that fades!
Congratulations to all the new mmmies, and hang in there those who haven't popped yet- new thread new babies!

ledkr · 11/02/2011 08:09

one of 4 you will be like me and largely unphased by the night feeds cos so used to not sleeping. The only downsode ive found is that im just sooooo comfy now that it seems a shame that i cant enjoy it.
The babymoon is thinning now folks.DH was a proper grump yesterday when i suggested he not move onto his 4th wire episode and maybe get a few things done-put some washing away, hoover,no big deal!He continued to be a bit snappy all day.As i pointed out i was getting broken nights too but was also recovering from my op Angry We decided to do a feed each last night but she slept on a bit so i did 4 am and her next was the morning grrrr. He has a day at work tmw before another 2 weeks off.No sign of the pil,i am very confused.are they sulking do you think? The plot thickens Hmm
Congrats byron xxxx

wigglesrock · 11/02/2011 08:37

Apples congratulations on baby Albie

Byron congratulations, well done, any name yet? Good tip about the towel and freezing. I remember with dds the first few days when I needed the loo, I cut up muslin cloths or used a face cloth, soaked them and held them to myself while I was going to the toilet - was much more comfy, less stingy, felt a little more supported Grin. Maybe tmi for a Fri morning!!!

Still nothing exciting here, dds are off school/ playgroup next week for midterm, so think it might be easier, no school run, making packed lunch etc. Although it looks like they are both getting pretty sniffy colds. Mr Wiggles is on night shifts all weekends, and to be honest I'm actually feeling a little nervy about him not being here, think I'll be heading to bed early, not that that's an unusual occurrance these days Grin

Ledkr Have you not heard from pils at all? No card, presents, flowers etc? Although knowing them I wouldn't bet against a "surprise" visit this weekend!!!

ZeroMinusZero · 11/02/2011 08:39

Ledkr I am amazed at your dds sleeping abilities, she's sleeping loads at night and without you even imposing a routine. Very impressive. Wire addiction can be a problem. We own the whole thing and zipped through it first time round, now dh wants to watch it all over again AND is trying to get me into boardwalk empire.

One of four, not sure what you can do other than rest as much as possible and eat and drink enough, ideally healthily. It might just be one of those things you have to put up with at the very end.

The latest news from my end is that I now can't see my ankles, because they're so swollen they just merge with the rest of my leg.

Congrats Byron :)

Sorry to hear about your cankles zero, my ankles look normal but my wrists look a bit swollen. One week to go until my EDD! I think I'll take DD out for another long walk later Grin

slowangels1 · 11/02/2011 08:50

Congrats apple and byron but [shocj] to apple for 47 hours - the babies are rolling in now Grin

ledkr so long as you're not hearing anything from the PIL, enjoy it while you can Wink. It does seem v odd and hope wiggles isn't right with the suprise visit idea Shock

My face is looking so fat and puffy now - anyone else? I can't even smile properly when I look in the mirror Blush as my cheeks are so chipmunk-ish. I'm not sure how much of this is fat from putting on lots of weight in pg or how much might be water retention . I just want to cry when I look in the mirror now. Btw not pre ec - had all the usual mw checks yesterday and all OK. I have been very very puffy in the hands/wrists/ankles for months but not so much face until now...

slowangels1 · 11/02/2011 08:53

x posted by zero and both mentioning our puffiness Wink

WaddlingSheep · 11/02/2011 09:26

Morning everyone!

Congratulations Byron! Grin Another baby!

I have been having pains all night. Not regular but they were getting stronger. I'm still getting them but I've got a feeling that they're going to stop. I don't know whether I'm pleased or disappointed Confused. I would love for baby to make an appearance now but I haven't finished nesting yet so I'm not quite ready. Oh well, I think I'll just get on with things today and maybe things will get properly started? I was going to take DD to a group today but I daren't go.

MizK · 11/02/2011 09:39

Morning everyone, and huge congrats on the new babies to apple and byron!
Just having mild panic as had a bloody show yesterday and now just waiting for things to kick off...my boobs have started leaking too (attractive). I had a show in my last pg after my waters started to break so am a bit clueless as to how long I should expect to wait before labour will startthis time, as waters v much intact and no real pains yet? Any advice v welcome.... am going to a Bumps and babies group today so am hoping my waters dont decide to break there!

WaddlingSheep · 11/02/2011 09:45

Congratulations applecharlotte! (I missed that announcement then, sorry Blush ) 47 hours of labour is tough and hardwork but so so worth it! Smile Hope you're recovering well!
