I think honey is OK MrsS just can't give to under 12 month olds as far as I am aware.
Sorry you missed out on your family time :(

Can you stop talking about maternity clothes please, I still have no sodding bump! Getting very jealous of you all! I thought I was getting a bump the other morning, but it's gone again!
Been listening to baby with doppler. My brother's listened at the weekend and one of them put on facebook that it was the best sound he has ever heard, ahhhhhhh :)

CappuccinoCarrie · 07/03/2011 17:27

This fell off my threads I'm on, must do better. Twas lovely to see mrss this weekend, and I can confirm presence of emerging bump :) So sorry you're feeling so ill now though :( I think the honey thing is one of those 'if its got nasty bugs in then that's not good for small people' rather than it being inherently bad, but I'm willing to be proved wrong!

My sickness has come back the last few days, really taken me by surprise, I had been feeling better from about 13 weeks but now its back :( I had it til 18wks with DD and 20wks with DS, and I'm 16 weeks now so hopefully the end is in sight.

Hooray for all those lovely scans and heartbeats! I heard the heartbeat for the first time on Friday, next thing is my 20wk scan on 4th April (I'll be nearly 22 wks) then midwife again at 28wks....I won't have seen her for 3 months!

I'm starting to think about when we might put DS in DD's room, we want to give ourselves lots of time to redecorate the little bedroom but I know less sleep will be had once they're sharing!

impatient1 · 07/03/2011 17:32

Hi all, Looooooong time since i posted, but i read everyday. MrsS paracetamol is fine, four hourly, up to 8000mg, (two tabs, four times a day).
Glad everyones scans have gone well, looking forward to mine on the 22nd.

impatient1 · 07/03/2011 17:33

that was meant to be 4000mg, Doh!

bettyboo83 · 07/03/2011 18:25

MrsS lockets are fine too, even the honey ones Smile www.boots.com/en/Lockets-Honey-Lemon-10-Lozenges_1690/ Hope you feel better soon x

LifeOfKate · 07/03/2011 20:53

Hi All :)

Lovely to read about all the scans :o

Had a midwife appointment today, all good although I practically had to beg her to listen to the heartbeat due to the guidelines changing Hmm She found it straight away :o

It doesn't feel like you get many appointments the second time round, I'm only going to see her once more before the birth as just my 28 week appt to go before I'm transferred to consultant care from my 34 week appt.

littlemissw · 07/03/2011 20:58

Breathrite strips are safe to use during pregnancy and helps a lot for my stuffy nose at night MorningsMadness. DH laughs himself silly every night, but if it stops me from waking up & snoring I don't care what I look like! :o

Sorry to hear you had such a scare & glad that you got some good news jspark123. It must have been a real roller coaster ride for you over the last few weeks.

Hope you feel better soon MrsS. Like others have said, honey is ok in pregnancy, its just little people that aren't allowed it (for some reason I'm thinking my 'Birth to 5' book says up to the age of 5!?)

Thank you all for the lovely congrats! My head is still spinning, its very strange knowing what we are having before its born & I can't stop thinking about it. :o

MorningsMadness · 07/03/2011 21:03

Ok, steam (frizzy hair is a price we must pay!), lockets and paracetomol in ltd doses on my list from the above posts!
MrsS - shouting at BG helps me but keep the lockets handy afterwards!

mrsred · 07/03/2011 21:35

I've read that you shouldn't give small people under 1 yr old honey, not sure about pregnancy though?

sisterT · 08/03/2011 03:30

I think it is just children under 1yr that shouldnt have honey: PG is fine!

I have had a stuffy & runny nose for weeks Sad. My GP says it is pregnancy related rhinitis so hormonal rather than a really long cold and may last until up to two months after the birth if I am really unfortunate Shock. What has helped is the purchase of a cold water humidifier for my bedrroom at nighttime - £30 from Argos and much safer than dozing off near a bowl of steaming water!!!!!

kathpeak · 08/03/2011 09:01

Hi everyone!
It is great to read everyone's news. All these wonderful scans and heartbeats. I can't imagine how it must have been before the use of ultrasound.
"Hello doctor, I think I might be pregnant"
"Congratulations, you are pregnant... come back in 8 months or so when you start getting contractions."

Caution - Moan alert!
We have colds. DD had croup for a week and she has given the virus to DH and I. My face hurts, my eyes hurt, I can't breathe and my throat is raw. I - have - had - enough! 2 nights with virtually no sleep and now DH is working away from home for 3 days. I can't even drop DD over to my lovely neighbour for an hour because she might still be contagious.
Sigh!

Yukana · 08/03/2011 09:06

Like others have been saying, it was lovely to hear about the scans and heartbeats. It's great that you got to see MrsS Carrie and Kate I'm glad you managed to persuade her. ;)

I just bought some things from john lewis as I couldn't resist. A bravado nursing bra (it looked really comfortable and I struggle to not want to kill everything that is a bra at times), a changing mat, a baby sleeping bag, and a cream bunny for the baby to love.
I also bought my doppler, hurrah!

I've asked a couple of friends of mine if they want to go shopping with me for various bits and bobs for the baby and the pregnancy, but my main dilemma is making a decision on what cot to buy. I want to put a lot of thought into it as I feel it's really important the baby is comfortable and likes it. Or maybe I'm just being silly. :)

Charleigh0 · 08/03/2011 10:14

I am pregnant with my first baby and it is due august 3rd :) Good to hear about scans and heart beats too x

MrsStevo · 08/03/2011 10:24

Ooooh a newbie! Welcome Charleigh!

Thank you all for your advice about honey - I have continued with my use of manuka honey and lemon and have avoided paracetamol. I'm dubious about drugs as I hardly ever use them when I'm not pregnant so don't want to overdo it now I am. Still feel rough though - my head bangs when I stand up or move around and, combined with my low BP that makes me dizzy, that isn't a fab combo. Nevermind, less moaning and more enjoyment of spending another day in bed (still without heating).

yukana - I really want to start shopping for the important stuff too but DH wants to wait until we're past 24 weeks. I keep reminding him that I'm going to be incapable of movement from about 30 weeks so that doesn't leave much of a window. I REALLY want to get shopping, but equally I don't want to buy stuff now and end up not liking it by the time they arrive ... or worse, end up seeing it at a bargain price two months down the line! I can't WAIT to get the nursery sorted, think I will just sit in it every day admiring its beauty!! Eeeek.

16 week scan tomorrow with consultant - apparently now and 18 weeks are when he can start seeing potential complications with twins so FX it goes well. I know their heartbeats are still strong thanks to my beloved doppler so I'm not too worried :)

Rozeeglow · 08/03/2011 12:49

Welcome Charleigh, always nice to have a new 'face' on here.

MrsS and Kate, hope you feel much better soon. Colds are horrible at anytime but pregnancy just seems to magnify everything :(

Congrats to all with happy scans. It's lovely to read about them. I had my 16 week appointment yesterday and met my midwife for the first time (she's lovely).
I know new guidelines on heartbeat scanning have been mentioned so was prepared for the same but I don't think my midwife is taking them to heart as it's one of the first things she did :) It took a while for to find bubba (who was hiding behind the placenta apparently) but it was lovely to hear the heartbeat. Happy days!

MrsStevo · 08/03/2011 13:34

Ooooooh. Just bought tickets for the Baby Show at the NEC in May. Might be rubbish but it looked quite good when The Apprentice candidates were there a couple of years ago!! Anyone else planning to go?

Anu3 · 08/03/2011 18:02

Welcome Charleigh!

hope you feel better soon MrsS and Kate.

Im looking for some advise on buying a cot. Im a first timer so need all the help I can get on this one. I want to have the baby next to me for the first 4-6 months atleast as I would like to BF so hoping to buy a bed side cot as im nervous about sharing a bed with the baby. Also would like it to have castor wheels if we want to move the cot to the nursery after a while. Our bed is a low design and was wondering if you get bedside cots that can be adjusted for height. Any recommendations / thoughts welcome!!

KLou111 · 08/03/2011 18:32

Not sure Anu first timer too, but I'm getting a moses basket and stand for in our room for the first couple of months, then will move baby into cot in nursery (in moses basket) until he/she get used to the bars.
I will be BF too, but am planning to put a gliding nursing chair in the nursery.

Welcome Charleigh and congratulations on your pregnancy.

Boo on feeling sicky!

You've got to click this, it's hilarious. Can't believe she put this on, muppet www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/894121-to-want-to-quit-my-job-NOW-and-never-ever

Kezzamo · 08/03/2011 18:43

Hi every one! I'm very excited. I heard the babies heart beat for the first time last night! Third try and DH was listening too was amazing Grin

Also today the hospital phoned and we are having a baby boy!!!! im only 15 weeks but we know because I had a CVS. Amazing!

mrs stevo we are going to the baby show too. good timing for us hey! Am hoping to pick up some bargains and there is a photo place to get your bump professionally photographed. (maybe they can make it look nice Hmm

KLou111 · 08/03/2011 18:56

So pleased you got to hear baby Kezz best sound ever! I am so glad I bought the doppler now, as I listen most days, and find him/her straight away. It's the best :)
Congrats on your baby boy Grin makes me want to find out, but we have agreed not to.

MrsStevo · 08/03/2011 19:01

Anu - I can't really offer advice as I'm a first timer too, but it just so happens that I've spent the day researching this exact topic! I too want a cot that is attached to our bed initially and found the 'Arm's reach Co-Sleeper' to be a bit of a winner. Obv I'm having twins so I'm looking at the twin version, but have a look at www.armsreach.com. there is also a used 'mini' version on ebay at the moment:
cgi.ebay.co.uk/Arms-Reach-Mini-Co-Sleeper-/200582976935?pt=UK_Baby_Nursery_Furniture_ET&hash=item2eb3ad55a7
which is going for £31 at the mo but doesn't say what condition it is in.

They seem to be being raved about so I'm trying to hunt down a cheaper one at the mo from various twins clubs. Might be worth you searching around on amazon etc if the ebay one doesn't grab you - they are quite expensive brand new from that website. Happy hunting though!

wheresmytractor · 08/03/2011 20:27

HI ladies,

Just popping in to say its been ages since i posted but I catch up regularly. All's good here, getting rather fat, nausea finally gone but still feeling really tired. Can't wait till my 20 week scan, only 13 days to go! LOoking forward to telling my boys if its a brother or sister on the way. I'm also looking forward to getting my elcs date so I know the actually day little fluff will be born - yey!

Take care all x x

Firawla · 08/03/2011 20:40

welcome charleigh

mrs stevo i think baby show is quite good, i've been a few times. it's nice to see so many baby items in one place, for eg those bedside cot things your mentioning they tend to have that kind of thing so you can see it in the flesh and have a look, then if you find it cheaper just buy it online :p otherwise they may have some good prices there anyway

kezzamo how exciting hearing heatbeat and finding out gender.

i cant wait to find out gender of mine now, cos i just want to do some shopping
